  2. Several months ago, this same ad ran and I walked into Marshalls in Arroyo Grande, CA with my cover letter, resume, and references. I asked for the store manager and after 30 minutes he met with me. Although the ad said to apply at the store, he informed me that I had to apply online. This is a discrepancy in what the actual ad indicated.

I am 53 years old and I believe that I was not even considered for the job because of my age. I am more than qualified for the job and have a B.S. in Business Administration, Marketing Concentration from San Jose State University. It is unfortunate that your employees discriminate against persons of age.

I wanted to bring this to your attention because I don't think that Marshalls Corporation is a company that practices age discrimination.

I want to hear an explanation as to why he did not interview me or did not offer an application. I have submitted an application online as well.

Today, October 9, 2012, I was shopping at TJ Maxx in Watchung, NJ. The store was well stocked therefore I brought many items. I had a pair of pants to return and proceed to the return line. I was the only person on this line. Laura the cashier told me to wait for the young man who was ringing up someone at register 2. After waiting politely and watching Laura standing at her register looking around, the young man returned the pants and proceeded to ring my items. Just as he was in the middle of my order, a white lady entered the return line and Laura proceed to take items out of the ladies bag and return her items. I was very shocked because it appeared that she did not was to service me and wanted me to wait for the African American cashier to wait on me. Shortly, the manager came to the front of the store as if he was summoned. He looked over at me and I motioned that I needed to see him since Laura had summoned him. I told the manager what happended and he said that it will never happen again and that Laura would be talked to. I told the manager, "It appears that Laura was trying to exercise racism by not servicing me. I told him that I have very deep pockets when shopping at Marshalls and TJ Maxx and I did not expect to be treated this way". He said, "I am sorry about what happened". I spent Bridgewater, NJ Promenade 0743024294 10/9/12 12:52 0071 $227.30 and $278.37 at 081031886 10/9/12 15:07:09 1080. I have shopped at these stores for over 38 years and have always enjoyed being one of your Maxinesta and Marshalldiva. I may be reached at shirwatson@yahoo.com

  4. I have shopped at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for 40 years but recently now cannot walk and neither the Pace Florida or new Pensacola Florida stores have any wheelchairs or drive carts. I would hate after all these years to give up my credit card and do elsewhere. I have spoken to both store who told me to contact corporate but I just get passed around via the phone without any resolution. Please get handicap friendly !

  5. I have shopped with Marshalls for years and never had a problem until I visited the Marshalls in Alpharetta, Georgia, I was returning a Cashmere scarf and could not locate receipt but tag was still on it, but not price tag. When sensor was removed the tag must have came off. I recently moved into a new home and had all my receipts in a bag. I encountered this assistant manager named ROSE she said the scarf was $29 advised her I paid $49 for it, it was 100% Cashmere and you could look at it and tell the quality of the item did not compare to a $29 scarf. She was rude and would not call another store to verify the price , I was so upset I just told the young lady that was ringing me up on another purchase ,if she ever made asst mgr or manager to keep a positive attitude and be kind to customers. I advised Mrs. Rose I had been shopping at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for years and know a lot of managers at the majority of locations in Atlanta, I am also familiar with the merchandise and the departments. I have a recovery business and shop in whatever area I work. She gave me this nasty look and I advised her would be contacting corporate . In which I did speak with Kate and advised her of my concern. I tried reaching the district manager Roosevelt but was unable to reach him. I pray that Marshalls reconsider this lady Rose as a manager she has a terrible disposition, she is not people oriented no personality. I recently visited this store and here comes sour grapes ROSE no personality, I spoke with my favorite associates and they said she was up for a promotion, I hope Marshalls would not consider this lady she is not good for the business, I was told by a customer that heard the altercation that so many people have complained. I drove 30 miles to my favorite store in Buckhead-Peachtree street and returned the scarf at the price I told her, they were on a rounder in front of the store for $49.99. The Peachtree st store is the best in Atlanta everyone is friendly and they know their product, they go above and beyond to assist you...I love the store Managers Cassie, Barbara, Igor, Robert, everybody love Mrs. Linda. I pray that this store would get rewarded for their outstanding quality of customer service and kindness...what a excellent Experience when I or colleagues visit this store. Having said that I am a three times Business Owner and Love Marshalls and TJ Maxx, i hope that you would pick the fruit when it's ripe and not half-ripe...

  6. Just this past Saturday, April 6, 2013 I had the worst experience at Marshalls. I was checking out at the register and swiped my store card and it was not going thru. I know that I had available credit because I hadn't reached my credit limit. The cashier then told me that I needed authorization for my purchase and then she called customer service. I was LIVID! I couldn't believe that this company put a hold on my card because they needed to verify my address. Instead of calling me like they should have, they embarrassed me in front of about 8-10 people. I spoke to the rep from the register and held up the line only because this company is so lazy! Marshalls is ridiculous, they completely altered my mood and most of all when I called customer service after leaving the store to complain, they didn't help me at all. I will be contacting corporate because I feel like if they needed to speak to me then they should've call me and not put a hold on my card in order for me to call them!!! After this experience I don't think I will ever shop there again! Customers are supposed to leave a store satisfied but I left pissed off!

  7. I never experienced racism in the workplace in till I worked for marshalls in Fontana. The Hispanic associates, and the Hispanic store Manager discriminate against the Caucasian, and African American associates. Shame on you tjx company for letting your associate use the n word, and calling other associates Changas.

    1. I also worked for Marshalls and experienced racism and bullying in the workplace, which let to me having a nervous breakdown. When I addressed the issue with management I was basically harassed into quitting.

  8. Today at the store in Austell, GA, January 1, 2014 Marshalls and their store mgr Courtney is selling used boots at new boots prices. I actually mentioned it to the store mgr, showed it to her because I liked the boots a lot but I don't think I should have paid new boot prices when you could tell the boots had been worn on the heel, sides and they were creased. The store mgr insulted me and told me the best she could do was take $5.00 off of a pair of boots that they wanted 69.99 for. A couple of other customers told me they could tell they were not NEW. For many years I have paid thousands of dollars in Marshalls but you know, this is the 1st day of the year and I am going to find some place else to shop that sells NEW MERCHANDISE. If I want to buy USED then I will do so at a USED or THRIFT store and will pay USED prices. Happy New Year Marshalls!!! You will have one less customer this year!

  9. I shop @ the Palmer Square Shopping Center New Rochelle, NT 10801.
It is so depressing. The check out people all talk within them selves, never look you in the eye & are basically rude!
The clearance rack is always a mess. the wrong sizes are just stuffed thrown in there. torn & ripped. The workers don't care, they just put them back any old way. wronh sizes in every department. Takes the fun out of shopping.
Spring is here & we would love to have some shopping choices, but there's nothing new fresh or exciting to purchase.
Marshall's needs a new buyer for the store.
The shopping experience is not pleasant. A disappointed Larchmont shopper. Why not send some one head quarters to check out this mess of a place in a community where shoppers have the money but are looking for a good deal.

  12. Today I went shpping in the Marshalls store in the Bronx on Fordham road. They have a clearence sign. I decided to purchase a Yankees candle that I thought I was on clearance because that's what the red tag said. As the lady rings my candle she tells me in a very rude, dismissive tone thats not the price. I say well it was on the clearence shelf. She tells me no.i believe the customer is always right. MATTO. Unfortunately since we live in the ghetto people have taken away that privilege. Also the store is always dirty, sloppy the associates always have a attitude. If u are in the Bronx , ny area. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT THIS LOCATION IT IS A DUMP AND A WASTE OF TIME.

  13. Worst experience ever at the marshalls south plainfield NJ. I bought a steve madden purse and a dress from marshalls in clark NJ. I was shopping in south plainfield and decided to return my purshase there. The purse had a strong weird smell that would not come off and the dress looked used which I didn't notice when I bought. So I get to the counter a the ignorant cashier tells me with a nasty attitude that I would get store credit instead of cash. Merchandise purchased less than a month. Then she goes in the back and tells me her manager said that I should return it where I purchase it instead and that she wouldn't take the bag and the dress. I have both the receipt and tags. This is crazy now I have to find time to go back to the store in clark NJ to get a resolve to my problem. What a way to treat customers. Bad bad customer service.
