  1. On April 11, 2012, XXXXXX Insurance Company claimed they mailed the Re-instated bond to FPL the obligee. It is your policy to receive originals and I understand that fully, but what I don’t understand is the lack of customer courtesy. FPL does not offer the professional courtesy of contacting the Insurance company for verification. I have the copy from the insurance company mailed to me and yet FPL has not received the copy and will NOT accept my copy nor grant an extension.


    We had a Final Notice to pay $2679.26 (Security Deposit) by April, 16. Prior to April 16, I called several times to notify FPL to advise them that the Surety bond company issued the reinstatement of the bond. Yesterday on April, 16, I called and FPL gave me ONE day extension.

    I called again today and was told that my account was noted but disconnection not guaranteed The condescending and non co-operative attitude aggravates me… FPL has the notion that customers are scammers….

    I feel after 6 years and assisting FPL to regain over 1200 customers otherwise lost to foreclosure, FPL has no regard for the agents who help in regaining FPL customers lost due to foreclosure.

    As agents, we maintain the properties for the banks by starting the electric service and paying the bills for the banks and their servicers who in turn may reimburse us. The condescending and non co-operative attitude intimidates me..I have the copy from the insurance company mailed to me and yet FPL has not received

    In addition, to start the service, FPL requires a deposit based on the previous owners’ bills. Why can’t you have a standard deposit like other providers?

    I don’t expect a response as usual but I needed to put this in writing. Should I have this on facebook?

    2. Wow, as a residential customer I tried to call Customer Service and I get this F..k..g automated call center. Took me an hour to get a hold of someone. Albeit, the rates are low where I am in comparison to where I lived up North but even the utility up North had some good things said about them. Customer service SUCKS FPL. This is just horrid.

  2. FPL is the absolute worst in minority communities. I work in public safety in an affluent community and if you call them they are within 30 mins.But my power was shut off due to a non payment oversight at 2 pm the bill was paid via cell phone by 2:05 pm and by 11 pm the power was still off and we had to get a hotel... I will NEVER VOTE ON ANYTHING IN Favor of FPL. and thank you for pushing me into going green.

  3. A NOTIFICATION WAS PLACED ON MY DOOR INFORMING ME THAT MY POWER WOULD BE OUT AT 10AM ON 5/18/13. NO WHERE ON THIS NOTICE DID IT SAY HOW LONG THE POWER WOULD BE OUT. BECAUSE OF THAT I AM FORCED TO CALL OFF WORK BECAUSE SO ONE DID NOT HAVE THE COURTESY OF GIVING ME A TIME LIMIT OF HOW LONG THIS PROCEDURE WILL TAKE.IF I WOULD OF BEEN GIVEN THAT INFORMATION I WOULD OF MADE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS TO PREPARE MYSELF OF GOING TO WORK.ON TOP OF THAT FPL IS NOT EVEN TRYING TO FIX THIS ISSUE. A SUBCONTRACTOR FROM PIKE ELECTRIC IS WORKING ON THE POWER OUTAGE. I AM VERY FURIOUS FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE AND I EXPECT TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THIS MATTER!!!

  4. On my Final Bill,It stated "Thank you for your good payment record as a customer of FPL for at least 23 months. Keep this statement as a refeeral to help avoid a deposit at your next utility. Well guess what,FPL is charging me a deposit fee of 351.00 UNLESS I use autobill pay. They said it pertained only if I had utility with another company.Well,as a loyal customer,I returned to FPL only to have to ay the deposit. This company does not care AT ALL about their customers. I called the Corporate number only to get hung up on by the numerous automated recordings or that mailbox if full right now. Jessica Guetirrez,the supervisor,did not help at all. I am reporting this to BBB,Consumer Affair Dept...They shouldn't make promises that they don't keep.

  5. my elec is shut off every other month..because..I CANT AFFORD TO PAY RENT,,i have gone without elec,to many times to count...ive gone without food...i just want to know for the last 10 YEARS...how much, have i paid in reconnection fees, Latepayment fees, fees for paying cash, fees for using a credit card forcing me to pay a fee by using western union speedpay...i struggle every damn month...but fpl charges me more & more each time..

  7. FPL is way behind the times. Every other utility, web site or anyone else posts their payments within 30 minutes, FPL takes 3 days! I live paycheck to paycheck, and when I paid the bill, money was in my account. 3 days later, my bank decides who to pay and my payment was returned, twice in 20 years! Now I'm on a cash only payments, and if I could get electric service from somebody else, I would! Instead, I need to travel two towns over to make cash payments every month. I tried to talk to someone at FPL, but Trisha the accounts Supervisor could only quote policy, like I was paying out of my bank account, not my debit card! (who knew?) When I tried to speak to someone higher than Trisha, I was informed her "boss" or supervisor didn't take phone calls! Customer service at FPL is a joke! They don't care because there is no other option. If they would allow "customers" the opportunity to speak to people , other than the low level supervisors they employ, they might understand the level of frustration and annoyance with this company. Every number I looked up or contact information lead me right back to Trisha, who could only offer to put me on hold and hope for a different supervisor. An absolute joke, and an annoying one!

  8. I happened on this page while looking for other information and was amazed to find negative comments. I've been in Ft.Myers for over 40 years and have had no problems. That can't be just luck. It's a good business that has can see us through numerous tropical storms and hurricane winds. Anyway, thank you, FPL

  9. FPL stands for Florida Plunder & Loot. Today 9/5/15 is the 8th time in less than 2 months my neighborhood has lost all power to over 1,000 homes due to 'a problem with a main line.' WHY CAN'T YOU GET THIS RIGHT? You are derelict in your prevention duties! Trimming trees doesn't cut it! YOU HAVE TO REPLACE LINES UNDERGROUND. Only once out of the 8 outages has there been a valid reason and that's when a tornado went down the street. Other than that these are simple thunderstorms ... what's going to happen when a REAL hurricane hits us? We are at your mercy as you are a monopoly in FL always wanting MORE MORE MORE while delivering LESS LESS LESS to your customers and MORE to your stakeholders. WE are who you need to be concerned with NOT your stock price! Stop plundering our land, our water supply for your Miami nuclear facility which is UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPANDED, and your corporate greed. REPLACE OLD LINES IN 1950's neighborhoods like mine in Killian (SW 102 Ave in 33176) and do your duty!

  10. Contacted FPL on 1/31/14 about a tree needing to be trimmed away from their power line. It had been neglected by FPL so bad that it had two power lines touching and sparking. They would not trim the tree. Contacted FPL again on 3/12/14 about the same problem, they refused to do anything. Contacted FPL again about the same problem on 9/23/14 this time they put a door tag on my door on 9/29/14 that the tree would be trimmed within two weeks. No one ever showed up. Contacted them again after watching this power line spark for a year on 9/14/15. I asked for the corporate office number the managers refused to give it to me. FPL has been taking our money for years, their power lines are out of date and unmaintained. The company has a monopoly with our power and do only what they want and in the time they want. FPL has no regard for human life, quality of their lines or their customers. I have children that have not been able to play in the area of FPL lines because of FPLs neglect. The lines run across my property not on the borders. They refuse to bring this 1950 setup up to date yet they continually collect the money and drive shiny new trucks. I should sue, we all should sue FPL.

    1. I hear you Michael. I believe we should look into a class action suit for the very reasons you mention. I to have gotten the run around and a representative just told me they would risk an electrocution rather than attend to the issue. He went on to explain that it would be a minimum of 21 days until it would be "looked" into. Bullshit!

  11. I em a contractor working in Cape Canaveral Plant working the emergency outage. The night shift supervisor take safety very serious which should. But doesn't follow smoking policy as should be. He drives around in his golf cart smoking anywhere he please. Leading by sample is what should be happening. And his name is Evan.

    I'm the sole owner and employee . I have been enrolled in fpl's rebate program and was just contacted by fpl and told that i could no longer participate in the program.It seems that i missed my quota by one installation.When I called them ,they would not budge.
    So now , the larger companies will take any potential new installs.
    This is totally anti competition and unamerican.They are strangling the smallest in the field . This is the most backward policy that I have ever seen.They are slowly forcing me to shut down,

  13. Would like to report a Scam being perpetrated in the name of Florida Power & Light. We just received a phone call coming from 866-978-9329 requesting payment by phone to prevent power shut off within the next 30 minutes. The party identified themselves as FPL and requested to speak to our business owner whom they correctly named. Since we lease office space in a building, we do not have an FPL account which suggested a possible scam. I requested their phone number which accurately reflected the number on my screen and they provided ext #2233. I am not sure if this was a legitimate attempt at collecting in error or a scam. Just thought I should report it as it sounded suspicious and I wouldn't want other falling victim to a scam perpetrated in the name of FPL.

I am a little upset that FPL hires a sub-contractor to trim the tree limbs away from the power lines in front of my house which is good for them and me, but when said contractor picks up all of the large debris and leaves the rest for me to clean up I have a real problem with that, I don't work in my yard to keep it clean and maintained to have someone come by and leave a mess for me to clean up. When I called customer service all I got was every excuse that you can think of, as far as they were concerned it is all about the money and not the customer. when I talked with the man in charge of the crew for Asplundh the guy said that they did not have a broom on the truck and the rake he was using only had about 6 tines on it. I see absolutely no reason why I should have to clean up after someone that is getting paid to do a job, unless the customer service rep was right and it has nothing to do with me it only has to do with capitalism and the almighty dollar. I absolutely have better and more important things to do like go to the doctor and take care of my cancer then to spend time in my yard cleaning up a mess from someone else. I also know that I just wasted my time writing this because I know it won't go know where because FPL just does not care.

I still have yet to receive any bills and my address must be had in order for me to have service. Supposedly my issues were relayed to corporate but if they have been then they have continued to be ignored. Still no bills to my address in Melbourne and no acknowledgement of any information I have sent in disputing bills. How long until I receive real answers because calling the local Brevard office has done nothing for me. At this point no one even bothers to call anymore because event the people who work for you can't legitimately explain the nonsense that is going on with my account. There fore I have no problem going out of my way to complain again and again online since my complaints by phone are being ignored. Tiffany L.   20. I've been dealing with getting security lights put on 2 existing poles for 6 months now. Finally after 4 of those months, they installed them, but in the wrong places. Been dealing with them for 2 months now trying to get them changed. Been sending a bill since, we asked for them, but aren't paying until issue is resolved. They keep telling us we will receive a call back in 3-5 days. REALLY?!? Even talked to supervisor and says there is no one higher to talk to. They are so lazy, they have sent THREE final notices for cutoff of the lights they installed wrong. Never dealt with such a sorry excuse for a business in my life!!

I had my lights shut off for four days because of the high deposit that fpl billed me when I moved and I haven't had fpl since 2012 I closed out my account being paid in full now that I moved to another home open the account in August of this year had lights for one month and my bill was $888.30 shut off my service talking about non payment on the deposit I called to try n get an extension because I have a child with asthma and my wife is pregnant now fpl was so rude and told me I don't pay I get no lights and mind you all my food went bad over 200$ in food just go shopping for sad case I reported them to the public service commission and they then want to work with me and I still have a 300$ bill that is gonna be billed on my account in another week or so something really needs to be done about this company such a Rip off and scam water and sewer deposit ain't even that high only 100$ fpl needs to be shut down and get a reasonable engery company

    They get away with so much. I have been severely ripped off in more ways than one. I wonder how many class action lawsuits there are that are ongoing for all the crap they do to people. The should reap the bad karma they sow. I have never seen such a confused dioriented bunch of nut jobs.

    You can't even imagine the crap this fucked up company has done to me. They don't desrve a loyal, faithful customer like me.

  23. Do FPL customers(ratepayers) know that we are paying for the horrible Sabal Trail fracked gas pipeline that will be a disaster for our environment and whose gas will be SHIPPED OVERSEAS! I called their customer service and their own employees are apparently not even aware of this. I wish there was a class action lawsuit against this as I am totally against this disaster in the making and the only ones who will profit from this are the investors!

  24. I would like to know how our neighbors across the street has power 24 hours before us. And one of the houses does not including 1600 of our homes in this community. Especially since we are near a sub station. We have never had an issue and now we are 3 days without power. For no reason.

  25. I have submitted power outage report and FPL replies that my power has been restored. The power has not been restored nor has a single FPL employee been out to look at the problem of a damaged meter or to validate the voltage at the weather head. The voltage on one leg between the meter and the main service disconnect fluctuates between .3 volts and 92.4 volts on a constant basis, yet they say in their reply to me that the power is restored and the ticket closed.

  26. terrible customer service. It takes forever. very difficult to get a rep on the phone.
    Than I was transferred 3 times, having to give my info 3 times.
    All they do is talk a scripted answer. They don't listen, just keep talking.
    I feel they are price gouging. Bills are way too high.
    we as customers need to stand up against being over charged!
    Especially when customer service is terrible

  28. Wow!!I just read through the complaints on FPL, and I am amazed at the people dissatisfied, why are not they doing something about it? Back 20 years ago we used to have a local office here in Naples. They were some of the most helpful understanding staff I ever seen. Now I can say that they seem to work with me through times of illness and hardship. Now we have had the hurricane 9/11/17 they were kind enough to keep peoples service on that was a few weeks late. I think that the people higher up in the company voted to be considerate to the needs of customers for just a very limited time.I often wonder what happens to peoples deposits? Normal prodigal is they receive it back if they pay on time for 12 months. In that time if they get 1 final notice, or if it is paid on the 16th and due on the 15th it defaults the agreement to return customer deposit.My thoughts are that there is no flexibility or consideration for families that go through normal issues and miss a check, or the mail does not run because a natural disaster or flood.I am beginning to think that the millions of dollars they have collected for depost is used for their own benefit.Think about the money that people do not get returned, maybe they move in say 10 years. FPL has had their deposit for all those years maybe. Could you imagine if they put it in a savings account and earned 5% . Say 500.00 deposit, they might get 5% each month in 12 months that is 300.00 a year. 10 years thats 3.000.00. Imagine that.I disagree with the guidelines of the deposit program. It needs to be addressed, and laid out to be more fair on the people. And default should be in 12 months if a customer builds up 2 months due then default to start again but credit the prior months that was paid on time.just a thought...

  29. I am over FPL. In no way do they help communities or better the environment. FPL is a money hungry greedy company with the least amount of efforts made for their customers. Worst power company I have ever had!! If you have a choice don't choose FPL or any related company and I surely will not be voting in favor of anything FPL ever again!!!! Disgusting!
