Horrible customer relations and misleading! I ordered a grill on January 5. Was told on the APP that is would be on Jan 12. Well that date came and went. Spoke to Academy chat which called the store in Newnan GA. I was told the installer was coming in and would be ready that week. Didn’t happen. Called again same response and same result. It is not January 29 and once again same response. Do not shop with this compan! They will lie, mislead and down right be totally disrespectful and dishonest!

Academy Headquarters- Store wouldn't live up to what we were told by their employee

We went to our local, Lafayette, Indiana, Academy Sports on August 21st to purchase the Proform Pro 9000 treadmill which was on sale. There were none in stock, but we were told we could order one, and have it shipped to the store at no charge. We were also told that if we had or applied for an Academy Sports card we would be able to receive an additional 5% off the purchase price. We applied and were told that there was a 7-10-day waiting period. We were told an employee could look up the system to get the new card number before us received the card in the mail. So after waiting a few days, we returned to the store only to learn that the card had yet to be approved. Not wanting to lose out on the sale which ends August 30th, we decided to order the treadmill and forfeit the 5% additional sale funds, but still be able to have it shipped to the store at no charge. Nope, that choice was no longer available on the order screen. So after 4 more phone calls to the store, customer service and finally to the store manager (who was on break & we had to call back) we were told that nothing could be done and that the shipping to the store was no longer optional as it wasn’t at their distribution center. Having worked in the freight business for years, we know that an item can be sent from another distribution center to fulfill a store’s obligation to its customers. We were told flatly that nothing could be done. So, not only have you lost customers who have purchased many high-dollar items both in Indiana and Georgie from Academy and highly recommended your store in the past, but you have cost us hundreds of dollars more for the final item we will ever buy from Academy Sports. We are so disappointed in your stance.

Fount out Academy Sports does not give any guarantee that you will receive what you order online, or feels the need to even give you the option to do so. I ordered an expensive thermal camera, there was no options on the shipping to add insurance or require a signature to drop off. I just assumed they just took care of that part for you. At the very least have it to where someone had to sign for it. But no, none of that. Now some crack head probably has my thermal camera and they pretty much told me to get lost. Even had one customer service rep. disconnect our conversation right in the middle of me typing my answer. They want to put it off on FedEx, but they didn’t know what was in the box or how much it was worth. So I’m out the money because they didn’t have the sense to add something to the shipping to make sure I got it. Told them about the tens of thousands I spend there almost yearly and they just thanks but we can’t help you. If they would have given me the option and I didn’t do it it would be a different story.
