My FICO is 850. I have millions in equity in my home. . . . and no response for multiple HELOC applications in Maine. If they are not interested in lending under these circumstances, they aren’t open to anyone’s business. Arent bank’s supposed to lend?

Attn. Key Bank Corporate Headquarters - Lack of security checks

Rated 1.0 out of 5

On 8/23/23 I discovered that an unauthorized payment of $542.35 was taken from my checking account. Key closed my account, refunded my money, and opened a new account pending an investigation that may take 45 days. Upon issuing the new account, they did not offer to give me replacement checks. My question is why isn’t there a security code, password, or question required before a checking account transaction can be completed online? Additionally, l reported the probable identity of the person who stole the money and was told by the fraud department that the bank doesn’t investigate nor pursue charges.

When my husband passed away (almost four years ago) I had a terrible time with Key Bank in Middletown, NY closing his account. Needless to say when I set up the estate account it was with another bank! Yesterday my "deceased" husband received a letter from someone in Key Bank, Brooklyn branch (no way near me) that they were not going to pursue a $50.00 balance through collections because the statute of limitations expired. My husband was always very proud of his credit rating and I had never been contacted about any balance from anyone. I was his executor. I went to the local branch for an explanation and was told the account was closed 4 years ago!! I already new that. The manager said they do not list a reason for a closed account and not to worry about it. I just wanted an explanation of the charge and why I was not notified before hand. No answer! Just a reread of the letter. Very frustrating. I know it is only $50 but I am furious for the lack of concern, respect and record keeping. Everything is not on the computer or generated by the computer! No personal care. No wonder banks are in trouble with people like that making decisions.
