  1. I would like to acknowledge the "outstanding" Shaw's in Clinton MA. The employees are friendly, hardworking and very helpful. I have seen a great change in the prices and now make Shaw's Clinton my #1 choice for purchasing groceries. Congratulations and Great Job to all the employees there!

    1. you must totally don't know how to shop. I shopped at Shaw's for years until I figured out they were ripping me off big time. I bought a Coronado ham for Easter at Market Basket 1.99 a pound. Checked the prices at Shaw's $ 3.49 a pound why? If you look at there new signage never more than than 3 customer's 3at a register it's because nobody shops there there a total rip off

  2. Shaw's is still in business?! How is this possible with such terrible management...I know they were bought out one time too many, and closed many stores: leading to so many lay-offs--undoubtedly because of the deplorable strategy and layout of this corporation--but, it's amazing how there are still stores left. Prices must be ludicrous...I mean, they always have been: but, really ludicrous.

    1. That was then. Have you been in that store recently? New managers in there are completely rude. The ones that wear a button down shirt. I rather shop at the more expensive Big Y across the street and not see how that young guy manager talks to people. Wish I got his name I would post it on here to tell you all to stay away.

  5. Well I received the worst customer service ever from Amelia in wheaton md in westfield shopping town mall. She was so rude to me and shouting back at me. I bought this gold chain but for some reason it started changing color I got back to the store to complain about it and the lady was rude she even made a racist comment but I wouldn't mention that. This is not the way to treat customers am never going back to the store ever again am glad I got a refund of my money.

  6. store 7579 In Hyde Park, MA
I have been shopping at this store for quite some time.
The people that bag for customer don’t know how to bag.
If you buy a cake they put it sideways in the bag.
Also they just throw the groceries in the bag.
The store manager I believe does care.
Also they don’t take off the old items with have a expired date on them.
The store always looks dirty and the people that work there don’t care.
Also the plants that they have there are always dead. I would not buy any of the plants in that store.
I believe that someone needs to check out that store.
They was a manager at one time which was a great person because he was always around and very helpful I believe he told me
    at his name was Ryan

  7. I have not had a great experience with the Shaw StainMaster carpeting I purchased back in 2010. The carpeting had some discoloration in the landing upstairs, and Shaw is not willing to stand behind their product. I will never buy Shaw carpeting again and recommend you look very carefully at their warranty. I was never actually given a copy of the warranty when I purchased the carpeting but was told that it would cover pet stains. I was mislead.

  8. At the Shaw's in Hyde Park, the lines are absolutely ridiculous; I am 80 years old and just spent over an hour waiting to buy a newspaper and one other item. The reason for this, I was told is that the manager has cut hours and never wants more than two registers open. This has been going on for weeks, and trust me when I tell you all the folks who waited n those long lines with me will now be going somewhere else. Is there any reason WHY an express lane can't be opened? Sincerely, a NEW Stop & Shop customer...

  9. My name is John Mayer and I work at Shaws in Sturbridge MA, slipped and fell on a floor that was mopped with no wet floor signs down, was not given first aid by the manager Cathy and was sent home. If I drove I could have been in an accident due to the back injury, if I walked I would not have been able to get out of the way of an on coming car. So much for safety and care of our staff and customers. Injury attorney here I come.

  10. There is no email for Shaw's customer service that is in working order! The website inquiry is down...big shocker. Get it together, Shaw's! No wonder you're almost out of business,

  11. I disagree, I worked or Shaw's for 18 years and I still feel a connection to the stores because I believe everyone is trying to make the company a better place. The produce needs a lot of work in the NH and VT market but once they get the right team in place you will see an influx of customers dying to purchase produce there. When the corporate office improves their front of the store impression I think customers will find a place to shop again.

  12. was in the shaws store in springfield vt. had disabled people with me. I walked around corner to find someone that works there hollering at another person, that person didn't look like they worked there, but had some type of containers like delivery. we hurried by, and before I left store, I asked to speak to manager as this employee was being really rude and hollering, to my surprise it was the manager doing the hollering. how un professional. she really needs a new job not in customer service. I will not be back. shame on shaws for allowing this behavior.

  13. Yesterday I was in Shaws in Lancaster NH. and this young punk, Andrew, of some type of manager was cursing about another cashier to the other cashiers in front of customers. A older female customer asked him to watch his mouth and he told her to mind her own business. If he said that to me I would of slapped his face. I have seen the assistant manager , Judy, reprimand cashiers in front of customers and other staff. What kind of staff runs the show there. No wonder your sales are down, poor quality produce, rotten managers and always out of sale items. Long lines at registers, dirty floors and filthy carts. I will be shopping at Hanafords 10 miles north from now on. I hope Market Basket comes here and puts your store out of business.

  15. I have been shopping at the Cranston, RI Shaws weekly for the past couple of years. Typically I spend a couple hundred dollars and shop for both my house and my father. I liked the self scanners because I could make sure items were ringing up for the correct sale price. When I found mistakes, the clerk would make the adjustment BEFORE I cashed out. Also I like to bag my own products because I separate items based on which house they are going to. Now they removed the self scanners and it's nearly impossible to check prices as the cashier goes too fast. Also, if I let the baggers bag my items I have to rebag everything to separate my stuff from my dad's. This is a huge inconvenience. I already had to go to customer service to get refunded for products that didn't ring up at the sale price. Of course it is after I've cashed out so it's a real pain and takes even longer. From now on, I will be shopping at Stop & Shop so I can self scan and bag my own products.

  18. I'm a daily customer for the Waterville ME Shaw's. I go in everyday and I notice that a lot of the employees there are always checking in there pockets looking at their cellphones. Especially when customers are checking out. I'm not the type of person to come across these type of papers to report things like this. But, if you're wanting excellent customer service scores, they should be showing that they wanna be there instead of paying attention to there phones. Or run to the bathroom to text there friends back. I've noticed that some of the employees are doing it. Plus, I've caught them doing it when I use the restroom.

  19. Hello I am a regular customer at the shaws in Melrose Ma. On Weds. I went in to purchase a salad from
the salad bar, I made a complete salad, and returned to home. After home I took two bites of the salad
and under One piece of lettuce were I eat from there was a Large alive Cockroach of some sort, I spit
out what was in my mouth and was disgusted to What I saw. I then went right back to Market and asked
for the manager , One manager came over and after I explained and showed him the live Bug, He stated well there is nothing I can do , sorry he replied , I asked him if he was the Store manager , he said no I am the produce manager, and he walked away, wonderful way to treat a customer, then I asked the service desk to please call the store manager , He then came and looked and said wow thats a big bug, I said yes and I ate from this salad with it in it. He said what do you want me to do, I said I want to fill out what ever paper work I need , if I get sick from this I want it on report, His response was well I dont think we have paper work for that , I said are you kidding me, and says I dont think so , He took my name and address, and I then said I would like a refund on this , He did give me back my 8.00. I am very disapointed on the responses I received and expect to have some sort of paper work to fill out , I would expect a call from higher up manager to follow up , will see if one comes

  20. I've been shopping at Shaw's for 20 years. I will not shop there again. My biggest issue is with the Deli department. Very very poor service. It was very common to wait to be served for up 20 minutes. The workers do everything but wait on the customers. They are too busy filling the cases, cleaning up, or talking to each other. They look right at you and then completely ignore you. They never smile, move EXTREMELY slow, and make it seem as if the customer is their lowest priority. The present deli manager there is abrasive and rude as well. There are different employees working the deli seemingly every time I go there. I would ask for a pound of meat and get a 1/2 a pound. The prices on the stickers were often wrong (1 pound of turkey would come out to 69.90 instead of 6.99). The customers get so aggravated with the service that we would often argue with one another, a lot of tension was always felt. One day while I was standing there (for 10 minutes or so waiting to be served), the store manager had all of the department heads in the produce dept. speaking very loudly about how poor of a job they were all doing. All of the customers in the area, including myself could hear the whole conversation. I never went to the deli and got accurate, friendly, and quick service. Never. I had gotten to know a lot of the employees and was comfortable shopping there, but not with the deli. Now, I will shop at Stop and Shop exclusively. Their service is far and above, no comparison. Pleasant people, great deli, a seafood department that is actually set up by 8:00 in the morning, when I typically shop, fully stocked shelves, and a superior produce dept. The deli completely ruined Shaw's for me. Your shopping experience shouldn't cause you stress, and your store always did.

When I went back an looked at the sign In very small letter it you have to buy 6..
If you have to buy 6 The letter should be as big as the .99 cents .Its there way of rip you off ..

  24. If your looking for a place to shop that has no lines and gets you in and out in record time this is the place. Chances are you may be the only person in the store along with the 3 cashiers chatting it up because they've got nothing to do.

This may be the worst supermarket chain in North America with over inflated prices and employees with a sense of self entitlement.

There are two mysteries in the retail world. The biggest is Radio Shack and a close second is Shaw's. If your into supermarket memorabilia buy some of Shaw's signage because it maybe worth something when they're out of business in a couple of years.

  25. Here's an experience that I had with Shaws Catering Services that I would like to share. Everyone who is considering catering from Shaw's in Hillsboro: I have never ordered any platters from Shaw's, but a couple of weeks ago, for my daughter's bridal shower, I ordered several different platters: Fruits, buffalo chicken wings, cheese and crackers, and the main staple was supposed to be small sandwiches such as ham, seafood & chicken salad etc. I picked everything up around 10:00, guests arriving at 1:00. Everything looked nice, really. When I brought out the sandwich platter from the fridge, all looked good. But then one of our guests was wondering why the black pepper on those pretty sandwiches was moving around. Yes, that's right, there were tiny little bugs crawling on top and inside of the meats. They emerged from the kale they were presented upon, I'm guessing. What is also disgusting is the fact that the manager only wanted to reimburse the price for those nasty little things when I brought them back and acting like this was a generous and fair gesture. Well, I was able to get a $20 gift card out of this plus the cost of the sandwiches. I think they should have reimbursed the total order plus a generous gift card. Shaw's is the only grocery store in Hillsboro NH, otherwise I wouldn't shop there again.

  29. I assume you are closing the store in Cedarville, otherwise it is inexplicable that you manage this location the way it is presently run. Besides being poorly and inconsistently stocked, perishables past expiration dates, dirty store and in general the staff indifferent to customers, your recent transfer of staff in the meat and produce department was designed to have all the unhelpful staff in one place, I have never written a consumer letter before, but before I shop exclusively at the Market Basket in Bourne, I just felt compelled to say so long after 10 years of faithful shopping.

  36. I guess that this box will have to suffice, as there isn't any other way to inform you of the intellect, persona, and all out attitude to please the customer from your Store Director Lee Bissonnette of Shaw's Market, located at 8 Chapel View, Cranston, R.I. 02920. I've met a lot of people in high echelon positions, but never one that was so hell bent on pleasing the customer.
In my opinion, this person should be in a position that can show the Powers That Be how to run a business. I will tell everyone I know about this store, mainly about the store Director. Accolades are one thing, but going above and beyond the call of duty are exemplary.

Reading some of the comments about the stores products, in my opinion, they are distributors of bought products from other sources. It would be totally impossible to monitor these products. It should be done where they are processed, this my fellow shoppers is called, Quality Control. If it happens often, then it's time for a change.. It's not like that aren't sorry for the mishap, but they will go the extra mile to please you. That is enough for me. They stand behind what they sell, even if it means taking a loss.

  37. I usually shop at the Shaw's market on River Street in Waltham, Ma., and as a rule they have very good bargains. The only complaint I have had is dealing with the deli department, and when taken this to any manager at the store, it is not dealt with good customer service. I've been very inconvenienced several times, and think that a good customer should be treated much differently. This is not a way to keep a customer. I'm also going to give the corporate office a call now that it has happened a number of times.

  38. Hello,
I would like to commend the wonderful, friendly and helpful staff at the Shaw's in Hyannis on West Main ST. They are always very helpful and take me right to my questioned product and offer advice on meets and deli. I find this supermarket to be a nicely melded mix of small local grocery store charm but big box values. My problem, is or I should reword that to request is that I am on a diet that utilizes a point value system in which you can scan foods and get the points, but the internet doesn't work and my cell Internet can't connect at your store. If you could please provide a free Shaw's Wii service I bet people would spend more time in your store, in my case, scanning thus more buying. But also in the case of the mom with her hands full because the kids can't connect to play a game on the iPhone. I hope you consider this request and open an Internet connection in the near future. Otherwise it is a pleasure to shop in your store.
    Thank you,
    Dawn M

  39. I want to recognize Daniel, the Store Director in Middlebury, VT, for very attentive, excellent service. I just stopped in during my lunch break, and I was waiting at the deli counter to get some chicken. There were several customers being waited on, and I decided not to wait any longer since I needed to get back to work. As I was walking away, Daniel noticed, stopped me and offered to help me. He quickly got my chicken, and I told him I appreciated his help. When I got to the registers, there were customers in each line, and again Daniel noticed this and brought me over to the customer service desk. He asked the person there to help me because he thought I was on my lunch break and needed to get back to work; he realized that even though I hadn't actually said that. Some of my co-workers in the past have commented that they had thought the service at our Shaw's wasn't very good, and so they prefer to shop at Hannaford's instead. I made a point of telling them about my experience, and I will certainly continue to shop at Shaw's in Middlebury. I hope Daniel's efforts will be recognized by your company.

  41. Shelves barely wide enough apart to stack two cans on causing you to have to cut your fingers trying to get the one you want. Name products down at the floor while at eye level is "Essentials". Take the front cans out and there's nothing behind the name brand items. Essentials shelves, at eye level, are stocked full! Managers who gloat that Shaw's has forced all competitors out of the area when attrition was the reason for other companies to leave the area. Gloating that their prices are better than Narket Basket. They must get a discount! Oh yes that's right they do. Which store? I'm sorry but I won't get into a debate as it has been panned already here. I can't say I have experienced the other person's problem but I will say I will drive to Henniker, Antrim, Claremont (Mkt. Bskt., Hannaford, Walmart)bypassing Newport or even Concord rather than going to Shaws! They're not going to change anything no matter how much we complain but sooner or later they will GO DOWN! Just not soon enough!

  42. I searched and searched for a way to voice my comments to Shaw's in a way they may actually receive and this was all I could fine so I do hope acknowledgement of receipt will happen to know this is not all in vein. I want to compliment the Shaws Management team in N.Conway, NH as last night I had a return (yes, without a receipt as who keeps grocery receipts?) The product was bad and they were very helpful and wonderful. Ryan and his manager were both working the service counter. This is NOT the case when I also had a return at the Shaws in Wyndham, Maine. The girls behind the counter were very unprofessional and refused to accept my return/exchange without a receipt. The manager was called in and things continued to be an argument, I can't say enough about the contrast of my experience with the two stores. I will not shop at Shaw's in Windham, Maine again - fortunately N. Conway, NH still gets my business.

  45. In regards to the Monopoly game, I agree, it should go. My husband and I normally don't shop there but have been going there more recently for the chance to win something with the Monopoly game. A couple of weeks ago my husband was checking out and the cashier, quite blatantly right in front of him, gave some yellow Monopoly game pieces to a fellow employee. The other employee even said "I really shouldn't be playing this, we could get in trouble." The cashier said "Don't worry about it." My husband was stunned and furious. We were under the impression that Shaw's employees were not allowed to play. Guess he and I should not be surprised when a "friend" of a Shaw's employee ends up winning the big prizes when the game ends in May. My husband now wants to shop elsewhere and swears it's a scam to pull in more shoppers to get them to falsely believe they have a chance at winning. Beforehand I would've told him he was paranoid. Now, I'm not so sure. Especially since we've been playing the Monopoly game almost since it started and have only gotten the green game pieces (and we've been visiting several different Shaw's locations in our state, to no avail). Apparently those yellow game pieces are the coveted prize pieces and Shaw's employees hand them over to each other. Nice. Real nice.

  46. My boyfriend and I had a pretty crappy experience at Shaw's in West Lebanon, NH last night. He has now banned them and will never shop there again. We were both buying items that had a limit of how many you could buy, we were purchasing with separate orders and do this all the time - never an issue... we're told the limit applies to both of us because we are shopping together. We both told him we don't even live together and I said we could even show him our licenses have different addresses - he said no it didn't matter because they saw us come in the store together... Are you kidding me?!?! What about people taking an elderly parent or grandparent shopping, or a friend or neighbor without a car etc. I guess people aren't allowed to shop together anymore?!?! Very poor customer service!

  47. Why Does the Easton Ma store have a bagger who smells very badly and is visibly dirty. I am not a mean person but it is a very bad situation. I would wait in a mile long line before he ever touches my food. I wouldn't mind but he has been there a long time. I find it hard to believe that it doesn't bother other shoppers and that his appearance is tolerated by management.

  48. I would've loved to have emailed my store directly. Not a huge deal, but didn't notice a bottle of liquid smoke was chipped and super sharp. Cut the bejeezus out of my palm opening it. Wanted to ask them to check their stock so it doesn't happen to others, but can't find email for my store...hello?

  50. I just left the Star Market in Quincy. I would like to commend the cashier for handling herself with such self control. There an elderly woman verbally attacking the cashier, and the cashier was so poised and professional. I told the elderly woman she was being unreasonable and she came close to me and told me to "Shut up". So again, I just want to commend the cashier for handling herself so professionally!!
