  1. We were just "thrown under the bus" (as they say) by none other than The "Good Neighbor" State Farm. Horrible Claims Department attention. The Public needs to know this company has changed for the worst. More to come...

    1. your complaint was posted 2012. quest what, they still haven't changed. I don't know if state farms realize the employees in the claims department is causing them to be open for false advertisement claim. They are rude, disrespectful and one woman in particular has maliciously said things about another client that had nothing to do with what she should have been responding to. She was definately not a good candidate for state farms slogan of being a "good neighbor".......based on her attitude....State Farm is not friendly towards that clients who have a long term relationship with them.....I think that they must be trying to put state farm in a lawsuit position...just sayin....I will be sending numerous letters to the corporate office...please join me all those who have had a devilish experience with the claims department of state farms...

    2. I have been a State Farm customer for over 17 years now, and just recently my agent refused to answer my questions with respect justifying that I don't pay him enough. I don't really know how much is enough for the asshole. Directed my questions to the main office who said that they can't have access to my account but the agent only lol. It's really a State Shit company not Farm.

    3. I don't believe that I was a customer all these years to a garbage company called State farm. All its employees and Agents are really scum bags. I noticed that no respectable person among this company's staff. It starts okay but when they got around 30 million customers nationwide, they started to kick their customers out of it with their disrespectful behaviors. It's really a trash company, and I don't recommend any one to join such shitty company like this. You probably can find a better deal with Progressive, farmers, or Geico and trash this company for ever like I did.

    4. get out while you can. if you should have more then one natural disaster claim in a year they will drop you and you become a high risk to other insurance companies and you will land up paying as much as twice the premiums for years to come.

    5. I have been with State Farm for about 20 years......tried to have an auto canceled off policy with agent Mark Brown but I'm still paying. I tried to move to a different agent closer to me named Paul Baca Jr. because his father was my agent before State Farm started moving my account around. Turns out Paul was rude and didn't want to take my account because of a second account that was canceled due to my young son having a claim. I guess he doesn't have more than one underwriter, really! How ignorant. Not to mention his secretary using speakerphone during our conversation is just unethical. So much for loyalty. His father, P. Baca Sr and secretary Glenda are sorely missed and would have been appalled at this behavior and service. Farm Bureau had already insured my four vehicles with no issues and at a cheaper rate--go figure, so I'm not missing State Farm. I'm disgusted with this company.

    6. I will be writing to corporate office and also filing a complaint with CCA and BBB about State Farm Insurance Co. and their Agency offices. Whatever you do don't get involved with State Farm. They don't give you proper information while transactions are taking place in Agency offices. Plus, they will say," I can get your policy a lot cheaper " and then make up for it in other ways. Then, you really ending up paying more !! They are deceiving ! With both Auto and Homeowners Insurance !! if you decide to go with them anyway - buyer beware - ask detailed questions before you let them do anything !!!

  3. I work for a State Farm agent thats wife has an independent agency. State Farm has no idea that their agent has basically opened another agency in palm bay florida so he can write business behind their back. This is the mentality of state farm agents. Greedy and will step on anyone to make money.

They have lied about leaving me messages and sending me mail as well when they did not. Go elsewhere if you're loking for insurance.

  8. Like a good neighbor??? Only if your neighbor has a "no trespassing/violators will be shot" sign. Our vehicle was stolen out of state last week along with our ID, cash, and credit cards.
We called our local agent in Lou. (our home) who said this has nothing to do with her office and it is a claims issue. We spoke to a rep whose name began with "M" and who we were told is on "Kendra's" team, the person assigned to us. "M" said she really didn't know what to tell us as far as getting back home (no ID, no money, no credit cards to rent a car). We left messages on Friday, yesterday, and today (7-30) for Kendra to call which she did not do. As it stands, we did make it home but have no idea about any rental car or any timeline on our stolen vehicle. I wouldn't wish these unempathetic, unprofessional and uncaring employees or their company on my worst enemy. Stay away!!!!

I feel your pain. Nevertheless, some companies won't accept you as a new customer if you've had a recent claim. Recent meaning within 3-36 months. Be sure you're outside the new company's uninsurable - exclusion period before you cancel State Farm.

  16. Ran across this site as I was looking up State Farms corporate address, some of the senior execs to send a letter to. This to advise them that I am a policy holder of 30 years. That I was rear ended by another policy holder 11 months ago. I have had extensive medical bills which have not been paid, still under review by the claims adjuster. These bills are now being turned over to a collection agency. Extremely poor claims service. I never thought I would have to sue them to get my bills paid but it appears I am going to have to go down this path. I also will be moving my policies (2 houses, 1 apartment building, three auto's, boat, motorcycle) to a new Insurance company when this is over.

    2. I have to agree with you. My recent encounter with state farms claims department was a total disappointment. The represenative that I was referred to was rude, she was absolutely out of order by being dogmatic towards the other person and giving up information that wasn't even relevant to my question which was want to get a yes or no to my question but instead she talked about another customer with me giving her unsolicited opinion about another state farm client. I will be following up with a letter to corporate office and I plan to get in contact with an insurance claims lawyer. I too have been a long time customer.....I don't have any problems with my local state farm's agent. It's the people whom they assign to handle the claims that I believe, are not a good representative of state farms...I will also get in contact with 7onmyside as well.

  18. A (not)good state farm independent owner in Illinois blows his snow across the street onto my driveway and in front of it. Which he does even after I have already shoveled and I have to go back out and shovel again. I have been handicapped since birth and my husband had a stroke. I do most of the shoveling and I walk with the aide of a crutch. State Farm you should know how one of your employees treats their neighbors. I will be telling everyone I know. In the past year and a half he has been such a neighborhood nuisance the he was told the village could take his house by nuisance abatement because of loud music he plays . I am being a good neighbor and not putting his name in here.

I called 3 consective times for a jump to get to work and twice for a tow to my mechanic. Each time was considered an EMERGENCY. Had I been informed when I became a member that there was a min/max amt of times I could call for assistance, I would have sought other means. I am now in the process of finding another company before my contract ends on 3/9/14. Twanda Moore

  20. I was a customer of state farm for 20 years ( key word is was ). I had been doing business with Jim Million in Bonner Springs Kansas when I made a claim on my roof after many storms over the years had passed including an F4 tornado and never making a claim. After having an adjuster by the name of Mike Slater take over the case he said it was us that had damaged the roof. Well he didn't name us but just as well should have even though every house in the surrounding areas have had to replace their roofs because of the storms in the area. We had 2 roofing companies as well as hiring a roofing engineer who all said that it was due to the srorms. state farm refused to honor the claim and just said they weren't responsible to BUY me a roof. Last I checked is I BUY insurance and they HONOR claims. I can only assume there is no HONOR in doing business with this company and as of this past Nov. I went with a different company. No once through this whole ordeal did my agent ever come to my home and no one from state farm called and asked why I cancelled my insurance with them.

Why was our insurance cancel?-What factors played a role with our homeowner insurance being cancel.

    Dear Sir:
We need an explanation to why our homeowner insurance was cancel. First and Foremost before, we outline the fact we were looking to change insurance company. This was explaining to the State Farm Agent Jason back several weeks ago.
He states it would not be a problem about us getting coverage on our home and auto. We had several communication problems about the cancel of our old insurance company.
We call and spoke with Jennifer several weeks ago. She told us the problem was taken care of we had no need to worry.
Jennifer called us while we were on a Caribbean Cruise. So as I got home I call return Jennifer phone call.
She stated she needed my alarm information. At no point did she explain that our home owner insurance was cancel. We are out ragged over the way we have been treated by the local office in Plano, Texas.
We need a letter of explanation to why our home owner insurance has been cancel without notice.

  22. My Name is James Smith , i filed a claim with statefarm a few weeks ago, during the snow storm we had a truck ran me off the road into a very deep ditch, called statefarm, they dispatched a tow truck out to get me out the ditch and provided me with a rental, towed my vehicle to fredericksburg va, from there to Als body shop in king george since the inspector said there was no phisical damage , it was towed there for a diagnostic to see why the car would not start, the body shop said it was due to the ant theft alarm going bad. als body shop called me to ask were the tags for my vehicle were, because they were not on the car, i called state farm back over the course of a couple of days, they suggested they were in the trunk, they were not in the trunk or inside the car. rep from statefarm advised me not to worry , she said since state farm had the vehicle towed and lost the tags they would extend my coverage until tuesday2/25/2014 that would give them time to put the 40.75 into my acct to cover the tags, enterprise rentals called me monday 2/24/2014 saying that my rental coverage had ended i had reached my 900.00 max , the rep never explained that to me she only said my coverage was extended until tuesday so i could get the tags , enterprise charged me for the extra days , debiting my account , causing me to have a negative balance, also taking the 40.75 state farm transferred into my acct , leaving me haveing to borrow the money to get my license plates . not only have i been given misinformation, i have been lied too as well . i am a brand new policy holder and this experience has been horrible! i have never gone through so much, and i know that the result of my car not starting is due to the accident , theres no way my car would just stop working after im ran off the road into the ditch and it not be due to the incident. im am very unhappy with state farm

  25. Wow !!! I was just reading the comments that precede mine but here goes anyway. I have had State Farm for over 50 years ( originally under my parents policy but on my own nickel for nearly 50 years). Last year I clipped a gas pump guard post in my BRAND NEW motorhome. Two of the downstairs doors (storage areas) needed to be replaced. Winnebago charged 1950.00 for the doors and 500.00 for the paint. The shop that did the work had to fit and cut the doors, match and paint (there are 4 colors) etc. They charged about 2400.00. I am aware that this mishap ( I was going 1 mile per hour) is my fault however- I have paid State Farm over 140k over the years for cars, motorhomes, homes, etc. We currently insure 3 cars, a motorhome, 2 houses in California (yes we carry earthquake ins as well as extra liability). Our premiums seems to all be due in April so the most recent bill exceeded 8800.00 for the year. I turned in the claim for the motorhome fix (just this side of 5k) and received a letter saying that my good driver discount could be removed. ARE THEY KIDDING ME- I went back(albeit in memory) as to how much they have paid over the years - counting this most recent claim - maybe as much as 10k - in 50 years.- that's 200.00 a year-- so over the years and rounding numbers it seems their profit has been at least 95%----again ARE THEY KIDDING?? It would be cheaper for me to pay my own way - just not legal. So you say there are administrative fees. About 3 years ago someone cut in front of me damaging my car. The damage was clearly the other drivers fault but he had Mercury Insurance. I understand they fight everything - Rather that go to battle on my behalf State Farm bailed and I lost my deductible - the good news is I was not charged with this accident - again - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This makes me very sad. My agent is a great guy, in fact he and his family have been my neighbors for over 27 years. Not sure next steps but this is very disturbing.

  28. my policy started at $95, then jumped to $122 - no explanation - then to $127 when I bought a 2009 Cube - okay $5.00 for a newer vehicle =- I can handle that.

It was recommended that I get the in drive - a program that is suppose to save you money on your insurance. I got all A's and 1 B and my scores are higher than the National average. So, I'm thinking this will decrease my insurance - nope - it jumped to $147 with no explanation.

I called my agent Steele, Clayton and he stuck me with another agent who gave me a song and dance - ending with I'll look into it. So state farm steals $147 from me. I'm furious and I bitterly complain again and I get the line is busy and I can get through. Then they ask for the mileage on my 1980 courier - I give it to them and they say are you sure - we have a higher figure - I said I can bring it in and they can check it themselves and I'm told no that's not necessary.

I'm told that the new mileage will correct the problem. They steal another $147 from me. This time I say if I get another letter for $147 I will put a stop payment on it and I'm assured that they are working on it. I get the letter, I call the office and they say they have no idea what corporate is doing - I put the stop payment on and they can't pull.

Today, I call corporate who listens then refers me back to my local office. They say that the local office will call me by the end of the day and I tell them if they don't I will be with National at $105 a month.

WHEN I MADE A CLAIM I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED FOR THAT REASON, BUT THEY ALSO GAVE ME TIPS ON IF IT EVER HAPPENED AGAIN HOW I SHOULD LIE. 34. We've had State Farm in IL for several years. 5 years ago we bought a home in NC and selected a State Farm agent here in NC. in July we sold our home in IL and permanently moved to NC. Contacted the NC agent to transfer our auto insurances. Thought that this would be simple HA! We received a temporary card for our 2 cars but the agent filled out a new application for our motorhome and was told this could take up to 60 days. It was to be a TRANSFER. Now we're getting letters from Corporate telling us that we haven't contacted an agent here in NC so they're going to drop our insurance as of Oct 14, 14. This is rediculous we've contacted an agent in July BEFORE we moved so we could get the transfer started. I don;t understand the problem It should have been a simple transfer. The letters conveniently don't include a phone # so we can discuss the matter. I'm calling Corporate today to get answers. Please contact me I'm not going to give up until I get some answers

  43. My family has been with State Farm for over 30 years and we have multiple policies with them. Earlier this year my husband was driving my car and we had the very unfortunate luck of a homeless man running into us. The customer service was horrible. After talking with .....no arguing with them several times about information they requested from my husband with no explanation of why State Farm has cancelled all of our policies. No notice or anything! So now we are left to fend for ourselves. We have never had a history of claims save for 3 over the past 7 years and none of which were our fault. State Farm you are one of the worst insurance companies out here and our "good ole" hometown agent did nothing to help us. If you live in the Athens, GA area pleas don't get State Farm! State Farm I'm hoping that you get back all the ways you have screwed people over!!

  44. I have been a customer about thirty years. I was involved in a hear on crash (not my fault). I have under insured. State Farm is doing everything they can to keep from settling. They also want us their clients to report insurance fraud. State Farm ought to investigate their own lawyers that insist on asking for info that has noting to do with the case. The only thing that the lawyer is doing is lining their own pocket (about $300 an hour) there is your fraud that raises our rates. Then after this is all said and done I bet the are going to raise my rates. If this happens they will lose my personal and business insurance.

  45. I tried to change companies and could not because State Farm lied and told the insurance community I had not paid my bill when in fact, I have paid them for 20 years without incindient or accident. Then when I needed a copy of by policy, ther refused to provide without a COURT ORDER - SUPEONA, for a policy I paid for. State Farm does one thing and one thing only, take your money.

  46. My Husband has been with State Farm for many many years. When he and I were married about 8 years ago I too went with State Farm. They have us set up on different accounts. I called a couple of weeks ago to get a quote for Homeowner's insurance because we have decided to buy a house. The lady I was transferred to told me that our discounts of Multi Car and being Married were NEVER applied. So in about 8 years we have pretty much over paid by 8,000.00 dollars. She sent the error to another department to have it looked at and see what they would do about us over paying. Today my husband got the response back of them telling us that it was our fault and they were going to do NOTHING. She suggested that she would appeal it and see what they come back with. I would like to know their policy about this in writing, because I cannot find it anywhere.

  47. State Farm, my family and myself have been customers of your insurance company for as long as I can remember. Please stop playing that horrible commercial with the young Asian girl desperately reaching for a dollar from an old man's fishing pole. I am of Asian descent and it is sickening to see this degrading behavior over and over again. Please shelve it!

Your commercial showing the two idiots imitating burlesque queens is the most offensive commercial that I have ever seen. I have to hold my remote to change the channel every time it comes on. If you are appealing to teenagers I would like to remind you that the adults pay the bills and this adult tells every other adult that I see to bypass State Farm when looking for insurance of any kind because you are appealing to perverts.

  49. State Farm, I thought this company had a very good coverage good prices, until my husband and I were involved in an accident and then we were told that my husband wasn't covered and that we were at fault, and this was 3 days after the accident no one even bother to ask or wait for the police report or even ask if we were okay when I was the one that was taken to the hospital and badley injured. to what I know is that statements are taken from everyone involved in the accident and its been 2 months and no one has even bother to call me and get a statement of what happened, state farm have been getting statements from "witnesses" that weren't even there that the other person at fault provided, and of course they are more credible than the officer involved and the actual witnesses.
now with the other hit and run accident I was screwed with out of pocket for my rental when am supposed to have coverage and paying for it, if you have to pay out of pocket for all you are supposed to be cover for, why do we need insurance? we might as well save our money to cover all cost when an accident happens and we'll be better off.
I brought in several family members to the company but I guess once this is over with, we are all changing state farm, and like they said state farm is loosing customer because of the agents who wont take the time to explain the policies. and agent who do nothing to try to help resolve the problems.

  50. State Farm,
We (James & Diana Hovater) have Insurance with Herbie Strange 223 Western Ave Chillicothe Ohio 45601. On 1-9-15 while we were in Fla. on vacation are house sitter call to let us know of water problems so we cut short vacation & came home. The Insurance people was doing great sending the people out to start working on the water, then they worked fast getting the money to us so we could get things back together fast. So that end of things was great. Then we got a letter in the mail letting us know we needed a new Insurance, Why Herbie Strange could not call I don't know, then my husband called him set up a time to go see him & he knows it was with Herbie Strange because when he tried to get different time he said can’t cause he had someone else coming at that time but when we showed up for our time Herbie Strange was not there he had someone else talk to us. Not very personal. Then we get bills in the mail on my husbands truck & my car even know they had been paid up for 6 mon. recently we still owe more. No where did it say why it went up but we think cause of the house Insurance, It sure would of been nice to get a call from our agent. Not sure but we think we may be trying to find car insurane from new place even know we have been with state farm for 20+ years (me) & 30+ years for my husband. I was no the web site & E-mailed Herbie Strange so he would know we were not happy but you can only type so many letters so here is a coopie of what I sent him.
(To Herbie Strange: needing to find new Insurance, having appointment with you we thought (you put us off to someone else) then prices going up on cars, but not once could you call us with a heads up or see us face to face. that's not very personal at all.)

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    James & Diana Hovater

  51. I have been with state farm for a short time but had a bad year and because of Raymond to start off that he did not apply to the policy what we wanted to "save us money" we were in an accident and it turned out my husband wasn't covered or on the policy right there end then we hired a lawyer and that same day all of a sudden wow......in another instance my husband called to give his license information and sent a copy, after the incident that Raymond told us that my husband wasn't covered he was fired and told us he has quit to go somewhere better "right" after that Fernando took over another idiot we made changes on our policy or I should say my husband made the changes since his the one taking care of everything and ofcourse the changes were not done when he was supposed to and we got screwed with paying for the rental, we called to deferent departments and all the number possible and they all go to the claim department and theres never a supervisor around hhhmmm no wonder all the agents are Idiots and don't know what they are doing maybe if they get 2yr training they might get some idea of what they are suppose to do, or better they should be insured with state farm and have them go thru what we go thru and that will get them into an idea of what to do I think that albert benson if he is a good agent as he claims to be he should care more for his clients that after all they are the ones paying their salary if there are any client they have no paychecks corporate I would really look into taking care of the client you have and the kind of agents you hire because without us you are nothing here wouldn't be a state farm and I would encourage everyone who is having problems with state farm put a complain to bbb and specially to the commissioner of insurance and call sacramento and complain that's what am doing this company and the office of albert benson in woodland hills ca. is one of the worse I have ever had to deal with.if you ever need someone to interpret get your own because the interpreter the agents have don't thing tell you things the way it's suppose to and they don't say what you say they say it the way they want and what they want.

  52. Had a home invasion the end of January. Still trying to get the claim processed. Keep submitting the requested information. Keep getting different agents assigned to handle the claim. Keep getting threatening letters because of the inability of the agent to communicate with us. Get statements like call between two and three PM. I take calls then. I have even had the local state farm office submit the requested information. It was partially rejected and not completely reviewed;. Had another request for the police report to be sent. The police report was included in the original claim. Provided by the adjuster that did the home visit. And sent again by us. I have provided everything requested numerous times just to have I do not see it please resubmit request. We talk to them on the phone then get a follow up letter threatening cancellation of the claim due to inability of contact.; Was provided a direct contact e-mail address. They still claim no information is received I have had my internet service provider on line with me to insure the information is properly sent. I cc my self and my wife. We receive the information and all attachments. I do not understand how they are missing the information..I do not understand why the claim is not processed. The replacement value of the damaged items has increased about $1500.00 while trying to arrive at an settlement.

  53. Wow. I can't believe they leave all these complaint comments for the rest of their customers to see.
I opened the link to this site to find a phone number to make a complaint. I'm not sure if I should waste my time after reading some of the other comments. SF obviously doesn't give a crap what their customers think. I've been insured by SF for almost 20 yrs and I thought they were a better company, but these comments give me the impression that all insurance companies must suck. Otherwise, why would they leave these complaints for the world to see.

  54. My husband was thinking about switching our insurance policy over to State Farm, after reading all of this I am glad.
However I would have never let him switch to this evil company because I too have tasted the bitterness of this evil. My daughter was hit by a car insured by State Farm, she was killed. I later found out information State Farm knew from the beginning which is the driver has red eyes, admits to smoking pot early that day for breakfast for the disease of migraines. (Why would he admit this?) He is currently not seeing a doctor therefore he does not have a prescription for his drugs, therefore I think this is illegal behavior. Also they knew there was a 42 ounce open bottle of Steel Reserve in backseat not trunk. Steel Reserve is a very potent alcohol. I do believe the driver was speeding because of where my daughter impacted onto the car. She catapulted and landed on the top of the passengers windshield. This takes speed. I heard the car was totaled, it takes speed to total a car. My daughter was five feet from stepping up on the curb. She was standing under a street light. All the driver had to do was turn his wheel to avoid hitting her. He did not respond currently. This is a disgrace to be treated like this by professional people. I guess professional people lose their heart as they climb up the ladder of success.
