AAMCO Transmission Misrepresentation

Rated 3.0 out of 5
May 16, 2023

Dear AAMCO Corporate Office,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent service I received at one of your AAMCO locations, and to bring to your attention the misrepresentation and discrepancies that have occurred during my visit.

In May 2023, I visited AAMCO Hull St Midlothian VA to obtain an estimate for the repair of my transmission. Although my transmission was still functioning, the warning light was on, and I wanted to address the issue before it worsened. I had reasonable expectations of the repair cost, anticipating it to be around $3,000 at most.

To my surprise, the estimate provided by your representatives at the location indicated a significantly higher amount of approximately $5,000. This disparity in the projected cost was not only disconcerting but also left me feeling misled and misinformed about the expenses I would incur for the necessary repairs.

Furthermore, I noticed a prominent sign displayed in the window, which stated “No credit needed 6-month financing.” Encouraged by this offer, I agreed to proceed with the repairs under the assumption that I would have the option to finance the work without the need for credit approval. Regrettably, when the final bill was presented to me, it amounted to $6,315, far exceeding the initial estimate.

Upon inquiring about the credit option, I was informed that it would only cover $1,000, contrary to the clear impression created by the signage. This discrepancy is not only deeply concerning but also raises questions about the integrity and transparency of the information provided by your representatives. I strongly believe that such misleading practices should be addressed promptly and rectified to ensure fairness and clarity for customers.

In light of this situation, I kindly request the following resolutions:

Evaluation of the necessity of the work performed: I urge you to conduct a thorough assessment to determine whether the repairs done to my transmission were genuinely necessary and if the price charged was fair and justified. I would appreciate receiving a detailed breakdown of the services rendered and their associated costs.

One-year interest-free financing: Considering the misrepresentation of the financing options at the location, I request that AAMCO provide me with a one-year interest-free financing arrangement specifically for the work done on my vehicle. This will help alleviate the unexpected financial burden resulting from the higher bill and the misrepresented credit option.

Transparency and accuracy in advertising: I implore AAMCO to ensure that all advertising materials, including signage, accurately represent the financing options available to customers. It is essential to avoid misleading customers and to provide clear, transparent information to make informed decisions about their repairs and associated costs.

I believe that by addressing these concerns and providing a fair resolution, AAMCO can restore my trust in your brand and maintain its reputation for providing reliable and customer-oriented service.

I am open to resolving this matter amicably and would appreciate your prompt attention to this issue. I look forward to receiving a satisfactory response within [reasonable timeframe, e.g., 10 business days] to ensure a swift resolution.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I hope we can resolve this issue promptly and avoid any further escalation.
