  1. My husband and I got to the Clarion in Tennessee and checked in at 6:45. My husband filled up the hot tub that was located in our room and the water was very hot, so we turned the jets on and went for a short walk. My son and his girlfriend were with us and returned to the room before we did and a maintenance man was in the room with a vacuum. My son said the man was very rude and used foul language. My son was told that he needed to contact the front desk. My son called his daddy and told him to contact the front desk and he also stated that the room was flooded. We were just walking in the Hotel when we got the call and went to the front desk. We were told to wait on the manager. When the manager arrived, she was very hostile and rude. We were told that we were responsible and would have to pay for the damages. She also stated that we would have to pay for the people's room below us because they had to be moved. We did not and still do not agree and told her that it was not our fault that the equipment malfunctioned and did not work properly. This was clearly the responsibility of the hotel, not ours. We did not realize that we had to get a plumber to check the tub before we could use it!! She stated that the water leaked out of the hot tub because we did not secure the drain enough. We do not believe that this was the problem, because the hot tub was full when we left, and even if it was so, there must have been a problem with the drain. It was a simple plug that you twist left to open and twist right to close. She also stated that we should not have left. This is ridiculous. There is a hot tub downstairs and nobody stands and watches it. This was our anniversary celebration and it was an AWFUL experience. We were moved to another room that my husband assumed would be as big as the one we paid for, but it was not. Sometime during the night or morning hours, a paper was slipped under our door and we had been charged $150.00 for damages. When my husband and myself asked to speak to the manager, we were told that she did not come in until 9:30. We went ahead and left, because we were 5 to 5 1/2 hours from home and my husband had to be at work the next morning. We will NEVER choose to stay at a Clarion and will be sure to tell our friends and family to not choose to stay at one. This was not right that we were charged and treated rudely for equipment that did not work properly!!!! I cried and felt horrible the entire stay!! My family was miserable! The room that we were originally supposed to stay in had a king size bed, fireplace, and a pull out queen sofa. The room we were sent to had 2 queen size beds and was so small I felt claustrophobic. I hope nobody else has to go through this experience!!!

    1. There must be something wrong with the corporate management of this hotel chain. My son and I recently stayed at the Clarion Hotel Toms River NJ..Our quoted price $89.00 per nite, but they said that was not so. This is the only small pet hotel in the area. The hotel is very run down and was converted from a Quality Inn. Unfortunately we had to stay for 2 nites since I have a small indoor pet. When we checked out the charge for the pet was $39.95 and then they charged $143.10 per nite which is outrages especially since we found out that they turned the hotel into a FEMA hotel at $77.00 per nite, and the hotel was fully occupied with people on FEMA relief. It seems they raised the rate for other than FEMA after storm Sandy. THIS IS CALLED RAPING THE PUBLIC. I will never stay at another Clarion Hotel, I will sleep in my car first. THIS IS A DUMP!!!. PS Had to pay $10.00 per room for breakfast which was pretty bad a well.

I have experienced something similar and I am concerned maybe racistism may be involved with this hotel chain.

    3. I hope you disputed these charges with your credit card company. They can only charge you if you left the water running and it overflowed the tub. Equipment repairs is their responsibility.

  2. I am sorry to hear this story. I thought we were the only ones! This weekend, we experienced degrading treatment and rude/unprofessional demeanor as the Clarion Hotel staff in Scottsdale, AZ did not give a hoot about their customers. Via Groupon, we purchased a weekend stay for 5 people (two adults, one elderly lady needing accessibility, and two teen kids). I then booked directly with Clarion Hotel. Never were we told that having more than 5 people in a room was not allowed. We purchased the tickets almost two months prior, called in one week before the trip to confirm and always we received an ok, again stating that we had 5 people. Clarion Hotel personnel stated all was good and that we could check in at 3 pm. So when we got our room on the first floor, there were only two double beds. I called to ask for a roll away bed which had been on their website as an option. In a very cold demeanor, the reception area stated we should not have 5 people as the rooms were for 4 only! What???? I just came from California and was tired and now I may not have a room for my family? What? They saw my reservations and compared it with their computer and they saw the 5 people that had reserved, but it didn't matter. They said "Groupon" made the mistake and to take my problem to them, not to this hotel! They were rude and non caring! Then to top things off, Clarion Staff said since they did see a reservation for 5, that they would "allow" the 5th person to stay in the hotel, but with no roll away beds because it was a fire hazard (and they are just telling me this now?? Hello......) They sent us to use the floor!! That that was what was available to us! What! You're kidding me, right? THE CLARION HOTEL SENDING THEIR CLIENTS TO THE FLOOR????? Did they just say that??? OMG! They were not kidding. It was hurtful, degrading, humiliating and border line discriminatory! Why were they doing this? I don't understand. It did not feel right. I was in shock! I stated to them to be careful because didn't they realize that what they were doing could lead into a lawsuit. Their reaction....again, just a shoulder shrug and I don't care attitude. I had to get out. I tried to leave the hotel 15 minutes after getting there, but I could not find affordable accommodations, especially hard with an elderly lady who had special needs. So we were forced to accept the Clarion's Hotel rules and my son slept on the floor for three days. We used the entire bed coverings from one bed and two of the pillows to cushion the hard floor. We used thin sheets to cover up (at times getting a bit to cold during the night due to the a/c going on and off)but to turn it off would have been too hot. The Clarion Hotel never offered us extra blankets nor sheets nor pillows even though they new someone would be sleeping on the floor! Shame on the Staff! The only nice people were the pool man and the cleaning staff. If the Clarion is discriminatory to clients like us, I wonder how discriminatory they are to their employee's? I find it hard to believe, and hope my children will learn from this ordeal, that small minded individuals still exist and hide behind hotels like the Clarion Hotel and mistreat their customers the way we were mistreated!!! It is utterly amazing that this occurs in the 21st Century. My Lord....shame on these people. And shame on the Clarion Corporation for hiring such awful people to run their hotels. As a result, my collegues, alumni, family, and other friends have vowed never to use Clarion Hotel chains. It is not a time to celebrate this, but a time to learn from it and educate people that people need to be treated with respect and equality! Throwing us to the floor is not the answer. I pray the Clarion Corporation will do the right thing and discipline these culprits. My kids didn't need to feel this animosity!

  4. From the sounds of the other commentaries….I wonder if all the Clarion Hotels need new management! I just left the Clarion Hotel Chicago Midway. I will mention the good things first. The bathroom was very clean, the room was clean, the amenities were replenished…mostly….I was there for six days and the two ceramic coffee cups of the first day – one was replaced by a Styrofoam cup the next day, and the other was gone by the third day. The glass drinking glasses were replaced with cheap plastic cups. What?? Can’t they wash the dishes?
BUT the WORST part was the Internet. They advertised free Internet. Which was false advertising. I wouldn’t have cared if I had to pay a daily rate for it…..anything just so I could HAVE Internet. I was gone during the day, and needed to do about 4 to 5 hours of work at night when I got back to the room. All my computer work revolving around remote accessing another computer. Yet, I couldn’t even read the newspaper on MY computer without waiting forever, much less getting to the other computer. Example: opened the NYTimes, clicked to read an article, waited 177 seconds before it came up, started reading, clicked on a link within the article and waited 69 seconds before that link came up (I was waiting so long, I started counting the wait time). If I tried to remote to the other computer, my computer froze up. I called the front desk, oh yes, ma’am we are having trouble with the Internet…..I will reset the router to see if that helps. HA! Nothing. Moved me to another room. Nothing. I went downstairs to use the computers they had in the lobby…nothing. I would get OK Internet for about one or two minutes and then the whole thing slowed down and nothing would work. And one of the front desk staff members admitted just that!
They had a sign on the front desk….please bear with us we are working on the Internet. HA! The comments I read on Priceline showed that these problems have existed for a long time. I think they are too cheap to really set things up properly, so they just apologize and hope you enjoy your stay anyway. You leave and never come back, but there is always a new group of people to come in, so what do they care?
It is my conclusion that they are falsely advertising free Internet and not providing that service and someone to take them to task for it. Or the corporate head office should get this resolved. Towards the end of my stay I spoke to the manager who told me they had had someone in the day before for “two hours”. Well, guess what? That must have been a lie, because the Internet service wasn’t any better than it had been before he came in, IF there was actually someone there, which I don’t believe.
Anyway, long story short….I lost four days worth of work, I could not access my emails for four days because they come in on my remote computer, I was in Internet hell.
Of course, I will never stay there again……I hope no one else does either. Especially if you need the computer regularly.

  6. We stayed at the Clarion in Valdosta,GA. The front desk clerk was rude, the refrigerator rusty, and there was a leak when we used the shower and tub. I called ahead to make specific arrangements for my disabled mother. Unfortunately, no one had any idea that we called and requesed mobility accessible rooms. Never again.

  7. Wow, so many complaints - here's another one, and very shocking to me...
I took my 17 year old and her older sister (19) to my 17 year old's soccer tournament in Modesto, CA. When my daughter's team kept winning, they got to move on to play on Monday, but unfortunately I had to return home to go to work.
So, I left my daughter's at the hotel to play on Monday and check out, which they did without incident (different hotel). Now when my daughter's team won again and made it into the Championship game to be played on Tuesday (today), I had to book another night at a hotel for her older sister (19) and my soccer player (17) to stay over to play again.
They finished their game at 8pm, and went to dinner with the team, I booked a room on hotwire noting my older daughter's name as the primary guest to check in, which stated must be 18 years of age.
They got to the Clarion at 11:15pm and was turned away. I tried to talk to the manager, but was told by the girl on the phone that she was the only one there and was the night manager. She claimed that they had to be 21 to check in since there was alcohol in the rooms. I told her that it did not indicate that anywhere and actually noted 18. She would not remove the alcohol, or keep the bar key, would not offer to help us find another hotel! Two teenaged girls at 11:15PM in a strange town without a hotel room. It's shameful and had something happened to them I would HAVE SUED THEIR PANTS OFF.
I'm sure looking at all of these complaints I will get no where with the corporate office since apparently they do not train their staff appropriately, but I'm going to give it a try....wish me luck, something needs to be done with that company, leadership starts at the top and obvious to me that their leaders offer some very offensive behavior as their normal policy.

we checked in at three and saw the tv controller did not work so we called to have someone come up and reprogram it. we left for the evening and when we returned i was looking around the room and saw the there was blood smeared on the floor, and on the walls and later blood on the pillow, my son pulled the covers up that he was laying in the bed and found blood on the bed it looked like it wasn't even washed it looked like fresh blood!! i called down to the lobby and there was no manager around so i voiced my complaint and the guy switched rooms for me. we switched rooms at 10:30 went to our new room and went to sleep. when we got up we went down to our free breakfast to find that the hot food was a charge of $3.50 and the cold food was free. we were very disappointed since we just stayed at the comfort inn and they had hot and cold food cheaper the bed was way more comfortable i have a very bad back and it hurt at your hotel which it did not at the comfort inn and it was cheaper!! my family was very disappointed at our stay emily32935@yahoo.com

    1. Hi Emily,I stayed at the same hotel 2nights ago and the a.c had an awful smell of smoke. Housekeeping told front desk that we were smoking in the room and we don't even smoke. We got our bill under the door and they had charged us 250.00 for a damage fee. Sorry to here about the blood that must of been horrific plus it's discussing. I sent emails and voice messages and no one returned our messages til today saying that they had witnesses and the fee will stand. I called my bank and they immediately credited my account back. I checked my account today and they charged my debit card for an additional day when I already paid and left this is the worst hotel in Orlando Florida. We live in Melbourne Fl and I go to Orlando a lot and I will never stay at this hotel ever again.I will be contacting Choice Hotel Corporate office and filing a complaint against them. General Manager Mr V.Patel is blind,if he came to work more often, he would see that his employees are lying by making bogus accusations and cheating people out of their money.

    2. We stayed at this same hotel and was charged for smoking in the room and we don't smoke. The a/c made a awful smell when we turned it on and left to come back to a smoke smelled room. They charged 250.00 damage fee and after we checked out they charged my card again for another day WT??? I called to get the charge taken off and writes me a letter telling me he's not removing the charge that it stands. I called my bank and they gave me back my money and General Manager V.Patel is a crook. They lie and make bogus accusations and cheat people out of their hard earned money.I will be contacting Choice Hotel Corporate office and filing a complaint. I will never stay at this hotel ever again and as far as blood hell no that is disgusting and nasty makes me wonder how long it's been since they changed the sheets GROSS!!!

    3. The same thing happened to me at the Modesto, CA location. I am a non smoker and they claimed there was damage to the room from smoking. This never happened and yet they claim they have pictures from the cleaning staff to support the accusation. They charged my card 250.00 and said there was nothng they could do about it because when I signed I agreed that if they found I was smoking in the room they could assess the charge. The manager Shanelle Remesal was not very polite at all and for all intent and purposes accused my of lying. I am going to complain to the corporate office because this is so rediculously stupid and I believe it is a scam.

  9. Clarion by Choice Hotels, 127 High Street, Morgantown, WV 26505

On July 18, 2012, I called to make reservations for my family under the name of a basketball tournament in which my son was competing. I spoke with Tiffany, who was not very knowledgeable or polished. I asked if any rooms were available for the time frame requested, and she informed me of the blocked rooms which had double beds, and quoted me the rate. I asked if there was a suite available. She informed me that there was 1 King Suite available, but they may need to move my family to another room if whoever reserved that block of rooms comes in and asks for it. My response to that was, "If no one has reserved that specific room, why can't it be reserved by me? That person may not even show up, or want that room?" After much attitude, and my letting her know that we did not have to stay there if it was going to be that much of a hassle to reserve a room, she said, "Well, let's just get you in the room! You won't have to move!" Before getting off the phone, I confirmed the quoted nightly rate of $89.00 + tax (which Tiffany had put me on hold previously to verify with someone else), bed size, amenities, etc. Upon my request, the confirmation was e-mailed to me. Upon our arrival a little after 4 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, I went to check in and get a parking pass. The gentleman at the front desk was polite and swiped my credit card after receiving my photo ID. He then printed out a receipt for me to sign. I initialed it, but looked at the price just before handing it back to him. To my dismay, they were attempting to increase the rate to $131.40/nt. Of course, none of this was mentioned prior to sliding the form to me across the counter. I asked him for clarification, just to be sure I was interpreting the rate correctly. He said, "Yes. It is $131.40 a night." When I challenged that, and referred to my printed out confirmation reflecting $89/nt., out came Tiffany, Front Office Manager. She asked if I was who I am, and looked at the gentleman. Then she asked him,"Did you explain it to her?" Keep in mind that no one contacted me via phone or e-mail to notify me of this prior to my arrival. I asked her why I had not been notified prior to my arrival. She asked, "Nobody contacted you?" When I told her no, and asked when the change was made, she stated, "This happened last night (night before our arrival)." Tiffany was very argumentative, and told me that because 10 people did not reserve a room, I would have to pay the $131.40 per night, "which is our discounted rate for that room". She also claimed that she told me about the 10 people min. reservation required. I refused to pay that, told her it was not my job to keep up with who else reserved rooms, and they should honor the rate originally quoted, especially since it was right there in black and white. I then had to ask for the contact information to the Corporate Office. After staying in the back quite some time, Tiffany returned, reached accross the counter, grabbed one of her business cards, and wrote a contact person's name and e-mail address on the back. Then proceeded to say, "I'm sorry that you chose not to stay with us." To which I responded, "I am sorry that you all have such terrible customer service." Upon our departure, we had to get to the gym so my son could prepare for the first game of the tournament. I had to sit in the car and call several different hotels in an effort to find a place for my family to stay. I spent at least an hour calling hotels, and going on Priceline.com, etc. It does not take a genius to figure out that it would be in the best monetary interest to accept $199.36 (including tax) than to receive no payment for a room that the surprise increase of $70+ dollars cost Clarion. This was a very terrible experience, and I will NEVER attempt to patronize Clarion again.

  11. I live in Pennsylvania, and my family had the worst experience with the Clarion Hotel in Memphis TN 6101 Shelby Oaks Drive. After a 13hr drive for a family celebration we arrived at the hotel, only to get a room where the tolet was stopped, and there was no hot water. The second room the bathroom sink was falling off which we reported to maintanence and was never fixed, and the air condition was not working properly. I had to ask housekeeping to clean our room, and the only thing she did was change our bedding, she left trash, dirty towels, and did not vaccum. We called housekeeping again, and the girl came up and asked my husband what else did we need cleaned? My husband almost lost it, the housekeeping manager came up and saw the what was not done, and asked us about the air, and moved us to our third room. The third room the tv was working for a moment and then stopped, the water was luke warm which was warmer than the other two rooms, I had to take the iron/ironing board from another room, and the blow dryer fell off the wall. During our stay I witness a fight with the staff and another family where the police was called. When we checked out and paid for whatever littled discount we did get, the girl Eva/Ava Hawkins was very rude to my husband and charged my credit card twice this was on Sunday, I checked my account on Monday and saw the charges. I called back to the hotel and spoke with Ruby who said that Eva/Ava did screw up our account and only she can change it, so I asked to speak with the head manager Harmony who was not there, but was told to call back on 7/31/12 and speak to Eva/Ava. My suggestion is this is not a Choice hotel and the Memphis Health Department should be called, as well as the staff being fired. It should be called the Clarion Choice Hotel from hell, and should be condemed. Hopefully coorporate will read this and find a way to refund me back my money. And oh, for the Clarion Hotel Staff, you ALL SUCK.....

  12. We have used Clarion for the past 5 years or so in Syracuse New York. We have always blocked 20 to 25 rooms for the first week of October for the Super Dirt Week. When we left last year, we made the same reservation we always do and then we contacted the hotel yesterday and was told that we did not have a reservation! We needed 25 rooms and was told that they are booked solid and only had 6 rooms. I was shocked this was a Holiday in before and then turned into a Clarion and we have had this standing reservation with them for about 10 years. I sent an email back to the sales manageer and expressed my shock and how could you not have our reservation. I then received a call from her and she left a message on my phone which stated that she called my husband as well(did not ever call him), stated that they had a new person handling that and that there was a wedding booked for the hotel on the weekend we were to be there. She was sorry for the confusion and stated that the wedding still had rooms they have not used we might be able to get them. I am still in shock that it seemed that we got bumped for a wedding, since I know I had made the reservation like I always do and now I had to scramble to find rooms someplace else. I have to say over the past few years using the Clarion in Syracuse, the service has gotten worse and they have a high turn over. We have tried to look past all that up till this year.

  13. I have another one to add to the list - yesterday my husband and I drove 5 hours from East Pennsylvania to Pittsburgh for a football game. We had a reservation at the Clarion, and our room was already paid in full. We get there and were denied check in b/c we didn't have an "acceptable" credit card to hold for incidentals (we were using a prepaid Visa card). The woman at the desk was very rude with us and not very willing to help us figure out our situation. After going back and forth with her for several minutes I finally told my husband let's go find another hotel (to which the woman replied "I highly doubt any hotel around here will accept your card") Funny b/c the very first hotel we went to (The Double Tree Hilton - which I HIGHLY recommend)accepted our card no questions ask. Not only that but they told us Clarion was crazy for not accepting our card, and they discounted us for our troubles.
Today we called hotels.com to get our money refunded for the room we never got to use, and they said they had to call the hotel to confirm the situation. The woman who answered (who was the same woman we dealt with) had absolutely no recollection of having dealt with us, and written us in as a "no call, no show." My husband hung up with Hotels.com and immediately called the Clarion. She miraculously seemed to remember us once my husband mentioned that he had spoken to her corporate. After some more run around we finally did get discounted our money. The aggravation of the situation though has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. That coupled with the other reviews I've read have made up my mind an I will NEVER stay at a Clarion again. I'd rather sleep in my car.

  14. We stayed in a Clarion Inn in Brunswick, GA back in June 2012. My credit card was charged again yesterday by the same place for the same amount. I called there and was told they were aware of this and she will call me back. Why was is my credit card still on file? Why.. If you know about this, am I calling you. They should be calling me. Lesson learned.

    1. I have a great Clarion story....my daughter had a soccer tournament in Buffalo, with her school soccer team, which were staying at Clarion. My husband and I decided to stay there as well and go to the soccer games. It was supposed to be great together time for my husband and myself but turned into a nightmare. The soccer team was all split up in different levels of the hotel...at 1:30am our daughter called our cell phone saying that someone was trying to break into their room (her and two other teammates). The person had a keycard and was trying to flip the lock with a knife. He told them he was with the front desk, but had no identification and was trying to force his way into the room. My husband ran up there and saw the guy going downstairs. He went to the front desk to demand answers and they were apologetic, they had the wrong room, computer was down....excuse, excuse. No apologies to the girls they terrified (14 & 15 year olds), whom I had to spend the rest of the night with because they were so scared that they were trembling. I will NEVER EVER stay at Clarion again. Staff was poorly trained - and the whole thing was pathetic.

I SKIMMED THRU ALL CUSTOMER 'E MAILS. So, I am not the only customer with complaints. Corporate Hdqtrs----you need to read these. And do something!!! I stayed at Clarion Hotel on Ouray St. at Denver Airport. It was certainly a 'run down' hotel. The room just felt unclean...a very dirty couch, sheets with many holes, towels that were way beyond usage with frayed ends, etc. Clarion Hdqtrs , as one guest said to me, should be ashamed to put their sign up at this hotel!!!!

  15. Wow, and I thought the complaints would be few!
Guess I was wrong..I know I will not be staying at another clarion hotel in the future, my distaste for them came from the one in Orlando (Kissimee), it advertises a waterpark with the hotel on the web site, but you have to pay separate for it, and don't plan on any parks, because it closes at 6 pm...it is completely separate from the hotel.
    False advertising!
I will be writing a letter to corporate, I know I more than likely won't hear anything back, but at least I get it off my chest..because I am writing the to CEO..Steve Joyce, he was even on Undercover Boss, so he may not know what is going on at the hotels..so write to him personally, start bombarding his mailbox!

  16. My wife and I stayed overnight on Aug. 10th 2012; liked the facilities; when we checked out I discovered that I had left my electric razor in the room; I called the hotel and the manager said he had it on his desk; I requested that he mail it to me at my home and he said he would. I allowed him to charge the postage to my credit card; It is now September 23rd and it has never arrived; I have left 3 messages on his voice mail which he never returned my calls, spoken with a girl on the front desk who said "it is still here and I will take it to the manager". That was over two weeks ago: The razor is worth about $50.00 and will not break me. I consider this issue THEFT and if it was worth my trouble to drive back to Columbus Ohio I would file a theft report.

It is obvious the manager is a thief and a liar. Too bad for the employees and the hotel chain.... I will never stay at any Clarion Hotel again and will advise all people I know of this event.

  17. Wow I can't believe all the bad service that is happening at the Clarion Hotel chain. Our Class Reunion committee booked the ballroom at the Clarion in Hagerstown Maryland for this past weekend over a year ago. We had an uneasy feeling about it the whole year. About two weeks prior to the reunion Dinner Dance the woman in charge told us we could not have the room that we wanted so they wanted us to come look at the other possibilities. One was the Atrium ( by the pool) and the other was a kind of long room that the band could not have gotten into comfortably. We decided that we would do the atrium after making sure that the noise would not bother other people( because there are hotel rooms around the outside of the pool area) So not having too much choice we took the Arium ( there was a clause in the contract stating they can move you to where ever they deem appropriate. Any Way this past weekend was our 30 reunion dinner dance Saturday night October 6. It was a nice space but about 11:00 the manager of this Clarion starts closing the bar and ranting and raving about the we are too noisy !! WE were told that it would be fine to have a band and we paid til 12:00 for both the room and the band !! Absolutely ridiculous to have to change to a different room two weeks before our event in the first place and then they come and want to shut your party down after they told you that having a band was no problem. Never again will I deal with a Clarion hotel ! And after seeing all these letters I think there are plenty of people that will not be staying at one either !!

  18. I am not one to complain but we had the worst experience at the Clarion in Gatlinburg Tennessee. They charged $199 a night for a room which was ridculous! We paid it because it was last minute and we paid extra for a balcony that was on the ground floor! That was no balcony and not to mention it was facing a parking lot! The air didn't work and we didn't realize it till later in the night. I got absolutly NO sleep! Went down to complain about it and got no ''I'm sorry" Nothing! They did fix it so we got sleep the next night. They charged another $30 for some sort of resort fee! We didn't eat the breakfast on either morning! We paid around $480 for two nights! CRAZY I could have stayed at Opry Land Hotel in Nashville for that! This was not even a nice place!!! NEVER, NEVER again!!!!!

  19. Hello my name is Monika Hardee I visited your Merritt Island location here in Florida, and was very disappointed in the misrepresentation of the property. This is by far the WORST hotel I've ever visited.
    1. There was BLOOD stains on the bed
    2. The blankets and sheets where stained as if it was some type of fluids present
    3. The bathroom was moldy the tub had SEVERAL rings of dirt in it,the drain plug was sitting in the soap dish
4.There was different spots in the ceiling that was moldy or where there had been water damage
    5.The walls where filthy
    6. The lock on the door was hanging off
    7.The breezeways where disgusting
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing even halfway decent I can say about your property. It surely is no worth no where near $90 plus tax per night it seems like some kinda crack hotel or prostitution hole. My trip was ruined I miss the casino cruise I came there to visit because I had to find another hotel there was absolutely no WAY I'd allow my kids or myself to sleep there. And I DEFINITELY WOULD never recommend this CHAIN to anyone to even my worst enemy.
I have attached some photos of your property and hopefully it gets the attention it needs!!!!!!!

  20. Sounds like clarion needs some serious work. I stayed at clarion in greely CO. They are the sponsor hotel for the yearly held Old Chicago wrestling tournament at University of nothern colorado. First the rooms were supposed to be $79 and when we tried to book they told us there were no rooms at that price. I think if you sponsor something as large as a wrestling tournament all your regular rooms should be that price. Second we stayed in a room and it smelled like old smoke and mold the elevator didnt work and then my son forgot his wallet there so we get home and call them they say they have it and we ask them to mail it to us because we live 2hr away the manager tells us it will cost $25 dollars to mail it to us so after reluctance we pay it a week later no wallet so when I call back they tell us that someone picked it up for him but cant give us a name they just say his sister so as far as im concerned the clerks or manager or someone stole my sons wallet and to top it off when I am trying to figure out the whole deal the clerk hangs up on me. I will never stay in a clarion again

  22. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, in my entire life. Me and a few friends had booked a hotel in overlandpark KS at the clarion hotel for an anime convention. My friend had reward points so we got the hotel for free and he booked the hotel for four people. We got to the hotel and they had told us only one person was booked and said they were sorry and gave us an extra key for all of us. The next morning we got up to ask the guy at the service desk where breakfast was because the sign said free breakfast weekend. He pointed us to the direction of breakfast not saying a word. We were the first people there, when we got finished we left the plates on the table because there was NO WHERE to put the dirty dishes. The final day, we got up to eat breakfast again, the guy at the front desk told us that we had to pay for breakfast and then proceeded to claim that we broke plates and smashed food into the floor and threw food all over the walls, and then charged us for breakfast through my friends dads credit card. When we decided to leave and started driving and noticed my car drove funny even though we had drove it all day yesterday, assuming that someone had slashed my tire so my boyfriend asked if he could possibly look over the surveillance camera to see if someone had, the guy at the front desk and said in a loud obnoxious tone "You are no longer a guest at this hotel and i'm not going to show you the tapes" my boyfriend asked to see a manager, keeping calm and the front desk guy said "I'm the fucking owner, now get the hell out" None of us appreciated being talked to like that and we will no longer EVER be staying at any Clarion hotels.

  23. Stayed at the Clarion in Gatlingburg TN Was supposed to be booked 2 nights at a group rate for a wedding. On arrival, was informed first night would cost $157.00 total. Bed had wrinkled sheets, black and white grit, black streaks, trash and 3 pieces of cellophane paper plus a quarter size gob of molded chewing gum on the bedspread. Took photos, showed desk clerk. They did change the bedding the NEXT day. Manager offered to give group rate for that night in compensation. The first night should have been FREE. Was told in April when reserving that exercise room was available. IT was closed the whole time I was there, but we were charged $15 a day extra for amenities which was the pool and exercise room. WHAT!! Manager raised voice when discussing issue and I got quieter and quieter because I am unaccustomed to being talked at in that manner. Disappointed in my stay. Belong to the Choice points club too. Clarion was not a good experience in TN.

We were booked at Clarion Tampa, Florida and the place was filthy. Left over Tums on the desk chair,Dust bunnies everywhere,A fake black and silver fingernail on the floor. Someone must have attempted to clean with a dirty cloth as there were dirty cloth marks on the refrig and the headboardand dirty windows let alone pole lamps that were leaning over. The front desk sent someone with a sweeper to clean it,REALLY, they thought we would be staying there. They did give back a minimal refund and we went up the street to a beautiful Wingate. They told us we were the third party that left the Clarion that afternoon. A little more money but hot breakfast included and extremely pleasant staff and CLEAN everything.
NEVER NEVER will we give Clarion a Chance to ruin our time away.
Staff were very not caring and didn't mind that the place was a mess.

  26. March 16, 2013 we reserved 3 queen-size rooms, non-smoking at Murfreesboro, Tn. This is my complaint: 1) It took 35 mins to check-in @ 2:05 am and we were the ONLY ones checking in. 2) 2 of the 3 rooms were double room not queen. 3) My 21 yr old and 4 yrs grandbaby went to our room first, and when he opened the door he saw that there were 2 large men sleeping in the room. (Thank God they were sleeping & not having sex,or/and didn't wake up thinking that they were being rob or something, and attack my son and my grandbaby. 4) My husband and I went to the front desk, who the ONLY employee in the whole hotel, and was no where to be found leaving the room charges (CC #s and personal information) unattended and right on the counter in arms reach. (I think she was outside smoking.) When we told her that there were people in the room she had given us, she said it was the second twice THAT night that she had done that, and that she had NO ideal who was in that room. She blamed it on a new male employee earler in the day. She seemed to have a hard time using a computer. After 20 mins she gave us a room, and said That she couldn't guarantee that there would NOT be someone in that room. 5) In our SMOKING room, the shower door fall off the on me in the shower, plus there was hair in the shower. 6) It take 30 plus mins to check-out, and on our bill was the original room number that all ready had the other people in it (Our room # was not changed in the computer.) 7) My son-in-law had to called your 800 # to get the billing correct (1 free room & 2 paid rooms.) The worst.

  27. We stayed in a clarion suites in Augusta GA and it was terrible! The room was dirty the tub was black dead mosquitos on the walls. I had to lay a towel on the bottom of the tub just to bathe my children! To top matters off when we woke up after a nights stay my kids were bit to shit! I made this matter known to the front desk who had me fill out an accident report and was told the general manager would contact me. NO I HAD TO CONTACT THEM! The general manager told me that Orkin had come out and they didn't have bed bugs. I work for a hotel and I know as a fact that we never tell guests that we have bed bugs but we apologize for the inconvenience comp them a night give them reward points or something to try and rectify the situation. The manager didn't seem to care AT ALL about my problem and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort. I WILL NEVER STAY WITH CLARION AGAIN!

  28. This hotel chain has terrible customer service. I stayed at the Clarion on Burnett Street in Concord, CA this weekend and today I found out they charged by bank card $200.00 without my knowledge or authorization. This was after I had already prepaid for the room. Now my bank account is negative and they are tell me it will take a week to credit my card. The manager refuses to speak to me. What kind of manager refused to speak to a customer. I will never stay at any of their hotels again. I tried to look up the corporate headquarters to complain about this manager and they don't have a contact system for customers.

  29. I stayed at the Clarion in Cookeville TN. My room had fleas. I brought some captured fleas in a water glass to the front desk. The manager was so rude. I own a business and if I ran mine like he does his I wouldn't have one. Trash was left outside our rooms for two days. They had an excuse for every thing. I had a 2 day drive home and scratched every bit of the way. I will never stay at a Clarion again!

  32. We stayed at the Clarion Hotel South bay at National City, CA. It's a hot summer night in August in San diego. The Air conditioner doesn't work in my room, so I called the front desk hoping someone could come up and take care of the AC while we are out for our dinner because they won't switch us to another room. When we came back to the room, nobody actually fixed the AC, beside, our TV remote doesn't work and we also can't open the window. I was really disappointed at this moment and called the front desk again, it took them 30 minutes to send us a guy and the room's keep heating up. A while later when the guy came into the room, he said, oh! it's 609! That reminds me that there must be something wrong with this room before we came here and that guy couldn't actually fix the problem. This time I had to go down to the front desk and find a manager or someone powerful to complain about what's going on, but that lady had her name tagged manager of corporation was not polite at all and was not willing to switch us to another room, which I still don't know why!!!! This is my worst hotel experience, and I definitely not going to stay at any of this Clarion hotel again! I will give them 1 in a scale of 1 to 10, or 0 if it's even possible!!!!!

I have left messages and sent an email but I have to get any type of reply. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!

  36. We had a reservation at the Clarion in Terre Haute Indiana for 3 nights beginning 11/21/13. There was a woman and man behind the counter. We received key cards for the room, and went back to our car to get our luggage and go up to our room. Upon arriving in the room, which was fairly clean but very old and run down looking, we tried to turn on the heat, as temps were to go down into the 30s that evening. No heat. We tried every setting, and the machine only blew out cold air. We called the front desk, and the young man answered. We told him our problem, and he said they had no maintenance staff in the building - that he would get us keys for another room. As he is saying this, the woman started yelling at him demanding to know why he was changing our room. I could hear him saying "They have no HEAT - I HAVE to give them another room." I asked him to call us back when they worked it out (she was yelling at him) and he said he would. In a few minutes he was at the door with new key cards for a room one flight up in the same section of the hotel. We moved upstairs, and attempted to unlock the door, but the keys did not work. I returned to the front desk and told the young man that the keys didn't work. He said that was no problem - he would rekey them, which he did. I returned to the room where my husband was waiting with the bags, and tried the keys again. Still would not unlock the door.
By this time we had had enough. We returned to the counter and asked for a refund. At this time, the young man was gone and only the lady - no, the WOMAN was there (she was definitely no "lady"). She began to yell at me, saying the young man was "autistic" and that he had been so upset by my coming down to get new keys, that he started crying and she sent him home. She said, "you take his number and call him to apologize." I said I would not as I had done nothing to upset him. At that point she started yelling at me again, saying she had never met anyone as rude as I, and that she would pray for us and she hoped we "meet Jesus." (My husband and I are very devout Christians.) She started cussing at me, using the "f" word, which neither my husband or I ever use. She handed me a piece of paper, saying it was our refund. Nowhere on the paper was a refund. I asked her to show me where the credit was. She said, "it's on there - the number in parentheses is your credit." There was no number in parentheses on the paper she handed me. I handed her the paper and said, "show me." She looked at the paper and said, " you have me so flustered I printed out the wrong page." She stormed out and was gone for about 5 minutes. When she returned, she handed the paper to my husband, saying, "I don't know HOW you can stand to be married to her. She told me to 'f" off!" At this point I couldn't stand it any longer. I told her she was lying, as I never use that word, ever. She told us to get out of the hotel before she called the police on us. We left quite willingly - to date, our credit has not shown up on our account. We do have a receipt saying we received a credit (unless she cancelled it after we left). She ended by saying we "will never find another place to stay." (We went across the parking lot to the Days Inn, got right in, the room was older, but clean, and we paid half as much.)
That evening, I kept receiving "blocked" telephone calls on my cell phone. They kept up all night and into the morning - the length of her shift. I can't prove harassment. but we know she was the caller. We don't have any idea what this woman's problem was, but from reading the other reviews, it's apparent that Clarion must include cursing at customers in their training manual. Needless to say we will never stay in another Clarion - ever, and if we don't get our refund, we will take the matter directly to corporate.

  37. Well to begin we stood with Clarion closed to CAE Airport cause it had a shuttle, and was somewhat closed to fort jackson south carolina, we stood 5 days first night they put us in a room facing a waste company that made noise early in the morning, front desk was nice to move us to another room. The first room smell bad and the heater was dusty and dirty carpet looked dirty as well. Second room was far more better, but lack maintenance it had screws loose towel rack almost coming off, computers not working in their office key board was sticking like someone drop soda on it. Staff was pleasant and helpful and did go out of their way to help in anyway they could. This Hotel would be great if they just kept up their maintenance on their rooms, be more detail on every little thing in the rooms. Breakfast ok for continental, one of the staff was alittle rude by telling my husband only take what you need, and that was just creamer for this coffee. vending machine was not working. If you want to keep customers happy give the very best in the rooms they stay in. Have a person do a walk thru for each room before a customer comes in. I'm sure this hotel will improve

All we had to do was make beds and empty trash cans. Im on the road alot in a new town and hotel every week, I have been in over 1000 hotels within the past 8 years and this is the worlds worst hotel. Way over priced, smells, vary out dated, bed bugs, walls staind. The people are ghetto. I picked this hotel and per paid thinking it looked good online and no possible way it would be this bad. But i was way wrong. This hotel needs to be shut down and burned to the ground. They want 150 plus dollars for there suite, there tv's are older then i am. I will never stay at this place again, cant wait for this week to be over so i can stay at a place half way decent. They should be paying me to be here and having to put up with this b.s.

  43. We reserved two rooms at the Clarion Inn-Waco for Saturday, May 3rd weeks before the check-in date. I even contacted the inn the day before to confirm the reservation; a one-bedroom suite and a standard room. When we arrived, one hour early, we were told to come back at three, so we went to eat and returned @ 3:15 pm. We checked in, and the clerk gave us the keys; at that time, we asked which was the key to the suite. She said that neither were. We told her that we had confirmation for one room and one suite, and she said that she noticed that we were charged the suite price for one room-(but failed to tell us), and that someone must have changed it. We then informed her that we still wanted the suite, and she told us that she couldn't guarantee that the room would be cleaned that day. We asked her to talk to housekeeping, and she said that was a totally different department and that they didn't communicate with each other. She finally called them, at our insistence, and said that the head maintenance lady said she basically didn't care. I asked to talk to her, and she said that she'd see what she could do. We asked if we could get a discount, and the desk clerk said that she could only do a senior citizen's discount which wouldn't amount to much. We sat in the lobby waiting, and even called a couple other hotels, but at this late notice, we were having trouble getting what we needed. Then, at 3:59 pm, she asked us if we were going to stay, because at 4:00 they were charging us for the rooms. Finally, we asked to talk to housekeeping again, and the clerk said she was tired of dealing with it, so she would just give us 50% off. We went ahead and stayed because we had to get ready for the event we were visiting Waco for. She said it a second time, and not ONCE did she ever apologize or state that she was sorry that we were inconvenienced. Now, that doesn't end the story. We stayed in rooms 159 and 167. In 167, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and the plastic curtain over the window had so many holes in it that it looked like lace when the sun was beaming. The phones in both rooms didn't work, and room 159 didn't have ONE plug that worked either. The carpeting was soiled, and my daughter swears that she had a bedbug in her car, and even looked it up on the Internet, confirming this. This is a warning for ANYONE that even thinks about staying here. I have traveled extensively and NEVER had this happen before. I am not that particular, except I expect respect and cleanliness, and found neither at the Clarion Inn-Waco.

  44. On May 30-31, 2014 My husband and I staied at the Clarion in NC by Carowinds. The service was great the very first day of check in and also on our second day. The thrid day we were both awawaken by water pouring out of the ceiling like rain. We were on the 9th floor, so the water had to be coming from above our room. I called downstairs to the front desk and told the manager that water from pouring from the ceiling at 7:32am. None came, but when my husband and I decided to say the hell with it and just check out early because of the water, we go downstairs to the front desk that's when the manager wants to run pass us and go upstairs to the floor above us to see what was going on, all this at 8:08am. Now when we called the first time that's when her or someone should've came up. Finding out the person in the room above has passed away according to the manager. In all she felt like she was to shaking up to give us our money back for one night for our things getting wet, even my cell phone. I am so sorry for whoever has passed away, hopefully they are in Heaven, but we have to still do others here on earth fair.

  45. My family is currently staying at the Calarion Inn & Suites in Monroe, LA. I am very disappointed in the accommodations. The ceiling texture is peeling off, the toilet seat finish is peeling off. The sink looks like someone burnt it several times. The box springs have stains on it that look like it was recovered from a flood. Of the 3 ice machines only one works and yes.....it's out of ice. The breakfast was good but good luck at finding any food available...apparently they don't have enough kitchen help to supply enough for the number of guests they have. The second day they rectified this by saying only 2 per room were allowed breakfast any more had to pay ten dollars. The internet...WHAT internet, you were lucky if a page loaded, the speed was worse than when I finally used my cell phone as a hotspot. You were booted off the internet every 5 minutes. The internet nodes were store bought cheap wireless devices stuck to the hallway walls, not professional at all. The pool was GREEN, my hometown public pool is more clear than this one, looks as if algae is growing in it. I will not be staying at a Clarion hotel again.

  46. Clarion is pitiful. I don't know how this operation continues. From the mother of a 20 year old daughter who drove an hour to the Lexington KY Clarion for a conference only to be told her room would be cancelled because she is not 21 years of age, a policy they omitted when taking her credit card for the reservation.

  47. Choice Hotels is worse. Due to some incident, they won't even answer the phone at their corporate office. What a joke.

  48. Due to the BAD REVIEWS OF CLARION HOTELS, maybe it was better my daughter did not get her room. But now she is driving an hour back home because the management won't let her have her booked, reserved-by-credit-card room because she is not 21 years old, the policy they don't care about when they have an open room, but will use against someone when they can get more money from someone else and/or have already given the room away.

I then had officer Nash comes up to my room to look at the damages so I had a witness. You know the hotel is SHIT when you have to have an officer come up to look at your room. The next morning I talk to the manger Kenny. He was a very nice man and said he would refund us the room for all our troubles. 4 hours later we get charged for the room in full.... I call them again and they feed me some more bullshit. PLEASE TO ANYONE READING THIS DONT STAY AT A CLARION. It’s only a matter of time until this place goes out of business.

  52. Regarding the "Inn" located in Brunswick, Ga - I travel north and south along I-95 thru Brunswick about twice a week or week and a half. There is a flag pole by the
interstate next to the Clarion Inn sign. The US flag on this pole has all but rotted off and now hangs as a ragged, insignificant decoration. Not at all, the proud symbol of our country. I have contacted the desk at the "Inn" on three occasions - the first time a young man literally laughed the entire time I was speaking describing the condition if the flag, the second time I was referred to as buddy as the clerk attempted to get me off the phone and the third time the clerk stated to me there was nothing she
could do. Then who can, if not the desk clerk?? Wouldn't the desk clerk get the ball rolling on some deficiency at the hotel?? There was at one time a light shining on the flag after sunset - its disheartening to me that the staff of the hotel would let something like a simple flag fall to such disrepair. Wonder what else is falling apart there. I would personally sleep in my car rather than stay there. I'll watch for any improvement which I will be surprised to see.

  53. ATTN: CHOICE HOTELS
RE: MAJOR COMPLAINT FROM RECENT STAY AT CLARION WEST SPRINGFIELD

I have gone to the Clarion Hotel in West Springfield with my children for a few years. I went to college in Springfield. The hotel has been completed renovated now. This recent stay was awful, embarassing and quite honestly, a disgrace to hospitality.. I have a rotten taste in my mouth from the weekend. This is a very difficult letter to write but things were so unacceptable, i need to. I will break it up into 3 sections.
Financial- I stayed 2 nights at $140 a night. The total was 301 as they take a $20 deposit upon check in. When I checked in Friday, my card was authorized for the full amount and was on my Santender online pending charges so the money was out of my account on Friday. On Saturday morning, I bought 6 flag tickets for $108 from the desk and an additional $301was charged to me in addition to the tickets! I showed the front desk manager my online banking thru my phone with the additional charge (I believe her name was Iris) and instead of taking responsibility, she said to call Santender and figure it out because it was not her problem because she did not show the 2nd $301 charge on her end! I had my banking info online in real time and showed her and she still denied it and was being extremely rude. All this was done in front of my kids. I called Santender and (Iris) proceeded to argue with the Santender rep saying she did not charge me twice and then Santender Supervisor got on the phone and was explaining to her that there was a 2nd charge. It was a mess. Finally after about 15 minutes of this lady arguing with the bank, she released the hold. Once the money was returned to my account, the front desk supervisor (Iris), told me I want MY money now and wanted cash. It was unacceptable to treat me this way in front of my kids when this was clearly her fault. Mistakes get made, but the Customr Service was horrific and uinacceptable.
Waterpark--When my kids and I went to see the new waterpark, we were looking thru the window onto the waterpark. . One of the teenage lifeguards approached me and asked me what i was doing. I said I just arrived with my kids and we were looking at the park because it was brand new and we had been previous guests. He looked at us as if we were criminals. He said we need $10 per person to come in and it had to be cash and would not let me look around without the cash. This was terrible. My kids were horrified and I was too. One lifeguard was guarding the locker room and one was guarding the gate. What is this? I asked if i could look around as I have stayed here multiple times, and he said I couldn’t even go in the gate without giving him $10 entrance fee. Needless to say, my kids were uncomfortable and did not go into the park all weekend. The fact that a teenage lifeguard is acting as a security guard is offensive as opposed to watching the kids in the pool. This is supposed to be an amenity.
Room--The room lamps had a inch of dust on it and 2 outlets were not working and the bedspread was dirty
This really was a horrendous experience and I do not appreciate a grossly lack of customer service in front of my kids in 2 crappy situations. I will not be treated like this, especially myself being in the business as a Customer Service Manager. I am just disgusted with the weekend and would not come back to this place the way it is being run currently.
I want my credit card immediately refunded for the 2 nights with a response from corporate. If this is not rectified within 48 hours with no action, I will be going to the Better Business Bureau and the Massachusetts Attorney General. I will not be treated like this under any circumstance.
