  1. I have used enterprise for ten years to fill my car rental needs, I have rented from them from Michigan to California, and until recently I have not only been satisfied with their service, but have referred them to friends and family. recently April 27,2012 I stopped by theior store in Astoria, Oregon to rent a car for two days to travel ninety miles to the portland airport and back to Astoria. I arrived at the store on the 27th and after giving them my information I was told my reservation was secured. when I arrived the day of the pickup, I was told that without a credit card(mine is a debit) I could not rent their car. I was forced to use my car which I was having trouble with, and the car broke down with my pregnant wife, and mother in law in the car. the hundred dollars plus insurance I would have spent for the rental cost me one thousand dollars in repairs. My wife in this stressful situation had early labor while stranded! I will never rent from enterprise ever again! and I will tell everyone who will listen about the uncaring bastards who chose to be jerks and almost cost me my son!

    2. This is not true...I rented from national and enterprise for years with my debit card.

  2. Had a confirmed reservation (4 days in advance). Got a call the morning I was to be picked up. "Sorry we don't have a car available." I asked that they find one and let me know when available...he never called back. Tried again a month later (identical problem) and same location manager. This time I attempted to escalate it. All you get is I can file a complaint and being cycled back to the original place you booked from. Having been cycled back I asked him for A) A corporate telephone number to management since he could not help me as he has not cars. He DID NOT KNOW OF ANY but said he would find out and call me back...just as he said he would call back when he found a car. He did not..who is he....DAVE or DAVID at the (in town not at the airport) Garden City, KS Enterprise location. What's David's problem? No cars?....well that could be a computer glitch or oversight (although twice makes me wonder). Not getting back to me? Yes...did not close the loop which means he did nothing. I'm Steve and can be reached at Tangoblue (you know the symbol)netscape (dot)net

  3. I have always been happy with Enterprise Car Rental until now. Due to a truck tire damaging the front end of my car, I had to rent a car in Killeen, Texas for a week. The Enterprise office was handy right there in the collision shop and my insurance authorized $20 per day with Enterprise. First the place only had large, expensive vehicles. Girl 1 told me a $50 hold would be put on my credit card. No problem, other than she was sending text messages on her cell phone throughout the entire transaction. When I turned in the SUV, the Girl 2 couldn't give me a receipt for the $253 I paid because she didn't have a printer. Why not? Now an additional $144.70 has been charged on my credit card. I called the Killeen office and spoke with Girl 3 (Girl 2 told me that at Enterprise they are always being moved around so a customer will never deal with the same person twice). Girl 3 said the $144 was for the additional insurance. I said "No, that was included in the $253." She looked at it again and said "oh yes, I guess it is." Then she gave me a lame excuse about the $144 being a hold on my credit card. When I said Girl 1 told me it would just be $50 and that $50 would be put toward the $253 total. Girl 3 started telling me some lame story about her credit card getting charged twice for a charitable donation. Again I asked why $144 charge and she said it was the $50 hold being charged every three days. She couldn't answer why since I only had the car from a Thurs to Tues why there were THREE charges instead of two or why it was $144 not $150 if that is the case. She told me to wait until next week (next week?!?) to see if the charges "go away." Not sure I will rent from Enterprise again--and certainly NOT in Killeen, Texas. I had to deal with three separate young women and none seemed that interested in her job. If the $144.70 charge does NOT "go away" there will be some letters to the local office, corporate office, and local newspaper. Of course word of mouth goes a long way too.

  5. I would not recommend anyone to rent a car from Enterprise. I had made a reservation & spoke at length that I would be paying w a debit card. The reservationist on the phone said it would be fine to pay w a debit card. When I got to the Myrtle Beach, SC 501 office they would not rent a car to me with a debit card. They said I needed an in state license & 2 utility bills showing paid in full before they could rent a car to me. I had been told by the phone reservationist it would be ok. The manager Samantha K Le Tray was very rude to me. She had no customer service skills. She was yelling at another customer who was not satisfied. Samantha proceeded to yell at me that no one would have told me that it was fine to pay w a debit card when I had an out of state drivers license. So she basically called me a lier. I asked her how does she expect people who are coming in from out of state to a major tourist area to comply with these rules? She didn't answer me. I don't know about you but I don't travel w copies of paid utility bills on my person. I had paid a taxi to take me out to this satelite office to get the special $9.99 wkd rate. They did not offer this special price at the airport location. It was near closing time & Samantha just through all of us out of the office. She left 2 woman standing there stranded w/o anyway to call for a ride or taxi. We were not in a what I could consider a safe area. I am handicapped too. I can't believe how she could just throw us outside without renting cars to us or giving us a ride or at least offering to call us a cab. It was not only rude but a mean way to treat people, especially a handicapped person. I would not rent from any Enterprise office because of the rude treatment of this employee in the their Myrtle Beach office. I don't think she'd like to be treated like this. On the Enterprise website it goes on about how customer service is so important to them & they strive to satisfy each customer. Well Enterprise, I'm not satisfied with how I was treated. I lodged a complaint with their toll free number. Waiting to see if I get a response from the area manager. Be wary of renting from Enterprise, they don't honor what you are told on the phone when you show up at the rental office.

  6. I allways rented with enterprise WILL NEVER rent again, had really bad expirience with rental, My wife had an accident and her car was at the shop for 45 days lucky me I had unlimited rental with my insurance, the day I got my car from the shop I took the rental back after hours due to a long trip I had to do the next day so I drop the keys on drop off box and they call early the next day left a voice mail on my phone stating everything was ok and they will refounf my deposit, some one drove the car that day in the parking lot and made some pretty good damage on the car, so they desided to pin it on me and the file a claim for damages, 2 moths later I got a bill on the mail for some stupid accident that I didn't do and they are asking me to pay or they will take me to cours and ding my credit, got very very upseat, all this issue stil going on right noew I'm not sure what will happen but I stil have that voice mail on my phone to prove that the car had no damage and they also returned my deposit .

WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN BE CAREFULL IF YOU RENT FROM THEM

  7. I am astonished to read these bad reviews, as I have always had (up until today) very good experiences with Enterprise Rental. I won't go into detail on this most recent experinece, but suffice it to say, it echoes these other bad experiences and reviews that I have just read. I am going to write their Corporate Headquarters and ask why nothing is being done to improve, improve, and prevent these bad experiences for everyone. I don't know what is going on with Enterprise, but it seems a national problem that everyone is experiencing.

    1. I don't know if you wrote the Corporate Headquarters or not, but I can tell you nothing is going to get done. The president of the company, Andrew Taylor, preys on his customers, he knows as long as people rent from enterprise, national or the other entity, and they make enough money off the customers, he don't care what your concerns are. The employees are liars, thefts, and cheaters. A manager @ the midway (Chicago) location stole my sunglasses, (I had just purchased them), Tory Burch, paid almost $200 for them and had them less than 3 weeks.

Don't think your problems are going to get resolved.

  8. I rented a vehicle during in November of 2012, when I turned the vehicle in, I paid the fee in full. On January 2, 2013 I reveived a letter from the firm of Caine & Weiner who stated I owed Enterprise for the rental fee, to pay up or suffer the consequences. I called the place that I rented the vehicle from and the corporate office and they both stated that I owed them no fees. I asked them why this incident occured and they stated that they did'nt have a clue. Of course I did'nt like that answer. Make sure you keep a paper trail so you don't have to go through this type of harassment...

  9. I rented a mini-van to pick people coming in from England at airport total use 3 hrs. ($4.00 in gas) returned at opening next morning & realized I had left my hearing aids in console (closed for 3 day holiday?)when I called.. they claimed they had rented car out an hr. after I returned & was still out.. called for days ..car was returned but no 4,400.00 electronic hearing -aids .. so here I am .. lost job-lost house- disabled on soc.sec. & DEAF! as I can,t afford new "ears" just saw on Inside Edition" how Enterprise was only one w a thief.. why someone would want hearing-aids ..I don,t know .. but will never use Enterprise again in Las Vegas!!

    1. Same thing happened to me. My son left his $200 headphones in the car and I also called hours after I dropped the car off. I was first told it was in the garage being cleaned, then they told me it was rented out right after I dropped it off on a one way rental. finally i was told it was rented the next day. Bottom line is someone at Enterprise stole the headphones when they were cleaning it. Never will they get my service again.

    2. Happened to me...I was in Chicago for the Thanksgiving weekend, rented from national and the sunday I returned the vehicle, I and forgot and left my sunglasses in the glovebox, when I got on the shuttle from the rental car location to go to the airport, I realized I left my sunglasses in the glovebox and called so that someone could get my glasses out of the car and return them to me. The manager DJ or TJ, got them out and keep them. After I filed a police report on him and they reviewed the video, they fired him. Now they think they are not going to refund me, but they are! I am going to do everything in my power to get my money from enterprise

  11. What exactly is your policy when someone rents a vehicle and Purchas’s the extra insurance with Enterprise when your car rental gets stolen while your in vacation in Hawaii a place where we had never been before with 3 grown kids don't know anyone and all our belonging get stolen, keys, money and credit cards, and Enterprise can't pick us up when were stuck on an island with no money, no ID's and you can't send someone from your office to come pick us up! we called and placed a police report and even the officer got on the phone with the employee from Enterprise and told him to send someone out to pick us up and they still kept going on about there policy about returning the key in order to have someone come out and pick us up. How is someone on an island surrounded by water supposed to take the keyless clicker entry key into the water when the rental is a keyless entry that clicks clicks! That would mess-up the key! So no we don't have the key, if someone steel a car most likely they have the key! I would like for Pamela Nicholson at the corporate office to respond. There needs to be some adjusting to your policy and arrange for someone to go and pick up your paying customers in a situation like that. Do you think that was handled the right way and to do your customers like that to leave them stranded with no help to send.

    1. Unbelievable experience with Enterprise. Especially for a long time regular customer. So here's my story........I rented a car to take my friend and I on small vacation that we had been planning for months. When we arrived at our destination we pulled into the valet parking and had the bellman come and help us to get out things to our room and at some point after giving them the keys, before the car was even parked by the valet, it was stolen!! In no way was this my fault!!! But in dealing with the local Enterprise location that I rented from.... I was treated like I had been the criminal. I am the victim here and in no way could I have prevented this from happening nor did I cause it!!! But I was refused another rental car to get around in during my already problematic vacation!! Not to mention a vehicle to get us home, to another state, in !! On top of all of that....I was charged not only a higher rate for the vehicle than agreed upon...I was charged for the full refueling of a vehicle that had been stolen. Really??? I have to pay for the fuel that was used by this thief??? I had just filled the tank before we arrived at out hotel for our travels during our stay. But again, this was not even acknowledged by the local Enterprise Manager. He was so rude and mean that I was in tears. I made him repeat this to me 3 times because I truly couldn't believe what I was hearing him say. All he kept saying was "we need this vehicle returned to us before we will help you". I said 3 times... "This vehicle was stolen and this STOLEN vehicle was involved in a high speed chase and crashed and burned to a crisp and not even recognizable or drivable... much less returnable. All this was verified by the State Police and yet you won't deal with me until I "return the car or the keys so that you can pick up the vehicle" ??? Seriously........

I have never been treated so poorly!!!!! I am hoping to spread the word, every chance I get, in hopes of sparing any one else such an offensive out come because you have rented a car from Enterprise. This was a terribly callous and insensitive way to deal with such an already regretful situation. Signed no longer a loyal customer!!!

  12. I reserved my car two days in advance. When I came to pick up the car it was reeking of cigarette smoke and the seats were very badly stained (all of this was noted on the paperwork after I pointed it out). 10 people walked in behind me and no one, I'm sure, was going to trade their cars for mine- so I kept it. When I returned the car I complained about the condition of the vehicle and the agent deducted 1 out of the 3 days that I rented the car. I am still very upset that I was forced to rent such a poorly maintained vehicle. I feel they should have waived all, or at least 50%, of the fees for such a dirty ride. This was a very substandard experience! I would love to post the pictures of the interior but there does not seem to be a link on this site. I will mail a hardcopy to the corporate headquarters and submit pictures at that time. If I do not receive a satifactory response I will be reporting the Calumet City River Oaks location to the BBB.

  13. I rented a car 2 days ago. The car I was given was a Chrysler 200 and a rate of 52.99. The problem is that my next door neighbor went to the same location as I on the same day and exact same car and was given a rate of $25.00 per day. The manage gave us 10% off and said this was all he could do because I DID BUSINESS ON LINE VS. IN PERSON. This is totally bizarre. Who does not do business on line and being penalized! I should have been given a refund more than 10%. This is insulting. email is rdaser@bebe.com

    1. Well her is my story, I am in Chattanooga, TN My insurance uses Enterprise, so when I had my accident I was told to get a car thru them, so on my first attempt to get a car the car smelled of strong cigarette smoke and I did not notice at the time that the tags were out as well...I had the car a week I has called the office to tell them about the smell and the expired tags and they stated they would bring me another one out...but to no avail they did not bring me one, I had to go down there my self to get another one and I had to take time off from wk to do this....the next car they gave me was decent.....and know because my care was not fixed properly I had to go back and get another car from them which is today and the car was in poor condition the car again smells terrible and the inside and outside has not been maintained at all.....I guess they think we are a bunch of cattle to hurd us thru like we don't notice anything about the cars or that we don't care, but I do I don't want to drive a car that smells and looks like it has been thru a hail storm to drive ...I feel your pain!!!!!... they are suppose to be bringing me one today to my work but I still have not seen one yet...wish me luck and I hope this one does not smell and look a little better./....this will be the last time I will use them
