Bubba Gump Galveston TX Disappointing Experience

May 12, 2025

Bubba Gump, Terrible Management. My wife and I ate at the Bubba Gump restaurant at the Paradise Pier on Saturday, May 10th. It was our 31st anniversary and we had decided to go to your establishment to celebrate. First let me say that we have dined at the Hawaii and the San Francisco locations and enjoyed them both so much that we told everyone we know to go and try it. My wife and I arrived at the restaurant at ten minutes to six and we were told that the wait would only be 15-20 minutes. So, I gave the hostess my phone number and added my name to the waiting list. I told my wife that we got there just in time because a Huge line had formed about 10 minutes after we arrived. After waiting almost 30 minutes I decided to go and ask how much longer the wait would be. The seating host and hostess asked for my name, found it and said that they did not know why we had not already been seated. They quickly cleared a table and sat us. Our server was very nice and quickly took our drink orders. The drinks took almost 15 minutes to be served to us and the server did not come to take our order until after our drinks arrived. We ordered two bowls of soup, Shrimper’s Heaven and Forrest’s Seafood Feast. We waited about 20 minutes for the soup to come out and when it did, they only brought one bowl. I told the lady that we had ordered two bowls, and the expediter said she must have read the ticket wrong. Our server brought the second bowl. We then waited about 40 minutes before I asked to speak to the manager. Low and behold the manager shows up with our Two plates of food. I told her that this service was unacceptable since we had ordered fried food that does not take that long to cook. Rather than apologizing to me she begins to be extremely rude to me and says that she “turns 120-150 seats an hour in this restaurant”. So, I told her that my wife and I had both worked in food service and if what she said was true, then she should be staffed better to be better prepared for this massive surge of people. I told her that there was no reason for us to have been sitting there for almost an hour before we were finally served our dinner. Again, rather than apologizing, she says “well obviously your hungry so I will just leave you here with your meal”. After we finished our meal, my wife told our server that she had done nothing wrong and that our complaint was with the slow service from the kitchen. The server then tells us that she had just had this conversation with the management and told them that the kitchen needs to be run better. This is not how I chose to spend my hard-earned money, and I will not be coming back to this location. My family and I just moved to the Houston area and have lots of friends and family that plan to come visit us over the summer. I will not be subjecting any of them to this poor service and rude management.
