  1. Dear Payless Shoes Inc,
My daughter got her eye sprayed with display parfum at Sunnyvale Payless store. You guys please do something so other children will not experience the same thing. The display was way to low, as low as my 3 year old's mid section. She got her eye sprayed by other 5 year old - ish girl from a distance of 5 inches and spend a good 20 - 30 minutes crying for her eyes. That was horrible experience for a mom to watch. You should not put display of alcohol in children's reach. I'll be waiting for your response...i hope you can make a different .

    Thanks,
    lucia

  3. My name is Yvonne, and I live in Owen Sound on. I was in our payless shoe store today and was disgusted at the service I got or should I say didn't get. I worked briefly at this store and I guess since I left my money must not be any good. Not once did the manager or her employee ask me if I needed any help, they wouldn't even look at me. AS soon as someone else walked in they were both all over her. I myself work with the public and would never dream of treating a customer or an employee like that. If I did I wouldn't even expect to keep my job.

  4. Dear Payless,
ON 8/22/2112 I visited 2 of you Alexandria Va stores, as we were vacationing from NY and our Daughter had broken her flip flop, and needed a new pair. In both stores they were clean, but what impressed me was your sales people who went above and beyond to try and locate a pair in another store and called on the phone to verify that hey had them, gave us a 4.00 off coupon and did it with a SMILE and as pleasant as could be. Thank you and maybe send some of those people to NY to train people in the payless here. We are lucky we get a hello or even have them stop texting for a minute to help us. To the Alexandria store near the Boston Market and the other one up the road Great job to the entire staff. You are representing payless in an awesome way. When we come back to Va we will shop there again. Clare M from NY

  5. What a disappointment the BOGO sales have been! Since adopting the exclusion of GREEN TAGS in the BOGO sales, there's now a limited benefit for BOGO. I used to love PAYLESS stores and the BOGO deals, but as of late, I'm not really paying much less than if I would go to the competitor's stores. I, being a coupon kind of gal, can now find better deals at other stores when using their coupons!

Your BOGO sales used to eliminate the "fine print" and now when shopping at your stores, you have to be very careful not to really like a pair of shoes with a green ticket on it!

I know times are tough, but when a faithful customer of many years, goes to your stores for the value that we've grown accustomed to, and get something else, it's really disappointing.

The ads are misleading and the big signs in the stores, though they have that fine print, just aren't enough for the old customers with BOGO engrained in the brain, the way it used to be.

Just as a suggestion, before the cashier rings up the items, maybe they could point out that an item is a green tag. Even though there may be one on it, for the customer's sake, who has their eyes set on the shoes and having old habits die hard, this would be a benefit. I've been a witness to two cases, where customers go home without the shoes after they see the final cost isn't what they thought it was going to be!

I still do love your shoes, and thank you for the good years. I'll just have to be more aware and kill an old habit.

    1. BOGO used to be buy one get one free. It's what got people into the stores. Now it's more about the money than the customers. The nice shoes people want are as expensive as everywhere else, the cut priced ones are what they couldn't get rid of or are off season shoes. I used to shop there several times a year, 4 or 5 times, now ~maybe~ once a year. If I'm going to pay the same as the other stores, why leave them just to get shoes? And the employees don't help anyone anymore either. It just isn't worth the bother.

  6. To the mom whos little girls eye got sprayed: you should watch your kid when youre out stores arent responsible for your child being unattended by her mom, insteqd of blaming the store keep your child close to you! whT if somwone would hd ran out the store with her? now a days people want to blame everyone else for parents letting there children roam free as if employees are your baby sitters. Some people leave items every and let there children touch everything with the escuse of there only a little kid, enstill good manners in there minds from childhood so they know they cant getaway with everything. this is why kids go into schools and shoot everybody.

  8. Today I was in search of a non-canvas bottom pair of shoes for my one year old child. My local Payless in Williamsport, PA is in the same plaza as a Kmart. Trying to think ahead and prevent my toddler from tearing the store apart, I grabbed a cart from Kmart. I barely made it in the door when two middle aged women stopped me in my tracks, saying I couldn't bring the cart in. They didn't just say it, they very rudely spat it out at me. I said, "I guess I don't need to spend my money here then." The oldest of the women said," No, you don't. Have a nice day." I would expect women to understand the type of destruction a toddler could potentially create. I have zero intention of ever shopping at any Payless due to the extreme lack of common courtesy. Obviously if two women at one store have that type of personality, that must be the type of person that is hired by this company and I refuse to subject myself or family to such terrible behavior.

    1. You aren't alone in that thought. The store I used to shop in is in Massachusetts and rude is only the beginning of how awful those employees are. The LAST time I ever shopped at Payless I asked for some help finding a particular shoe, it was in the stack at the top of the rack. The girl there told me it was out of stock, I pointed at the box up on top. She gave me a crap look, walked away shouting at the other girl to ignore me if I came to her for help. Said all I wanted was for one of them to break a heal on the ladder. I walked out, refuse to go back. Payless doesn't care about people anymore.

  12. Your manager at Payless in Pine Center Mall in Canada is a rude, un-emotional callas of a woman not only has she made an employee cry but she did it twice! After ragging on her clothes (which in my opinion was acceptable for stock day) she not only told her that's she's lucky she's not fired for wearing such tasteless clothes but she's super lucky she isn't making her go home and change her clothes. Not only do you not say that to your employee but you do not say this in front view of your customers after which she excused herself and went to the back to cry.
The next day she came back in and bitched again . I'm sorry but are your employees not allowed a smoke break if they punch out? She pushed her aside and flat out told her no. After which she stood with her daughter in the back and processed to seem everything and everyone wrong.
I have never seen such rude callas behaviour from some one there. When I went in before she was there everyone was happy and cheerful and loved to be there but since this "new manager" started Amy her name is everyone just seem so tense and miserable . She is a miserable person who does not deserve her title

  13. Please ether take off or shorten the back to school commercial to one "oh yeah" it is so annoying!!!!! I change my channel I am watching just because me and my daughter hate it so much!!!! It does not make someone think well of your company if they are being annoyed by you commercial over and over again! Look on the internet ..we are not the only ones feeling this...

  14. I wanted to return a pair of shoes that I had for a week and the soles were junk, but the manager was snotty and told me that they don't do exchanges just to get new shoes. Last I checked if your shoes are junk, and I wanted to exchange it was okay. I had asked the manager before with no problem. I didn't like the disrespect and attitude I got from the sales associate. Please clarify what the customer can do if the shoes are unsatisfying and don't last more than a week?

  16. Let me explain...bought a pair of boots. I tried the left boot on but not the right. my bad. When i went to put boots on the next morning I could not wear the right boot. I placed the boots back into the box with tags in place and receipt. Told the clerk what happened and she states that the only thing she could do was give me a Payless gift card and not give me my cash back. If I would have paid with a debit or credit card then she could reverse charges but since I paid cash I had to accept the gift card. Read their sign...does it say anything about store credit or gift card if you have a receipt? SO 38 dollars and some change lost from me for boot not fitting. Payless get less is no longer a store on my shopping list. Now forced to use or lose all with gift card. So my husband dound some shoes and socks to get so at least money wasnt totally lost. Now I am bootless, moneyless and not happy. Payless revise your sign to say, pay cash, need to return get screwed. Thank you and come again. And to the lovely clerk have a FABULOUS DAY. that is what she said to us. Rant over until I get a hold of corporate office.

  17. Saw your ad on TV which said "Entire stock of boots is 50% off". Decided to drive there even though I live several towns away only to find the only boots 50% off were the fashion boots. I needed winter boots because a blizzard was forecasted for the next day. Please expalin....WHY THE FALSE ADVEADVERTISIN????

  21. You never "pay less" at Payless. Their shoes are way overpriced for the quality and supposed "comfort" they offer. It's all man made materials that feel like plastic and extremely uncomfortable to wear.

  22. I just left the Mansfield, Ohio Payless and I will never return again. While shopping my daughter and I were looking in the kids shoes and one of the girls working was trying to get some boxes that were on top of the shelves. She was clearly having trouble and one of the boxes fell (no big deal) but she got angry and took the black thing that she was reaching with and purposely forcefully knocked down a bunch of other boxes which hit me and my 10 year old daughter. We didn't get an I'm sorry or anything, all we got were several dirty looks from her. we continue to look and she then again knocks down more boxes that again one hits my daughter...still NO "I'm sorry" just dirty looks. I said forget it I'm not spending my money somewhere that we get hit with boxes and can't even get an "I'm sorry". I didn't say it quietly, I wanted to make sure she heard me and as I'm walking away she said quietly "why don't you say it a little louder". I got the manager and he said he would talk to her but either way I will not be returning. I don't appreciate my child almost getting hit in the head several times by careless employees.

  23. Do not ever work or shop at payless shoesource in any of the 5 Corpus Christi, TX locations. I've work at 3 out of 5 of those stores and have only been with payless 6 months and I can run the store just like an assistant manager(opening-closing) and I'm only getting paid what a regular associate gets paid. My manager Crystal Campos runs two payless stores (airline and spid off greenwood) and only has one assistant manager (Annabell) so while she's worried about her audit at Airline this past month I was stuck running the Greenwood store by myself cause she needed help from Annabell and had her at airline. This lasted almost 3 weeks and I was the one doing everything and all that I ever got was that everything wasn't good enough and I got in trouble for little things that don't matter (ex. Not having stickers in numerical order in the backroom) I did not get a "thank you" or an "I appreciate you taking care of the store for me" or a "good job" or anything! Long story short.. She (Crystal) changes people's time sheets and she'll add in a 1 hr break for people when they really didn't take one. (Which should be considered illegal and I have a witness) She has her "favorite" Amanda Baseda that she goes out places with and helps her find apartments and etc. Amanda can do whatever she wants cause her and Crystal are BFF's.
We have daily goals that must be met with sales and upt's and both Amanda and Crystal will cover up the censors that count the people coming into the store so they can look good and at the end of the day have a higher conversion. Which is not fair because she is not the only manager I've ever had and we actually had to work hard to make our numbers.
Crystal is NOT A GOOD MANAGER at all.. She will completely mess up schedules and have people at wrong stores and she SHOULD NOT even be manager because recently she got arrested for DWI and has to go to court and everything for it.. Like really Payless? You want someone like this to be representing your company?
She can not spell to save her life and she takes credit for everything the employees do. And on top of it all, I don't know why this chick is even a manager. She is horrible at customer service and is super awkward with customers when she's trying to explain promos it sounds like she reading off of a paper with no expression, all mono-tone and robotic like, and she doesn't even offer socks or jewelry. She's even said it herself that she isn't a sales person and that I'm so good at sales. Like why are you working for Payless if you can't sale? That's what they (area leader; Norma Delapaz and district leader; Ray Martinez) are always pushing for. It is honestly disgusting to me that she's running two stores cause I know both the stores could be run so much better. I've even brought up a couple of complaints to Norma the area leader and she kind of blew me off. I now no longer work for payless as of 3 days ago. And I'm so happy.. I don't ever want to go back and be subject to this ridiculously cheap and poorly ran company. Take your money and job interest elsewhere.

  24. I would like to express my dissatisfaction this afternoon, Sunday July 19th at a Payless store I was in today at North Dartmouth Mall location in Dartmouth, MA around 2pm. Upon entering the store with my nine year old sister I was not greeted by anyone. As I was looking for shoes for her, several employees walked by us who did not offer any assistance. As she was trying on shoes we overheard employees loudly talking in the next aisle by the cash register (and children's shoes) about their personal lives. One employee was talking about the type of underwear she was wearing and the color it was and if it was see through and talking about men being able to see it. She also said a customer was wearing purple underwear the other day and making comments about how stupid she was. Another customer on the side of me gave me a look and definitely thought that they were inappropriate conversations, as well as did I. As I was leaving they all just stared at me and did not say good bye or even say to have a nice day. I was disgusted in the customer service I received today and I believe actions should be taken to make sure this doesn't happen again.
