  1. Hi i am the biggest user of yankee candles i dont know how many i've bought in the past 20years but lately im not so happy with them, the black smoke that comes out of the jar when its lit, then when you blow them out they smoke for ages and a burning piece dropped on my rug and left a hole when i blew it out, the jar itself turns black around the rim, and my ceiling is black from where the candle sits and burns, this is not the only candle, i've lit other ones and there the same, my friends are having the same problems with their's, which they have changed to soya candles which they say are fantastic, i love my yankee candles but am losing heart, i might have to join my friends with their soya choice....not a happy customer Sandra Mulraney...

    1. I have always enjoyed the different scents of yankee candle....I noticed over the past couple of years that I cannot smell the candles as well as in the past. I read somewhere when yankee candle went public it changed it's formula....It has now been over a year and I will not buy anymore items from yankee canlde. I have noticed in the past that there was some blaack soot, but did not appear to be any worse than other candles.

Does anyone know where I may make a complaint regarding the amount of oil put into their products?

  2. Am a huge fan of Yankee Candle, have been for many years. Was excited last week when I saw that you would be presenting the Halloween line in stores and on line. Also, adding to the excitement was it was to be a tax-free weekend here in Florida. ( something that doesn't happen every year here) Well... Saturday morning I arrived at my local YC just as they opened, along with at least 40 other YC hopefuls. Although I did very well in my purchases that morning, I still was unable to get everything I had hoped before the items were sold out. The friendly YC associates were reassuring that I could probably shop on the web and get the other items. Fortunately, they were right. However, I noticed I was being charged for tax.... I thought, naively that it was an oversight on YC website and once I spoke to someone this morning it would be "fixed". Sadly, I was informed by a C. service supervisor that YC "does not recognize the tax free law in any other state except Massachusetts, as this is where they are located" and what's more, "they are not required to". Which I'm certain is true. The total tax I spent was just a little over eight dollars.... So why am I disappointed? I shopped other company's the same day that were located in other states that "honored" or "observed" Florida's tax- free weekend. I started this comment with I'm a huge YC fan, and still am. Just a little bittersweet about it.

    1. I'm a huge fan as well, but was disappointed that most of the "hot" items were sold out so quickly. I hope they get more stock in, as we get closer to Halloween.

    2. Dear Folks at Yankee.

I never thought in a million years that I would ever feel the need to take the time out of my day to spend time to write to ask you what happened to my Yankee candle?

I purchased six candles direct from Yankee - simple ? Three Vanilla, Three Sweet Pea. Both burned, and yet to smell that scent Yankee has been so praised over.

Ok, so I bought them direct from Yankee, maybe they are defective, Yankee had them priced pretty cheap - so I got hood winked on the remaining four jars, maybe I can re-gift over the holidays.

But my second concern, o.k. hood winked by a discount, but four weeks ago - big sale at my local store, where there is no way I could get snookered on scent, I'm buying retail this time, RIGHT?

Well, six large canisters of sent, and yet to smell that whole house sent, Yankee Candle has become America's favorite candle maker. After all that why I pay $28.00 a candle for - the famous lingering sent, which has made me for a customer for over 17 years.

Well, after seventeen years, I never thought I would be writing to asked what happened to Yankee, lost the edge. raised the cost, and took out the lingering sent, but hood winked me out of my cash. I'm stuck with about eleven different canisters of wax, not my Yankee Candle anymore.

Now I know, you can possibly say I have lost my sent, not so much, I can still smell burning rubber from 5 miles away, just can't smell my Yankee Candle anymore.

But it has become a pain in the hand to clean up over - black burn stains, lingering smoking, and lack of scent, what happened to Yankee ? - Yankee go Home - hood winked too long now, stuck with a lot of unburned candles, and out a lot of cash.

      Shame on you Yankee

  6. Yankee Candle needs to start looking into their managers at certain stores. I went to Yankee Candle in Naples FL while on vacation and the manager was completely rude to me. She was on the shorter side like myself and had like a reddish purple long hair and glasses She did not help me in anyway as she was speaking with a blonde girl behind the register kinda on the chunky side. They were not in proper attire. When I asked for help they said give me a moment but never came to help me so I walked out. I have never been treated this was in the Flagship store when I go home to MA. Back home they are so professional and helpful compared to those two ladies down in Naples. I will never be going back to that store. Very unhappy customer.

  7. JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS - YANKEE CANDLE FIRE STARTERS BURN MORE THAN FIRES - MY HUSBAND HAS A 1-1/2 X 3 INCH BURN ON HIS ARM THAT WAS CAUSED BY A BURST FROM ONE OF THESE "FIRE STARTERS" - HOWEVER, YANKEE CANDLE DOESN'T ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FACT THAT THIS POT OF WAX BUBBLED AND BURST OUT INTO MY FAMILY ROOM AND CAUSED THE INJURY. OH WELL, BIG BUSINESS - JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT THEY CAN DO.

  8. Yankee Candles have become inferior in quality. At first light, smell permeates room. Candle is nearly at full level and the smell is completely gone. Sorry to say friends and I will not be purchasing any more. It's too bad that Yankee Candle is just about money and not quality anymore. I quess they followed the trend of corporate America.

  9. I also used to love these candles but now ,,,the black smoke ..only smells good for awhile. Very unhappy with the quality over the years. Am still looking for another brand but no more yankee candles...anyone know what happened to this brand? I loved getting these as gifts and giving them as gifts....no more.

  10. I have been a happy customer until recently. The store in Arlington Hts. Il. used to be a fun place to shop until the new employees came. I went with one purpose and that was to buy more clean cotton plug ins for my house! The girl would not leave me alone and told me what a horrible sent that was, even though it is rated as your top 10 scents by apartment therapy-not to mention I liked it! She told me I need beach walk because she liked it! After I smelled it and told her I did not like it she told me to stop raising my voice with her! Really!
That is not acceptable! passive aggressive and rude NO more Yankee Candle for me!

  12. Unfortunately after shopping at Yankee Candle for over ten years and spending an obscene amount of money on these products I have bought my last candle. After spending forty minutes picking out all my holiday candles at the Pheasant Lane Mall store I was told by the clerk that they would not accept my check. When I asked why not I was told the computer said I had invalid Identification. The clerk nor anyone else in the store could not tell me what that meant. The only thing they could tell me is it means we won't take your check. Needless to say it was quite humiliating considering there were other customers in the store. So I left with no candles no information and not even a number to call. As soon as I got home I called Yankee Candle corporate offices who informed me they had no idea why that happened but gave me the number of a company named certegy to call. Certegy come to find out is a company that screens for bad checks . After what seemed to be an eternity on the phone with them it seems that this was a complete error on the part of Yankee candle. Invalid Identification by the way means your ID is fraudulent. They never even asked to see my ID at the Nashua store. If they do refuse your check they are supposed to give you the number for certegy right there so you can straighten it out before you leave the store. So a faulty computer system at Yankee candle ruined my day off caused me much undue humiliation and rendered me candleless. Well I'm sure I'll find an expensive online candle company that will love my money just as much as Yankee. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN YANKEE CANDLE AGAIN!!!!!!!

  13. I have been buying Yankee Candles for years. Lately I have had two candles break on me. One was lit and I heard a boom and the glass exploded. The second one I went to pick up and the glass broke in my Hands. Now this is tempered glass and should not be breaking. I am afraid that lighting your candles will cause a fire. I have called your office and I feel they dismissed the issue. That is not a way to do business.

  14. I am so disappointed in Yankee Candle! They sold me 4 Fresh Burst's balls and 6 can's of spray to be used as House Gifts. They were purchased 2 years ago and now they no longer carry the refills. I checked on Amazon and the prices are exceptionally high for a discontinued product. When I spoke to customer service they wouldn't even accept a return on the holders!!! At least if I purchase a product in good faith from Kohl's (who happen to carry Yankee Candle) they will refund with no questions asked. What am I suppose to do with these round holders???? I think its time to stop going to the Yankee Candle stores!!! They better rethink their product line and support!! They won't stay in business if they don't!!!

  15. Have bought hundreds upon hundreds of your candles throughout the years, but will never buy again. They are nothing but junk now.

  16. I have to agree with all the above comments about the complete change of the Yankee Candles. I have spent a lot of money in the past but no more. Black smoke and coating over everything nearby. Wicks constantly splitting, sparking, etc. No more Yankee candles for me.

  17. I bought a car air freshener and I am not happy after a week there is no fragrance (Pinks Sands Smart Vent Clip) that is quite disappointing seeing that I love the candles I was expecting to have the same result with the car vent.

  18. I have always been a huge fan of Yankee Candles, and even overlooked the higher price of them because I did love the scents, however, within the few years I am finding myself very disappointed!!! While the candles smell lovely unlit, as do the less expensive ones, I am finding the once they are lit, there is no real scent anymore!!!!! I recently purchased a two candle set at my local bed, bath and beyond, both candles were Christmas scents, one being Christmas greenery scent, which I thought would too strong, well to my amazement, neither candle smelled at all after being lit for several hours. I hate to say this but that was probably my last purchase of your product. Such a shame, I really did enjoy them
