  1. Your store in Belle Harbor Queens NY was heavily damaged during hurricane Sandy. I have heard rumors that the store will not be opening again due to the corporation being in bankruptcy... Is this true

  2. Your dairy foods, namely: whipped cream cheese, NY extra sharp cheddar cheese and sour cream are quite good—I buy them all the time. Most everything else is bad. Your canned food is substandard. I just tried your “Cheddar Flavor rice Crisps” and I won’t buy them again. I live in Paumanack Village 1, which is next door to your Greenlawn, NY Waldbaum’s store. Ours is a low rent, development for seniors. Your prices are higher than many, and while I can still drive, I will shop elsewhere for most things. It’s a shame that the Waldbaum’s brand used to be quite good, but you ran that down and out. Please consider that if you improve your brand and bring your prices down, you will do more business. I hope you do, soon. It costs me more in gas, but I prefer Shop Rite. Sincerely, Joyce A. Zucker

    1. Time for a negative comment.

What has happened to customer service? I ran out for a few things at the food store this evening. I get to the front of the store to pay, and there are no cashiers open, just the self service lane. No problem for me, i'm a whiz at these things, however, there was an elderly gentleman (late 70s, early 80s)... He asked the employee who was in charge of watching the self check outs if there was anyone to help him out at a register. His response, no they are on break and the other guy called in sick. Ok. Fair. The elderly gentleman then asked, how long will he be? 10 minutes. Clearly this older gentleman is intimidated by using the self check out.. Ok.. so here is the guy watching the self check outs, who doesn't offer to help him out with self check out.. But let's give him a break and say he is forbidden to move from his little center machine there. Fine. What about the front end manager, who was just standing there, doing NOTHING.. the same front manager who was on the loud speaker system the ENTIRE time i was in the store shouting "DOMINGO, UPDATE ME ON THE BASEBALL SCORE", amongst other things.... Yup, he did N O T H I N G.. He's too good to ring someone out? So here goes the good person in me... I called him over, offered to help, scanned his groceries, bagged his groceries, helped him swipe his credit card, loaded his groceries into his cart.. While they did N O T H I N G. Not asking for praise, Pissed off at customer service.

  3. Witnessed at your Long Beach, NY store. p.s. you should also go to Google maps for this location and look at the comments left about a certain manager.

  5. I have been a shopper in Waldbaums for many years. Think it is time for them to update their freezer area. If Board of Health was to walk in and temp the food in the freezers, boy, would the store be in trouble. The old fashion freezers without doors are no good. The food on the top can not be correct temperature. I actually saw waffles with melted ice on them. I will be calling corporate tomorrow to see what can be done. My store is in Stony Brook NY (Red Lobster Shopping Center)

  7. ANYONE WHO SHOPS AT THESE STORES NEEDS TO WATCH THIS VIDEO. It should be pointed out I have been involved with supermarkets since I was EIGHT! I know everything about them, and was a grocery manager at one time a LONG time ago. Whoever created their policies was smoking CRACK Marijuana and drinking Jello shots at the time LOL. I have NEVER seen a supermarket so DIS-FUNCTIONAL in my entire life. (A) there is always signs for sales, but NO product to sell! When I ask them about this? They respond " the trucks don't bring it " come on, the trucks don't bring it if you DON'T order it! Every supermarket has BACK room, I have WORKED for them all, well not Waldbaulms lol but the others. Came from the old FINEST store 1153 now that was a supermarket. People LOVED working in the supermarket, (B) todays employees? My God they look utterly miserable... and the managers as miserable. The way your treated by their staff? Is DMV style. lol. I have lived in my neighborhood for 3 years and I watched this particular store like a hawk, I KNOW everything about it. I tell you one thing, NO brass comes there. I could write a book on this place. I MUST say there is a few bunch of employees there that are great people, the others HATE their jobs... I mean HATE.

I would like to point out MY time that has been WASTED dealing with these people and their signs! especially their LOONY TUNES REPUBLICAN BS EXCUSES of why a sign is not a sign. SEE its contagious, now I am sound just like em lol.

  8. The new policy of not providing wagons at your Ralph avenue store in Brooklyn is great! Since I didn't have a wagon I could only buy what I could carry! So instead of spending my normal 130-160, I only spent 40! I think it is great the way your helping customers save money!

  9. I walked into a store tonight at 8pm and the whole store had a rank smell as if the freezer section had been down and all products were defrosted. I assumed maybe something had spilled making this smell and proceeded to buy frozen food. I made a big mistake, I arrived home to find the food looked awful, as if it in fact had defrosted and then re-frozen at some point. I will not be going back to that store.

  10. Your Ralp Ave Store in Bklyn has stopped carrying your Breyers Ice Cream - Klondike flavor and my family and I are very upset. It was a big seller and many of the customers there are complaining. Please bring back this item to this particular store. It is a great flavor which we love. Aslo the fact that the store has no sho[[ing carts is ridiculous. You are losing cutpmers because of this. Buy some stopping wagons for your customers. We cannot carry everything we need to buy. I will find another store to shop at.

  11. The store on Ralph Avenue in Brooklyn does not have any shopping carts. This is crazy. Purchase some carts if you want your customers to continue to shop there. We cannot carry all of our items that we need to purchase. Also you stopped carrying Breyers Ice Cream, Klondike flavor. It is a big hit at this particular store and now I was told that it has been discontinued by Corporate. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR CUSTOMERS WHO LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. PLEASE BRING IT BACK ASAP. YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE CUSTOMERS

  13. Waldbaum's at 112-15 rockaway beach channel Dr.ny 11694 in bell harbour Is using propain to run thier floor buffing machines. This propain is giving me headaches causing nusiance and breathing issues. I have spoken to store manager Mr.Joe Prongay and all of our compalints have fallen on death ears. We have spoken to OSHA about this issue and Mr.Joe Prongay has even written a letter which we have a copy of stating that propain is no longer used but to the contrary he continues to give the ok for propain to still be used..Besides the heath issues which we are expirincing many foods in this grocery store are being exposed to propain such as the fruits.vegetables.meats and other foods. We will continuse to reach out to the authorities to bring closher to the use of propain in the food store. In the mean time we highly reccommend that no one buys fruite, vegitables or any kinds of food that are exposed to propain untill Mr.Joe Prongay decides to stop the cat and mouse game and stop the use of propain which is affecting our heath in numerous ways.

They poison the people living in the homes close by with a chiller and diesel generator all operating with no site plan....people are harmed every day for the produce you see.

  17. There's a kitten stuck between the walls at your great neck store since Sunday Dec 15th.
Its going to starve to death if no one gets it out of there.
Your store manager Carlos could care less it seems.
Various media outlets and rescues have been contacted.
You either get the kitten out of there the right way, alive, and a rescue takes it, or I guarantee you everyone I know here and on Facebook, will boycott all your stores. That's a lot of people, and key food is actually closer to me. I will forgo dropping 300$ in food and cat food from now on, and go to key food. 22. I shop at the walbaums in Lindenhurst and I got to tell you that your prices are going up. there was no produce out cause the truck was late. there is no security lots of shop lifting goes on managers no where to be found. I saw a woman who was high stuffing her backpack but no managers to find. when I did find one it was ignored. That stores inventory must be very bad. if you have security there no one ever sees them. In shoprite there is security walking around all the time.I think a stronger management is needed. You have kids working at nights that don't know what is going on maybe you should have secret shoppers in there to see how its run.

  23. Waldbaums in Long Beach. Shoppers be aware and careful!!!! Prices are NOT what they are posted. The product on the shelves say one thing and the cashier says another. It has happened over and over again. Went to buy peaches and expected to pay the price listed on the shelf where the peaches were and they were labeled "organic" and twice as much. I had to return them!!! It happens with all products. It's a ploy to get the unaware customer to spend more. How dare they!!!! Try to go there only on emergencies.

  24. After Hurricane Sandy the Belle Harbor Community was thrilled to have a brand new Waldbaums. The store was clean, the food looked fresh and the shelves were stocked. Unfortunately it only lasted about six months. Let's start with the management!
I have witnessed customers requesting to speak to the manager only to be told that he is unavailable. Shame on him for allowing the cashiers to take abuse from these people while he hides in the back office like a coward. He doesn't care that by doing this, the check-out time is longer, causing customers to become more agitated. One of the biggest problems in this store is the attitude of the employees! Most of the them are extremely unprofessional and rude with the exception of the Seafood Dept.,the Meat Dept. the Dairy Manager and a few cashiers. The prices on the shelves do not reflect the items next to or underneath them and it is a fact that the prices in this Waldbaums are higher than the neighboring stores located in Howard Beach and Flatbush. I personally try to shop in Trader Joe's when time allows and was hoping they would come to Rockaway. Please check out their outstanding customer service and maybe you can educate your employees to be professional and courteous. TRADER JOE'S PLEASE COME TO ROCKAWAY!!!!!!

  26. Waldbaums in Rockaway Beach NY is out of control. The manager Alan should be fired!!!! My mother-in-law that's 88 has been going to that store since day one. So many times she has been spoken to rudely by that man when asking for help. Now that she can't walk well she has started to phone her order in. What a horror story that's been in the last 2 weeks. You have lost a customer that been spending at least $1,000 a month all these years. I just set up her Stop and Shop Pea Pod account where people are treated like humans.

  28. I am writing in response to a situation that occurred with my 12 yr. old daughter and the manager of the Rockaway Beach store on Monday, 01/12/2015 at 9:00 am. My daughter went missing from school that morning and authorities were notified and a search began for her. My wife and the police were searching for her on one end of the Rockaway's, and I searched the other end. Finally, we caught up with each other close by her school. My wife joined me in my vehicle and we resumed our search for her together. Prior to that, a store worker had contacted the school and told the Assistant Principal that my daughter had been found in the store and that they were sending her to the school. Mind you, this was during school hours so I can't understand why no one could realize that if this was during school hours, that that was probably not where she wanted to be, but they send her anyway, by herself. She never showed up at the school and when asked why later on by myself, I was told that in hindsight, she should've been held there until an adult or school official, or police for that matter, arrived to pick her up. In having a conversation with the manager of this store as to why he would allow a minor to go out on her own, especially after they say she was shoplifting, I was told by this man that she didn't look like a minor. He told me that he didn't have any up close and personal dialog with my child, but prior to that, told my wife and the officers that he personally spoke with her. When I told this man that if anything happened to my daughter, Waldbaums would hear from my lawyer, his response was, " DO what you gotta do"! That in turn told me that he didn't give a care about my child's well being, not that he had to but, her mother was just in there with 2 Police Officers, crying her heart out to this man, and this was his response to me. I didn't approach him in any sort of aggravated manner like it was his fault for anything at all, but I think as an adult, he should have and could have shown a lot more concern for a child's well-being, anything other than, your problem, not mine. To put icing on the cake, after she was found and brought back to the school safe and unharmed, we went back over to the store so that I could show him that she was indeed a minor and all of 12 yrs. old and was told by the manager, " Well, at least they found her"! Mind you, at this time was when he lied and told me that he never had any up-close and personal dialog with my daughter. I'm not a trouble maker and I pride myself on being an easy-going man, but in reading some of the stories on this complaint page, I will say this store has a really bad problem in having this store manager in charge. I will proceed with "Doing what I gotta do", to make assurance that the Waldbaums company does what they have to do to prevent this manager from ever making decisions that can have both parties regretting the alternative choices he could've made at the time when he made them. Please do not discard this writing as a simple threat, it is not. The man with whom your company chooses to run this store has a serious problem with people satisfaction, if that's a good way to put it. I'm not the the one with the problem, just looking for a solution to a problem!

  29. I have a problem in their Tomkins ave store everytime there is a price issue. Today i was buying beer and was treated like scum by a manager named Michelle who for some reason has a problem with anyone who questions her. The sign said Budweiser 18 pack $11.99 yet it came up $13.99 at the register. I informed the cashier who was and always is very polite that it came up wrong to which Michelle replied "no, thats only cans"> I told her the sign did not say that and that in fact the same sign was affixed to a stack of bottled beer around the side behind the end cap. I jokingly asked her "why would I lie to you" to which she replied "I have to check anyway...you're not going to win an argument with me" and then snickered like a wiseass. She then yelled at me "its beer, not jewelry...lets have this discussion when you're sober", as if because I am buying beer I must be drunk. I told her it doesnt matter if its beer or potatoes, if the price is wrong its wrong to which she again replied "its beer for Gods sake, not jewelry" as if my money being my money and not hers is not the relevant issue. her next comment was "just have to have the last word, dont you"? Why oh why is this woman so argumentative and rude to people she doesn't even know? Is the customer wrong even after the manager is shown the correct sign proving the customer right? This store is run like crap and there is no way this woman in particular has any place in so called customer service.

    1. Maybe she is a dry drunk or the spouse of an alcoholic who thinks everyone buying beer is somehow doing something wrong. If the company doesn't want to sell beer they shouldn't. My husband has had the same issue with that bitch being rude when he buys beer as if buying a legal substance is an issue of morality for her to judge.

  30. I shopped at the Belle Harbor Waldbaums in Queens NY. I observed a man eating grapes out of a bag at the produce counter. I asked him if he was buying the bag? He said no-that he was eating a snack!! As he was talking he was putting grapes into his mouth and then putting his WET fingers back into the bag. So I told him that he was spreading bacteria that could be very harmful to people. He laughed and said he does this all the time!! I then went to a employee who was packing different on shelves and explained to him what had happened!! The disgusting man ( who was eating the grapes) followed me and he told the employee the same story. The employee did NOTHING! He just continued to place produce on the shelves!!! I just filed a complaint with the corporate office! P.S. In the latest Consumer Reports magazine they rated all national supermarkets from one (the best) to 60 (the worst). Guess where Waldbaums was rated? ABSOLUTE LAST!!!!!

  31. Today I tried to by some fish, claims and lobsters at your 440 South Service Road, Patchogue, NY 11772 store (Sunwave Shopping Center) in the seafood section and the rude employee (heavy set older gentleman) who was working the counter prevented me from getting the products I needed. When I arrived at the counter and after standing there for several minutes, I said Hi and he just looked at me and continued to go about his business after several more minutes, with him walking in and out of the back and ignoring me, I finally left to purchase my seafood elsewhere. It is outrages to be in the service industry and treat people like this. I will never buy seafood at this store if I see this employee at the counter.

  32. I had an unpleasant experience today at the East Meadow store. I came this morning at 7:15AM to return an unopen South Beach snack that was purchased by mistake. There was no one at the service desk (sign on desk said open at 8:00am) but there was a person was next to the customer automated register stations. I asked her if she could help and she said I should go to the customer desk and when I said it opens at 8:00 she was very impatient and impolite, and actually raised her voice at me. I confronted her and ask why she is yelling at me, she denied saying she just answer my question. I went back to the customer service station, there was a person on the second floor that would clearly saying she is not coming down and asked that I get help from the person I was just yelled at (name is with me). I gave up, bought a few grocereies and as I was heading back I saw the manager, when I described the interaction with that person, she (the person claimed that I was the one raising the voice). He took her side and that was it. No wonder people are migrating to Fairway market a mile away.
