  1. I am at the Rodeway Inn in Mobile Alabama. The smell of mildew hit us at the door of the lobby. A 80 something year old was at the counter and took over 20 minutes to check us in. We have a two bedroom room, with only two washcloths and two towels, I asked for more and they gave me ONE washcloth. If there are no more then four people to a room do we all suppose to use the same washcloth and towel? Plus you can see the mold on the wall which is a health hazard. It is Mardis Gras weekend and we are being charged 79.99 a night for this disgrace of a room. I am upset and if I wanted to cancel it would be 79.99 which should be free by the place destroying my health with the mold.I would like to speak to someone about this and send me to the Comfort Inn next door.

    1. Like you, I am very upset. I have been staying at the rodeway Inn in Macon, GA on Eisenhower, room 123. I checked in on Tuesday, March 13th and checked out this morning, the
19th. I was in Macon for court proceeding.

The first couple of days I did not notice anything except a couple of places on my wrist itching, but not so much that I was alarmed by it. Just though it was a general thing. The next morning, I happened to raise my left arm while brushing my hair and saw several red spots on in the mirror. Even then I had no idea what they were, having never in my life seen bed bug bites. Yes!! They were from bed bugs!!!!!

A couple of days later I noticed more red spots on my upper arms. (I never look in a mirror when drying off, so did not see the ones on my back and down on left cheek.) But when I finally did look, it looked as if I had the red measles. But they had not started itching yet for some reason.

I went to the office and showed the woman, even the bites on my posteria. When I checked out, she said the room charge was the usual rate. I was flabbergasted. I ask if she had talked to the manager and she said yes. So I ask to talk to him and was told he was not there. So I then ask for his name and phone number. She told me she was no allowed to give that info out. I told her to get him on the phone. She called, but stood back from me. I heard her telling him that the woman in 123 was at the desk about the bites; that I was checking out and wanted to know what compensation he was going to allow. She hung up and said he would take $5.00 off the charges.

I have never in my life been in a bed that had bed bugs. I had never seen one either, and certainly did not expect them to be in a mid level motel. I have been scratching in places that wern't even bitten!

The desk clerk was not a very plesant person, and should be dealing with the public, regardless. She said I should have came to the office when I first noticed the problem. I said, 'lady, I had no idea there WAS a problem'! When I did, I immediatly came up here. A few more words were spoken (mainly by me), before I told her I was headed to the Board of Health, and that I felt her AND her boss would not take them too lightly. I wish they would close the place.

I am mortified. I am 72 years old and as I said, I have NEVER had bed bugs, never stayed at a place that had them, and always though that was something that only filthy homes and seedy motels had. Like you, I will NEVER stay at one of thoes motels again!!!!

I intend to write the corporate office about it.

    2. I understand how you feel. I recently became tired driving home from Austin Texas and stayed at the Rodeway Inn in I-35 in Waco Texas. What a mistake! The sink did not drain! The unit was falling apart. Electrical outlets were out of order...fire hazard? The staff was nice but not able to do much and the rate ....their bargain rate was higher than nicer cleaner motels within a mile of the Roadway. Never again.

  2. Roadway Inn Rohnert Park, CA. WHAT A DUMP!! If I had known, this place was THIS BAD, I NEVER would have made a reservation to stay. Carpets are wet, Air condition is not working, Bathroom floor had some kind of bugs in the corner, WiFi is slow WHEN it works, Was promised 2 queen beds, and they told us that they didn't have any, just full beds, The TV remote didn't work, had to go to the front office to get another. People up front were RUDE, and arguementive. Tried to charge MORE than was posted on line for the dogs. Light fixtures were just hanging, one didn't even have a shade. When I called to complain to the corp. office, they informed me that I can't complain until i check out. Don't understand how these people can stay in buisness? This is the main reason why we NORMALLY don't make a reservation ahead of time....THEN we have the right to refuse, AFTER we check out the room!

  4. We stayed at the Roadway Inn in Fallbrook CA. What a perfect scam. The location is directly across from a very nice place where they hold weddings. The entire hotel was booked for the wedding party. When we were getting ready, 2 men looking like managers walked in by using their key. They apologized and said they were taking inventory. We were gone until 10 that night.

The next morning I thought it was weird that my credit cards were on the bottom of my purse, which I had left in my suitcase, instead of the slits where I usually keep them. It was about 8:30 AM when I got a text message from my credit card company. Someone had gotten in our room while we were gone and had used my card number to make charges! They started charging at 10PM that night and charged from Sweden to registering on Paypal to some church!

I just wanted to write in case you have heard of any other similar situation with this management. It has turned me off to any Roadway Inn, but has also wakened us up to other possible scams.

  5. WE HAD RESERVATION WITH THE ECONO LODGE IN MASON, OHIO. WE SPEND THE DAY AT KINGS ISLAND AND THEN WE WERE GOING TO STAY THE NIGHT AT THE HOTEL. SO BY THE TIME WE GOT THERE THE KIDS WERE TIRED AND WE WERE ALSO. WE GET THE GUY BEHIND THE DESK WASN'T FRIENDLY AT ALL. THEN WE GET TO THE ROOM WE ARE THERE ABOUT AN HOUR AND WE REALIZE THERE IS NO COFFEE MAKER, MICROWAVE, FRIGERATOR, THE ROOM IS SO HOT, THE AIR CONDITION NOT WORKING PROPERLY.SO I CALLED THE FRONT DESK AND COMPLAIN, SO HE PUT US INTO ANOTHER ROOM, WHEN WE GOT IN THERE THE BEDS LOOK LIKE SOMEONE HAD BEEN LAYING IN THEM, THERE WAS NO COFFEEMAKER, MICROWAVE, IRON, IRON BOARD, AND THE AIR CONDITION DIDN'T WORK. WHEN I PUT THE KIDS IN THE TUB, I NOTICED THAT THE BOTTOM OF TUB WAS PEELING , SO I GOT THEM OUT.WE TRAVEL A LOT SOME WE HAVE STAYED AT HOTELS AND MOTELS AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH THIS WAS THE WORSE NIGHT I HAVE EVER HAD. THE BED WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT MY HUSBAND WOKE UP WITH HIS BACK AND NECK HURTING.I TOOK PICTURES OF THE ROOM AND IF YOU LIKE I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU. BUT I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD GET ALL OF OUR MONEY BACK.

  6. Road way Inn in Greensburg PA is a disgrace. Don’t you inspect hotels that carry your name? This place is terrible. I did not even finish the check in process. But was charged for two rooms for two nights. I did not even finish the paper work because I wanted to see the rooms first and after I did I told the manager I wanted to cancel my reservations but they would not let me because I already gave him my credit card. The rooms were dirty; the toilet in one room would not flush. One room the door would not lock and the other had a huge gap between the door and doorframe. The bedspreads were stained. The rooms stunk, and men were outside drinking beer in the parking lot. We were all women traveling with two children. The manager insisted we take a “better room” Hello? All the rooms should be better room. Go to tripadvisor.com and read the negative reviews on this dump. I want my money back I did not stay there I had to go and find another hotel because I refused to stay there. The manager ripped me off, because I was dumb enough to give him my credit card first!!!!! They charged my credit card 110.00 and 128.00 for 2 rooms for 2 nights. I did not even finish the paper work, It has an area to initial stating you have seen the room and except it. I did not initial this and told him I wanted to see the rooms first, after I seen them I told him I did not want to stay there and he would not even give me a copy of my paper work. Why? Probably because it was incomplete. Ask them to see my paperwork. My name is Carla Miner and I am from Wooster, Ohio. I booked rooms for July 14 through 16 2012. I will never stay at any other Roadway Inn!!!!!!!!!

  7. ME MY HUSDAND AN BROTHER-IN-LAW AN HIS WIFE CHECK-IN TO THE RODEWAY INN LOCATED IN BRUNSWICK GA. WHAT A DISGRACE THAT UR COPRPORATE OFFICE WOULD ALLOW THIS KIND OF TREATMENT TO GUEST. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE. WHEN WE CHECK IN AT 11:45PM ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 10,2012, WE GOT UNFRIENDLY SERVICE TO BEGIN AN THEN AFTER GETTING TWO ADJOINING ROOMS WE GO TO ROOMS AND TO OUR SURPRISE THE DOOR WAS BLOCKED BUT A PORTABLE FRIDGE, MY BROTHER-IN-LAW PULLED SHEETS BACK AND THERE WAS PUBIC HAIR AND TRASH IN BED. I WALKED TO OUR ROOM AN PULLED BACK SHEETS AND THEY WERE STAINED AND ALSO HAD HAIRS IN THEM. I GO TO FRONT DESK AND PROCEEDED TO TELL CLERK ABOUT THE SITUATION AND HE WENT GOT SHEETS FOR ME TO CHANGE BED OURSELVES, I ASKED TO SPEAK TO MANAGER AN WAS TOLD HE WOULD NOT BE BACK UNTIL MONDAY. SO WHEN I TOOK THE SHEETS BACK MY HUSBAND GO GET OUR MONEY WERE LEAVING. I WENT TO FRONT DESK ASK FOR REFUND AND WE LEFT. WE ARRIVING AT OTHER HOTEL, I REALIZED THE CLERK DIDN'T RETURN MY LICENSE, SO WE HAD TO GO BACK TO GET THEM. I WALKED IN STOOD THERE 5 MINUTES WITH NO SERVICE AND I ASK CUSTOMER AT COMPUTER DID HE KNOW WERE THE CLERK WENT TO AND HE SAID NO AND AT THE SAME TIME A GENTLEMAN TEXTIN ON HIS CELL PHONE CAME DOWN STAIRS AND CUSTOMER SAID HE SHOULD HE ABLE TO HELP HE IS MANAGER! I WAS SO MAD AFTER BEING TOLD HE WOULD NOT BE BACK UNTIL MONDAY. SO I PROCEEDED TO TELL HIM ABOUT THE SHEETS AN WHILE STILL TEXTIN ON HIS CELL PHONE LOOK AT ME AS IF I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO HIM. AN WHEN I GOT MAD HE LOOKED AT ME AN REPLIED WELL SOMETIMES THEY GET HAIRS ON THEM WHILE BEING CHANGED. REALLY!!! I SAID TO HIM ARE YOU SERIOUS. STILL TEXTIN HE SAID NOTHING I THEN SAW CLERK AND ASKED FOR MY LICENSE AND A RECEIPT FOR CHECK OUT AND TO WRITE ON THE RECEIPT THAT WE CHECKED OUT DUE TO NASTY SHEETS AND THE MANAGER SAID WE WILL NOT WRITE THAT, STILL TEXTIN MIND YOU. I THEN TOLD HIM THAT HE WAS ABOUT SORRY AS THEY COME AND THAT OBIVIOUS HIS CUSTOMERS MEANT NOTHING AN I WOULD CONTACT CORPORATE AN HE SAID DO WHAT YOU LIKE, AN THEN I REALLY GOT PISSED AN THEN HE TOLD CLERK TO CALL POLICE. SO I CALLED CORPORATE THIS MORNING AN WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FROM CARRYING THE LOGO, AN SHE WAS SORRY, AN THAT SHE WOULD LET CORPORATE KNOW THAT HE WAS STILL USING THE RODEWAY INN LOGO. THEY HAS BEEN SUSPENDED SINCE APRIL OF 2012. I THINK ITS SAID THAT CHOICE HOTELS DID NOT FOLLOW UP AFTER THE TIME ALLOWED FOR THEM TO REMOVE SIGN. NOTHING WAS OFFERED TO US NOT EVEN A DISCOUNT FOR ANOTHER HOTEL. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO GET US TO TRY ANOTHER HOTEL. BUT WE WILL NOT BE STAYING AT ANY CHOICE HOTELS EVER.....SAD THAT CUSTOMERS SERVICE MEANS NOTHING ANYMORE. HOPE EVERYONE READS THIS AN CHECKS INTO ANOTHER HOTEL THAT IS NOT AFFLIATED WITH CHOICE HOTELS...

    1. To whom it may concern:
My stay in the Roadway Inn at 1837 HW 35, Wall township, NJ was the worst experience I have ever had in any motel or hotel in North America. It was worse than some “third world” hostels.
I booked there because I was attending my 50th high school reunion and it was close to the planned activities Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. I have been a guest in other motels in your chain, Clarion, Quality Inns, and Sleep Inns. My stays with my family in those motels have always been satisfactory. I called their phone number and an Indian woman answered, her English was very poor but she said yes they had a pool. So I used the online booking to make my reservation.
      1. I thought I was booking a room for two people, with two beds, for two nights for $199.98.
When I got there I was told there was only a queen bed in the room. The young woman at the desk told me I could get a bed with two beds for about $400.00. I said I would check around since they would not let me see the room. She told me I would be charged $99.00 because I had not cancelled the room.

      2. After checking nearby competitors I could not get a room for both nights nearby. The Jersey Shore is a resort site and it seemed like every one was booked. Having no recourse I returned to the Roadway Inn and my credit card was charged $390.98.

      3. You cannot imagine my surprise when I found the swimming pool empty with grass growing in it. I had pictured myself sitting under an umbrella, sipping a cold drink while looking at the crystal clear water in the pool. This was a major disappointment.

      4. When we were finally given the key card and saw our room, it was too late; they had already charged my credit card. From that point on the older woman at the desk no longer spoke English, she was very pleasant, smiled, shook her head, and sort of mumbled unintelligible answers. It was after this that I documented the room and grounds by taking the photos attached.

      5. There was no smoke alarm in our room (#125). You can see from the pictures the water damage and mold on the ceiling. The cord for the refrigerator ran under the carpet in front of the bath room door and was plugged into a wall socket on the opposite side of the bath room door.

      6. The lady in the room next to ours was running some sort of business from her room she would walk up and down outside making cell phone calls. Different gentlemen would visit her throughout the day and evening. (They didn’t make too much noise.)

      7. The property seemed to be in the process of a do-it-yourself restoration or repair by the owner. If this is the case there should have been no occupancy permitted. I saw no building permits posted.

      8. The continental breakfast must have been from a continent where food is scarce. Saturday morning there was none.

I believe here in Indiana, all hotel rooms are required to have a working smoke alarm. Having the power cord for the refrigerator run under the rug is a fire hazard (I UN plugged it). The water damage and mold are a health concern and occupancy would not be permitted here in Indiana. This motel poses a health hazard and a real danger from fire to its guests.

Actually I am amazed that you do not inspect your franchised properties on a regular basis. If you have allowed your other properties (Clarion, Quality, and Sleep Inns) to deteriorate like this one, all my future business and vacation accommodations will be made with other hotel s. I could never recommend Roadway Inns to any friends or business associates.

I am 68 years old and recovering from a recent stroke, but I do not feel that I am being overly picky about the accommodations. You should not allow such substandard motels to carry your name. In addition I feel I was victimized due to my age, the circumstances, and my disability. In short I was screwed and had no recourse; I certainly did not feel like a guest during my stay at this Roadway Inn.

I shall forever recount the story of my stay in the “BATES MOTEL”, it was frightening.

  8. I spent one night at the New Paltz Rodeway, arriving exhausted and just wanting to be out of the car. I grabbed something to eat and crashed, only to realize in the morning that there was no shower -- the diverter isn't working and the tub was not clean. Finally, the machine thaqt dilutes the instant coffee in the lobby was making onloy slightly brown liquid and the second try produced only dirty water. The management had no comment, no acknowledgement, no repsonse. Corporate offers form letters, oh so very personal. I will remember the brand and always be sure to avoid it in the future -- anywhere!

  9. WARNING... stay away from Ft Wright Kentucky Rodeway Inn, In room 213 There was a mildew problem in the restroon, the towel rack was half off the wall, the shower head was not anchored, we found bed bugs as we were packing to leave. We addressed the managers and took a live bed bug to them. We went back into the room and showed the managers all of our concerns and as we lifted the mattress to the bed to find the other bed bug we saw, we found my phone charger. How did my phone charger get underneather this mattress... it's obvious that somebody was in our room while we were at the Cincinnati Duke Energy Convention show. I will never stay in a Rodeway ever again!

  10. The Rodeway Inn at 675 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, PA, (near Philadelphia Airport) is as bad as any of the ones above except no bedbugs. The plastic covers on the mattresses probably prevented that. I didn't inspect the sheets. Should have. We chose this motel for the airport shuttle, the WiFi and the breakfast. We said we are arriving early evening and leaving early morning. The WiFi was intermittent, the breakfast was okay. As we checked in, I said that we will need shuttle to the airport for a 9:45 flight. I was informed that the shuttle doesn't start until 8. When I questioned this, the woman told me that the shuttle driver has a baby. This raised my eyebrows. Then she informed me that the baby was important, too! Wow! Wish I would havr thought of that excuse when I was working with little ones. Anyway, to be on the safe side we took a cab which cost $33.00. Had I known that, I would have booked a hotel with a respected name that would be dependable. Live and learn. One more thing, there was a sign in the bathroom saying that the linens were for sale should we desire them. Ha, ha! They were thinner than the ones I use for rags.

  11. Rodeway Inn in Ocean City, MD is the WORST HOTEL and I have no doubt that is a scam set up on line. First of all, there are TWO HOTELS WITH THE SAME NAME "RODEWAY INN" next to each other. The advertisement says Oceanfront but they what they do not tell you is that there's the hole in the wall Rodeway Inn that sits off the street with a parking lot or street view and then there's the nice Rodeway Inn that sits right off the ocean with an oceanfront view. Unfortunately, our view was the road and the parking lot!!! We paid $108.00 for one night to stay in a hotel with NO VIEW, NOISEY TENANTS UNTIL 2:30AM, which were underage teenagers that drank liquor, yelled and smoked marijuana until 2am in the morning! The phone in my room was busted so I had to use my cell phone to call the front desk. The phone rang 20+ times before someone picked up but she at least came around and kicked the noise makers out. On top of that, there was a street racing event that took place that weekend so the partying didn't stop until 3:30am! When I left I spoke to the manager and he apologized and offered to give us a free stay next year...LIKE THAT'S GONNA' HAPPEN!!!!!

  15. Rodeway inn maingate kissimmee, Fl. has little white bugs everywhere. At first I thought they were just in my room, I called to get a new coffee maker because mine was full of the bugs. I went to get coffee in the breakfast area (no breakfast available) and found that there were more bugs in there than in my room!We checked out and found we were charged almost double for the room and an extra night stay. Management said they couldn't do anything about it now I am disputing charges with the bank and arguing with choice to fix this.

  16. Never stay at the Roadway Inn in Tampa FL on Fowler ave. Bed bugs. Dirty, smells, etc. Their staff lives on the property in which they use drugs and all kinds of other things. They advertise breakfast but only serves doughnuts and old coffee. They will even get upset if you take more than three lol.. I wondered whey the hotel was so cheap ($40.00 per night) since it's right off a major interstate. They charge for everything including ice, phones, fax, copies,etc.. I would not stay there again even if it's was free.

  17. DO NOT STAY EVER AT THE ROADWAY INN IN NATIONAL CITY, CA...I should have read the reviews 1st. yes prostitutes and drug dealers. Bed bugs and dirty nasty pillows and sheets. My mom and I got into town after driving all day. I paid for 2 nights on my credit card. We should have checked the room but we went to dinner before we went into the room. When we got back we were stared down by a ruff looking guy from upstairs. When we went into the room I pulled the top bed spread down because it looked disqusting and saw 2 bugs right away. everything was stained and gross. The security lock was brook on the door. We put our stuff back into the car within 10min and I went to get my refund and the manager Romeo refused it. He was a total and complete jerk. I have never had anyone at a hotel or anyone that is suppose to be customer service treat me that way. He told me that because we had it for 2 hours because of leaving there were no refunds. They do not care about this hotel or the people there. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN NOW!!!!! Yuck!!!

  18. Sure wish I had seen these other reviews BEFORE I stayed at a Rodeway Inn in Lake Havasu City, AZ. My room was the same awlful experience. Think corporate office should be checking these individual hotels out if they want their name on them. I will never stay in a Rodeway Inn again - ever!

  20. Wow not one positive review. Not surprising. This hotel chain is terrible. I stayed at the one in Alameda, CA. I'd stayed there before at the rate of 65 dollars. 2 weeks later I was there again and tried to rent the same size room. He said it would be 95! When I asked why the fee hike he just shrugged and responded "its very expensive today, sir" I asked for a AAA discount and he said that would bring the price down to 85. So a week later I'm going over my bank statement and realized the bastard charged me for the full 95 dollars... and as for the room, as I recall it had a bed sheet stapled to the wall in lieu of actual curtains. To say it wasn't worth the price would be a huge understatement.

  21. My Grandson is staying (unfortunately) at a Rodeway Inn...
I saw his room and if you were claustrophobic you wouldn't be able to stay in that room. His Headboard keeps falling off of the wall and on to the bed, The wall outlet has no cover and the wires are hanging out...The bathroom ceiling fan is exposed (no cover either)...His dresser drawer does not open so you can't put anything in it (not that I would want to anyway...He has red marks on his legs (Im thinking bed bugs) and now his door does not lock and the desk people are telling him to use the window to get in and out???? What the Hell????? My daughter called the desk (his mother) and told them this and they said they were not authorized to fix anything???? and he needed to come to them and not to her....
Well, He did and no results so She called them...
This is a disgrace in addition to the people are not very personable, nice or human...Why would the Board of Health allow this??????
No one ever does anything in these cases.. Also how could State Help allow people to be placed in places like this?????
    Horrible, Horrible Horrible

Actually I stayed in a Rodeway Inn in Florida last year and even though it needed a face lift, I got what I paid for but they were extremely accommodating...

This place my Grandson is staying at isn't even fit for Rats and I mean the Rodents.....

  23. The Rodeway Hampton Coliseum in Hampton VA., was the filthiest hotel I have ever seen. The only reason we stayed there was because we made our reservations through Expedia. We were bumped there because the hotel we originally booked with suddenly was not pet friendly.
I checked for bed bugs and the mattress was filthy stained. There were toenail clippings on the floor. Three days later, after my dog dropped his toy behind the bed, we saw used condoms under the bed. I knew there would be trouble when we walked to our room and saw a squad parked outside. Our first night there, there was a fight outside. I wanted to call the police but my husband said to call the desk. They said it was a man having trouble getting into his room. Really it was some pimp slapping his ho around. Saturday morning I took my dog out for a walk and there were at least a dozen used condoms in the parking lot.
Breakfast was a joke. The orange juice was so diluted it was tasteless. This manager was so cheap that instead of buying individual milk cartons, she obviously bought a cheap gallon of milk and poured it into coffee cups with a lid on it.
We HAD to leave early due to a death in the family and needed to be refunded for three days. I also wanted to be refunded for three days of extra pet fee. Ms. Cassandra Crumble, General Manager, was not in and had to give approval to Expedia for a refund. This woman was conveniently UNAVAILABLE for three days. after explaining everything to Expedia I FINALLY got a refund because THEY could not contact her and told me that it was inappropriate. My banker is watching my credit card and if I do not get a three day refund of pet fees, the whole eight days will be denied.
I had a long talk with management at Expedia in regards to this issue and I believe they are thinking about NOT dealing with Rodeways. They are really bad for business unless you are a pimp and or a whore.

  25. My husband and I are from north of Boston, MA and we stayed at the Roadway Inn/Iris Garden, Sedona, AZ in April, 2013. It was booked by Choice Hotels, who now claim they no longer book with them and so they offer no assistance - so what is the point of membership? In any event, the walls of the Roadway Inn/Iris Gardens were paper thin, front desk service was abominable, phones could be heard ringing through the walls, there is no one to contact after 11:00 p.m. if there is a problem and even during the daytime, the office is often unstaffed. And there were quite a few problems. Sleep disturbances and an absolute lack of customer service/relations. There is apparently a phantom manager, but the clerk's will not provide a phone number and this manager never calls back, despite promises she will. Someone claiming to be the owner was rude and would not even hear our complaint, let along offer an apology or perhaps a credit for the failure of the inn to provide quiet use and enjoyment of the room we rented. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Sedona is lovely, and the Roadway Inn/Iris Gardens really puts a bad taste on an otherwise lovely city.

  26. I reserved & pd for my room through AARP/Expedia. Upon arrival I was also charged by the motel. I thought the clerk was taking my card to have for any incidental expenses from my stay. Instead I was double charged, (I saw it on my bank statement today). We have talked to both the hotel and AARP Travel/Expedia, receiving no solution. My husband and I are very unhappy and unsatisfied customers! To pay once for such poor customer service and a dirty, dumpy room is bad enough. I find this is dishonest and a poor reflection on both entities. I will not recommend the Rodeway Inn motel chain or AARP/Expedia in the future. Sincerely, Linda Twisdale

  27. TODAY I MADE A RESERVATION AT A ROADWAY IN IN BEAVERTON OR. MY CAR BROKE DOWN AND I WAS STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. I REALIZED I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP MY RESERVATION. MY EFFORTS TO CANCEL THE RESERVATION WAS A NIGHTMARE. I WAS REFERRED TO ONE PERSON WHO TOLD ME TO CONTACT SOMEONE ELSE. THAT PERSON TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT CANCEL THE RESERVATION EITHER. I WAS HUNG UP ON SEVERAL TIMES BY THE MOTEL MANAGER, RAJ. WHEN I CALLED HIM ON IT, HE CLAIMED I HAD HUNG UP ON HIM, EVEN THOUGH I HAD WITNESSES THAT COULD CONFIRM THAT HE HUNG UP ON ME. READING THE ABOVE REVIEWS MAKES ME WONDER HOW DOES THIS COMPANY STAY IN BUSINESS. THE STAFF I WAS IN CONTACT WITH CERTAINLY IS NO ASSET TO THEM. I WOULD NOT STAY IN A ROADWAY IF IT WAS THE ONLY MOTEL ON THE PLANET

  29. Stayed in Moultonborough, NH Rode Way Inn-look, I am appalled. White substance on insides of bathroom door. Finger prints all over the walls. Dead insects on the window sill. Filth in the lightswitches. Old coffee stains on top of a grimy microwave. Air conditioner: 1/2 inch dust and pollen on vents INSIDE. I carry disinfectan wipes. Wiped the one table in room-brown-when wet smelled of nicotine. Wiped down remote-gray filth. Exhausted and stayed.
Pool: cloudy. Should be cultured. Bed linens-puleeze-used, dirty.
Guy at the desk-absent. Rang bell. Had to call him on the business line to get a response. Clearly did not give one iota of care (read between the lines). Ah, yes, the tub...peeling and the anti-slip strips were filthy...
After reading the above reviews, I believe the whole chain is going down...I called Corporate and asked for the CEO's name. I do not think this person will care, either.

  30. DO AT STAY AT RHODEWAY INN it is like going to a 3rd world country and the attitude is that of a 3rd world person. I booked a room for Sept 23/13 for 5 days,at Rhodeway INN, N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis Indiana. Up on arrival at approximately 8 pm we were greeted by a lobby with BULLET PROOF GLASS. Before getting our key HAD to SIGN an AGREEMENT of dorm RULES. We were given our room key and upon entering the room it SMELLED like a BAR full of smoke. We went back to the desk and complained and was given another room. The next room OH MY GOD...It was in disrepair. The wall paper was torn, the carpet dirty and the bathroom need a cleaning. Upon checking the bed--BED BUGS.. We checked out. The Rhodeway INN would not give back one night stay due to the fact we had not cancel 24 hours before. HOW CAN WE CANCEL when WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE PLACE until we arrived. Another guest at the so called Inn was sitting in the lobby drinking several cans of beer. He advised me not to stay there that I would not be safe and I looked like a very nice lady. He also advised that most of people staying at this place were long termed guest that could not qualify for other housing. AS I looked around the lobby carpet was filthy, torn and smelled bad. The area smelled like bathroom spray. As we left we saw signs that the pool was closed indefinitely and that they do not provided continental breakfast, food was not allowed in the rooms. DO NOT USE HOTEL PLANNER They do false advertising with pretty pictures, pleasing words and I bet they do not check the places out or they would RUN LIKE HELL. The Rhodeway INN was like going to a third world and the attitude of the clerk is exactly where he was from!

  31. I stopped a several other RHODEWAY INNS while traveling. All seem to be managed by 3rd World Immigrants and they talk to guest as if they were rodents of no intelligence. The few guest I saw were Prostitutes and people with little means to do other accommodations. I did not stay just observed. My advise: RUN LIKE HELL TO OTHER NICER HOTELS LIKE THE LA QUINTA OR FAIRMONT.

  32. We arrived early to this hotel and waited for the 3:00PM check-in as we will be going on a 7-Day Cruise tomorrow morning. Once we were given our rooms (four families) we discovered that the toilets were not flushing and that all four rooms did not have cold running water. When we informed the front desk they told us that the plumbing issue would be fixed by 4PM. At around 4:30PM we started calling the front desk once again and they told us that the issue would now be resolved by 8PM. At around 8:15PM I went to the front desk and there were other irate customers complaining about this same issue. I spoke to the general manager about this and all he had to say was "haven't you ever had any issues with your home?" When I informed him that as paying customers we should have been informed about this situation upon arrival, and that the conditions were unacceptable and we needed to shower and be able to flush the toilets.

His response was, "Do you have a bathing suit? If you do you can jump in the pool!" I was speechless and I have never felt so disrespected in my life. I demanded that he move us to a different room, however he said that if I'd like I could check-out and he would give me a refund, otherwise the best he could do is discount me 30% from the nightly rate and not do any better, because according to him at least I had a TV and a clean room. It is now 11:30PM and the water issue is yet to be resolved.

I am appalled by the poor service and the GM's unprofessional and callous treatment of his customers. He told me that he is also the VP of the hotel. I googled him and he is listed as the owner of this specific location in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I will never visit a Rodeway Inn ever again, and will be sure to share with everyone I know regarding my horrible experience at this place. I am here for the night because I have no choice, however tomorrow morning when all of us check out (four families) we will be canceling our reservations for the two nights after our cruise next weekend and will instead now be staying at another hotel in the area. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in the way this person responded to this issue.

Would not recommend this place to my dog. very upset

  36. I frequently travel, and rely on guest's reviews to determine where I would stay, which is why I selected the Rodeway in Battle Creek, MI. I read some decent reviews, so I felt confident booking a room for two days. I traveled with my family, so we decided to request a room with a double bed. I should have know what I was going to be in store for when I first pulled into the hotel parking.

The parking lot was poorly plowed, and I could barely park my vehicle in a safe place so I could check in. Whomever owns or manages that hotel decided to just push the snow into every other parking spot, which is troublesome for this location because each room is accessed by the sidewalk in front of the parking spots.

When we walked into the room, it was a horrible experience. The room smelled like a sewer, and both the bedding and towels did not look like they were washed or cleaned. In fact, when I pulled away the comforter on one of the two beds, there was a brown stain the size of a basketball in the middle of the bed. We were not sure what that was, so I requested some fresh sheets from the front desk, and remade the bed myself. The night manager was kind enough to provided us with some extra sheets, but even those did not appear to be clean or washed either. We were at least lucky that the sheets did not have any questionable stains.

After accepting that we were stuck at this hotel for the night, we tried to go to bed, but that was our next challenge. At various times throughout the night, there was loud noises from the parking lot area and later the Battle Creek Police Department showed up with a few uniformed officers to deal with an incident involving multiple tenants in a room directly across from ours. We did not sleep at all that night, which really affected both us and our children the next morning.

Around 7:00AM the next morning, I woke up the night manager (who was sleeping on a couch behind the front desk), and informed him that we were planning on checking out of the hotel that morning. I also informed him that my Discover Card was charge twice last night. He said that they were aware that something was wrong with the reservations and that they charged my card twice. In fact, when he showed me the receipt for both rooms, I noticed that someone had forged my signature on the credit card receipt for the other room. I informed him that I had not signed that receipt, nor stayed in that other room. I also informed him that I would dispute that charge with Discover Card, and that I would like a copy of the forged receipt. Later that morning, the management team credited my Discover Card and provided me with the forged receipt. I was not out any money, but upset with the whole ordeal. Since I only booked through choicehotels.com, I knew that this was clearly someone who worked for the hotel that initiated that fraudulent transaction.

  37. We booked this hotel (Quality Inn) through HotelNParking.com. Big Big mistake, first off, the next day our credit card was compromised and had to be cancelled. Secondly HotelNParking assured us that that our vehicle would be in a secure lot. After arriving at the Quality Inn we were then told that this was not where we would park our car but about 15 minutes down the road at the ROADWAY INN. After arriving at the ROADWAY DAY we were told to back in our truck at the fence and put the park sign in the dash, we were actually parked in the second spot as soon as you turn into the parking lot. We are now not real happy with this but once again through the booking process were led to believe this was secure lot even though we realized upon arrival that it was out in the open and at the front of the Hotel and surely must have an all-night security guard. But, we found out after arriving back 7 days later not so. While we were on our cruise we came back and found the tail gate of our truck had been stolen, it has a backup camera and pull down step which is an expensive item. Note this truck was backed all the way to the curb and there was not a lot of room between the tail gate and the fence. This happened right in the front side of the hotel but no one saw anything!
Off course both hotels were quick to tell us OH! that's the web site not us, you need to book directly to us. Okay, if that is so, my question is, why would you let other booking sites represent your name or book your rooms through them if they are not secure. Someone in your Information Services Department should be checking these sites out because it does represent your name.
Obviously this site is a scam and you would be wise not to associate your name through them or let alone take bookings from them. Also we left a deposit of $92.00 and after checking in was not deducted from our amount. I guess we are glad that is all we lost plus an expensive tail gate!

      Rodeway Inn Kissimmee, FL Complaint
I cancelled a reservation with this hotel weeks in advance and my credit card was charged anyway. When I cancelled I was told they couldn't give me a cancellation number due to inability to access that part of the computer, but my reservation was removed as well as my credit card number, so not to worry. They spent several minutes cancelling it and all sounded legitimate. Noticed the charge weeks later The hotel supervisor refuses to give me a refund. I called the Better Business Bureau and was told they have an "F" rating due to these type complaints. Choice Hotel Corporate says they have no authority bc it is privately owned and they only provide registration and advertisement services. The supervisor refuses to provide the owners name or address for me to contact. Filed a complaint with FL Dept of Consumer Services and Dept of Professional Regulation. Its not the $44 they charged me but the principle and the fact that I believe thousands of consumers are being scammed this way by this hotel. They figure whose going to go out of their way to complain for $44., and who can they complain to if they don't know the owner. Will continue to post to let consumers know the result.

  39. I stayed at the Rodeway Inn in Fort Lauderdale FL prior to my cruise. The day I returned from my cruise I checked my credit card account and noticed that there was a charge on my card posted by the hotel. I immediately called the hotel and was told it was only a hold amount due to using a debit card. I waited 11 business days from the day the charge posted and the amount had not been credited back to my account. I called the hotel and was put on hold for 8 mins before being disconnected. I called again and got a very rude person. She told me that I was charged as a no-show. I informed her that I was there for 2 days. She found another reservation number with my name on it different than the one connected to my stay. I told her the date a month prior to my arrival I made a reservation for one day. I called an spoke to someone about adding an additional day to that reservation with the AARP discount. I was told they do not accept AARP. I asked if I could change it to the Military discount or should I cancel that reservation and make a new one. She said I could make s new one. I asked her to cancel the first. It is not obvious she di not do so. The rude women on the phone kept telling me I was a no-show. I got tired of arguing with her and demanded to speak to a manager. She said he wasn't in, he was away at a conference and to call back on Monday. This was a Thursday that I was talking to her. I called Monday and he never picked up the phone and he didn't have a voicemail. I called again the next day and got no answer. I called the hotel on Wednesday and asked to speak to the manager on duty and was told no manager was here and would not be back until Saturday. Today is Saturday and still no manager available. I was told to call tomorrow. I am over this crap and will contact the corporate office. I am a Choice Privilege member and I travel a lot and will never use or recommend this hotel branch again.

  40. My husband and I stayed at the Rode way Inn in Ontario California this weekend with his work, the place is so run down and dirty. Our room floor was so dirty, we would get out of the shower and are feet were so black again. Walls were dirty and greases, table broke, wood of the night stands. Air Cond. leaking water on the floor by the door. No water pressures in the shower, And lets not talk about the Hot tub. We will never stay at a rode way inn again and my husband stays in hotels 5 nights a week,

  41. Stayed in Rodeway Inn room 102, 1315 North 27th Street, Billings, Montana last night. I should have refused the room--having been told right away that the computer in the lobby was "down", and having noticed upon entering the room that the heater/AC unit was obviously in need of serious maintenance. But, I was tired. In the morning I noticed the rotting ceiling above the bathtub, the "couldn't care less" attachment of the wall rack above the toilet, the very loose, sloppy shower curtain rod attachment, and the creative use of caulking compound around the tub (caulk is supposed to be used to span minor surface imperfections and gaps--not the huge ones there).

The only reason these things occur is because the owners and district managers allow them to happen.

    Period.
