  1. maybe you should have your agents take time to stay in contact with their customers. I am talking about one in particularly. I know you don't want to part with any of the money but if you want people business don't upset the customers you have, they have access to the internet.

  2. REVIEW OF THE HARTFORD AARP INSURANCE PROGRAM:

If you are thinking about joining the AARP auto or home insurance program offered through The Hartford insurance company, think again – and while you are at it, think about the AARP itself. We were policyholders and participants in this abysmal program for nearly four years, and I have been an AARP (formerly American Association of Retired Persons) member for nearly 30 years. During that period, I have never dealt with a worse insurer, nor a worse agency for seniors!
Taking The Hartford first, they appear to low-ball their initial auto and home insurance costs in order to attract business, while making promises to people that they do not fulfill. In our case, although we never had a single claim under either home or auto policy – no occurrences, no accidents, no tickets, no claims, we have been the poster kids for outstanding insurability – our rates went up with each policy renewal, and those increases were never explained. This year, as a retired professor of insurance among other subjects as well as a policyholder, I decided to press The Hartford as to why our auto premium went up over 30%! Not only could they not explain that, they told me I had no right to that information as it was “proprietary” to The Hartford. That is not only bull, it is a falsehood as any policyholder has an absolute right to know how his rate is set. The Hartford also refused to provide the promised 5% premium reduction on both policies in their third year, again giving no real reason for the denial, while admitting that premium cut had indeed been promised to us. Finally, The Hartford cannot even make routine policy changes such as changing vehicles or policy provisions efficiently; most times, they mess up something and it takes repeat emails or phone calls to get that mess up corrected. Too bad The Hartford’s arrogance is not matched by competence -- our overall experience with The Hartford rises to senior abuse! Luckily, there are many good competent insurers out there – choose one!
As for the AARP itself, they absolutely refuse to take the slightest responsibility for all that senior abuse by The Hartford; the AARP executive level disclaims any responsibility for the errors and blunders by its chosen insurer, while it is busily telling seniors “how to have the best sex of your life” and how to get a horoscope from the AARP (both found on their website, along with trying to sell us seniors a bunch of stuff we neither need nor want.) Not too long ago, the AARP got a multi-million-dollar grant from Toyota to promote senior safe driving – meanwhile adding a substantial fee charged to seniors to take the AARP safe driving course which had previously been offered gratis, free, in the interest of our safety. That type of “double dipping” is typical of the slimy tactics used by the AARP to appear to have the best interest of us seniors at heart – when, actually, the main interest the AARP protects is their inflated staff salaries. This once-noble organization is an utter disgrace!
Both this insurer and this senior organization appear to us as very untrustworthy! BE WISE, BEWARE both The Hartford & The AARP, and particularly their joint insurance program!

  3. As a 25 year The Hartford customer, we've just been SCREWED by them.

WE own two homes in two different states that were covered along with several vehicles. We were staying at our second home for over three weeks when The Hartford sent a letter to our "main home", where the insurance is written out of, telling us we had until 20 Nov to get a new roof on the second home.

No problem, right? Well, except we didn't even get the letter until 10 days before their "do it by then date". Obviously there was no way to get it done in that time frame. Called TH and explained the situation with a response, "NO PROBLEM AS LONG AS THE NEW ROOF IS INSTALLED BEFORE THE RENEWAL DATE".

Thinking everything was okay, we got set up with a contractor to do the work. We returned back to our main home and we have another "nice" letter waiting for us. YOU are CANCELLED AS OF THE RENEWAL DATE BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T GET THE ROOF INSTALLED IN The Hartford's SPECIFIED TIME FRAME.. 180 degree reversal on our previous phone calls.

Emailed TH and was again told, EVEN IF YOU GET THE ROOF REPLACED YOUR POLICY WILL NOT BE RENEWED IN 2016.

So much for being a good TH customer for over 25 years! Every customer service person I talked to understood the problems associated with this comedy, but NO ONE WANTED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT??

BOTTOM LINE. THE HARTFORD wanted out of this other state and this was their back door method of getting it done. DISGUSTING..

The Hartford wants some PR work done for them! I will for sure advise everyone I know about this slime company and the way they work. BAD NEWS travels forever and this BAD NEWS is just getting warmed up.. Just getting everything ready to file a complaint with the other states Insurance Commission, not that it will do anything except maybe give them a slap on the wrist.

  4. I AM FRUSTRATED ALSO WITH THE HARTFORD COMPANY. WE WERE INSURED BY THEM YEARS AGO AND LEFT THE COMPANY BECAUSE THEY KEPT RAISING OUR RATES FOR NO REASON.

BUT THE MAIN REASON I AM MAKING THIS COMMENT IS THE DEATH OF MY BROTHER. HE WAS WITH THIS COMPANY. HE PASSED AWAY IN JAN. OF 2015. I NOTIFIED THEM OF HIS DEATH AND I BELIEVE HIS DAUGHTER DID ALSO. SINCE THEN THEY HAVE BEEN SENDING ADVERTISING LETTERS TO MY HOUSE WITH HIS NAME. ONE HE DIDN'T LIVE HERE, I HAD HIS MAIL FORWARDED FOR A SHORT TIME TO DEAL WITH BUSINESS AFTER HIS DEATH. TWO, I CALLED FIVE TIMES ASKING THE COMPANY TO TAKE HIS NAME OFF THE MAILING LIST. I KEPT BEING TOLD THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT, NOT! TO THIS DAY I AM STILL GETTING MAILINGS WITH HIS NAME ON IT REMINDING ME OF MY LOSS.

SO I ASK, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO THINK? THERE MUST BE A LOT OF PEOPLE WORKING THERE THAT DON'T HAVE A CLUE OR JUST DON'T CARE TO BOTHER TO HONOR MY REQUEST. THIS MAY NOT SOLVE MY PROBLEM BUT IT MAKES ME FEEL A LITTLE BETTER GETTING IT OFF MY CHEST.

PEOPLE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
