    1. I have been a loyal JC Penny customer for over 30 years - Go JC Pennys, Ellen Degeneres & Ron Johnson! I have no respect for anyone who judges others, we all make mistakes, we are human, hope you realize your mistake for judging what you have no right to! I will be Loyal to JCP for the rest of my life.

    2. I have been a loyal JCP shopper for over 30 years. Not any more. How hard is it to find a spokesperson who represents mainstream values, not the liberal left?

    3. My first credit card was w/ JCP. Since they have a new agenda of their own - I refuse to shop there until their bankruptcy sale! Who do they think built JCP into what it ONCE was?? I "vote" with my feet & I choose to say no more JCP!

    4. I was raised on J C Penney's merchandise for over 50 years. Then my kids were born and my family and I shopped there for years. Once they started making all the changes that have not worked out, and hired the spokesperson Ellen Degeneres for the second year, it is over for me. She does not represent family values and she is way too liberal to advertise for where I shop and spend my money. Mr J C Penney is probably turning over in his grave!

  2. I came to this website because I would like to talk to someone on the phone about their poor choice of hiring Ellen Degeneres as spokesperson. I am a Christian woman who loves to shop at JC Penneys. I felt very comfortable with this very nice store for years. Now I am losing respect for this store!

    1. Well I am an Atheist woman who believes in the dignity and worthiness of all people. I fully support Ellen's new role! I pledge to spend just as much as "PO" stops spending at JC Penny to make up the difference.

Shame that Christians are the bigoted ones these days. Jesus preached love didn't he?

    2. I spent most of our childrens clothing allownce at J. C Penney. I am not bigoted and yes Jesus loves us sinners at the same time He hates our sins (that is why He died on the cross) There are other stores that reflect my values where I will be shopping. We have been Pennys customers for years and are sorry that you have made this choice. Please reconsider your choice

    3. Ellen DeGeneres seems to me like a kind, funny and talented person; surely her good heart is more important than her sexual orientation. (And what does religion have to do with it? Consider this: Jesus embraced the poor and the outcast--the "different"--much more warmly than he did the rich and the powerful.)

I'll be shopping at JCP more these days, for both my straight and my gay relatives and friends.

    5. I think there are some Christians who are giving Christianity a bad name. (PO who posted previously is one such person.) I now cringe when I hear someone describe themselves as Christian much as many Christians cringe when they hear Islamic or Muslim. In reality, there are Islamics and Islamic extremists; Muslims and Muslim extremists; Christians and Christian extremists. The Christians who are being so judgemental and uncharitable to their fellow human beings who happen to love differently than they love, are Christian extremists and are being allowed to coopt the Christian religion. I wish they would start identifying themselves as Christian extremists.

    6. I am Christian and a JC Penny card holder but I am done shopping at JC Penny as long as she is spokesperson. JC Penny is pandering to the "gay community", after all they have the money to spend right! Johnson and JC Penny is sending the wrong message to America and the world. Now, we have to embrace your sin or we are bigots. I can find somewhere else to shop believe me. I want a company that stands up for real principles and core values not pandering to perverts.

    7. Good for you for not following the masses who want out children to believe that any and every lifestyle is ok as long as it is popular. I've closed my account after decades with JCP. I pray that people will verbalize their position on this sad choice of a spokesperson.

    8. I will never shop at JCP again, until they find a spokesperson who is more mainstream. I walked into our local store with a huge bag of stuff I bought elswhere and talked to the manager about the business they were loosing. Too bad, I used to love JCP. Not anymore.

YOU HAVE SOME HARD CORE ISSUES IF YOU CANT SHOP AT A STORE JUST BECAUSE OF WHO THEIR SPOKES PERSON IS. ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE SOCIETY FEEL THIS WAY AND WHY WE HAVE A HIGH SUICIDE RATE. THANK YOU JCPENNEY FOR BE DIVERSE.

    10. You believe in Jesus Christ and go to church...I guess that's all it takes huh? We clearly don't have to obey His word against homosexuality...and to blame people who actually stand for the word of God as being the reason people commit suicide is just wreckless...you indeed are free to choose whatever you want to but please don't put a Holy God in your unholy-selfish-and flesh filled mess

      Delete
    11. Read Romans 1 and Jude...stop trying to pass off obedience to God and doing as His word states with improperly judging...Stop using 'judge not' out of context....Read the rest of the verses that go along with that...it is talking about hypocritical judgement. He tells us to judge righteously and to judge ALL things by His Word. Stop proclaiming to be a Christian and then denying His word. God is a God of love and mercy but also a God of Judgement...and we are told to tell people what the Judge says about sin and their condition.

      Delete
    12. As a Christian woman myself...I value, respect and admire those who do not hurt others, praise and do good deeds, spread the word of love and generosity just like Ellen. Who are we to judge? Can you say that God is hating anyone who is different? The Bible, by the way, was written by men, and is interpreted by people, fallible human beings to mean different things...

Love and acceptance of all human beings is the wave of the future and JC Penney will be riding that wave!

We are proud of JC Penney for selecting Ellen DeGeneres as spokesperson and not folding to the Million Mom's movement. Ellen is kind, does good works is generous and cares about her fellow human beings. She is an excellent role model.

Let's all show those hate-mongering million MORONS- oops, I meant moms- that their message of intolerance and discrimination is NOT Christian nor is it promoting family values and that it won't be tolerated!! 11. There is the natural and normal there are perversions of those; Ellen is addicted to perversion ergo a pervert. The one and only God destroyed Sodom, Gomorrah and the ten surrounding cites over such perversions and He is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. It is one thing to fall short , (sin), it is another thing to chase after the condition of falling short, (sinning)she is among the latter. May JCP reap what they sow, (they just will not be doing any "reaping" from me).

  12. Not to get off the subject Ellen I do support her and the cause. However been an employee for many years and going thru the thick and thin of JCP changes, some store managers don't care of employee who are loyalty and have good work ethic, when times are slow our hours do get cut, but why cut hours for someone who's been with the company so long and keep lazy young people who dont even care. when the spring/summer hits they don't show up. I'm trying to keep my job. Force all people out over 9yrs. GAstore.

  18. My wife worked for JCP 1751 for 15 years was tardy because she was scheduled to work on her off day. Also was a faithful, loyal, ethical, moral, and trusted employee. She was not schedules for two weeks because she did not push credit applications. Two weeks of punishment has now turned into 4 weeks. No work ethics from the manager to even tell her that she is no longer needed. Just leave her on a schedule hoping that she will just disappear. I also agree that Mr Penney would be disgusted with what has become of his stores. What ever happened to the golden rule. Mr. Penney based his company upon the golden rule "Treat others as you would have them treat you." He believed that the Golden Rule applied to all aspects of life, and he intended to build a business using the Golden Rule as his philosophical cornerstone. J.C. Penney was a man of strong personal integrity. He did what was right in business and treated people like he wanted to be treated. His business was a success because he worked hard, sold quality goods at fair prices, valued his customers, and treated them with respect and kindness. “In retailing, the formula happens to be a basic liking for human beings, plus integrity, plus industry, plus the ability to see the other fellow’s point of view.” His customers and employees were loyal to him because he was loyal to them. “Courteous treatment will make a customer a walking advertisement.” He had a very strong work ethic. Many businesses today are owned by people who have weak character, are greedy for profit, and are driven by the almighty dollar and personal gain. He had the right idea and he was a successful businessman and person. Unless they knew their communities and unless they were prepared to enter sympathetically into community life, they could not make a success of their stores. “The Golden Rule finds no limit of application in business.” My family have been loyal customers. And even some of loyal customer have asked why she is no longer at the store. That walking advertisement is no longer a successful one. Not anymore! I stated to her not to jump through the hoops and return everything that has a tag to pay her credit card off and leave. They don't want to give her a explication then other then not pushing credit applications. GREED!!!! Of course, I'm also little bitter because of the way they have treated their employees since Jan. 2012. SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!

  20. Dear J.C.Penney CEO,

CNN ran a story this week noting that your catalog now has a slant, featuring lesbian families. Now really, a catalog? All we want as customers is to buy quality clothes!

We do not open your catalog or go to your store to acquire a taste for the "politically correct" agenda that you wish to push.

I have been a faithful customer for my whole life, but I will not be returning to your store until you drop your "agenda" and return to selling clothes.

    Sincerely, Linda Beach

p.s. I visited your store last week to see its new look (before the CNN story broke). I found disgruntled employees who totally disagree with your new CEO.

  21. Dear Ron Johnson,

We just became aware of your decision to feature a lesbian family in your catalog. While we suspect this is more of a financial decision to draw in new customers to build up your declining sales numbers it still sends a message we do not support. You made your decision and now we are making ours. You just lost a 25 year customer.

  22. Tried to shop at JCPenney's for mother's day. There are no associates to help you. In the shoe department there was no help and also did not have my mothers shoe size. I finally gave up and went to Kohls where there are employees. I worked for JCPenney's for nine years. The company put me through college and I left due to finding a better job. I never thought I would stop being a customer. I feel like I owe the company for something because without them I wouldn't be where I am now. I now go where there is better customer service and where there are sales. Mr. Johnson needs to go somewhere else. JCPenney's used to be a great place to work. We need to start petition to end the madness and make the consumer's voices be heard. There are way too many complaints.

  23. I worked for JCP for over 10 years (parttime) and loved the store, people, and especially customers. I like thousands of others was told I was no longer needed due to catalog area being eliminated and that no other position was being offered to me. Three great managers were eliminated along with numerous other associates. Why, because we made more than minimum wage or age? I feel the store manager at the Lycoming Mall store in Pennsdale, PA kept the employees he favored and discarded those he simply did not like. It was not because they did not fit into the so called "new vision" of JCP. One woman who has only worked as a dept. manager for a year or so was not eliminated because of personal relationship with the manager, the other was a really good "smoozer" and no matter how she was treated would continue to look up to him. I had no problem in telling him about his inappropiate actions towards me and sexual inuendos made to many of the young girls. Is this a "Fair & Square" Manager. Maybe Mr. Johnson should start traveling to all the store, stop and talk to the associates, etc. I was a hard worker, only called off when I was really sick (with dr. excuse) and even then this manager tried to change my evaluation to poor attendance. They would call me to work extra if someone called off and I would "jump" to help out. So much for being a hard working, loyal employee. If JCP goes down it is their own fault.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, they did it again. Gave good raises to those they got ride of as of May 18, 2012 (go figure) and minimal (10-15cents) to those they kept. So, people who are still working at JCP are still at a lower rate of pay after being promised, what one thought, good raises. Who benefits? Ron Johnson. Someone has to pay his multi-million dollar salary.

  25. I will no longer shop at your store for myself, my four children and grandchildren until you stop promoting the homosexual lifestyle.

  26. I opened the June catalog last night to find, for the second month in a row, a featured gay couple. Because JCP chooses to uphold what society deems correct instead of what God does, I am done with being a customer. I decided to request that no more mailers be sent to my home nor to shop there ever again, and to my delight, have found many others who feel the same way as I do. To all those who deem those opposed to homosexuality as haters, let me correct you. While I do my best to love everyone, I love God more and will always do what I can to follow Him. I won't be involved in any bashing of any sort, but I will certainly not support those who don't support the guidelines God has given us. JCP has chosen to support those who make immoral lifestyle choices, so now I choose not to be a customer anymore.

They all have been overthrown or defeated. The same holds true for businesses, States, homes and people. God cannot bless those who go against His word- And His word says it's wrong and those who approve of it (homosexuallity) are as lost as those who are involved in it. Read Romans Chpt 1 Homosexuallity is a sin, just like stealing, adultery, etc. Would you use a thief, a liar, or murderer for your spokesperson?

  28. I accidentally fell on this site, while searching for the address to send my cut-up JCPenney credit card. I'm not a religious person, but I do know the difference between right and wrong. In a way, it's kind of unfortunate that big corporations and movie stars get to slowly erode long held values in America. But I guess that's their choice. Fortunately, though, I too have a choice; not to spend my money in their store, on their product or movie. So I will continue to boycott Penneys, Pepsi and Disneyworld and hope other like-minded people will also...until they receive the hint. So sad the REAL issue here has nothing to do with values at all...it's the almighty dollar. It's no wonder why we've lost our respect in the world.

I teach school and have a student who is being raised by lesbians. This child is so emotionally unstable and has been sent to mental institutions a couple of times. He is very irritable and mad all the time. When I hear of gays or lesbians adopting children, I want to cry for the child. Children need a dad, (male), and a mom, (female), who bring a balance into their lives. That's the way God intended it.

  32. I am very disappointed to hear of the decision to use a gay couple in an advertisement for your company and have Ellen Degeneres for a spokesperson. What would Mr. Penney think about this decision? I had been a loyal customer for several years, but will no longer shop in your store. As Christians we must stand our ground. This country is running away from it's founding fathers and their faith an beliefs. And, in a response to an earlier post...Yes Jesus did preach love...He loved and loves all of us, we are all sinners, but He hates the sin and the the Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin!

    1. Our countries founding fathers lived in a society where homosexuality was kept quiet. Yes there where gays and lesbians even back then but what I find more disturbing than being gay was that there were black men and women being used for the sexual gratification of white men and women and they were helpless to stop it, and if they weren't being used for sex they were being beaten. You tell me what is worse, loving someone who just happens to be the same sex or raping and beating someone with no consequences.Oh and by the way, there was homosexuality even when Jesus walked the earth.

God created us as male and female. When you stop listening to your creator, it causes problems. Christians try to live by God's standards. Too bad the staff at JCPenneys doesn't know how to do that.

  38. God said that homosexuality is an abomination and they will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. He also says Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. God made us and knows the boundaries we need. Just because someone does not believe in or condone homosexuality does not mean they hate gay people. God does say to love everyone, but he also says to follow his laws. You can pick and choose which parts you like and which ones you don't. BUT bottom line, God promises success when you follow him, and as we can see, success and JC Penney does not go hand in hand.

Does anyone remember him and what happened to all of those people that followed what they were told was Gods law? The only one that succeeded here was the slim bag that preached Gods word to unsuspecting innocent people and convinced them they needed to follow Gods law through his preaching and the only place it got them was DEAD! I am sorry, I can not believe that God or his son Jesus Christ wanted anyone to hate any person that did not go by his word alone. God created free thinking human beings and I believe was in awe of that creation good and what you consider bad. God did not know how to hate he said to love all mankind. Mankind he created. Gays and Lesbians breath the same air we do and their heart beats the same as ours do. Do I think God is disappointed in his creation of mankind. YES I think he is disappointed in the judgmental quote "christians" that hide behind the church and read into what they want to hear from his preaching.

I have now had to schedule - reschedule my appointment in the Salon around August free haircut month for school kids. ( really just another ploy- they think, to make money)! I will also take my $1000's in business some where else too! I only hope the few good salon gals left that truly make money for JCP get out soon too. JCP has really gone down hill and the unprofessional acts of management will eventually be the Bain of JCP'd existence! I am not a card holder or shopper anymore because of this not the fact that Ellen is the spokes woman. I watch her show on occasion and find it very entertaining. And I like the fact that she has her mother in the audience daily and respects her mother above all else.I do believe God said honor thy mother and father and she does this flawlessly. Get a grip!

"They" most certainly do, and you as a shopper have probably walked right by one and not known it. That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read.Everyone that shops at JC Pennys made it the place to go gay and straight. This is the 21st century people not the 19th.

      Delete
  46. I believe in and love God, I believe in heaven and hell, what I don't believe is that God intended for us to judge people because we don't agree with any one persons life choices be he gay or straight. Ellen Degeneres may be gay but she most certainly does allot of good for allot of people and never once has she ever ask what their sexual orientation was. Come on people there is to much hate in this world already. Why do we have to add to it because a company chooses a Lesbian woman to be their spokes woman? To those of you who are so sure that this is a sin in Gods eyes that have children I ask you this one question. What will you do if one day your son or daughter comes home and informs you they are gay? Are you going to disown them and cut them from your life because they made a choice that you think deems them a sinner? I most certainly will not. My children are the ultimate gift from God. I am so grateful to God that he chose my husband and myself to be the recipient of not only 1 but 3 precious children and I thank him for those gifts every day. I most certainly will not dishonor these gifts from him because they choose an alternate way of life aka homosexuality. I am 40 years old and have seen allot of wrong (sin)in this world, allot of it right there in the one place it should not be but the one place that people think they can hide their sin and that is right there in church. Just because a person goes to church doesn't guarantee them to be sin free. I most certainly am not sin free because quite frankly I would be trying to push myself off as perfect and to my knowledge there are only 2 that truly are perfect and that is God and his only son Jesus Christ who I might add died on the cross for mankind. Yes mankind as a whole not just the quote "non sinners" . Will Ellen go to heaven when she dies, most certainly, because God will not be looking at who she slept with and married, he will be looking at what she accomplished in her life and the good she did for his children, All of his children not just the select few that are deemed worthy. So come on people give it a rest. There are more tragic affairs going on in this world than whom Pennys chooses to hire as their spokes person. One example that comes to mind is a little girl who was murdered by her own mother because she (the mother) wanted to go out and party so she made up a story about a nanny (that didn't exist) kidnapping her child. I'm sure everyone knows the ending of this story. Yes the mother got off and is a free woman. Where is the baby, she's dead. Who do you think will go to heaven here? I can tell she is already there and in the safe arms of God not the murdering arms of her mother. And who do you think will go to hell when she dies? So get off your moral high horses and worry about something that needs to be worried about. Worry about the children (these being the children of God)that will be murdered in the future and all the other mayhem that happens in this world every day that we don't hear about, worry about these poor people in New York and New Jersey that just lost their homes to what their insurance companys are going to deem (an act of God). Don't shop pennys, you wont be missed.

I could place a catalog order and it would be at my store the following Wednesday. I placed an order on 11/29 and it is still showing pending shipment, although all the items were in stock. I have sent emails, called and been hung up on, asked for help on their Facebook page. A robot named Brian sent a canned response and said Customer Service would get back to me and I'm still waiting. 50. My wife and I ordered and PAID for furniture 4 months ago and we still have not received our order. NOONE in the JC Penney organization can help us in any way. We have been lied to numerous times. No, I am not mistaken. LIED to. We have begged for help, but have not been given any resolution. The worst thing is I can't even find an e-mail address to ask a person from the corporate office to contact us to rectify the situation. We have been more than patient, and if a J.C. Penney corporate executive would have the trouble we have had, many people would lose their jobs, and Exel trucking company would lose their contract with Penney's. But, we are just the average hard working family that likely means nothing to those executives. We have been dealing with this for 4 months and, at this point, my wife and I are wiping our hands of it. At the age of 45, I have likely spent at least $10,000 at penneys in my lifetime. Though it may not be very much to those execs, that is a great deal of money for one family. $10,000 dollars X many, many families has kept them in business. I would love to receive some sort of correspondence from them, but I am very doubtful it will happen. If a corporate person would read the computer correspondences that have taken place between my wife and I and their lackluster employees, they would, at least, call with a real apology. I am offering my e-mail to them, but really have doubts that they will be honorable and do the right thing. Chris C. e-mail - basstrash@hotmail.com.

  54. I've learned from a private foundation that your corporation has been blocking electronic correspondence on the following subject. Although I've not yet tried every method, 2 email attempts have been unsuccessful. Perhaps snail mail would be read. Nevertheless, here's a concern shared by many:

Our Constitution recognizes a right of free speech (with a few obvious and common sense restrictions historically recognized by our courts). NBC and Saturday Night Live have a right to mock Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Atheism and/or any other religious or ideological viewpoint. Absent fraud, private companies also have rights to use money derived from customers to sponsor any kind of mockery that suits their fancy.

On the other hand, those being mocked or having what or who is dear to them mocked also have a right to say why they don't like the mockery, although they have no right to resort to physical violence. I, along with many others, don't appreciate the kind of mockery which NBC OKed for Saturday Night Live and which was sponsored by J.C. Penney Corp.

Those of us (1) who have weighed the evidence, found it persuasive and concluded that Jesus is the Christ (as He claimed to be and is claimed to be in the New Testament), (2) who trust in Him as Savior from sin and (3) who commit to following Him are commanded by Him pray for those who mock Him and us. Many who deplore the mockery your company sponsored nevertheless include you in their prayers.

Some of us also choose to say that it bothers us when Jesus is mocked. And some of us also don't think that it makes much sense to economically support those who produce or sponsor the mockery by watching their TV shows or buying their products. These kinds of peaceful reactions, especially when compared to the retaliatory violence of some adherents to certain other religions or ideologies, seem a long way from being unreasonable or overreacting.

My family and I have watched NBC in the past, and our family has shopped at sponsoring stores. However, when the kind of senseless and public mockery such as aired on Saturday Night Live occurs, it causes recipients of the mockery to ask why they would want to be supportive of those who do the mocking or support it. Hopefully NBC and its sponsors will act more carefully in the future. If not, we'll be joining others who have reluctantly decided to take our business (and viewing) elsewhere.

It is truly sad that we have to go out of town to shop for these things. We live 100 miles from the next closest JC Penney store. Children clothing has gotten so bad also. I have always liked shopping at the West Acres JC Penney store, and think we could really use one like that in Jamestown, ND. You should really think of expanding that store. I would think it would be great to have a large store like that in Jamestown. If my mother-in-law were still alive (she used to work for JC Penney) she would be very upset on how things are being done with our JC Penney store in Jamestown, ND. We really do not want to lose this store in Jamestown, ND, but it really looks like that is what you are trying to do, and get it so we have less and less things to shop for there, and so we go out of town to get it. To any person who cares about J C Penney's,

First of all. KEEP THE POLITICS OUT OF THIS ISSUE!!!!! Ellen and Jesus have nothing to do with the LOW GRADE MERCHANDISE SOLD AT PENNEY’s today.

I see you are lying off hundreds of employees and your stock has fallen. Want to know why?? Most of the merchandise you are selling today is JUNK. I am telling you-- every YEAR we would spend about $1000.00 in your store at Christmas time, we did this for years and YEARS. This last Christmas guess how much we spent at Penney's? ZERO!
During the year Penney’s was the only place we shopped for clothing, bedding, linens, shoes and gifts.

Last year I made a couple of on line orders of DISCONTINUED merchandise, like $100.00 dollars for support pantyhose before they were all gone. (I bought those pantyhose for about 45 years). I complained about the men’s undershirts a couple of years ago, they are junk now. I used to send others to Penney’s for men’s underwear because yours was the very BEST. I even offered to pay you more for the same men’s underwear that you used to sell. Now the underwear is very thin, turns gray and will not keep its shape. I recently washed my husband’s short sleeve shirts and one was a very old ST JOHNS BAY shirt that looked just like new out of the dryer. What a shame you replaced them with old crappie material that puckers and must be IRONED. SHAME. The situation Penney’s is in today belongs to management and the Board of Directors for letting this company die.

This really makes me sick, I almost cried the first time I got home with the "New" men’s underwear and then you discontinued your Support Pantyhose. O well, this is your loss as well as your customers and now you are feeling the pain just like we are.

To put the icing on the cake, I called a store in Illinois and could not get a answer from ANYONE!!! Just how many people did you lay off???

JC Penney was one of the first stores I would frequent when I wanted to purchase chothes, pocketbooks, nightgowns, menswear, men's underwear, home goods, etc. The old standard brands once carried by Penney's offered good quality merchandise at a fair price. St. John's Bay was a favorite of mine...especially the 3/4 sleeve tee shirts....that were offered in a multitude of colors that you couldn't find in ANY other store. I still can't find them. I'm thrilled to hear St. John's Bay is coming back. Just don't forget the tried and true. Only GOOD QUALITY merchandise in styles worn by ordinary men and women will bring people back.

It is amazing how poorly the customer support group is...I was upset and actually said to the manager I spoke with "what ever happened to the customer is always right" and her reply was "because you are wrong" and told me to stop speaking to her with my tone. This was after 5 calls to support and getting no where.

It used to be downstairs, then you could return or order at any register, now they make you walk through just about every department on both floors to make returns. This is just a ploy to get people to spend more money, like the same reason milk is always in the back of a store.
