  1. We came to Cherokee, NC and thought we had a reservation at another hotel up here. We drove 4 hours and was told there was no reservation. We came to the EconoLodge and the lady that helped us, Patti, was so nice and just a nice person. I just want to bring attention to such a great employee. The rooms here are clean and I think we came out better not staying at the other hotel. Thanks again. We will be repeat customers.

    1. i dont know exactly how to handle this situation. my fiancee and i checked into econolodge in whippany nj. we rented weekly for 350. Today sunday 7/14/2013i had to drive to bayonne nj. my fiancee went out for a cigarette when a staff member tried to solicite her for sex.i came back to find her physically shaken. We just relocated here and i got a full time job and we decided to stay here till we have saved enough money to rent a house. the room is affordable and im afraid that if i say something we mite not have a place to stay. but i need to handle this situation for my fiancee.

    2. You need to contact the manager right away. If that doesn't work, tell them you will contact the police and their corporate headquarters. Be nice, but be very firm. They cannot kick you out for something their employee did to you. THEY NEED TO KNOW THIS RIGHT AWAY.

My family had the worst experience with the EconoLodge in Fort Payne Alabama on Glen Blvd SW. Their were Five of us ages range from 58 to 67. The check in couldn’t have been more pleasant. The next day when the coffee maker after a half hour still wasn’t finished dripping with the water for coffee we decided to put our cups in the microwave. We needed to plug it in first and low and behold this was broke. At this time we saw the maid to let her know. In turn she had someone come and take a look at it, this led to the head maid coming in she told the gentleman to remove it. We thought they were bringing us a different one. No instead we were order up to the front desk where this man started screaming at us. Yelling what did we do to his Microwave. As we tried to explain we did nothing he would only get angrier. He told us that when the rooms are cleaned everything is checked by the maids to make sure things are in working order. After a few heated exchanges we were thrown out of this hotel. Before leaving I talked with the maid and asked, Do you check for these things and was told NO they do not all they do is clean and change sheets. So my advice is if you are planning a trip in this area of Fort Payne stay at the Days Inn or the Hampton you will surely have a more relaxed time.

  4. I was at the same EconoLodge in Merrilville at 62nd Opportunity Lane on June 9th. When I checked in after midnight I was greeted by the night manager who was very friendly. In the morning I requested an iron and ironing board to press a pair of pants that I needed to wear to a funeral that morning. As I was ironing my pants the iron began to leak and shutdown. I called the Front Desk and the Daylight manager was now on duty. I requested a replacement iron and she said she had one but I would have to come down and get it. When I arrived she said she did not have an iron and I would have to wait until 9:00 AM. I explained that I could not wait until 9:00 AM. At that point her attitude changed and she responded we just done have any other irons and you will just have to wait. I responded that her response was unacceptable and that my pants were not only wrinkled but now are wet from the iron leaking. She responded, "how much did you pay for the room?" I replied it does not matter what I paid, customer service should be your first priority and I do not appreciate being spoken to in that manner. As I walked away I heard her say to a housekeeper, "he thinks he should not be spoken to that way", then she laughed. When I acknowledged that I had heard her comment she became very quiet. I asked for the General Manager’s information and checked out. No customer should be treated or spoken to in the above described fashion.

Staff were unwilling to refund money for stay so we could find another place to stay. It is not our fault they are negligent.

  7. I stayed at the econo lodge in mason Ohio. I checked in by myself and the guy seemed really weird to me. Didn't pay much attention to him just was glad to finally find a hotel. I got to my room and started to watch tv and the hotel phone started to ring and I picked up and it was the guy at the front desk. He asked how I was doing and if I needed anything at all to just call him. I thought that was weird. I have stayed at many many hotels and never received phone calls like that except was up calls. Then I started watching tv again and waiting on my boyfriend to get their. Then the phone rings again. I was confused no one knew I was at that hotel so why would the phone be ringing again. Well he said hi someone wants to know your room number should I give it to them. I said to him no one knows I'm in cincinatti let alone this hotel. So then I hung up the phone. Called my boyfriend and asked if it was him and he said no. Well twenty minutes later my cell phone got a text. It was a 229 area code I have a 614 area code so didn't know who it was. The text read what's your rates ? I was like WTF do you mean what are your rates. He said I got your number off this escort service. I looked it up and it's a escort service in cincinatti / northern kentucky. I'm from Columbus, on vacation with my boyfriend for the weekend in cincy. Then I called the number and the guy answered but was whispering and said his name was John. But kind of funny how he sounded just like the Arab guy at the front desk. The only person in cincy that I gave my phone number to when I checked into this hotel. I was scared and very upset. Don't stay here please not worth it. There is a extended stay a couple exits up ten dollars cheaper and a he'll of a lot nicer.

  8. If you want to stay at the EconoLodge in Flagstaff, AZ don't ever stay at 914 S Milton Rd. David at the front is not only completly rude but lacks any ability to be helpful.
The room had long black hairs on the shower curtain, the tub had peeling paint around the drain, the carpet was not vacuumed, and the room smelled like disinfectant. It was not easy to sleep in a room so unkept. If you want to watch TV it is nice to be able to operate it with the remote and not manually.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER STAY AT THE ECONO LODGE IN SAN MARCOS, TX ( EXIT 204). WE HAD A RESERVATION FOR THREE NIGHTS AND GUESS WHAT? THE BED WAS INFESTED WITH BUGS. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF BUGS THEY WERE SO WE WENT TO THE CVS PHARMACY AND SHOWED THE BUGS ( WE COLLECTED SOME) TO THE PHARMAIST AND TO GET MEDICATION. HE THOUGHT THEY MIGHT BE BED BUGS. THE BUGS WERE SMALL AND BIG. AND ANOTHER THING, THE BED SHEETS HAD LOTS OF OLD BLOOD STAINS.THE BUGS LOOKED LIKE TEXAS SIZE PIOJOS(HEAD LICES)AND THEY (MANAGEMENT)KNEW BECAUSE THE THE SHEETS WERE DRIED AND SMEARED BLOOD STAINS...WE CAME IN LATE AND TIRED AND WE DID NOT CHECK THE BED BEFORE;I NOTICED THE BUGS WHEN MY WIFE GOT OUT OF BED AND THE BUG WERE CRAWLING ON HER PILLOW. WE HAVE NOTIFIED DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. WE WILL NEVER STAY AT AN ECONO LODGE EVER AGAIN. MANAGEMENT WANTED TO CHARGE US A CANCELLATION FEE BUT WE REFUSED TO PAY. HE BACKED OUT WHEN WE TOLD HIM THAT WE WERE GOING TO NOTIFY THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT

  11. AVOID SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI ECONO LODGE!!!!! i just left an econo lodge after 3 days of a 1 month stay. we payed a monthly rate of 780 and the man who checked us in was really helpful.the arab runnin the joint is another story. bugs, mice, smells funny, no working remotes, showers are disgusting, tea and coffer were probably years old, and prostitution out of the smoking rooms. on my way with the cops i called on the owner, a man was running around the pool area with his penis out chasing a hooker. this is south county....absolutely unacceptable. the internet did not work at all while we were there and i missed 3 days of work. i requested a refund from day 1 and was denied. then the owner comes peeping into my window while im changing. when i finally called the police to press charges, he proceeded to write me a check for 675. the officer told him to at least give me 100 cash and 575 check. im anxious to see if it cashes in the morning. the back end of the building is infested with meth labs in the rooms and all of our drains were stopped up. we sat with poop in our toilet for 3 days! health department will be recieving a call and now i have a sick kid because of it. not to mention he says we only get 1 towel a week! this whole experience was insane!i could go on all night but insyead....heed this warning...DONT STAY HERE!!!!!! its on s. lindbergh in stl mo

  14. We stayed at the Econolodge in Stevens Point Wisconsin (5110 Main St) and it was HORRIBLE! The staff is rude, the housekeeping is even worse. I reserved a suite, paid for a suite and because of a faulty a/c unit wound up in a regular room, but got only a $20 discount! They told me it was because the price was higher that weekend due to an event. I'm sorry, but if I wanted a regular room I would have reserved that. (I made the reservations 10 months earlier!). I will NEVER stay in ANY econolodge again if this is any indication of how they operate.

  19. I went to Morehead City, NC location and it was the worst place I've ever been. The room had a terrible odor, none of the outlets worked so I couldn't charge my cell phone or laptop, and of course the coffeemaker didn't work. The sheets were damp, so I had to sleep on the top of the covers that were dry. I tried to sleep, but the odor kept me awake the entire night.

  20. Dont ever stay at the Econo Lodge College Park Md. Rented 2 conecting rooms for two nights. The one was to be for our children and one for ourselves. Upon entering the rooms, the smell was awful. Discovered the a/c in the two bed room for the kids didn't work and they had no keys for the passage door in between the rooms. They sent a maintenance man who couldnt get the door open nor fix the a/c. I popped the lock myself and tried to let the air from our room enter theres. The next morning another maintenance man came by and said he had fixed it. Left and went sight seeing for the entire day just to come back and have the room at 92 degrees. Called the office and got put off..they said they cant figure out the problem. I am beyond pissed and would never refer anybody to this establishment

  21. Do not stay at the Econo Lodge on Port Ave. Corpus Christi, Texas if you are handicapped. The bathroom was large but had a standard shower and tub with the on/off handlles for the water so high it could not be reached if you were sitting in the tub. for someone in a wheelchair that can not walk it would be impossible to bathe with out the aid of another person to control the water and get them in and out of the tub. The room with two beds was so crowded a wheelchair could not manuver around.

    1. I don't know if anyone from EconoLodge actually reads these. All hotels from this chain are independantly owned. However, wouldn't you think that they would want to protect their image and make these owners tow the line of cleanliness. After visiting the US, I am not surprised by the lack of customer service. It doesn't exist anymore. I will never stay at an EconoLodge ever again and won't hesitate to say that to anyone who wants to listen.

Ref. wasn't running. Beds were FILTHY, but with no car and not knowing the town, we were so tired of the long day with the car breaking down, we had to stay. We didn't know we could have had free breakfast. I don't think I would have eaten anything there. What a dump. Out side look nice, but the rooms were trashy. Hated to touch anything. NEVER will stop at another EconoLodge. How do these things stay open???? the woman at the front desk could have cared less if we stay or not. She was busy talking to her boyfriend. He didn't want us to interrupt him!!! One girl wanted to know if we would give her $30. As I said.....NEVER AGAIN.

  26. Our party of eight adults stayed in four rooms at the EcnoLodge in Lemars, Iowa, while performing at a festival August 27, 2012 through September 1, 2012. Although the staff and help were all very attentive and helpful, the rooms needed to attention. All our rooms smelled dank, and moldy. One of the rooms had damp carpet. Out of our group of eight, five came down sick with respirtory conditions, one of our people had a asmthma attack. We believe the cause or our breathing and respirtory issues were caused by mold in the rooms. This is a health hazard and we hope it will be resolved. We plan to attend this festival in LeMars again next year, however, we hesitate making reservations at this EconoLodge due to our negetive health hazard experience.

  27. Mom and I had made reservations through Choice Hotels for the Econo Lodge in Montpelier,VT. The hotel was filthy. The first room had mould on the bed frames. The second room she showed me smelled of mould and decay. The third room was so filthy, we left and ended up in the Comfort Inn at a much great cost. This hotel, newly taken over by another owner, should not be on Choice Hotels roster of places to make reservations. The front desk people at Comfort Inn say this girl calls them to make other reservations for her guests all the time. Two from that night alone! Don't stay here.......you do not know what you will get or pick up healthwise.

  28. The same circumstances and mentality run through all these stories. We stayed at the EconoLodge, Lucky Lane, Flagstaff,Az.Box springs encased in plastic and zippered mattress cover.."Red Flag"for bed bugs.Mattress pads and mattress covers were covered in nasty stains and hair. Pillows weren't encased in slip covers.Found someone's left over kleenex under mattress cover.Linens were beige which says clorox wasn't used to sanitize.Wasn't vaccumed.Finger prints everywhere and other unknown substances on surfaces.Filthy!!Gave us another room which was just as nasty. We had driven all day,it was late,so I asked the clerk to just change the linens. She said she didn't change linens.I replied that if I change them she should drop the rate.Wouldn't do that either and copped a major attitude. She later knocked on our door, standing there holding the linens.I FORCED her to come and look at the filth. She laid the sheets (not mattress covers) on the bed and walked out.I demanded the owners name and number and was ignored until cornering her in the elevator.Came back to the room, tried to use the phone, which they had blocked.Used our cell to call owner. He was an assh*&^,arab,or whatever they are.Think he called me some nasty names in his language and did nothing.Told the desk clerk that I felt like going up and down the halls telling everyone to check their linens. She then offered to refund our money if we wanted to leave. My husband went down and got a receipt showing that she supposedly refunded our credit card.We were told that we had 10 minutes to leave the premises. After loading our car,I took keys in.Now the other clerk has a smart attitude. She said she was going to charge us for both rooms since I had exposed their filthy linens. The rooms supposedly weren't rentable now. They just had to get off their lazy butts and tuck the filth back under the mattress.Guess that was below their pay scale! Then she says we have 8 minutes or they will call the police. To which I replied,"Fine they can see why we're having to check out." I also told her that putting charges on our card was fraud. To this she made a shooing gesture.Talked with our credit card company the next day and we had charges for two rooms and something else. For what,I don't know. Our charge card company is going to persue fraud (which is a felony)on our behalf.Contacted the health inspectors who are going out within two days.Notified the "Choice Motel" group and filed a complaint. And I'm not finished yet.If people would stand up to these type owners, and people stop patronizing their establishments; I think they would change their ways. But then again, don't know if they're that smart.

  29. I stayed at Econo Lodge North in Lancaster, PA bedbugs bit me on my arms, hands and legs. The non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes and the smell was so strong it woke me up. The room was musty. No clock, no iron, smelly place. Disgusting, unclean. Complained to clerk about bed bugs, didnot care, manager not around. Wrote to the Choice Hotels that informed me each hotel is indenpendently run, so they could do nothing. The hotel finally wrote me. Basically blaming travelers for bringing in bed bugs and the government for banning DDT that could kill them. No apologies, no refund and he had the nerve to end the letter with a line that he hopes we can come back again in the future. No one cared! Don't stay at any of these econo lodges--they are bed bug infested from other reviews and no one does anything about it. It is a shame what this travel industry has come to.

I filed a complaint with the Washington,NC police,I was really impressed with them, also filed a complaint with BBB and the NC state Attorney General, I have rethought my stay in any hotel,. If I can't make a day trip or stay with a friend, I won't be going. What happen was dangerous and I don't think they could see what a dangerous position they put a customer in

I don't get it , do they think it's ok to treat americans like this ? and they wonder why amreicans HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! They need to go back to their own country and run their motels that way and the goverment needs to make it easier for us americans to buy run or own business here in OUR AMERICAN COUNTRY!!! I don't know about any of you , but I say we need to stick together as americans and boycot the econo lodges within the U.S.!we need to take our country back because Lord knows we could not go to there country and treat them like they do us and get away with it! 33. Stayed at the Fontana CA location was charged an extra $15+ (not sure what rates were suppose to be for a weekend) to check in early. Girl at the front desk seemed like she was making things up as she went along because she didn't know what she was doing. Place is AAA approved but no AAA discount????? WTF???? Makes no sense. Was asked if I wanted smoking or non-smoking room when only smoking was available. Why ask then?? Just tell me only smoking available, is that ok? Dont offer me a choice and then say there is no choice. Just dumb. Only up side was it was quiet. Would rather stay at the Motel 6 even though the rooms are smaller, the staff is more knowledgable and friendly and the rates are cheaper. Plus they dont charge extra to check in early.

  34. We recently stayed at the Econolodge (MO051) near the Kansas City Airport. To say it was disgusting is an understatement. The box spring was soaked in either vomit or blood (hard to tell which), and the carpet was heavily soiled, and very sour smelling. The tobacco smoke from the smoking room across the hall was so heavy that we had to stuff a towel under the door. In the morning, the front desk was unattended (sign up to that affect), hence if there was an emergency, etc, who would have been there to help?

  35. who do I contact to file a complaint against econolodge? we are staying in somers point nj econolodge after hurricane sandy, we have no choice, they have jacked up the prices more than 300 a week , before sandy weekely rate was 260 now they want 560, the continental breakfast is nowhere to be seen, we were told "that is not for people staying here through f.e.m.a., we are paying cash and still no breakfast! no phones either! we are told sandy destroyed the lines, well the main line works just fine! they said "they cant get the guy out here to fix it" we called comcast and they have NO WORK ORDER! it's funny how there is internet access and cable tv which go through comcast as well, but no phones! the coke machine charges 1.50 for a 20 oz. coke which is bad enough, but then it don't give change back, neither of them do! it costs 2.00 for a coke! and they know it because when I went up there and told them the coke machine robbed me they did not resist at all and gave me my money no questions asked! these people should be thrown in jail for taking advantage of people after a disaster like this! NEVER AGAIN, AND I AM GOING TO TELL EVERYONE I SEE!

  36. Do NOT ever stay at the Econo Lodge in Jacksonville, AR!! There were many broken things (not fixed) broken outlets, very dirty mirrors, very dirty walls, dust like you wouldn't believe behind and beside the television (which wouldn't work the 1st night there and they had to switch out for another), paint peeling, carpet coming up, so much to list!!! I will NEVER EVER stay at this hotel again!!! Then to top it off the kids went down for breakfast and there were cockroaches crawling around in the breakfast area!!! I am locating an address to email pics of the room and complain big time!!! Thank goodness we were only there long enough to sleep and shower since we drove 11 hours to get there for Thanksgiving!!!!

    1. We must have got the same room or they are all the same. This building should be red tagged. I don't see how it is legal to have missing glass from windows, missing ceiling parts, water trickling down the insulation hanging out of the ceiling,it is just like a nightmare. I have never in my entire life seen anything like this place.

  37. I stayed at a Econolodge in Purcell Ok. One of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed at. There was a hole in the wall from the door knob, the bathroom door was all scratched up, and had holes in it. You could tell the carpet was old. The air conditioner/heater was just recirculating the smoke from previous occupants. There was black mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The facuet in the shower was so loose from the wall it literally pulled 1 1/2 inches from the wall when trying to turn on water. The tub was disgusting, along with the rest of the room. For the price we paid it was a bad deal. There was a dirty cleaning rag hanging on the shower curtain rod. The walls were dirty. I found the alarm clock under the bed. I was amazed the rented a room so bad and dirty.

  38. I stayed in the Econo lodge in Osceola, AR.
I had driven 12 hours and exhausted. I checked in went straight to sleep, awoke to stinging on my skin, bed bug bites. I jumped up and ran to the bathroom where I noticed the whole ceiling and back wall was covered in black mold.
I went to the front desk, the clerk returned to the room with me to verify that the mold was on the wall and I showed her the bites on my skin. she called the owner who told her to refund half my money since I had been there for a few hours. she refunded half the charge of my room back to my card, but when I got home and checked my card, they had increased the charge of the room to recoup the refund. so not only did I not receive a refund, I had to drive in the night to find another romm in which I could actualy sleep and shower in whithout bed bugs and black mold. I have called their location several times to resolve the refund issue with no solution. The lady that said she is the manager said she is waiting to see what their credit card company actually charged me. I offered to send her the reciept I have and the charge on my card, and she refused it. AVOID the Econo Lodge at all cost. I will drive for hours before I stay at another one. I actually thought I would be safe staying at a well known chain. discusted at being ripped off and lied to.

  39. Very Disappoint PersonDecember 22, 2012 at 1:42 PM

We stayed at the Beaufort, S.C. site in December 2012. The room looked okay until we went in the bathroom. It looked like it had not been updated or repaired in 15 years. A repair on the wall was made by smearing caulking all over, there was black mold where the toilet base had lifted off the floor, back side of bathroom door was peeling and splintering, and toilet seat was loose, and hinge cover was missing, and was gross inside it. Tub also had cigarette burns on it. We also had to go the the lobby to access the internet, and when we decided to watch TV, a number of the channels were all snowy and unwatchable! Not worth the $90.00 we were charged. Go elsewhere!!

  40. Just left the EconoLodge on American Ave. In Memphis. because we were there for the Liberty Bowl, were trapped for four days. Room did not have a clock, tv controller, coffee pot, telephone, a hair dryer or a channel listing for the tv. Bed did not have a fitted sheet on the bottom and only a sheet for covering. When I asked for a blanket was told they did not have any and that we should cover with the bed spread!!! bathroom floor was sticky, mouse turds behind the toilet, the front and back of the tv had tape holding it together, walls patched and not painted, curtains off the rod. Internet connection sporadic and tv channels minimum. they forgot to clean our room one day and when I complained, they handed me clean towels and said housekeeping went home. breakfast was to begin at 6am. Went down to get coffee at 6:30 and some very strange couple were preparing it. when I mentioned that the sign said breakfast served from 6 am, she said "honey, sometimes people oversleep". Everything made by them, the eggs and the gravy for the biscuits was burnt and uneatable for the 4 days we were there. Will never ever stay at an EconoLodge
    again.

  41. Well it seems that Econo Lodge Point South has people staying for weekly rates and they are postituting out of their room and the parking lot. I watched three women recently walking the parking lot as what appeared to be advertising themselves. The management is not interested in correcting the problem. Most of the rooms are under stocked with linen and lights don't work in the room and outside the hotel. Stair cases are dark at night and it is scarey.

My wife and I stayed at the Econolodge at Stone Ave. in Tucson, Arizona last weekend. When we first walked into our room we found someone still had there belonging in our room. The front desk stated that there had been a misunder standing. Next, at about 2:30 AM we were a waken by some drunkn people in the room next to us. The room was substanard to say the least. Last but the most disturbing is that a day after our stay at this place our bank informed us that there had been some transactions in California that we HAD NOT NO PART OF!!!!!!!!! Never again will we stay at an ECONO LODGE or a partner there of.

  48. Bed bugs!!!We arrived late at night and took a room to get a few hours sleep in the Dalton Georgia Econolodge on 2007 Tampico Way. The overall appearance of the room we stayed in appeared to be clean. However, the next morning i woke up with a very itchy arm, we found a bedbug on the bed. We took it down to the front desk in a cup and were advised they have had problems with bedbugs in the past. We asked for a refund & because we had paid cash, they stated they did not have cash available and we would have to wait til monday & call back. i advised them if cash was a problem, They could put the money we paid on my card. They said they could not do that because it has to be 'approved' first. Not only was there bedbugs, but we opened the small dresser in between the two beds & found mouse droppings. The comforter also had dried blood on it and had not been washed. The lady at the front desk contacted the manager and manager told her that she would take care of this on Monday (stayed a friday night), today we had to call her again because she did not call back as promised. Sure enough, she made the excuse that because we did not see the bedbugs til morning...they refused to give us a refund. I would not let my pets stay in this motel. STAY AWAY!!

  49. At the Econo Lodge in Jackson, TN. 1963 US 45 Bypass they need some new furniture and new fixtures in the rooms, new carpet, new flat screen TV's, smell out of the hotel. My mattress sunk in, chairs to sit in where nasty, lamp didin't work, TV keep acting up, need new bed spreads, I wonder even if they wash the bedspreads, definitely new pillows, owe my gosh, they need to inform the cleaning people you have to dust and wipe down stuff in the room after people check out. You could not see out the class door in the room so nasty. Continental Breakfast was a joke, glad there where other places close by to eat at. Check your room with a fine tooth comb if you stay there.

Said all the other hotels in the area had "no vacancy". Booked us and took our credit card info. When we arrived desk clerk informed us no money changed hands through her so we could get our money back if we wanted. $30 of our $80 stay went to the agency and they paid the hotel $50. Rooms were disgusting and in serious disrepair! Will never stay at an Econo Logde/Choice Hotel again! Sorry for everyone else here who had experiences similar or worse than ours! Seems to be no recourse!

  51. After my elderly aunt and uncle traveled 10+ hours in snowstorm Virgil they ended up hungry, tired and stressed in Econolodge in Greenville, Illinois. They were unable to stay in the main building due to the depth of the snow and was put up in a nearby building just off the main building. Worried about our family (all food places were closed due to the storm) we called the motel and Amy the hotel clerk answered the phone. She was able to check on our loved ones and physicallly take them something to sustain them until the morning. Amy Thank you soooo much for being there and accommodating my family in time of need. Knowing you were there and giving them just something to eat so they can relax is so comforting to us. Amy you are customer service! Thank you again! Kim and Angie

  56. I stayed at the econolodge in Albuquerque (I-25 exit 224A)and was BURNED on my hand when I unplugged my computer from an electrical outlet and accidently touched the electrical cord that powered the lights above the bed!!! Sparks shot from the old frayed cord that had wires exposed!!! Once again, I was burned on my hand while unplugging an electrical device from the socket. After talking to the useless front desk attendant(Bobby), I was informed that the building was built in the 1940's and he was 'not suprised' that the wiring was outdated. Really?!?! If it were not for the fact that I had a 2 year old in the room with me, and Bobby's "I could care less" additude, I probalbly would not have called the police or the fire department to report the incident. 'Ol Bobby even had the nerve to yell at me because he had a police car in his parking lot and deemed it bad for business. I cant wait till the fire department does a 'complete' inspection and shuts the shit-hole down...

  57. I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Yuba City Cal. on June 14-15, 2013. My family and I picked this motel as we were walking in the Relay for Life Cancer fundraiser being held at the field next door and it was recommended by the Relay committee. I will never, and I can't emphasize the word never enough, stay there again. And based on my experience there, I doubt if I would go to an Econo Lodge at any location. When we checked in, one room that was given to us did not even have a working shower. They moved to another room which had a tv that did not work. They stayed in that room because we were walking in the Relay so didn't have time to watch tv anyway. The room I got had used bathroom linens hanging on the shower curtain rod, no towels, no kleenex, no shampoo but it did have a bottle of lotion that had already been opened! We were standing in our room with the door open and a pit bull ran into the room. We saw more than one dog, including other pitbulls, in the motel, in the parking lot and even in the breakfast room on Sunday morning. I have nothing against dogs, even pitbulls (my grandson has one) but they should not be allowed to run up and down the halls and in the food area. There were several occasions where people were eating breakfast or just sitting in the waiting area that did not strike me as being paying customers except for possibly being by the hour and there were several younger "ladies" there dressed as tho it could be an hourly thing. The back door had the locking area that should have required a key but it didn't work and so anyone could just walk in and out (and they seemed to do just that). And to top it all off, when I used the bathroom right before we were ready to check out, our toilet would not flush at all. We would have moved to another location but there was nothing else available due to the Relay. I have also written to the Relay for Life committee and suggested they take the Econo Lodge off of their list of places to stay for that weekend each June. We travel a lot and have stayed in a lot of motels but we have never ever had an experience like this one. I told the desk clerk about all this as we were leaving and she said she was sure the manager would contact me. It has not happened.

  58. The Colorado Springs Econo Lodge ripped off a Black Forest fire victim. PLEASE SHARE!!!!!
Around 3AM on June 12, our home of 23 years burned to the ground in Black Forest Colorado. My family got out safely. I reserved a room at the Econo Lodge at 1075 Kelly Johnson Blvd in Colorado Springs that allowed 3 cats and a dog. The next morning, my wife and I attended a meeting for citizens who had lost their homes, while my daughters loaded our belongings into the car. I have been a "Diamond Elite" member of the Econo Lodge frequent guest program for 14 years, staying up to 170 nights per year. As a member I have always been allowed to extend my check out time to 1:00 pm, when needed. By the time my daughters got the pets in the car it was 1:45 pm. The manager Donovan O'Donnell charged us for another full day, because of "late checkout", When I called Mr.,O'Donnell and explained the circumstances, he said he was not able to rent the room that night, (which is highly unlikely due to the number of homeless residents) and he refused to refund the charges, regardless of the fire or my status with the motel. I have met many wonderful caring people after the fire, from firefighters to police, to many similarly displaced people, but I admit I was not prepared for such a heartless display of greed, as I experienced at the Econo Lodge. He has lost my business permanently!!

    1. This is disgusting ... the Black Forest fire is a national emergency and the most destructive fire in Colorado history. More than 500 people lost their homes, and this Donovan O'Donnell can't make an exception in such a traumatic, chaotic situation? You lose everything and now have to pay this extra fee? I hope Econo Lodge corporate office provides a refund to you at once.

  59. Just had an interesting run in at the Econolodge on 1750 E. Reno Avenue in OKC. My wife and I was entering the hotel lobby and register and there was a lady complaining about the rooms smelling like cigarette smoke and she had a non-smoking room. I asked why she was leaving and not staying and she said it smelled like they had covered the smokey room with room deoderizer. My wife and I decided to just eat the 75 dollars and not take a chance on making ourselves sick since we have bad allergies. The lady at the desk was rattling off some foreign tongue and yelling at the person on the other end of the phone. We decided to go other hotels because of this and hope you all can get this hotel in better shape so you won't get these comments.

  61. Re:429 Duffy Ave. Hickville, NY 11801 I was just at this Econolodge this past wkend 6/27/13-6/29/13 for my aunts funeral. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I am waiting on a call back from a message I left at the corporate office. The general manager at the hotel was very rude and never apologized for charging my credit card 4 times when they were not suppose to. I had to go to my bank today to try and get things straightened but I have to wait for the hotel to fax my bank authorizations to release my funds. I walked in on a housekeeper using the toilet in my room when I returned from my aunts funeral. I asked her to leave right away and she gave me nothing but attitude, took very slow actions in getting me clean towels and changing the trash and told me to just let her finish her job. Please also note, she never washed her hands! She says to me that she was only peeing (like I was trying to make a big deal out of nothing). I got in to a very heated argument w/her after the front desk sent only their head of housekeeping to my room. Conveniently there were no managers on duty that night. I explained to that head of housekeeping what happened and the housekeeper yelled at me that I was lying. I was furious! That HOH (Arthur) apologized to me and told me that she was not suppose to do that. Considering all the hell this hotel put me through the general manager never apologized for anything. Also, there is no central air in the halls on either floor of the 2 story hotel. There is central air in the lobby for the front desk and managers offices though. Bob at the front desk was however, very apologetic and consistently nice the entire stay at the hotel. I'm hoping that corporate will call me back. This hotel needs to be held accountable for holding up $546.52 of my money for no legitimate reason & for very poor customer service with the exception of Bob.

  64. We checked into a EconoLodge in Chesterton, IN; near the Indiana Dunes. We were extremely let down as this is a national chain. At check in the desk lady, turned around and asked, is room #223 Clean? We should have left right then, but being tired and unfamiliar with the area----We got their number from the Visitor center at the Indiana Dunes. At check in I asked the lady about the AAA discount, she never even asked to see my card, only replied, I think you already have it. We got into the room, we had maybe half of the towels we should have had, one of the pictures on the wall above the bed was hanging by one hook from one corner of the frame, there was only one lamp on one of the bedside tables, we are both readers and asked for a second lamp, to no avail, the "maintenance man" came in and took the picture off of the wall and set it on top of the mini-fridge, along with the window screen that was setting on the floor behind the mini fridge. We called about extra towels and pillow; we were told, we had to come get them, now remember this was the same phone call requesting another lamp and about the dangling picture above the bed; the maintenance man obviously is not allowed to deliver towels and/or pillows. The continental breakfast was 3 different types of Little Debbie snack cakes, toast, juice machine and coffee. Taking a shower, the tub did not drain and water stood up to your ankles, this was on the 2nd floor, imagine being on the first floor. The pressure and hot water were GOOD. The electrical outlet next to the sink and mirror did not work, it was loose in the wall and the GFI was inoperable -- great fire hazard. The towels were not just a little rough, they were EXTREMELY rough to use. I had to change to toilet paper, and, yes that was an extra roll; however, when I took the empty roll off there was used toilet paper behind the back of the roller. I will never make a reservation with this chain again, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone. Personnel very unprofessional and unfriendly. A real shame to run a business like this and charge almost $80.00. This was in June of 2013.

Stained sheets and comforter, threadbare and stained towels and washcloths, rooms not made up because 'they run on a skeleton crew on the weekends', frustrated staff. i thinks Econo Lodge corporate needs to do a better job of checking up on their franchisees more frequently. This is a poorly run organization who gives their franchisees the go ahead to cut costs wherever they can and encourage poor customer service.

  66. I had booked through EXPEDIA, a prepaid stay with Econolodge, 7458 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945 (619-462-7022). As a normal procedure, a credit card was required for security deposit that is to be refunded when checking out. When I checked-out, I returned the room key card. A week later when the security deposit has not been refunded in my credit card account, I called Econolodge, Lemon Grove, Ca and they said that I should have provided my credit card when I checked out so that they can run it again for the refund. So then I provided the credit card information over the phone thinking that I made a mistake in checking out. 3 days later with no refund received yet, I called and the reply was that the manager RUPAL was on vacation and only the manager can process the refund. Upon the return of the manager, I called again and they claimed that they had already processed the refund transaction. I asked for the transaction number so that I can check with my credit card customer service. They said that they will call me back and to date, no refund transaction has been noted in my account. I have made a total of 7 calls and nobody seems to be able to help.

  68. We stayed at the Econo Lodge in Lake George, NY. (439 Canada st.) from 8/13-8/15. We had a nice trip except for the fact that our laptop was stolen out of our room when we went down for breakfast on our last day there!! It was about 10am a d we decided to pack up and get ready to go. But we decided to leave the laptop plugged in until we got back from breakfast so that our kids can watch a DVD on the car ride back home. So we went down, had breakfast, and came back up to the room. We hadn't even returned the key or checked out yet, as checkout time was at 11 and it wasn't even 10:30. Upon our return to the room, it was obvious that housekeeping had already been there...beds stripped, etc. Immediately, we noticed that the laptop was missing. We went to the office to report it. The lady in the office was very nice and immediately called the housekeeper down who cleaned the room. She denied even SEEING. the laptop which is impossible. So we called the police, filed a report and I guess it's our loss!! Apparently the staff is not held responsible for stealing.

  69. We stayed at the Econo Lodge in Cincinnati, OH. The term 'roach-motel' sums it up! It was the nastiest place I have ever been in. It was my birthday weekend and we decided to take a trip. The photos depict this place as a descent stay for the price. HOWEVER, DO NOT BE FOOLED!! The room was in deplorable condition. The walls had holes that were poorly patched. The paint was hideous and chipping in several spots. The bathtub was dirty and stained with something black. The walls were atrocious! They needed wiped down, like a year ago kind of soon. There were black scuff marks all over the walls. The microwave sat on a long horizontal dresser. Under the microwave was crumbs and filth. Did I mention, there are COCKROACHES??!! Yes, COCKROACHES! The front desk clerk, Mike was ridiculously rude. When I complained about the roaches he had the most nonchalant attitude ever. Then I was forced out with a 30 minute time period to pack my things and get my child together because I was complaining! I was in room 222 for all of about 4 hours, until all hell broke loose! I did call the local police department on the desk clerk because he refused to show me proof that he sent a refund request to Expedia. None the less..... WORST PLACE EVER! save your money and go elsewhere. Unless you don't mind living with and bringing cockroaches home with you!! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!! If anyone doesn't believe a word I said... I took plenty of photos to show proof!

First as I got into door going into the hallway there was 2 glue traps(left)(bug catchers) underneath the staircase(going to 2nd floor) in plain view..needless to say they stayed there from Saturday to Wednesday full of bugs and no chance of changing anytime soon..mildew in ice machine...bags of laundry at the end of hallway going to my room a couple doors down...mildew in room...droppings in bathroom which I took to be from roaches or a big bug(there first day and still when I checked out...No hot water the last morning I took shower...(don't know what that was all about)...The breakfast was pathetic..little muffins..bagels hard..cereal ..juice..Did not report it because it would not take a rocket scientist to see it and did NOTHING about it..I wanted to stay at Econo in Harrisonburg and pressed wrong one on computer and was informed all day long of not being able to cancel...got on phone right after mistake..man in lobby said to call after 9..called at 8 am and they said I would have to call choice motels...did...and they said it would be up to Motel since they are individually owned...the lady was nice and called them for me while I was on phone...she said they said "NO CANCELLATION" Trying to take care of this..even at my work...still no satisfaction..did call someone above choice and they called Econo also and said the Manager had gone for the day and had a note..NO CANCELLATIONS OR REFUNDS...Boy they were really sticking to their guns...Now the picture was real clear...Then last but not least after I stayed on the phone all day I finally called a number to cooperative office(econo lodge)Corporate Phone Number: 1-301-592-5000 and NEVER returned my call after waiting 2 days...That is why I was stuck with staying here..It was either pay for somewhere I wasn't staying or drive to my Mother 18.9 miles versus 7.8 miles from Harrisonburg Va and pay for another Motel...ALL I wanted to do was stay at Harrisonburg VA versus Staunton VA...WHAT A VACATION...and YES I did take pictures...Where to post is the next question...????

  73. Stayed at Econolodge in La Crosse WI Late when we checked in was just staying til early the next morning but had a very bad experience. Hair on bathroom floor, lobby tv on all night and very loud. Curtain was broken could not close completly. We stopped at a rest stop that was cleaner than the hotel room. I would of been better of and ahead $92 sleeping in my car.

  74. Spent one night at Orangeburg SC Econo Lodge. Should have slept in our car instead. Front door looked liked it was previously kicked in. Lamp cord fixed with electrical tape. Door to adjoining room unlocked. Tattered washcloths. Dead bugs in bath light fixture. Shower so disgusting we wouldn't use it. Cigarette burn holes in blankets. Spare blankets had unidentifiable spots. Their restaurant closes at 2pm. After this experience, we would never stay at another Econo Lodge.

  76. My family stayed at the Econolodge in Christianburg. It was horrid as within half hour there were roaches crawling around the coffee maker and microwave. One crawled up my drink and around the night table. The ironing board fell apart in my family's hand. The manager said he could try to get 1 night's money back but it was up to the General manager who only wanted to refund 10.00 per night. We had to try to get an elderly man up the stairs. without falling as we were offered another room on the 2nd floor. That room too was infested but not as bad as the first. The hotel has problems and needs to be serviced. THe reason why we stayed was at the time there was no other available hotel close to our event. The General Manager refused to speak to me on the phone via the Manager. It was a horrid experience and we will never stay at an Eco lodge again.

  77. We stayed at the Econo Lodge in Fort Lee N For 2 nights, my son had a Double Lung Transplant at Columbia Presbyterian.
The room smelled like cigarette smoke, the sink backed up, the refrigerator controls were broken,my wife went to bed with her clothes on. And they were fly's in the room. The next day we left, and were told we would get reimbursed for the 2nd night it has been 8 days and still no credit on my credit card. I had to call the corporate office Stay Away from this place.

  78. According to some of the comments on this site, I think the rude, shabbily dressed clerk at the EconoLodge in Hannibal, MO saved us from some of the nightmares stated here. I started by asking him about the Dam and Lock on the river (Lock #22), which he claimed didn't exist. I then asked him if the rooms were clean - he was offended! We asked for rates and we were going to check in, but he wanted a copy of my driver's license. "What are you going to do with it?" I asked. "I don't feel comfortable with someone having a copy of my DL AND my credit card!" He said, "we keep it!" He told me that it was their policy, and said I probably didn't want to stay there because I asked too many questions. He was right - we left and went to the Best Western on the river front. (They didn't need to copy a driver's license and our accommodations were great. The clerk gave us driving directions to Lock #22). Our experience at the EconoLodge in Hannibal, MO was completely opposite from our experience in Anderson, MO, where the clerk went out of his way to be accommodating.

  80. My business partner and I inspected 3 rooms, 211, 217, and 1222, that ALL presented heavy mold/mildew in each and every one of their bathrooms. We were very disgusted. Rooms, 211 and 217, presented a horrid smell, dirty bathrooms, and filthy walls where you can clearly see shoeprints everywhere. Room 211 presented a very sticky substance on the sink counter with 2 pieces of yellow rice stuck to the sticky substance notifying me that this room apparently was not cleaned after the previous guest departure. Room 211 also presented a very large amount of a brown smelly dried liquid substance on the bottom of the bathroom door.
Room 1222 presented previous guests hair in the bathtub as well as hair stuck to the bathroom's air vent. Room 1222 also presented dirty bath towels. There were no clean towels, washcloths, or toiletries present in this room.
The "so-called" high speed internet was very slow like DSL dial-up internet. The internet continued to buffer every 5 minutes so I couldn't finish my corporate business using Econo-Lodge "fast internet". I presented all of the concerns that I had with all of the rooms to the front desk lady . Her response to me was she doesn't know why the outside rooms closer to the front office facing the parking lot wasn't cleaned because they always keep those rooms clean to show the guests prior to their payment of the room so the guests doesn't have to walk far. It appeared to me this particular "motel" does not clean the outside rooms facing the parking lot, they take pride in their poolview rooms (the inside rooms facing the pool). I truly felt the front desk lady purposely lied in order to make a sale no matter what complaints I had and no matter what condition the rooms were in.
I give this "motel" an absolute F.
Overall, my experience at Econo-Lodge has been the absolute worst therefore I will never return as a patron nor will I ruin someone's night by referring anyone to Econo-Lodge Inn & Suites near the Florida Mall in Orlando, Florida.

  81. So I get a room at this Hotel in Salisbury NC thinking I could get away from the cold & inclimate weather. My Bank statement says I paid on the 24th of Jan. but the receipt states I paid & arrived on the 23rd of Jan. Plus there was only 1 Adult (Me) but how on the receipt it says 2 Adults? What I’m getting at is falsified documentation and information? So the morning of the 24th I get a call at 11am saying I had to check out. I asked why, the female says because this is the time of your check out. Before I get checked out I ask how is it that I arrived on the morning of the 24th but still have to check out on the 24th? The front desk attendant couldn’t give me a straight answer. So I check out because I didn’t want to incur any additional charges. I called back to speak to the manager and she states that she could help me. How could you help me on the phone if you couldn’t help me in person, let me speak to the manager. She says the manager won’t be in for another week. What kind of an operational scheme are they running?
I had to call corporate to get straight answers, and the bottom line is at 6am check in, you still have to check out at 11am the SAME DAY!! They don’t tell you that up front so they can rob you of your stay & money in the end.
They pulled a fast one on me I swear it won’t happen again, because I’m never going to stay at any of their establishments again.

  82. I booked for 2 nights at the Econo Lodge in Mount Laurel, NJ. It seemed convenient because of the close proximity to Philadelphia; my boyfriend and I had tickets to a dinner cruise in Penns Landing. I arrived approximately 4:30 PM when I was told that I would have to wait 30 minutes for the room to be cleaned. I waited for 30 minutes and was told I had to wait additional time because the room was still not clean. I waited over an hour for a room that had a 3:00 PM check in. All the employee could say was that she had no control over the situation and offered complimentary tea and coffee. There wasn't any coffee and only one tea bag. This was not accommodating at all. To top it off, once checked in I had to rush to get dressed for my dinner cruise that should've been special; however, my time was ruined because of the unprofessionalism. Next, time I will choose to stay at the Red Carpet Inn next door.

  83. We had two rooms booked at the Econo Lodge in Richardson, Texas. We checked in ok & went to our rooms only to discover that it was a dump. I am 75 years old & have never stayed in a hotel/motel as bad as this one. We were too tired to drive any farther safely, so we decided to stick it out. The place was filthy. We had to get sheets changed in one room before we could even lay the grandkids down. The shower was filthy & the door was broken. I slept in a broken office chair until 4:30 AM. We were loaded & out of there by 5 AM. I have stayed in $9.95 Motel 6's that were better than this. I see no more Econo Lodge's in this families future. Such a shame.

  84. The Econo Lodge in Mountain Home, Arkansas is an absolute sty. I and some dear friends had to go up to that region to pay respects to my father who had passed the day before. My friend had reserved two rooms through Expedia and was guaranteed the rooms. When we got there and approximately 1:30 am, the night desk clerk told us that their computers were saying that it was still the day before (saying that it was still the 29th and not the 30th as it really was) and using that as a chance to bilk us out of even more money. The lobby stank of unwashed bodies and was so bad, one could smell the stench outside through a closed door. The clerk was exceptionally rude and aggressive and we decided, after 30 minutes of trying to get this nightmare over with, to go somewhere else. As it turns out, he STILL tried to charge us for the rooms even though we did not stay in them for a second. We contacted Expedia and reported the problem. Not only did they refund the money, they took Econo Lodge off of their list. This was an absolute outrage and most definitely NOT the way to run a business. I can safely state that I, my friends, or any one else that I can speak to, will EVER stay at an Econo Lodge again. Horrible experience.

  85. Here is an article from our local news station. I WILL NEVER STAY AT AN ECON LODGE AGAIN! You would think that at minimum they would have had a sign positioned to let people know who were in rooms next to them, but no. Now another victim, this makes me very angry and it is sickening.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – We have new details involving a local motel where a registered sex offender was arrested.

Police took him into custody following an alleged incident where he lured a 5 year old girl into the room where he was living.

As we reported Wednesday, Terre Haute Police say Timothy Blazier was living at the Econo Lodge fresh off his prison sentence.

We learned he’s not the only sex offender living here, and this motel is contracted with the state to house sex offenders coming off of prison sentences.

Timothy Blazier was convicted of molesting an eight and a three year old in Fountain County back in 2007. Later, Clinton County also convicted him for failing to register as a sex offender.

Now, he’s in Vigo County’s jail for criminal confinement, and police say the alleged incident happened here at the Econo Lodge.

“A family had got off the interstate and was staying at the hotel, and there was some children out playing in a play area there, and he lured one of the children into his hotel room,” said Clark Cottom, Vigo County’s Chief Deputy.

Police say the girl’s screams led to her escape from Blazier’s room, where police found her pants.

News 10 learned Blazier is not the only registered sex offender staying at this motel. According to the Indiana Sex Offender Registry, there are currently 13 registered sex offenders living here at the Econo Lodge. Eight of those sex offenders are listed as sexual violent predators.

  86. I WILL NEVER STAY AT ECONO LODGE AGAIN!!! I had an early flight leaving out of Charlotte, NC and I live three hours away, so I found a close hotel for one night. I checked in at midnight and checked out at 5 am (yes...a total of 5 hours!!!!). Upon arrival I handed over my MasterCard and she charged me for my room, but she also charged my VISA card, which is the card I used online to HOLD the room. When I checked out at 5 am, this same girl gave me my papers and I left. When I arrived at my destination in Texas, I checked my account and my VISA was charged TWICE and my MasterCard was charged ONCE! So I paid for my room 3 times! I called back in and the lady said she would release the pending charges on my account. Well one of the pending charges was released on my account but the other one actually went through. I called back again and the Manager asked me if I stayed two nights and I told him I didn't even stay ONE WHOLE night....I wasn't even there for 6 hours! He tells me that there is a reversal but can't tell me if two reversals were made because he doesn't know! I AM SOOOO PISSED RIGHT NOW! I will NEVER use CHOICE HOTELS AGAIN!!! I would rather pay the extra money to have a peace of mind about my transactions and hotel stay. Not to mention, the hotel was not clean and the pool was FILTHY!!!!! It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in over a year. EWE!!!!!!!!!

  87. Just had the worst experience of 40+ years in business and leisure travel staying out anywhere from 60 - 140 nights per year. The Econolodge in Old Saybrook, CT which was recommended by the Old Saybrook Inn & Spa as an alternative since no rooms were available there that night is the worst DUMP I and my family have ever stayed in. The Rooms were so DARK & DIRTY would not even think about sleeping in the beds much less taking off our clothes to use the discusting BATHROOM SHOWERS. The sink didn't drain and we had to call down for the Mgr to come and fix it several times. The best thing that could happen to this place would be for it to BURN TO THE GROUND or be BULDOZED and have a real hotel put up in its place. Was able to book another room in New Haven, CT at a Laquinta for $15 less and about 15 miles away and that room had a view of LI sound and not the FROG POND at this dump. WE Will NEVER EVER stay at another ECONOLODGE or as a matter of fact any other CHOICE Hotels ever again and suggest they be removed from HOTELS.COM since they are so poorly maintained.

  88. On May 14, 2014 my husband and I stayed at the Econolodge in Dalhart, TX in room 104. We checked in at 8:30 pm and did not look at the room before paying for it. The right hand side of the door frame was ripped off, therefore there was no clasp for the security lock. Someone obviously had kicked in the door. The tub faucet was loose, the shower not running properly, the tub not draining, the towel holder screws coming out of the wall, and one of the chair cushion was completely frayed. We paid $79.09 for this! The staff we spoke with in the morning informed us that the woman who rented us the room is the owner of the Econolodge in Dalhart, TX. Interestingly, upon check-in she asked us twice if we had a pet. We did not. Furthermore, in my experience a dog has never ripped off a door frame. We don't understand how an OWNER can rent a room which is in this shape. She needs to learn that this may be okay in New Delhi but it is not okay in Texas.

  89. I recently made a reservation at the Econolodge in New Paltz NY. Icalled to motel just now and was quoted a $79.00 room rate, however when I made my reservation I was charged $139.00 . When we arrived we were charged $179.00. After seeing the filthy condition of the room we decided to stay elsewhere. We were told that if we cancelled we would be charged $250.00 .

If you look at reviews of this place on Trip Advisor you will see that I am not the only person who feels that they are being ripped off and taken advantage of by the management of this property. I think you should send a secret shopper and see how they are treated. This is not a “Choice” hotel, and they give you a bad name!

    Sincerely,

    A disgusted guest.

  92. Just stayed at Econolodge in Wilmington, NC. Only motel available they had one room available. Check in was ok, cost $92.00. Was given smoking room, smelled like month old dirty laundry. The air conditioner sounded like a jet engine, if you turned if off the became exceedingly hot. The guest next to our room left TV on all night. The next morning guests were up before daylight screaming and yelling. The bed a king was very uncomfortable. Went to check out and a homeless person was going thru outside ash tray for cigarette buts right in front of where people were eating. Advised clerk of situation she acted like she could care less and said there was nothing she could do. Left very upset at Econolodge dump.

  93. Stayed at the Econo-Lodge at Oakland, Ca airport as it was a reasonable price for a very early flight the next morning .We checked in about 4pm and discovered that the mattresses are basically air mattresses that fill with a switch on the bed and the remote was missing. We notified the desk about the remote and went to dinner and get last minute flight items. We returned that night and no remote. We called again and eventually someone replaced the old tv with another one. We also discovered that the shower would not stay on. We should have just checked out at that point but we were all exhausted. Soon a large party in the hotel started and these was loud music and people talking and laughing in the parking lot and halls. I was still tolerating all this until about 10:15pm when we heard a loud boom that sounded like a gunshot. My daughters could not stop crying .We laid quietly hoping it was firework of some sort and then packed up and checked out. We had to get a room at Holiday Inn that night instead. The Manager refused to refund the money and would not even give me the owners name. I intend to file with the better business bureau and feel outraged about the safety of this location (in addition to all the physical issues with the room itself).

  95. Disgusting, over priced, and unAmerican”

1 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

Booked this through Booking.com features included cable tv and breakfast. Pulling into the parking lot, which was packed with people going to the Jimmy Buffett Concert nearby, which is why we booked the hotel as well...at $180.00 a night, the first thing I noticed was an American flag on a pole that must have been there for years, ripped to shreds. I looked at the name of the owner, which was Patel, which to me reflected how this owner felt about our country. The dead flowers in the flower pots looked like they had been there from last year, and the grounds were overgrown. Went into the lobby, rang the bell 4 times, other guests lined up behind us, and finally someone came out. Our room smelled of a musty mold, curtains were drawn, room was outdated, a blue tub with the shower pipe bearly hanging on the wall. Tried the tv , which the power button was broken, so you had to use the remote to turn it on, which had no working batteries in it. Called the desk, and she said she would send someone....but never did. $180.00 to sleep 8 hours was a little much...taking advantage of concert goers. But breakfast was included...so in the morning went to the breakfast room...NO one was there which should have been our first indication that this too was a sham....no juices in the juice machine, coffee machine was unplugged, cereal availabe but no milk to put on it, and outdated yogurt in the mini frigerator. AND of course NO one answered the bell at the front desk.

I thought I would voice a complaint to Corporate Headquarters about our experience at The Econo Lodge in Estes Park, CO., however, it seems from everything I'm reading that they do nothing about the complaints. So, like the rest of you, we will never stay at an Econo Lodge again. This one should be condemned! Dead animal in pool was unbelievable. Shame on Corporate for not addressing these people's complaints and allowing independent owners to use the Econo Lodge name.

I'm beginning to agree with you anonymous (July 22, 2014 @ 6:39pm) We just got back from Colorado and stayed at the Econo Lodge in Colorado Springs and some jerk stole items out of our backpack which was left behind - we called to report this and at the time the clerk assured me all the said items were in there but when we picked up the pack on our way back home to Illinois, only my husbands items were in there and not mine - obviously some female staff member helped herself to my things - so angry at the moment. Unprofessional and never again will we stay there!

  102. I booked this hotel in Atlantic City through Book.com. I will never ever go to another Econolodge nor will I recommend my worst enemy to go there. The condition of the hotel and room was totally deplorable. My husband and I were celebrating our 12yr anniversary and we thought this would be great by the water in Atlantic City. To my horror I was shown 4 rooms that stunk to HIGH HELL, the 5th room was tolerable as long as I kept spraying airfreshener and lighting incense. The TV remote was held together by duct tape. The TV reception was very bad. The bathroom window had no curtain, the shower knob falls off. The walls look like they never seen any paint and they were scuffed and filthy. The sign on the front of the hotel told you to park at your own risk and they were not responsible for whatever happens to your car. We had to pay $15 to park in the lot of the hotel. The stairs that led to our room was filthy and rancid with a trash can situated at the foot of the stairs. The workers smoked in front of the non-smoking rooms. We had to stay in this God forsaken place for 3 nights. My husband had to get dressed at 4 in the morning because know one at the front desk would answer the phone when the people next door to us (5 0r 6 Frat Boys) were banging and screaming in their room which kept us up all night long. I paid $393.99 + $15 (parking) and it will take awhile for me to forget this nightmare. I can't believe a place like this has ever passed inspection. The best part about this whole thing is that my husband and I didn't find any bed bugs.

  103. I WAS A FORMER WORKER!! AND NOW VERY ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED!!!

The owner operator of Econolodge Inn & Suites Saint John NB (Bryan Gi) has been stealing money from his staff. I formally worked there the last month after leaving my previous job at another hotel. I took this job as the pay and hours were better for me to meet my needs. The housekeepers said that they never recieve tips as the owner would enter all the rooms before staff arrived in the morning. So I asked the owner two different times of who receives the tips? You or HK? He agreed housekeeping does so the following week I tested that fact, I had one room on my list that hadn't been disturbed by the owner so I took a 20 dollar bill from my pocket with my name on it put it, showed it to the other staff members in housekeeping then put it on the table in the room then shut the door. Sure enough the owner enters the room and it was gone. He denied taking the money until I told him my name was on the bill. He checked his pocket and there it was. He quickly came up with 4 different excuses. 1 He was going to give it to me. 2. I took it incase the other housekeepers looked in and took it 3. I collect all the tips, then split it up, then when I had enough of this as I am a loyal honest hard working person, I called the police and filed a complaint, he then told the police 4. I collected the money incase the guest came back looking for it.
This was the 2nd time this happened. The first time was tested with 5 dollars in change, same thing, it was gone from room, but I cant prove that incident, but it very well happed. This time it was proven with witnesses as I involved staff members followed by police. Today I left my job. Pretty sad if you ask me. If it were the other way around and I stole from the work place, id be charged and fired. I never got an apology except smiling and smirking as if I am wrong. And in conclusion, this hotel really needs a Board of Health Inspector, as people will soon get really sick from the continental breakfast thats served daily..between food storage, mold, re used food, bugs, mice and dishes are done by hand cold water and liquid hand soap. I refused to work the kitchen as I have my food & safety course and I can not jeopardize my certificate.

  104. My family (pregnant wife and 2 younger children under age of 6) and I stayed at the Econolodge in Allentown, PA this past weekend. Our room looked like a disaster area....small hole in the bathroom wall...tv hardly worked right...we go sight-seeing and return around 10 pm, kids are cold...so I turn on the heater (temperature was about 53 deg outside) and the room started to fill up with fumes...REAL SAFE FOR THEM AND MY PREGNANT WIFE!!! I had to open the door to air the room out. Kids fall asleep, wife and I toss & turn...finally fall asleep & subsequently wake up to hearing 2 parties going on in rooms on both sides of us. Kids yelling, "woooing", and drinking. Then around 2:30 am, my 4 & 6 yr olds woke up and heard some people from the party outside of our window yelling derogatory and racial names (N-word...F-word...etc). And asks me what those words mean....I call the front desk, it rang for over 15 minutes w/o answer. I call from my cellphone, someone finally picks up and says "i was in bathroom & went outside for a smoke...i've been only gone 5 mins"....then when I complained about what my child had to witness hearing, how the value of the room did not exceed the price i paid and that I wanted something to be done for these problems, she didn't say sorry or offer to resolve the issue. Just kept saying "yes, I understand" and then hung up....I wonder what I should do?! And to my anguish yesterday, my younger daughter (4 1/2 yrs) used those words in school yesterday...All because the Econolodge and their customer service (or should I say, lack there of)....as we do not use that language in my house. Thanks Econolodge....

  105. Let me share what I posted on Yelp, and btw, a deputy was able to give me the name of the inhumane, rude desk clerk--BRITTANY ROBERTS. I will be calling corporate to see if this HUMAN BEING can be fired!:

My 81-year old parents stayed at this hotel, in room #121. Their cat was able to get through an opening in the tub where you can get in to work on plumbing. The hotel left the opening the cat got through open, and is saying they have done all they could, saying there is no cat in the room. That is all they did. This is a "scardey cat". If anyone other than my parents or I were to enter that room, the cat would hide back in that hole, under the bed, or anywhere he could get away. I called the local news station to report this, as when I called there was a VERY rude "only the desk clerk" that would not allow me to talk, and said there was no manager to speak to. I doubt that. She hung up on me after not letting me get a word in, saying that "I wasn't there". Duh, my parents stayed there, and I live in Florida. What IS with the defensiveness?! After calling around, before calling this LOVELY establishment, I spoke with the Information Center in Florence, SC, where I was told (duh) that the hotel IS liable for getting an animal out of their plumbing system, most likely by calling animal control, which I tried, but this is after hours. I could not find any animal rescue places in this desolate area. WPDE NewsChannel 15 is going to try to reach animal control for me, and said they were pretty sure this was news worthy, and will pay a visit to the hotel as well. I cannot believe any establishment would leave an animal to suffer dying, or already be dead, to decompose in their walls!!!????????????????????!!!! I called for my parents, because they are way too upset to deal with this.

    Great job

I guess you get what you pay for! I hope they pay for this somehow, and if we're lucky, can get our pet back whether he has passed away, or hopefully not. If any of you have ever had a pet, he is like a family member. He is a black and white Tuxedo cat named Pinto.

Shame on the rude desk clerk that I spoke with, that would NOT give her name, for her lack of compassion, lack of listening, and much larger vocal cords that she apparently likes to hear more than a customer that she hangs up on. I let her know I would be calling the local news station, and she said,"Good, call the news station!" if that gives you an even more clear idea of what I was dealing with, and what this establishment employs. She was working at 9 pm on 11/8/14, when I called in, if that helps the hotel, that supposedly does not have a manager, or anyone above her to transfer me to; and for her for her EXTREME lack of customer service, or any hint of human decency...to say the least! If she is a fair depiction of this hotel, I don't think my parents will see their pet ever again.

    1. I had to get PETA involved on the advisement of the deputy that gave me that poor excuse for a human being's name, and confirmed that NO call to animal control, the local fire department, or sheriff;s dept had ever been made by the hotel to make any attempts to rescue the animal-by anyone that worked there. When I called them all, it was the first any of those agencies had heard of it. I was advised that they ARE liable and responsible to do something....but they did NOT!
