    1. I have been a loyal JC Penny customer for over 30 years - Go JC Pennys, Ellen Degeneres & Ron Johnson! I have no respect for anyone who judges others, we all make mistakes, we are human, hope you realize your mistake for judging what you have no right to! I will be Loyal to JCP for the rest of my life.

    2. I have been a loyal JCP shopper for over 30 years. Not any more. How hard is it to find a spokesperson who represents mainstream values, not the liberal left?

    3. My first credit card was w/ JCP. Since they have a new agenda of their own - I refuse to shop there until their bankruptcy sale! Who do they think built JCP into what it ONCE was?? I "vote" with my feet & I choose to say no more JCP!

    4. I was raised on J C Penney's merchandise for over 50 years. Then my kids were born and my family and I shopped there for years. Once they started making all the changes that have not worked out, and hired the spokesperson Ellen Degeneres for the second year, it is over for me. She does not represent family values and she is way too liberal to advertise for where I shop and spend my money. Mr J C Penney is probably turning over in his grave!

    6. I recently went on a little shopping spree at JC Penney's. I love this store and have be shopping there since I was in grade school , so over 40 years.I also worked at Penney's at the Hilltop Mall in Richmond California. In all my years of shopping there the last 2 times I went I was very disturbed by the fact that there were actually employees sitting on the floor in the clothes department with clothes from the shelf, rack , bins or where ever they belonged and were folding them right there on the floor. I couldn't believe it. My recent visit also had me disgusted with more then one display where the clothes were messed up and on the floor. Whats up Penney's get with program. As far as the spokesperson goes I'm just disgusted with most celebrities and the garbage that is on T.V. People and companies are losing respect for this country and its citizens.

  2. I came to this website because I would like to talk to someone on the phone about their poor choice of hiring Ellen Degeneres as spokesperson. I am a Christian woman who loves to shop at JC Penneys. I felt very comfortable with this very nice store for years. Now I am losing respect for this store!

    1. Well I am an Atheist woman who believes in the dignity and worthiness of all people. I fully support Ellen's new role! I pledge to spend just as much as "PO" stops spending at JC Penny to make up the difference.

Shame that Christians are the bigoted ones these days. Jesus preached love didn't he?

      Delete
    2. I spent most of our childrens clothing allownce at J. C Penney. I am not bigoted and yes Jesus loves us sinners at the same time He hates our sins (that is why He died on the cross) There are other stores that reflect my values where I will be shopping. We have been Pennys customers for years and are sorry that you have made this choice. Please reconsider your choice

    3. Ellen DeGeneres seems to me like a kind, funny and talented person; surely her good heart is more important than her sexual orientation. (And what does religion have to do with it? Consider this: Jesus embraced the poor and the outcast--the "different"--much more warmly than he did the rich and the powerful.)

I'll be shopping at JCP more these days, for both my straight and my gay relatives and friends.

    5. I think there are some Christians who are giving Christianity a bad name. (PO who posted previously is one such person.) I now cringe when I hear someone describe themselves as Christian much as many Christians cringe when they hear Islamic or Muslim. In reality, there are Islamics and Islamic extremists; Muslims and Muslim extremists; Christians and Christian extremists. The Christians who are being so judgemental and uncharitable to their fellow human beings who happen to love differently than they love, are Christian extremists and are being allowed to coopt the Christian religion. I wish they would start identifying themselves as Christian extremists.

    6. I am Christian and a JC Penny card holder but I am done shopping at JC Penny as long as she is spokesperson. JC Penny is pandering to the "gay community", after all they have the money to spend right! Johnson and JC Penny is sending the wrong message to America and the world. Now, we have to embrace your sin or we are bigots. I can find somewhere else to shop believe me. I want a company that stands up for real principles and core values not pandering to perverts.

    7. Good for you for not following the masses who want out children to believe that any and every lifestyle is ok as long as it is popular. I've closed my account after decades with JCP. I pray that people will verbalize their position on this sad choice of a spokesperson.

    8. I will never shop at JCP again, until they find a spokesperson who is more mainstream. I walked into our local store with a huge bag of stuff I bought elswhere and talked to the manager about the business they were loosing. Too bad, I used to love JCP. Not anymore.

    9. IM GAY AND LAST TIME I CHECKED THEY ONLY PERSON THAT NEEDS TO JUDGE ME IS THE LORD ABOVE!!! I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I BELIVE IN JESUS AND GO TO CHURCH. YOU HAVE SOME HARD CORE ISSUES IF YOU CANT SHOP AT A STORE JUST BECAUSE OF WHO THEIR SPOKES PERSON IS. ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE SOCIETY FEEL THIS WAY AND WHY WE HAVE A HIGH SUICIDE RATE. THANK YOU JCPENNEY FOR BE DIVERSE.

    10. You believe in Jesus Christ and go to church...I guess that's all it takes huh? We clearly don't have to obey His word against homosexuality...and to blame people who actually stand for the word of God as being the reason people commit suicide is just wreckless...you indeed are free to choose whatever you want to but please don't put a Holy God in your unholy-selfish-and flesh filled mess

      Delete
    11. Read Romans 1 and Jude...stop trying to pass off obedience to God and doing as His word states with improperly judging...Stop using 'judge not' out of context....Read the rest of the verses that go along with that...it is talking about hypocritical judgement. He tells us to judge righteously and to judge ALL things by His Word. Stop proclaiming to be a Christian and then denying His word. God is a God of love and mercy but also a God of Judgement...and we are told to tell people what the Judge says about sin and their condition.

      Delete
    12. As a Christian woman myself...I value, respect and admire those who do not hurt others, praise and do good deeds, spread the word of love and generosity just like Ellen. Who are we to judge? Can you say that God is hating anyone who is different? The Bible, by the way, was written by men, and is interpreted by people, fallible human beings to mean different things...

    1. This reply is to Anonymous who posted on Feb 7 at 6:57 PM: Why would a business like Christianity hire a controversial person like Jesus as a spokesperson? Controversial people challenge us all. I think it was an amazing business decision. I will continue to shop JC Penney. Love and acceptance of all human beings is the wave of the future and JC Penney will be riding that wave!

    2. Doolin is correct -- we all need challenges and unfortunately many on this thread are challenged in the brain wisdom capacity to acknowledge such. @Anonymous: Why would you care about a stupid business decision? Especially if you would not give a hoot about JCP's business decisions until someone who is homosexual is involved in the process of marketing their brand. I am going shopping tomorrow!!

My mother worked for Penney's in the 1940s, I worked for JC Penney in the 1960s, my niece and sister-in-law worked for JC Penney in the 1990s. We are proud of JC Penney for selecting Ellen DeGeneres as spokesperson and not folding to the Million Mom's movement. Ellen is kind, does good works is generous and cares about her fellow human beings. She is an excellent role model.

  8. Thank you, JC Penney, for standing up against the hate campaign of One Million Moms. You are unique in this time of large corporations kowtowing to the demands of these types of fringe groups doing their level best to propagate hate and intolerance. You are definitely winning more customers than you are losing...GOOD FOR YOU!!

  9. JC PENNEY'S HAS MY SUPPORT!! Thanks JCP for choosing Ellen as your spokesperson- she's a wonderful role model with such a good heart who never ceases to amaze me with the compassion and generosity she continually extends to others who are less fortunate! (Not to mention she's hilarious)! I didn't shop at JCP much before this but will definitely make it a point to do so from now on because I'm thrilled to support you and your decision to hire Ellen!! Let's all show those hate-mongering million MORONS- oops, I meant moms- that their message of intolerance and discrimination is NOT Christian nor is it promoting family values and that it won't be tolerated!! KUDOS JCP!!

In fact, I wasnt planning on buying anything this week, but I will, thanks to the million moms. Yep, I pledge to spend no less than $100.00 at JC Penney this week to show my support. Anyone with me?

  11. There is the natural and normal there are perversions of those; Ellen is addicted to perversion ergo a pervert. The one and only God destroyed Sodom, Gomorrah and the ten surrounding cites over such perversions and He is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. It is one thing to fall short , (sin), it is another thing to chase after the condition of falling short, (sinning)she is among the latter. May JCP reap what they sow, (they just will not be doing any "reaping" from me).

  12. Not to get off the subject Ellen I do support her and the cause. However been an employee for many years and going thru the thick and thin of JCP changes, some store managers don't care of employee who are loyalty and have good work ethic, when times are slow our hours do get cut, but why cut hours for someone who's been with the company so long and keep lazy young people who dont even care. when the spring/summer hits they don't show up. I'm trying to keep my job. Force all people out over 9yrs. GAstore.

  18. My wife worked for JCP 1751 for 15 years was tardy because she was scheduled to work on her off day. Also was a faithful, loyal, ethical, moral, and trusted employee. She was not schedules for two weeks because she did not push credit applications. Two weeks of punishment has now turned into 4 weeks. No work ethics from the manager to even tell her that she is no longer needed. Just leave her on a schedule hoping that she will just disappear. I also agree that Mr Penney would be disgusted with what has become of his stores. What ever happened to the golden rule. Mr. Penney based his company upon the golden rule "Treat others as you would have them treat you." He believed that the Golden Rule applied to all aspects of life, and he intended to build a business using the Golden Rule as his philosophical cornerstone. J.C. Penney was a man of strong personal integrity. He did what was right in business and treated people like he wanted to be treated. His business was a success because he worked hard, sold quality goods at fair prices, valued his customers, and treated them with respect and kindness. “In retailing, the formula happens to be a basic liking for human beings, plus integrity, plus industry, plus the ability to see the other fellow’s point of view.” His customers and employees were loyal to him because he was loyal to them. “Courteous treatment will make a customer a walking advertisement.” He had a very strong work ethic. Many businesses today are owned by people who have weak character, are greedy for profit, and are driven by the almighty dollar and personal gain. He had the right idea and he was a successful businessman and person. Unless they knew their communities and unless they were prepared to enter sympathetically into community life, they could not make a success of their stores. “The Golden Rule finds no limit of application in business.” My family have been loyal customers. And even some of loyal customer have asked why she is no longer at the store. That walking advertisement is no longer a successful one. Not anymore! I stated to her not to jump through the hoops and return everything that has a tag to pay her credit card off and leave. They don't want to give her a explication then other then not pushing credit applications. GREED!!!! Of course, I'm also little bitter because of the way they have treated their employees since Jan. 2012. SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!

HE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT I WORK IN AND IS DUMB ENOUGH TO BELIVE ANY THING HIS DEPARTMENT HEADS TELL HIM WITHOUT INVESTTIGATING A THING. HE HAS FALSE LP REPORTS SENT TO THE CORP.OFFICE SO HE CAN FIRE ME. THE DES CAUGHT HIM IN SEVERAL LIES DURING A HEARING SO I WAS ABLE TO GET MY UNEMPLOYMENT. WE COULDN'T GET THE CORP.OFFICE TO TALK TO US ABOUT HIM SO WE HAVE A ATTORNEY TO DO IT FOR US. HOPE HE IS TERMINATED AND NOT JUST DEMOTED AND MOVED LIKE THE LAST TIME THEY CAUGHT HIM DOING BAD THINGS.

  20. Dear J.C.Penney CEO,

CNN ran a story this week noting that your catalog now has a slant, featuring lesbian families. Now really, a catalog? All we want as customers is to buy quality clothes!

We do not open your catalog or go to your store to acquire a taste for the "politically correct" agenda that you wish to push.

I have been a faithful customer for my whole life, but I will not be returning to your store until you drop your "agenda" and return to selling clothes.

    Sincerely, Linda Beach

p.s. I visited your store last week to see its new look (before the CNN story broke). I found disgruntled employees who totally disagree with your new CEO.

  21. Dear Ron Johnson,

We just became aware of your decision to feature a lesbian family in your catalog. While we suspect this is more of a financial decision to draw in new customers to build up your declining sales numbers it still sends a message we do not support. You made your decision and now we are making ours. You just lost a 25 year customer.

  22. Tried to shop at JCPenney's for mother's day. There are no associates to help you. In the shoe department there was no help and also did not have my mothers shoe size. I finally gave up and went to Kohls where there are employees. I worked for JCPenney's for nine years. The company put me through college and I left due to finding a better job. I never thought I would stop being a customer. I feel like I owe the company for something because without them I wouldn't be where I am now. I now go where there is better customer service and where there are sales. Mr. Johnson needs to go somewhere else. JCPenney's used to be a great place to work. We need to start petition to end the madness and make the consumer's voices be heard. There are way too many complaints.

  23. I worked for JCP for over 10 years (parttime) and loved the store, people, and especially customers. I like thousands of others was told I was no longer needed due to catalog area being eliminated and that no other position was being offered to me. Three great managers were eliminated along with numerous other associates. Why, because we made more than minimum wage or age? I feel the store manager at the Lycoming Mall store in Pennsdale, PA kept the employees he favored and discarded those he simply did not like. It was not because they did not fit into the so called "new vision" of JCP. One woman who has only worked as a dept. manager for a year or so was not eliminated because of personal relationship with the manager, the other was a really good "smoozer" and no matter how she was treated would continue to look up to him. I had no problem in telling him about his inappropiate actions towards me and sexual inuendos made to many of the young girls. Is this a "Fair & Square" Manager. Maybe Mr. Johnson should start traveling to all the store, stop and talk to the associates, etc. I was a hard worker, only called off when I was really sick (with dr. excuse) and even then this manager tried to change my evaluation to poor attendance. They would call me to work extra if someone called off and I would "jump" to help out. So much for being a hard working, loyal employee. If JCP goes down it is their own fault.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, they did it again. Gave good raises to those they got ride of as of May 18, 2012 (go figure) and minimal (10-15cents) to those they kept. So, people who are still working at JCP are still at a lower rate of pay after being promised, what one thought, good raises. Who benefits? Ron Johnson. Someone has to pay his multi-million dollar salary.
