  1. Ulta Corporation,

I would like to mention a comment on your Beaverton Oregon store. I have been in your store several times and have noticed they do not keep the store clean. Dust is a big issue on some of the products and shelves in that store. i have went 6 months of not going there and just recently went back to possibly purchase something, it was still dusty in areas on the products in some areas and on the shelves. I wish a regional manager would really take a look at the store and address this issue. It could be a great store if someone were to keep it clean. i have talked to other people who have the same feeling about that store. I did not purchase because I felt like it's not a clean store.

Thank you for taking the time to read my comments. And I hope this may change something for the Beaverton Oregon store to help boost its business.

    1. I was just in the Beaverton Or, store on Friday 5-3-13 and witnessed the staff stalking three hispanic girls clearly intimidating them. They didn't seem to be concerned about the white customers, just the ones of color. I will never step foot in another ULTA. EVER! It was so obvious they had it in for these three girls. One of the workers even yelled at them across the store. " DO YOU NEED SOMETHING? WELL YOU LOOK LIKE YOU DO!!"
So unprofessional. If I were these girls I would sue!

  2. A couple of weeks ago I bought three Redken products on a buy two, get the cheapest one free sale. I paid $36.00 for two $18.00 products and got a $16.50 product free. After using the $16.50 product first, I decided I really liked it and exchanged the two $18.00 products for two of the $16.50 but did not receive the $3.00 refund. I talked with two store employees, one of which was a store manager, and was told that the way their system was set up for that sale, the two $18.00 products were discounted so I couldn't be refunded the $36.00. Very convoluted system Ulta uses to screw their customers who decide to exchange or return products bought on sale.

  4. To a Corporate Manager,
I live in Kansas City, Mo. Our family have been very loyal costumers of yours for several years. We purchase many of your products, had Salon Services, and have been very satisfied until 3 weeks ago. My Doughter and I went to her Salon appoint. she is 14, and of course a Fan of Justin Bieber. His New fragrance just arrived at your location in K.C. I asked to buy one, and the manager commented that, It was the 1st fragrance been sold to us that she just got it that morning and she was expecting a carton Justin's Poster and because we were such old and Loyal Customers my dougher would get it. Three weeks later we went back for a Salon Service and shopping. To our surprise the manager informed us that, she had a list from several people and that, we No longer will be able to get the Poster! I'm very disappointed at this Unprofessional Manager's behavior! Also had employees commenting that, she has done this and taken it for her home. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter!

    1. dude, its just a damn poster. Go buy one. The manager is dumb for taking it home, if that was the truth. Who bashes their manager out like that. Employee is dumb too!! It just shows how stupid you are, there are so many shit going on with this world and you're here complaining about a justin beiber poster. Dumb ass hell!

    2. The issue here is the they said they give her the poster. Telling the truth and keeping to your word is a sign of character....something you obviously know nothing about.

  5. store was a 9 year old Arabic girl. Her father had left her there alone to have a straightening treatment done to her hair. This little girl cried and sobbed the whole time they were pulling and straightening her hair, she had tons of very kinky long hair. The hair dressers said she had been there 5 hours! At one point there were 3 techs working on her hair and one happened to be a man, I heard them tell him to stop because her dad was on his way...apparently he doesn't want men touching his daughters hair. I think what was being done to this 9 year old was definitely a form of torture instructed to be done by her father...This is America! We don't torture our children. I think Ulta should have some kind of guidelines, like if a child is under 13 a parent should be present, especially when a treatment like that is being preformed. That poor child was so upset. I felt like I had to say something, from what I heard, this was the 3rd time that she has been in for the same treatment. I hope Ulta will look into this and make some changes to their policies. If I have to witness something like this again I will definitely have to take my business elsewhere.

  6. My ULTA experience.
I approached the the check out on the right side it had been my experience that you enter at the right and wait for the next available clerk to the left. There were no clerks at the check out and no other customers so not knowing which check out would be open I waited at the beginning. One clerk was busy with customers just to the left of me, so I did wait patiently as I saw another clerk pass by the check outs (Norma) thinking she saw me and she would call someone to assist me. That did not happen in the mean time two girls walked up to the check out closest to the entrance. Now all of us are waiting……………
When the clerk did come to the check out (Norma) she did go to the girls first. My thoughts were I have been waiting much longer should I let this go? With that being said I feel customer service is no more!
I feel it is a sign of poor management if it is not STANDERD OPERATING PROCEDURE or ULTA PHILOSOPY then there is definitely an extreme weak link in management.
I am a very fair person I never go in front of anyone I let one with fewer items in front of me, when a clerk says next person in line I respect that and always commend them for doing so even though I may not be the next person.
Needless to say I did not let it go. I spoke up and said politely “I was here first” Also needless to say the girls were very much put out and disrespectful!!!! I responded I have been waiting for quite some time. THEN NORMA SAID “they were here earlier.” And that is when I asked for her name! How dare she allow there rudeness it was humiliating and I had done nothing wrong!
It would have been different had she walked up with them I saw no evidence of them being there and I had been there for I would guess seven or more minutes with no acknowledgment. I do understand I may not meet your demographic ……. My three daughters have been told of this humiliating experience. My 24 year old told me to go to Sephora on two occasions she had bad experiences and she will not go back!
There are always two sides to every story.
A picture is worth a thousand words. I hope you can review that time and exonerate me from all the chatter after I left, not for myself but for the next customer who is up at 11:10 pm stressed over the experience.

  7. On Saturday 10/13/2012 my daughter and I attended a makeup demonstration featuring tyhe Urban Decay product line. We both had a scheduled appointment and received a makeover at the Hunt Valley, Md. location. That evening both our eyes became bloodshot and itchy. We quickly removed the makeup and washed our faces. During the night I woke but could barely open my eyes. They were crusty, sore and burning. We went to A Care First and diagnosed us Both with PINK EYE... due to unclean makeup and or application brushes!!!!! If anyone has had a similar experience and taken action please post their outcome and advice. Thank you.

  8. The staff made me feel as if I was not wanted in there store and after I had expressed I did not want any help. The same lady kept asking me if I need help and she would stand where she could stare at me like I was trying to steal or something. I think I will try going to another ULTA or not going at all. I will be letting everyone I know to stay away from that store.

If this is how they treat Black customers then maybe they should hang a sign that says "NO COLOREDS" and be done with it.(3120 Evans Street Greenville, NC 27834) (252)-215-1090

  9. I am so outraged, I went in for my interview/technical... the manager (Named Esther) Said I would start monday and she even told me how much she was paying me. She said she'd give me a call to set up the rest and she never called. I called on sunday and she said she had 2 other interviews and that I would no longer start on monday.. IS SHE ALLOWED TO BASICALLY HIRE ME AND THEN UNHIRE ME? WTF... She made me quit my other job so I could start there. I am so outraged... Now I see why everyone was quitting and they were so low on staff, their managers are very irresponsible. I hope you look into this issue... the store is located in Odessa TX, 79761. I guess it's a good thing I wasn't hired since clearly the staff can't keep up with their other employees.

    1. I can agree with you on that. some management people don't know their job. they had it down to other people instead of taking charge of their position. management is such a disgrace, i say.

  10. I came into your store Saturday Dec.1 to purchase a makeup brush and could not locate the brushes in the store nor was there any sales person to ask for help.
Also the check out line was almost to the back of the store. Maybe you should hire more
people since it is the Christmas season!!
The store is located in Fairview Park Ohio

  11. Such a shame that your Brighton, MI store has gone down the tubes. The store manager Is quite rude and it is evident the employees are unhappy.
Whatever happened to the great store team that used to work there. Maybe instead of looking at her cell phone she should pay attention to customers. I won't be back anytime soon. Good luck keeping valued customers.

  13. It is my usual procedure to stop patronizing a store without telling the reason why. But the actions of employees/management at the Ulta store located in Allen Park, MI, prompt my response.

My daughter and I had shopped at your store at least half a dozen times, usually with African-American clerks at the counter and on the floor. This weekend we shopped at the store where it appeared that only Caucasian-American employees were present, who appeared to find it necessary to stalk my daughter.

My daughter was interested in purchasing a cosmetic bag. She made one stop in the store (with me at her shoulder) and then proceeded toward the cosmetic bags. Immediately the clerk went to the display she had looked at, apparently to "tidy" it up. Further attempts to "help" were made by the clerk, who was told no help was needed. My daughter chose her bag and went to the counter to check out.

Unfortunately, it was outside the store that she told me what had happened, otherwise we would have walked out, taking extreme offense to the obvious racial profiling and purchasing nothing ever at the Allen Park store, or any other Ulta store. Shortly after we walked into the store, the employee behind the counter ducked down and spoke into the headset, telling the other employee to watch my daughter for shoplifting. This is sheer profiling and we will not tolerate it by the only means we have: never returning to any Ulta store.

  14. My daughter and I had gone in Ulta recently to look around for specific items. I had been so thrilled that we got an Ulta in Hanford, CA. I went over to the hair dryers and hair brushes. Absolutely they had a large variety of hair dryers and brushes. I looked each one over carefully and found one that had all the things I was looking for and it had a sign under the demo that it was $29.99, it was a good make from a great company, one that I often buy from. So I got one and walked over to the brushed and got the one I wanted as well. When I went to pay, the cashier, a man, named "Keister" joked about his name and the fact that he was a guy working in a womans store. The items both rang up at higher prices that what the card for the pricing for that particular item had been priced at. One was $7.00 higher. (dryer) The hairbrush was $5.00 higher. We walked the cashier over to the isle the item was on and showed him the demo for the hairdryer and the price card right under it for $29.00! He called his manager and and while we waited, he stated to me that she will most likely give it to me at the price that was posted. Well she came with a price gun in her hand. Put the info and it showed up at the higher price as well to her. AGAIN, we walked her to the isle, she saw the price card that SHE put on there. She came back to the counter and asked me if I wanted it or not? Her name was Samantha. I purchased the hairdryer and was not going to do the same thing again for a hairbrush! I am 59 and I will not be spoken in the manner this woman spoke to me and my daughter. She was rude and snappy. She is a manager? Really this store hired someone who cant price anything correctly, argues with a customer, then acts like I am taking up her time? THAT, MY FRIEND IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE! She also refused to give it to me for the price that she posted it for! I cancelled my hair appointment, took back the hairdryer which I found at Walgreens for $24.00. Plus I had gotten my membership online and printed out my card and showed it to her, to which she said she couldnt find me with a membership, and she had my membership card in her hand! I am so disgusted with this store! I was treated badly. I will go to Walgreens again instead of this store. Your people are uneducated in customer service skills, managerial skills, and product management! I want to go where the people know what they are doing and are friendlier! (Yeah, and it was not about the hairdryer or the hairbrush) The girl was unprofessional, uneducated, and rude. Mr. Kiester, you were friendly and helpful, you are in the wrong store sir!

  15. ULTA does not care about their customers AT ALL. I recently placed an online order. When I chose the payment method I chose Bill Me Later which is a credit card thru Paypal. Well-after hitting the submit button ULTA's website showed my order was paid through my Paypal account and not my Bill Me Later account as that was the box I checked. Problem with this is, Paypal payments are taken directly from a customers bank account whereas Bill Me Later is put on credit. As soon as I noticed this happened I called ULTA to cancel the order. They are not able to cancel the order nor even change the payment method in their system. I have contacted ULTA numerous times and keep getting the same run around. I did get one email that stated I was not the only customer this happened to with the website error, which made me more angry. All I wanted was for someone to fix the order or at least take some responibility for the website error. I contacted ULTA again three times now to have someone from "Corporate" contact me. NO RESPONSE This company is a total joke.

  16. ULTA @Jax.FL....The Workers talk so bad about each other it is unreal! I have been a customer and the last 2 times i had to wait while they completed their discussion about one girl, then they act like they are so kind....Not sure what the policy is about Favoritism/degrading one another, but it needs to change

  17. I would like to express my frustration, my first experience at an ULTA and it was HORRIBLE...NEVER AGAIN... will I go into one. I took my 15 year old son to get a hair cut today and had my appointment at 2pm. Here comes the stylist, he looks at my son and says to him... " You are the one wanting your hair cut" son says "yes", so he turns and looks at me and says " I don't cut boys hair, only girls" and walked off.... My mouth dropped.. I was so p*ssed off.. Really?? You discriminate like that!! And to a child?? OMG... How could you have people like that working for your stores.. Its unbelievable!! I will report this to the BBB..

  18. I am more than certain that this is not the best way to request the following information, however, I have exhausted all other appropriate avenues in an attempt to contact the necessary department in order to retrieve certain information. I was employed with Ulta, at the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Store location as their OM, and I am needing to be re-issued my W-2(s). I began in July of 2011, and worked into the beginning of 2012 (I believe I left in late January, possibly early February of this year). I am aware of the risks in leaving my personal email information, so I will check back in 2 hours in hopes of a response with some form of contact information to your human resources department (or whatever the appropriate department to which I should reach out). I do appreciate your taking the time to look into this; thanks in advance!

  19. Ulta Corporation,
I have been really wanting to address my main concerns to your company for many many years. I used to work for your company back in 2000-2003. I was "Just the cashier clerk." I made $6.30 an hour and I worked from 10am to 6pm..Monday thru Friday..running the register and standing on my feet all thru those long hours of work. I had excellent customer service!:) I only had 30 minutes for my lunch break and sometimes I did not get one..because the other employees were back in the lunch room eating, talking and laughing. I had to eat after they did. I felt like I was being punished! The employees treated me sooo unfair and always talked behind my back at work. Looking at me whispering and laughing. This made me feel soo uncomfortable! They had poor customer service. They were soo rude and ugly to me. I took it..sadly for all those years. I agree with a lot of people on here..when they are saying that these Ulta employees are rude and nasty! Why..because I worked there and I witnessed it everyday!:( They even harassed me about my personal life. I could have had them all fired. Back then..I was too young and niave that I did not know know how to stand up for my own rights. That was soo WRONG!! I finally ended up quitting because I just could not take it any longer.
Many years have passed and Ulta seems like they still hire rude and nasty employees. It has not changed. You need to make a customer service video
for them before they start working on the floor..so they can have customer service skills. This will make you all look good and people will want to be coming back because the employees will actually be helpful, friendly and nice. I strongly believe in 'THE GOLDEN RULE!" Treat others as you would like to be treated!! People complain sooo much about the stores bad customer service on youtube..well don't you think this needs to STOP?

  20. Great Job Ulta Salon in Gastonia, NC.. I got married in September and myself and my bridesmaids had our hair and makeup done at Ulta and it was the best experience!!! I started working with Queena several months before the wedding and she took care of my rather unfortunate eyebrows and they were picture perfect by the wedding. She was very polished and professional and she is a great asset to the company. Alicia did my makeup and she was wonderful! Great personality, incredibly talented and my makeup was flawless for my big day. Shannon stepped in as my new stylist when my previous stylist Jennifer went on maternity leave and she was awesome. She was incredibly patient and accommodating with me and one the big day all our hair looked incredible. I also spoke with the store manager Jill on two separate occasions and she was great. So ladies, if you didn't know, Ulta in Gastonia not only has incredible beauty products but a great salon as well. Eyebrows, hair, makeup and skin treatments, it's in the back of store and definitely worth your money. I would highly recommend Queena, Alicia and Shannon, all three of whom are incredibly talented and professional. Thank you so much - Gretchen App Childers
