  1. Hello, I would like to complain about the ongoing personal verbal domestic abuse that seems to going on between two of your Hispanic staff members at the Belmont St. location in Chicago, IL . Here are some comments made by them while on duty:

    "You are too long!"
"You might just stay out of here!"
    "I cook!"
"You know I need to F..K here!"
"I know it doesn't stand that way!"
    "I didn't see you!"
    "They're right huh!"
    "Wanna keep screamin' at me!"
    "They talks with Ms. McLaine?"
"I want someone to keep 'em stratight!"
    "I'll blow you down!"
    "I;m here!"
    "You slut!"
    "Yall can sit perfectly!"
    "I can pick me!"
    "I hate it!"
"You let us be doing it today!"
    "I ruin this everyday!"
"Just wanna make sure I'm the one who says first of all!"
"They can really hit at the teacher!"
    "He punched!"
    "You're my life!"

Would someone please speak to these staff members at this location about such unprofessionalism on the job.
I do not feel that I and other members should have to listen to such verbal abuse while they are on desk duty.

    Totally Offended

  2. I don't like your policy of not allowing your guest to go to other clubs that are not the one you enrolled in. Not only does it get boring, but its really rude the times I have tried to bring guests to other clubs. The mangers you hire are rude and unprofessional.

  5. Xsport is just a greedy commercial gym who only care about sucking every dollar from the customer as well as underpaying their employees and treating them like garbage. This gum will be out of business in the next 10 years because they don't give a dam about their customers or employees.

  7. I am writing this letter to express my concern and the discrimination I experienced mainly from your Assistant Manager at your Massapequa, NY location on 11/4/14 @ approximately 12pm. I initially called to ask the price of the membership as my son use to have a membership with his father there and wished to have another. His father discontinued his membership there because of the poor customer service he experienced. My son requested for me to purchase another one because he loves your facility and wished to play basketball there with his friends. The Assistant Manager initially was rude on the phone; however I still came to the facility. When I arrived I asked if there was someone else I could deal with because he was rude over the phone. He stated there was no one else I could deal with and there was a “mandated” tour I had to do before purchasing the membership. I attempted to explain I just wanted to purchase as we already were aware of the facility he became belligerent and said this is the way it works. His customer service was awful. I did not want to take a tour as I just had a car accident and was not prepared to do so physically. I asked why he was being so rude, he then indicated and I quote “We don’t want your business we don’t need your business”. I don’t know if he treats your customers this way or maybe it’s because I am an African American Woman. I just know it was uncalled for as I didn’t use any profanity or anything all I did was ask a question. There were three men there. The man with the muscles ripped the paper out of my hand saying this X- Sports property and said I have to ask you to leave. The other man seemed to be pleasant he was black and didn’t say anything. When I left I was so shocked I never felt so disrespected and mistreated. I think it is more unpleasant that he kept saying he was the Assistant Manager, and his condescending tone. He should be ashamed that he was exhibiting such behavior in front of his staff and other customers. Although I am just the consumer and my opinion may not count; he may need some type of training in customer service skills especially if the goal is to obtain and maintain memberships. It would be great to have this addressed with both of them to avoid this with others.

  8. Obviously XSport doesn't understand the reason for having a customer service phone number...really? Over an hour waiting and no one ever answers the phone. Ridiculous and frustrating!!

  11. It would appear that some assistance is needed throughout the company and not just in the Chicagoland area. Maybe I can be of assitance. I'm a current MBA Student and a member of one of the sights themselves. I can see where there are some easy fixes but I can also see where some TLC is much needed. I'm available to discuss any and all observations. Please feel free to contact me at your convience.

    Hoping You Are Well,

    S.H.

  13. This gym signed me up for the 29 dollar deal. Than they i was told i can get four free classes to try out, one of the mens classes. Three months later i found out i am being charged 55 dollars a month for these classes. I was told one thing, i feel ripped off. I was also charged for an energy drink i never purchased. That was 51 dollars an after i signed the two year membership an payed it off i was still being charged 29 dollars a month. This gym an there salesman manipulated me, the gym is ok. But i have been part of other gyms an have never been ripped off like this. I would suggest no one to come here unless, they like to be ripped off.

  14. To all the posters here - it may help to know that the real issue with this company is not actually the employees but the owners. If the employees seem rude or inattentive to your needs or requests it may be that they are being mistreated by the management and owners. I know someone who works for them ( has for years) and they report that the interior operations have deteriorated over time and the focus has moved from providing real training (considerable loss of clientele) to selling specials and supplements etc.

All indications of a business in trouble are observable, they have overextended themselves, lease expensive space, staff is not always qualified and resort to specials and pushing items not related to physical fitness. This can and does create infighting between staff, lack of commitment to the client and a general lack of professionalism

Staff are threatened if they dont push these other items and for some of them who really believe in what they are trying to do for their clients it requires they compromise to keep income or obs. If you arent a "team Player" they can take your clients away and of course for you as the client they dont care.
Another odd thing I have heard is that they have very little automation in the business, still cut checks to their staff (no direct depost), refunds are losts, commisions reduced - a bit sloppy.

So the point here is that the other complaints you read on this page are for the most part correct, but cause was not really understood. It is not always the staff, its the circumstances of the employment.

  15. Good luck trying to find anybody with the actual parent company [Capital Fitness Inc. in Big Rock, IL]. Because it is a family owned company, they don't have to file any public documents. After some serious digging, it looks like they are using the cash flow from their health clubs to buy hotels and apartment buildings. So they don't care about customer service at their clubs. They expanded too fast, don't support this business and it is going into the toilet. "Shady" and "dishonest" are words that are probably too nice to describe this company.

  16. Gym does have great amenities and best of all it is 24/7 and would deserve a 5/5. Place does tend to be packed and a bit unorganized during peak hours, but which gym isn't. However, that is not my dispute today.

Be careful when renewing contract. My contract was ending on the end of May 2015. When I inquired the manager at the State St location, I was told I could renew with exactly the same terms when I first join. That however is false. Now, I was billed $9 in January and $39 February 2016.

Upon calling customer service I was told by the customer service manger, Mike, the person that signed me for my contract put me month to month for $39 a month. That's strange considering I made $455 in one full payment so why would I go month to month? Unfortunately he is unwilling to fix my contract, but is willing to compensate me for 3 months when I should have service until May of 2017. I was told to look at my contract, but I am unable to as it was destroyed during a basement flood and was denied a copy. Upon further discussion he simply said "Have a nice day," and hung up. Talk about great customer service. Had I known I was being $39 I would have never signed up.

Being a full time student with low funds, $420+initiation fees for 2 years is a deal I could afford. This is a bait and switch scheme and I implore others to be aware.

  18. Started at the Logan Square location. I like the gym for the most part, and that it is open 24/7. The set up machines from down stairs to upstairs is a little frustrating since you cant ease into the next machine but instead have to walk upstairs.

The steam room, sauna and bathroom is unfortunately extremely disappointing. They are not cleaned! I have been watching for almost 8 weeks now and come at all different times to see if it is just a specific cleaner that does not do their best job. I have concluded it is ALL of them. My boyfriend and I go together and he has stated the men's locker room is the same. I checked out the Skokie location, and their locker room, steam room and sauna are pretty much spotless! I know the Logan location is older but there is no need for the steam room to smell so bad you cant step foot into it. When I do brave the foul smell of mold in the steam your breathing you can feel slime on the walls and seats. The dim lights they have must be to hide the mold and grime that is growing. When you do dare to look up you can see mold all in the light fixtures. I have texted the "Manager" a few times but it hasn't changed. It is very unfortunate because I would go to Skokie because they are clean, but then I have to pay an additional $10 a month. I guess that is for "clean" amenities- I thought that was just up to code. The showers smell like urine and the cleaners spend most of their time gossiping and chit chatting with the customers. Sometimes 20+ minutes at a time.

Which leads me to the staff! Well lets just say that the staff thinks they are running a night club. They are the most unprofessional, unfriendly, and non motivating people that call them selves personal trainers, customer service representatives or salon professionals. The manager and his group of employees like to stand around and act confrontational, laughing at people, intimidating customers, and following them around as if they are criminals! These are gym employees not bouncers! The personal trainers walk in customers way and make them move without a courteous gesture to allow a customer first, instead chest checking happens or eye checking. They have asked people to move off of machines so they can show a client the machine for a personal training session. The salon staff is just down rite awful. Asking questions apparently annoys them. I dealt with attitudes and insults with them on a few occasions' now. Instead of these people being positive and motivating they look past you roll their eyes and literally laugh at people. I have sat waiting for my partner to finish and witness it constantly. It is extremely intimidating and is not good for peoples self esteem when they are trying to better themselves. I sure hope corporate addresses these issues.

  20. I would like to give a kudos to Brett Wolcott who is the night manager at the Piper's Ally location. Besides doing a great job with clients he always find time to clean the workout area.

Abby Cohn a part time trainer at the Piper Alley location. I used and I thought she was the best. Abby's clients think very highly of her. I would recommend her to anyone.

X Sport should be very proud to have them on their team.
