Orbitz Corporate Office Headquarters: Address, Customer Service, Refunds and Complaints

🗨  Comments

Orbitz is an online travel-booking brand owned by Expedia Group. Orbitz’s current terms identify Expedia, Inc., located at 1111 Expedia Group Way West, Seattle, WA 98119, as the company providing the Orbitz website, mobile application, booking tools, and traveler-support service.

Travelers who need help with a flight, hotel, vacation package, rental car, cruise, activity, refund, airline credit, or account should use the official Orbitz Help Center. Orbitz currently provides issue-specific support through My Trips, its virtual agent, chat, and contact options displayed after the traveler identifies the booking.

Orbitz Corporate Office and Customer Support Information

Orbitz corporate office and Expedia Group traveler support information

The former 500 West Madison Street address was associated with Orbitz’s historical Chicago operations. Current regulatory records list Orbitz LLC at 200 South Wacker Drive, Suite 1900, Chicago, IL 60606. Orbitz’s consumer service and booking terms are now administered by Expedia, Inc. from Expedia Group’s Seattle headquarters.

The previously listed telephone numbers 312-279-7740, 312-894-5000, 1-844-803-5578, and 1-888-656-4546 are not currently displayed as universal Orbitz support numbers on the official Help Center. Travelers should avoid relying on telephone numbers copied from search advertisements or unofficial travel-support websites.

Who Owns Orbitz?

Orbitz was launched in 2001 with the backing of several major airlines. Expedia completed its acquisition of Orbitz Worldwide in 2015.

Orbitz is now part of Expedia Group’s portfolio of travel brands. Expedia Group’s principal consumer brands include Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. Its additional portfolio brands include Orbitz, Travelocity, ebookers, and Wotif.

Expedia Group is publicly traded on Nasdaq under the symbol EXPE.

  • Expedia Group Chief Executive Officer: Ariane Gorin
  • Chairman and Senior Executive: Barry Diller
  • Chief Financial Officer: Derek Andersen
  • Chief Legal and People Officer: Robert Dzielak
  • Chief Product Officer: Shilpa Ranganathan
  • Chief Technology Officer: Ramana Thumu

Orbitz does not currently publish a separate chief executive or independent corporate leadership team for the brand.

Orbitz Corporate Office vs. Traveler Support

Expedia Group’s headquarters handles executive leadership, technology, finance, legal affairs, investor relations, employment, supplier relationships, privacy, and other companywide functions.

Orbitz traveler support handles individual bookings, including:

  • Finding an itinerary or confirmation
  • Flight changes and cancellations
  • Hotel cancellations and refund questions
  • Airline schedule changes
  • Rental-car reservations
  • Vacation-package components
  • Cruises and activities
  • Airline credits and vouchers
  • Duplicate or unexpected charges
  • Orbitz Rewards and Orbucks
  • Account access and security

Calling Expedia Group’s corporate office does not automatically cancel a trip, issue a refund, rebook a flight, extend an airline credit, or override a travel provider’s policy.

How to Contact and Escalate an Orbitz Complaint

Start through the Orbitz Help Center or My Trips. Signing in allows the support system to display options connected to the specific itinerary.

Travelers who did not create an account can generally locate a booking using the itinerary number and the email address used during checkout.

Prepare:

  • The Orbitz itinerary number
  • The traveler’s name as booked
  • The email address and telephone number used for the reservation
  • The airline, property, rental agency, or other provider
  • The travel dates
  • The amount charged
  • Cancellation or refund confirmation numbers
  • Airline-credit or voucher information
  • Previous chat transcripts and case numbers
  • The specific correction or resolution requested

Ask the support representative to document the complaint and provide a case number. Keep screenshots or transcripts of the conversation.

For unresolved booking complaints, written correspondence can be sent to:

Expedia, Inc.
Attn: Traveler Support
1111 Expedia Group Way West
Seattle, WA 98119

Written mail is not appropriate for a flight departing soon, a same-day hotel problem, a missed rental-car pickup, or another urgent travel interruption.

Orbitz Is an Intermediary Between Travelers and Providers

Orbitz helps customers search for and reserve travel, but the airline, hotel, rental-car company, cruise line, activity operator, or other supplier normally provides the underlying service.

The provider’s rules may control:

  • Whether the booking is refundable
  • Cancellation deadlines
  • Change penalties
  • Airline-credit eligibility
  • Baggage and seating fees
  • Hotel deposits and resort fees
  • Rental-car age and payment requirements
  • No-show penalties

Review the rules shown before payment and save the booking confirmation. The terms that existed when the reservation was made generally continue to govern that booking even if the website’s general terms later change.

Flight Changes, Cancellations, and Airline Credits

Airlines control their schedules, ticket restrictions, baggage policies, seating, refunds, and travel-credit rules. Some flights can be changed through My Trips, while others require assistance from Orbitz or the airline.

Some low-cost airline reservations must be changed or cancelled directly with the carrier. A booking redirected to an airline’s website may be a direct airline purchase rather than an Orbitz-managed transaction.

Orbitz Bargain Fares have especially restrictive terms. Current Orbitz terms state that these fares are generally final and cannot be changed, refunded, exchanged, cancelled, or transferred.

Combined one-way itineraries consist of two separate tickets. When one airline changes or cancels its flight, the traveler may still be responsible for changing the second ticket and paying any related cost.

When an airline cancels or substantially changes a flight, ask:

  • Whether a cash refund is available
  • Whether the airline or Orbitz controls the ticket
  • Whether accepting a credit waives a refund option
  • The credit’s owner, value, expiration date, and restrictions
  • Whether fare differences apply when rebooking

Hotel Cancellations and Refunds

Hotel cancellation rules vary by property and rate. Some stays are fully refundable before a specified deadline, while prepaid and promotional rates may be partially refundable or nonrefundable.

The booking confirmation should state:

  • The final cancellation deadline
  • The property’s local time zone
  • The cancellation penalty
  • Whether the hotel or Orbitz collected payment
  • Any resort, destination, parking, or deposit fees due at the property

A Pay Now reservation is typically charged when booked. A Pay Later reservation is generally charged by the property in its local currency at check-in, checkout, or another time disclosed during booking.

If a serious problem occurs at the property, report it immediately to hotel management and Orbitz. Photograph the condition, ask for a written incident report, and document whether the property offered another room, early checkout, or a refund.

Leaving the hotel without reporting the problem may make a later refund request more difficult.

Refund Timelines and Missing Refunds

Approved refunds are normally returned to the original payment method by the company that collected the payment. Orbitz may not be able to see every step of an airline, property, or other provider’s refund process.

Before escalating a missing refund, confirm:

  • Who originally charged the payment
  • The date cancellation was approved
  • The approved refund amount
  • Whether a credit or voucher was issued instead
  • The last four digits of the original payment method
  • Whether the card account has been replaced or closed

Request written confirmation of the refund date and amount. A financial institution may need additional time to display the credit after it has been processed.

Vacation Packages

An Orbitz vacation package combines separate travel components, such as a flight and hotel, in one booking process. Each component remains subject to its own supplier rules.

Cancelling one part does not necessarily cancel the rest of the package. A traveler may need to manage the flight, hotel, rental car, and activity separately.

A package can also produce multiple charges because different Expedia Group companies or travel providers may collect payment for individual components.

Before changing a package, ask support to explain the effect on every component and any package discount that could be lost.

Rental-Car Complaints

The rental-car company controls vehicle availability, security deposits, driver qualifications, fuel charges, optional products, local fees, and damage claims.

The primary driver generally must present an accepted payment card and valid driver’s license at pickup. A rental company may refuse the vehicle when the driver does not satisfy its identification, age, payment, deposit, or licensing requirements.

Orbitz’s current general terms state that no refunds are offered for rental bookings cancelled within six hours of collection or for unused rental days. The specific rental-company rules may impose additional restrictions.

Inspect the vehicle and photograph existing damage before leaving the lot. Obtain a final receipt when returning it.

Travel Protection and Insurance

Travel insurance is not automatically included unless the booking specifically says otherwise. When insurance is offered, the policy identifies the insurer or administrator, covered reasons, exclusions, filing deadlines, and claim procedure.

Orbitz traveler support manages the booking, while the insurance company decides an insurance claim. Cancelling a trip through Orbitz does not automatically file an insurance claim.

Keep the policy certificate, receipts, cancellation confirmation, medical or delay documentation, and the provider’s written denial or refund decision.

Orbitz Rewards and Orbucks

Orbitz currently operates the Orbitz Rewards program. Members earn Orbucks on eligible reservations and can redeem them toward qualifying prepaid hotel bookings.

Current advertised earning rates include:

  • 1% on eligible flights
  • 3% on eligible hotels booked on the website
  • 4% on eligible hotels booked through the app
  • 1% on eligible packages
  • 3% on eligible activities

One Orbuck generally equals one dollar toward a qualifying hotel stay. Most Orbucks expire after one year. Cancellation, refund, fraud review, or an ineligible booking may cause rewards to be removed.

Save screenshots of the promotion and reward amount shown at checkout when a rewards dispute occurs.

Privacy, Account Security, and Scams

Orbitz’s privacy statement provides information about accessing, correcting, deleting, or restricting personal information and opting out of qualifying data uses.

Privacy and account requests should be submitted through the privacy section of the Orbitz Help Center or the controls available in the Expedia Group account.

Protect the itinerary number because it may allow access to booking details. Do not publish passport information, payment-card details, airline confirmation codes, hotel access codes, or travel dates in a public complaint.

Scammers often purchase advertisements that resemble official airline or travel-agency support. Begin at Orbitz.com rather than calling a number shown in a sponsored search result. Orbitz support should not ask for payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or remote computer access.

Orbitz Careers and Human Resources

Orbitz-related product, technology, marketing, traveler-support, finance, legal, and commercial positions are generally listed through Expedia Group Careers.

The old Expedia telephone number 425-679-7200 should not be described as a dedicated Orbitz Human Resources number. Applicants should use the contact information associated with an official Expedia Group job posting.

Orbitz Reviews and Complaints

Three reader reviews were visible on CorporateOfficeHeadquarters.com when this page was updated. Individual reviewers described difficulty completing an online reservation, a hotel-refund dispute after reporting alleged bed bugs, and frustration using an airline credit when a lower online fare appeared unavailable.

These are individual, unverified accounts. They do not establish an overall Orbitz rating or prove a companywide complaint pattern.

A useful review should identify the booking type, travel provider, approximate date, general problem, support route used, response time, and whether the issue was resolved.

Orbitz Competitors and Related Corporate Office Pages

Orbitz competes with online travel agencies, airline and hotel websites, travel-search services, and vacation-rental platforms. Major alternatives include Booking.com, Priceline, Hopper, Airbnb, and direct supplier booking.

Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels.com, and Vrbo should be understood as related Expedia Group brands rather than independent parent-company competitors.

Orbitz Customer Service Issue

April 8, 2024

If you have a credit you can not book lowest fare online. They up the price to almost double the online published price! If you have a credit they tell you you can not book the lowest available fare and almost double the price. The reason they say is availability. I can book using a CC for $1200.00. But if I want to use my credit which I paid them with a Credit Card they up the price to almost $1900.00.
