  1. I have been waiting from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 10, 2012 (Saturday) for my Prism to be installed. I called after 4:00 p.m. to find out why no one from Century link showed up or gave me a courtesy phone call. I called the Technical Support and the lady was laughing and saying I am sorry but their was a pending on your account due to construction. Still I waited for them to come and no one calls me !! I scheduled this since Monday and no one calls me to tell me this. So the lady tells me to wait again until Monday to talk to customer service. This is BS. I am sooo not liking this. I call again to speak to an technical support to get the Corporations phone number so the lady who didn't understand english refused to give me the number. Instead she thought that she was slick and gave me a las vegas, nv retail number. I asked her 3 times is this the corporations number and not a store number and she said YES.

    1. This company sucks. They came to my house and sold me the service, put a hold on my current server and when tech arrived I was informed that their system is not able to reach my home. now having problems with current provider. I also talked with a neighbor and was informed the same thing happened to him a month ago. Tell me why they are still trying to sell service in an area for which they are unable. I will never do business with centurylink ever.

    2. CenturyLink seriuosly needs to STOP doing business! I called to set up internet on a Friday and they gave me problems because the call was disconnected after I gave my credit card information and no one called me back to complete my order. I called back and NOBODY could find me in the system (so they claimed) and when they finally did find me they said they couldnt complete my transaction without double charging my credit card! Then on Monday the technician claimed he came out and hooked up service but there was no internet so I called to see what happened and they said they made a mistake and only set up 1.5 speed for the internet instead of 1.7. So Wednesday the technician came back out and he called me himself and said to call and cancel my account because their system is not able to reach my apartments. AND he said its been an ongoing problem with my apartment complex SOOO WHY on earth would you try to sell me service when you know you cannot sell service in my area!!!! I tried to get my deposit back but they applied it to my "first month of service", and I didnt even have service with Centurylink! I want my money refunded now! and I am so close to telling AZCentral about this to warn people that Centurylink is a scam!! Shame on Centurylink! I called Cox right after I called to cancel my account with Centurylink and they (Cox)set up service like a piece of cake, and Ive been loving my internet service with Cox. I hope Centurylink goes out of business.

    3. Centurylink seriously needs to go out of business! I called Friday to set up service and after I gave my credit card information to the rep the call was disconnected. She never called back (which defeats the purpose of them asking for your phone number just in case the call is disconnected, go figure) and so I had to call back and NOBODY could find me in the system (so they claim) and when they finally find me they said they couldn't complete my transaction without double charging my credit card! What a messed up system they have! Then on Monday the technician claimed he came out and set up internet service but I didn't have internet so I called to see what happened and they said they made a mistake and set me up with 1.5 speed of internet instead of 1.7 speed so they have to send the technician out again. Which doesn't make any sense because the technician came back out on Wednesday and he called me himself and told me to cancel my account due to the fact that Centurylink's service cannot reach my apartments, and he said its been an ongoing problem with my apartment complex, SO WHY on earth would you try to sell me service when you know your internet cannot reach my home??!!!!!! I haven't even gotten my deposit back because they applied my deposit to "my first month bill" when they didnt even give me any services! I want my refund and if I don't get it soon I WILL contact AZCentral news and tell them this story so that other people can be warned that Centurylink IS in fact a SCAM!! So i called Cox on Thursday and they set up service at my apartments like it was a piece of cake! I've been loving my service with Cox and they are professional and they know how to run a business. Centurylink need to go somewhere with their scamming business and just go out of business!

    5. I'm in a very rural area of Montana. Even Hughs Net does not provide service to my area... yet. After 13 months of "service" with CenturyLink, where I have had to call them 8 out of those 13 months to correct billing issues... I would rather do without internet service than have internet through CenturyLink.

      Delete
    6. Same with us. I had internet service for about 3 months, we moved they never shut the services off and they say I owe $900 for three months of service. Customer service is a joke, Century Link is a joke. I will never, ever, ever use them again even of they are the only option for services I will go without. I also filed a complaint with Washington State Attorney Generals Office today. I hope they can help. If not I guess I will have to get a lawyer. Good luck all

    7. I BEEN CALLING CENTURY LINK BILLING DEPARTMENT ABOUT A BILL THAT I DO NOT THINK IS MINE(two weeks)AFTER BEING TRANSFER FIVE TIMES YESTERDAY AND THE FIFTH PERSON CHECKING WITH HIS SUPERVISOR, ATER WAITING , I WAS TOLD BY THIS PERSON THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE ACCOUNT NUMBER. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE I FOUNDED OUT THAT QWEST MERGE WITH CENTURYLINK IN 2011, AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME THIS INFORMATION. TO THINK I WAS THINKING OF TRANSFERING TO CENTURY LINK FOR MY CABLE/INTERNET SERVICE. WOW!!!!!! WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN? THANKS EVERYONE.

    8. I have been a customer of Centurylink (and before with Qwest) for a total of 26 years. Three years ago I began tio have problems with my DSL not working. On 2 occasions a technician has had to come out and fix the problem, which was related to their DSL lines outside of my home. (no charge to me). The last time I had to wait 5 days and had no internet during that time. That was about 2 months ago. Yesterday again, I did not have internet. I called and have to wait until Saturday for a technician to come out and repair it. I have decided to change my internet service to Comcast/Xfinity, which will be less effective and faster in speed.

      Delete
    9. Typo...Xfinity will be less EXPENSIVE and faster in speed!

  2. well i am moving all of 20 miles and pay $26 a month for 7mbps and now that I am moving they want to give me 1.5mbps for $40. This sounds like a bunch a bs to me. They say my promotional rate is void because I have to switch to a slower rate. I thought century link would be better than Time Warner but I'm thinking they are all crooks.

  3. My internet has been droping and randomly connecting internet for the last month and a half. Everytime i call they say there is nothing wrong with it. Then wanna charge me 80.0 to come look at their shitty service. They always seem to give me a bull crap answer just to get me off the phone and anytime I ask for corparte number they refuse to give it to me. This company sucks and i would not recomend it to anybody ever in my life.

  4. Centurylink is starting to suck. We've done business with them for years. Today, I'm thinking of listening to my husband and taking our business elsewhere. We made a payment on our account and they wont turn our service on the payment center said the payment went through they are just waiting on centurystink ha! to accept it. then they will restore our service. I have called so many people about this and the last woman (Deborah) hung up on me. Yea like that's how you do good business.

  5. Century link is the worst internet provider and i am in an apartment, this is the only service available to us. I have had problems for the last 2 months ever since they have installed with us. I call tech support numerous of times and they have yet to solve the problem. I cancelled with them and I'd rather due without internet them deal with century link service ever again.

  6. arizona residents, don't bundle your direct tv with century link. when you are unable to have one, they don't stop the bundle. they just keep charging. when you make a move and direct tv can't place their satilite. so then century expects all their pay. and they think you should continue with them. i had a month and half left. beware, they are scammers!!
they will mess up your crdit, charge you late fees. as a state emplyee, i will tell all my co-workers!

    1. I've been trying to cancel my account for months! They wont cancel it! Nobody ever shows that I called in trying to cancel, even though they give me confirmation codes. I've been with them for a while, and dont want their service, but they wont cancel my service! I'm calling the attorney generals office. What a joke. Always trying to transfer me to another department, and the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. Nobody is on the same page. Its very very unprofessional. I advise to stay far far away from this company if you are thinking of starting a new service with this nightmare of a company!

  8. This company is the worst company ever, they are a bunch of lairs and thieves. Sales representatives will tell you anything to sing up with them. Once that happens they treat you like shit and raise the price on you. I even called the head quarters and David Smith from executive office was a total jerk and did nothing to resolve the problem. I am sorry and regret I ever changed my services to centurylink. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GET SERVICES FROM HERE. THEY WILL SCREW YOU.

  10. I have had the worst nightmare with century link. I just incurred 173 dollars overage on my phone account all do to cent. Link techs spending over 7 hours on the phone guiding me through what they said was my computers problem only to find out it was the modem theyinstalled. They refused to let the local tech come to the house e en though he said he knew what was wrong. Oh and yes 3 months payed for with no service, double billings for services I didn't even have and converting my verizon bill to century link even though I told them NO. These people need to be taken to court and I may be the one to do so. I haqve a serious heart issue and am to avoid stress. They changed my land line number which is connected to my heart monitor with out my permission and having been told why the number must remain the same. The heart clinic called to let me know the monitor wasn't able to access the information from my defibulator. It took century link over 1 week to correct and then continued to double bill me for 2 seperate phone numbers and 2 seperate internets OMG they are a mess

  11. This company is the most incompetent, apathetic outfit I've ever had misfortune to deal with. Their call centers are staffed with nitwits who don't have a clue about their services, they have no concept of customer service and they could care less about your needs or problems. They bought out Qwest a while ago and now are rock bottom on service. I call about a problem (several times) and have to repeat my info, number and problem at least four times before being transferred to someone who doesn't have enough technical knowledge to open a door. Do yourself a favor: Don't even try to do business with them unless you enjoy stupid people and foul treatment. In short: They SUCK HUGE!!! By the way, I pay my bills on time and I'm not posting this because they cut me off for nonpayment

  12. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Century Link came to my house in 2011 and sold me on cable and internet. It took 2 hours to sign me up because the guy was waiting for customer service to speak with me. On my scheduled install date, they called me and told me they weren't able to connect me because my house wasn't wired properly for their service. Last week, a new person came and attempted to sell me the service. I told him about experience in 2011 and he told me they have hooked up my whole neighborhood. So....I signed up, which took almost 2 hours again. Well, guess what. Customer service called this morning and told me my house wasn't wired for their service.
I explained to her the salesmen told me it was. "Sorry". I told her they have taken 4 hours of my valuable time and I walk away with nothing. "Sorry". I asker her if I could get the gift card they offer for signing up since I have attempted to become a customer on 2 occassions and since you wasted 4 hours of my time....just as a courtesy or an apology for wasting my time. "We don't offer anything to non customers". WOW!!!

  13. Centurylink is a rip off!!! When I set up bundle service in 2011, the customer service agent pressured me into a free trial, which I called and cancelled. Soon, I was getting bigger and bigger bills, the amt I was supposed to be charged on the bundle increased before it was supposed to, and I couldn't keep up although I was paying large amounts. They shut off my service and then I started going through my bills and found they had overcharged me over $400 in about a 4 month period. They admitted I needed a refund, but wanted me to pay $200 more to get the service restored first or they couldn't give me my refund. They are still sending me collection notices, have not refunded me anything, AND, they completely ignored a letter I sent them in January disputing the bill and asking for my refund. If you are older, sort of blind, and easily confused by complicated monthly statements, CenturyLink is looking for you to rip you off.

  14. We all ought to do a class-action suit against CenturyLink!!!!!!!! Someone young and energetic start it and us old folks will support it and join in. I'll be looking for it advertised on TV. CenturyLink sells the service for people to see such ads, if someone would step up to the plate and get a lawsuit going....what a slap in the face to CenturyLink, seeing the ads for a class-action lawsuit against them!! Haha

  17. I am a Centurylink employee in Colorado. I have spent 1 hour on the phone and Centurylink internet site trying to ask questions about my home billing. The service has been horrible. The employees have been nice enough, but the system is inept. I work with customers daily and most of these complaints are what I hear constantly. I hate calling the business ofc. to change something because i know I'll have to call repeatedly to get it corrected. Centurylink is just another large corporation that just cares what goes into CEO's pockets. I'm on the customers side..I'll side with them 99% of the time. I know what it feels like!! Not good!! If I go to someone's house I'll waive the 80.00 fee because most have horror stories and the service they have received is subpar. Sorry I have to remain anonymous. It's not always the employees fault but the system..and how they push sales above quality and training. Think its bad now? They are offshoring american jobs. Try to get something straight with the same system and now add a language barrier. How sad

  18. I too am just about tired of Centurylink. I have had horrible internet service for almost 6 months now, line dropping every 5 minutes sometimes for weeks. I call tech support, they go through the exact same routine every time, and completely ignore what I ask or say. One lady kept telling me that she could hook me up temporarily with MSDN and I KEPT telling her I could not use a dial up connection. It's like I was talking to the wall. I REALLY wish there was another internet provider in my area, I have just about had it with them. And their customer support department "reminded" me that I didn't pay that much monthly so basically I guess I should not be upset because I didn't have service. Well...that is REALLY NOT customer service. I agree, I really wish there was something that could be done about them

I held for 15 minutes to get someone to help with my account and no one ever answered, BUT in the mean time, you listen to all the wonderful things Century can do for you on your phone, ect. WHY would I get anything more from them, when they can not handle what they have?
They bit off more than they can chew when they took over Quest.

  22. I went to this site to obtain the name of the president of CenturyLink and read most of the comments let by others. This is incredible to believe any business with this kind of customer service can stay in business. They were unable to get my order corrected after making numerous calls and placed on hold for an average of 10 minutes each time or disconnected. I kept tract of names, times and promises in order to write top mgmt. of some obvious shortcomings in their customer service system. From all of the above comments, it appears upper mgmt. is not interested. But I'm going to write them anyway. Needless to say, I won't become one of their customers.

  27. Century Link sent out a brochure in April 2012 announcing for 12 months the 1.5 internet would cost $9.95 a month (with 12 month contract) also stated the modem was free of charge for the 12 months. It also stated after the 12 months the modem fee would return, but the internet would cost $14.95 a month for 48 months. I have yet to receive a correct bill and had to call and fight to get corrected monthly and then they still had it wrong. I am taking copies of all my bills and receipts and sending them to the 'Data Specialist' hoping it can be corrected finally if not my attorney loves big companies with 'FALSE ADVERTISING'. 29. I can tell you all kinds of stories about how horrible Century Link is, including one that happened today where they lied to me and said the person that gave me the offer was wrong and they wouldn't honor it. But here is my favorite story....

Back when it was Qwest I had phone, internet, and Directv bundled....this was 6 years ago. Then I moved to another state and the area I moved to didn't have Qwest or Directv so I called and cancelled my service, and Qwest transferred me to Directv to cancell. A few months after we moved I realized that I was still being billed (thought it was a mistake the first time I got a bill). I called them and had to send them proof that I was living somewhere else and when all my new service started so that they (Qwest, billing for Directv) would take the charges off. After that I never heard from them again....until 9 months ago (4 years after I took care of it). They didn't contact me, THEY TURNED IT OVER TO A CREDIT COLLECTOR AND PUT IT ON MY CREDIT REPORT!!! It was for $122.20 that I don't owe! AND....IT DROPPED MY CREDIT SCORE FROM UP IN THE 800'S TO DOWN INTO THE 600'S!!! I discovered it when my identity theft service notified me...I never got a call from the collection agency. I have been trying to clear this up for the past 9 months with no luck. Century Link has no proof to show it's mine other than my name on it (yes, I asked for proof but they claim the destroy it after 3 years....convenient that they waited that long). I contacted Directv's corporate office and they said I have NEVER owed them $122.20. I asked Century Link about it and they said "They aren't showing it because we paid it and it's not going to go away until either you pay or Directv pays it". I called Directv back and they said "If Century Link had paid it and you didn't pay Century Link then Century Link would have back charged us and we would have it in our records". Directv even said that since my name is so common they might have me mixed up with someone else....but Century Link (with no records or proof) said no it is me.

It would have been nice if they would have contacted me before putting it on my credit report and ruining my credit...especially since I don't owe it.

As for service....I pay for internet service that I really can't get where I live because I live a mile to far out. But knowing that and after explaining that, they won't do anything about it. Their customer service stinks too. I can't wait to change companies and I hope someone puts them out of business.

  30. My uncle is 80 years old and suffers from partial dementia he moved to a assistant living place from San Marcus which was just a retirement living apartment. we called Century Link to cancel Services they took down his Information and said the Computers were down The explain they would call back with Cancellation confirmation. He moved from San Marcus in August 1, 2012 they billed him all the way to December 2012. Century link services not available in Houston so he had to get Xfinity.

He Called back in December about the bill and not remembering that we called in late July told them he did not call.
This was a huge mistake Customer service was a nightmare they explained not corporate office phone# and refused to adjust. We are contacting BBB and may pursue legal action.

We had people in Escalations laughing at us on the phone being very condescending saying this is the highest your gonna get corporate office does not have a # haha they only respond only what we we send them they will not talk to you only us! he Is being billed over $300.00 dollars. They are over billed an 80 year old man this will not be taken lightly the media will be contated and Emily Akins Tv consumer Reported Century link will be EXPOSED for dirty practices!

  33. Here is a major part of the problem people, Qwest - now Century Link decided to do away with the customer sales & service phone consultant position that was paid a good living wage and replace it with a position they were paying barely over minimum wage plus incentives. They forced out most of the people with the old title and Century Link has outsourced technical support overseas which wasn't done under Qwest for most of the time at least. Now you have people assisting you that don't have a clue what they are doing technically and Century Link just wants to see sales so they aren't too concerned with customer satisfaction anymore. To be fair a major portion of their original business has dissipated (home phone land lines) so that has forced major changes in how they do business but they were very slow to adequately react to the changing market so they are as much to blame for their situation as the changing market is to blame.

EVER MONTH I MUST CALL THEM AND ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE ISSUES OF FALSE BILLING.. THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE ISSUES WITH CENTURY LINK KNOW FIRST HAND THE TIME SPENT ON THE PHONE..I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ALWAYS SAY THIS IS BEING RECORDED FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE BUT NO QUALITY EVER COMES OUT OF IT... THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE IS THIS: I WAS TOLD WHEN I SIGNED UP FOR THIS SERVICE THAT I WOULD BE GETTING A $100.00 GIFT CARD... WHEN MY SERVICE WAS CONNECTED I WENT ON LINE AND APPLIED FOR THE GIFT CARD, AS I WAS INSTRUCTED.. I RECEIVED A CONFORMATION E-MAIL THAT THIS PORTION WAS CONFIRMED. I THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER E-MAIL FROM CENTURY LINK SAYING THAT I WOULD RECEIVE THE GIFT ON OR AROUND FEBRUARY 13, 2013.. I HAVE MADE COUNTLESS CALLS REGARDING THE GIFT CARD AND GET DIFFERENT STORIES EACH AND EVERY TIME DEPENDING ON WHO I TALK WITH.. THEY ALL TELL ME THAT I WILL RECEIVE THE GIFT CARD BETWEEN 8 AND 12 WEEKS AFTER THE START OF MY SERVICE....H E L L O,,, TODAY IS THE 26TH OF FEBRUARY, THE 12 WEEKS ARE UP.... CAN ANYONE HELP ME...

  39. IM IN AGREEMENT WITH EVERYONE HERE, CENTURYLINK HAS NO BUSINESS BEING IN BUSINESS. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS, AND THEIR SO CALLED MANAGERS HAVE SHIT FOR BRAINS AS WELL. MY SERVICE WAS INTERRUPTED BECAUSE CENTURYLINK FORGOT TO NOTE MY ACCOUNT WHEN THEY RECEIVED A MODEM I RETURNED, SENT ME PAST DUE BILL FOR $110, AND MY SERVICE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF TWICE NOW IN THE PAST 30 DAYS. YESTERDAY I SPOKE WITH ANOTHER IDIOT MANAGER WHO ASSURED ME HE WOULD BABYSIT MY ACCOUNT AND MAKE SURE THE SERVICE CAME BACK ON WITHIN 30 MINUTES, YEAH RIGHT, AND FOUR HOURS LATER MY INTERNET CAME BACK ON, BUT IM STILL SITTING HERE WITHOUT MY DIRECTV SERVICE ON AND I AM PISSED. I AM READY TO TAKE THIS MATTER TO THEIR CORP. OFFICE, BUT AFTER HEARING WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID ABOUT THEIR DEALINGS WITH CORP. I THINK I WILL JUST TAKE THIS THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AND BBB, AND WHOEVER ELSE I CAN, INCLUDING CHANNEL 3 NEWS, I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS CROOKED COMPANY, THEY WILL SCREW YOU FOR SURE!!

  40. I spent a lot of time typing one of your forms for service problems. Gave detail of history of internet issues with reference to many service calls that cannot fix the problem. What do I get back from this incompetent company, why a email stating they could not take my detailed information and do anything with it even with the phone history. Hard to figure out if they lack the competence to fix the issues or just don't give a crap about customers. Looking at the complaints I'm not alone.

  41. It has now been 40 hrs without internet service, after the first call to tech support I was told th as t within 2 to 3 hrs my internet would be back up, then I was told after the third call that it would be up within 24 hrs, now after the fourth call I am being told they don't know when it will be up. I am now regretting my switch in internet service provider. The sad part of this story is I have only been a customer of yours for three weeks.

  46. June 19, 2013: I paid my deposit to initiate service. Was told that a modem/router would be sent and should arrive in three days.

    June 24, 2013: No modem/router arrived.

June 25, 2013: Call during business hours. Staff seemed unorganized. UPS tracking number was not with my file and had to be found. I was then given routing number and UPS number. When I called, I was told the driver had no apartment number.

June 26, 2013: I was promised hook-up to internet for Wednesday, June 26. I received a voice mail in the evening that the technician did not have an apartment number. At this point I am puzzled because when I actually spoke to someone on June 19 they asked three times for my apartment number. What happened? Also, why not make a courtesy call the day before start of service to verify info?

June 27, 2013: Call customer service to give apartment number. Told service would be connected June 28. I asked why I had to wait and was told it had to be scheduled.

June 28, 2013: STILL no internet service.

June 29, 2013: I call customer service again. In a two hour call I got the following:
--Scheduled to be installed on June 29
--Ten minutes later the same lady says the connection is for July 1, 2013. I asked why I had to wait till Monday if I was scheduled for start of service Saturday? I was told my account was on hold. Really? So I have to wait because some idiotic employee botched things?
--I eventually spoke with two levels of supervisors. I was told techs would only be doing repairs and no installs on Saturday. I was also told supervisors were out, but then they magically appeared in the office (or are there so many supervisors that no one knows the line of command?). The supervisors did not know who the president of the company is. They suggested I look on your web site, which I had to remind them, "Hello! You haven't turned my service on yet! How can I get to your web site?" Finally a supervisor assured me he would get right on my case on Monday when he gets in (which is noon, he said). As I write this, it is 2:08pm on Monday, July 1, 2013, and my fiance has texted me that no one has yet appeared from CenturyLink. Also, I was promised by the last supervisor that he would look into who was president and get back to me Saturday. He never got back to me.

There is a lack of empathy for customers, process flaws, and a lack of courtesy. I got many half-truths and contradictory statements in the two weeks I have attempted to do business with this company. I sent a letter to the president but he probably won't care. He's probably cashing out his stock options.

  47. I am floored that so many people have had such sub-par service, and nothing seems to be getting done about it.

I too am a Centurylink customer and have had nothing but bad experiences with them.

My boss also is having a nightmarish experience with them in terms of hooking up service here in the office - they were supposed to turn a phone line on here, they turned it on at the wrong address and strung her along for almost two weeks since this was supposed to come to pass here in the office; and then cut lines for service at her house out of nowhere because she called and complained about the service not being hooked up when and where it needed to be. Their customer service is rude, annoying, and cannot seem to get it together.

As for experiences I have had, I have had more days without internet than with it. My service constantly goes down, takes days and sometimes weeks to come back on, and frankly, calling to get a tech to come out and fix it is pointless because I have attempted that numerous times, and it will work for a couple of days and then go back out again. Their excuse is I am too far away from the box, yet the box is at the end of my street. Tell me how that makes any sense?

Also, Prism is NOT worth the price you will pay. I had the promotional package a few years ago which promised me a set rate for a year. They started charging me full price before the year was up, and wouldn't cancel HBO and Showtime for me. I dind't want those channels to begin with as I have children. And they gave me a runaround as to why they wouldn't cancel and kept trying to get me to keep the channels. Finally I had to become rude to get them to cancel it and raised my voice. It shouldn't have had to come to that.

I agree that a class action lawsuit needs to be filed. Count me in if this does take place!

  48. Wow! This appears to be a company that is headed for extinction! I am a former US West employee and then went to Qwest which is now CenturyLink. I have been working with them on my pension, which they seem to have lost track of! It has been a nightmare, and it appers I will have to get an attorney involved. Stay away from this company, folks! They have serious problems.

  49. All I can say is that CenturyLink SUCKS!!!! Their customer service reps and technical support people are extremely rude. When we cancelled our service with them they said we had a balance and then told us not to worry about paying it. Now after 4 months with no contact from them or any notices they sent a bill to collections. They overcharged us for services and basically told us that they can't waive any of the fees because their hands are tied. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN CHOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!!!!!!

  50. There are two houses on my property and when the new renters at the other house wanted to have a phone installed. The techs who came out to do so in the process managed to cut my line. That was in April. Since I had no service, I called the repair number and reported the problem. The tech who came out said that he didn't have time to find the line and bury a new one so he connected a temporary line and simply left it laying on the ground. Immediately, the Century Link server kept recording a degraded line and my DSL service was downgraded to snail pace. This has caused me multiple business issues since I am unable to watch videos that require high speed access and that are a part of my business obligations. I have called, emailed, chatted, etc. and still my line is laying on the ground and my high speed DSL doesn't exist even though I am still charged for it every month. No one can tell me the name of the supervisor or the number that I need in order to present my complaints. Reading all the testimonials contained on this site, I don't suppose that my problem will be solved but I do feel better knowing that I am not alone in attesting to the incompetence of Century LInk. Next step, attorney?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I am still waiting for the line to be buried and my DSL to return to the speed that I am paying for each month. My first post seems to have disappeared and that is frustrating. Who reads these at the company and who is the person accountable for services?

  52. Boy did I mess up! I also signed up with Century Link, I have had nothing but problems, #1 Did not show up to connect service, was told that Rep. had put a hold on it, #2 They did not even have my social security number right, #3 Have been quoted 7 different prices in one day of what my internet is supposed to cost, #4 they keep telling me they are trying to get Direct TV's billing cycle with their cycle so they are trying to charge me $133.00 for service, #5 I signed up in a promotion that was supposed to 19.95 for 1 year, the Rep told me that I was not billed enough, that was a mistake,#6 I spend 3 hours on the phone with them being transferred from 1 person to another. And the last one was no smarter then the first. They will not give answers to their billing issues, I was told BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT YOU OWE. Direct TV has been blamed by Century Link for the billing issues, not saying Direct TV doesn't have it's issues, but seriously, it is pretty easy math, and they way Century Link is adding does not compute! This is only a small list of things I have been through with CL. I plan to send my letter to corp.

  54. I am here in AZ. I have had this company just since January and have had nothing but problems. I had a special but it ran out in 6 months, so I added a phone line which I do not use. The bill came, it was charging a high amt. for internet and showed no phone bundle. I called on July 10 was on hold on each transfer total time on phone with me getting angrier was about 1 1/2 hrs. I told them then I would only pay what I was suppose to pay for what I set up in May with bundling a land line. I asked and how much will my new bill be? Their answer 3rd person was $46.00 Plus tax. I call today July 31, 2013 the finance dept says we owe $270.00 some dollars, how could $46.00 got to that amt? We have put in our mailing address with them 4 times also, they keep sending it to a po box that has been gone for 5 months now. No body you talk to through their vicious cycles knows what is going on and everyone tells you different. They couldn't even find the notes or anything that a Sean had talked to me about, or the 2 others from the July 10th call. They never disclosed to us in writing or verbally about activation fee for the land line or what the new bill was going to be. I knew what it was going to be back in May for the starting of the new cycle June 28th. Sean confirmed what I already knew. We have had nothing but problems and their internet goes out a hell of a lot to. The are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am waiting for a tower for a company I was using before I moved here to the valley. We have kept records of everything with first names of all the idiots we have had voice contact with. Not only are we contacting the Attorney General of AZ but also LA. Century Link is looking at law suits to start coming there way for not giving disclosures besides for cheating their customers left and right. By law a company has to send out disclosures for any added fees or changes. It looks as if their CEOs and Board Members don't give a shit about how their company treats the customers. I am amazed at their profit reports. I wouldn't bundle Direct TV because it was going to cost more than what I am paying for Direct TV now. lol

They've sent me an excessive bill north of $700. plus $500 they are saying for early cancellation! My so called high speed internet speed tested at 1.45 mbps at $56.MO. while they advertise 20+ mbps for $19.95. I have moved to Verizon and tests at 54 mbps, jet pack for $50 mo. I've called the Iowa state attorney general and am awaiting a call back from someone who handles just CenturyLink complaints. We definitely need a class action on this outfit!!! 60. This is the worst company ever...I set up a bundle with direct t.v where they checked my credit and took a deposit and they transferred me to a centurylink rep where she did the same thing 2 credit checks and 2 deposits later I was trapped in now. Then they sent me my modem I had to hook up myself...otherwise that would have been $59.95 for them to do it, and 2 weeks after that for someone to come out and hhok up the phone in which they said if they need to come inside and do something that was gonna be $89.95 an hour then 2 weeks later I recieved my first bill it was $400 dollers and when I called to complain I sat on the phone for 2 hours for them to explain why my bill was that way and still ended up paying $159. now the next bill came and it's $169. something when they said it was gonna be $64. something another false statement. The customer service reps don't know what their doing so I called corporate and they lady transferred me to some excutive who reports to corporate and he couldn't do anything he said he would have someone call me back...still waiting...he didn't seem to care and when asked for his name he just said Ricky Ricky really that's it ...He didn't seem to care. Now after we hung up I called the corporate number back and mmmmmmmm no one picks up...This is the worst experience and sickening everytime I opened a bill. This is the worst company i ever dealt with Ihave brighthouse at home and now problem the come out the same day and he even had to run a new phone line in my house and no charge. No charge to come out or do work. So if your looking to get centurylink DON'T...BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE on top of everything I can only call locally...and down the street 10 miles is not local...what crap. You never get the price they tell you and then they explain why cause it's your fault they charge over over and over 5 pages of repeated junk on the bill. WARNING!!!!!!!!!

  66. No one on the phones knows what they are doing. I have spent 4 hours on the phone the last two days. Misquoted prices, my service randomly changed 3 months in and my bill was $20 higher than what I was locked in for. Nobody was able to tell me why. It was supposed to be a bundle with Direct TV, but I was repeatedly told that no bundle showed up in their system. I was also told that to go back to my original monthly rate would cost me more, so I was told it makes more sense to pay more this month. Simply ridiculous. I threatened to change providers and was transferred to retention services. Still wasn't told why my bill went higher. I was offered lower monthly rates with no contract or cancellation fee, which sounds great but they still messed up my entire contract. What if everyone with Century Link doesn't pay their bill next month? We should all do that. They would be screwed, and maybe some changes would be made. If not, they are a horrible company with no customer service whatsoever who I will never have again. As long as the executives get their 7 figure salary, nothing will be done.

  67. Ok so I bundled my Directv service with centurylink internet. Cancelled my service with Directv on Aug 9 and told centurylink to unbundle my account. Done deal right, nope. So, I pay my internet portion of my bill because I no longer have Directv and I told centrurylink right. End of the month I receive and email saying my payment is late 3 days later I get a disconnect letter from centurylink. Call them up and they explain that the bill had already been paid to Directv so I was still responsible for it, ok I understand and pay the bill. He we go two months later same deal. My wifes on the phone with centurylink and the stupid customer service reps who cant seem to do their jobs right keep telling her that Directv is still sending us bills which is a lie because the first time this happened centurylink rep called Directv on a three way phone call and verified that our service was no long connected and now they are doing the exact same thing. She's now on the call for the second time and has been transferred to 8 different people and the rep goes wow looking at the notes this has been going on for quite some time. Really so you can see this in your notes but instead of fixing the issue you still insist on going through this making it seem as though I owe you money for a service I cancelled almost 3 months ago now. IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND THINKING OF GETTING SERVICE WITH CENTURYLINK. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS.

    ReplyDelete
  68. If you wish to deal with "Customer No Service" then Centuryl Link is who you need to call. I initally called 4 days ago to get phone service at an existing apartment complex hooked up for my elderly mother who in addition to having Parkinson's is very ill. When the phone did not get connected the next afternoon, I called again only to be advised they were lacking information. There was no information lacking and not at anytime did anyone from Century Link call me, even though they insisted on having a contact number for their files. Since then I've made three more calls. After the second call, the Tech was supposed to call me within 20 minutes to advise what time he was to be on site to connect the phone since he did not do the connection first thing in the morning as originally promised. It's late afternoon and I still haven't heard from the Tech although I've been advised he'd be there sometime today. For my 78 year old mother a cell phone is not an option but I have cancelled my home service with Century Link because their service including restoration of service is about the worst I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I've talked with some very nice people on the phone, several times now, it's just that no one knows what they're doing, not even their supervisors. Therefore I cannot recommend them to anyone and I also suggest those of you with complaints contact the PSC. This company does not need to be in business.

  70. I'll be honest, I only signed up with CenturyLink after I had signed up with DirecTV. I was told they were the only service available in my town. I have nothing but problems with them from the start. Two weeks after signing up, my internet would cut out for a few hours to a day and a half. When my boyfriend would call the customer service line, they would constantly tell us that there is nothing wrong with their service but in our line. Eight techs have been to my apartment and they said our line was fine each time. Once they tested to see what we can receive. They told us 4.98 MB, not the 6MB that I was told I would be getting. So I let them lower the speed to 5MB. Still had issue five days later. I've had my boyfriend talking to them because they would listen to a man better than a woman and they still were playing games with us. They overcharged me on my bill and didn't give me the "Goodwill Discount" of one month free due to the instability of their service and hassle of having to constantly call them. We were supposed to have a tech come out today and they called my boyfriend's phone with the automation stating that our issue was fixed. The tech never called to let us know that they were on their way or knocked on our door to let us know they were checking our lines on the outside. Now after weeks of calling and the hassle, they are now telling us that the inside lines are the problem and won't fix them for free. I am at my wits end. I am looking into another internet service and I have filed a complaint with the BBB. They need to be taken out of business. They are scamming people and refusing to make right the wrong they are doing. I truly hope that they go out of business soon.

  76. I've like Century Link better than Comcast and a lot cheaper (they are charging what the promised me), BUT I agree their phone service is pathetic. Also, watch out for their "Refer a Friend" deal - it's very difficult. My daughter got Century Link, so when I called to get it, I told them she referred me. The rep said he would put that on the order. Later in the conversation, I asked again to make sure she got her referral award and he gave me a number to call. We finished signing up, then I called the number. The guy who answered gave me a website name and said to go in there and sign up. After fiddling with the website for a few hours over a couple of days, I gave up. During that time, I told a friend at work about CenturyLink and he got it, saying that he told the rep I referred him. He got a similar story, but after a few weeks, we both discovered that, in order to Refer a Friend, you have to do the website ahead of time, get some kind of number, etc, etc. I don't trust that, though. Now, though I like the service, I'll never tell another person about it. I feel like CenturyLink likes the referrals, but doesn't want to keep their end of the bargain.

  78. This company SUCKS BIG TIME!!! They say I've been a valued customer for over 40 years but when they lie to me about a new phone number and switch me from rep to rep and then after finding out that they can not help me any longer or even please me with some kind of discount after 40 years of service I've had it! They are the only phone company in my area and I am STUCK WITH THEM. I would change in a minute if I had another option.

  79. Here is just how much they do suck! Me and my girlfriend split up, the phone was in her name, when I tried to pay it off I was advised that I could not and I could not stop that service either! They told me to stop paying the bill and it would be disconnected? With stupidity such as that I really wonder how the fat cat CEO earns his 13 million a year? Maybe he should invest some of the inflated wage into the company he works for? I live rural and have been asking about DSL for over 7 years now between the former qwest and century link! Us hicks aint a worth gettin hi speed to I guess! Just another fat slob reaping in all the cash getting fatter and fatter with! Maybe when he drops dead he will suddenly realize money aint worth nothing! YOU CANT TAKE IT WITH YOU MR CEO! He makes zip from me I went cell only! Our country has lost its ability to function due to all of the corporate greed! Its all about what CEO makes the most a race to the bottom with no humanity!

  80. This company should be reported to the F.C.C. They have some how lost my payments that I verified through my bank statements for payment. I received a defective modem which drops the internet, when I reported it to them they said my service was terminated. I did not receive disconnect notice for those charges. This happened three times. I was of course charged a re-connection fee the first one was $55.00 and the second one was $51.00 I am waiting on the third one. I called customer service to ask why was I being charged for VOICE I was told by an incompetent (representative) that VOICE is the re-connection fee. I looked closer at my billing statement to see that just recently I am being charged an additional $20.00 a month for Premium Voice Service.... my phone service is VONAGE. The straw the broke the camels back was when a service technician came out to my property ... he/she disconnected the DSL wire from the modem which is under lock and key and is accessible to only Century Link. I had to wait until the following day to have my service restored. When I called to check on the ticket, I was told by yet another incompetent customer service representative that the ticket had not been assigned. I was given a reservation number and time that a technician would be on the property to run a diagnostic to restore the service, this technician called me to say that the wire had been disconnected from the modem.

Century Link's Corporate Executives should pay us to use their substandard services. Once I have these issues ironed out I am going into court to have all of my money refunded along with pain and suffering, I lost work and money behind their incompetence.

  81. Centurylink is the same hydra Quest was - cut off one head and another sprouts in its place. I look forward to the day this corporation from hell falls into ruin.

  82. I WAS WITH UNITED TELEPHONE THEN THEY WERE EMBARQ TELEPHONE AND THEN BECAME CENTURY LINK THIS WAS FOR 40 YEARS I HAD THEIR SERVICE. I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOO DONE WITH THIS COMANY. I DROPPED ALL SERVICE JUNE 4 2014. THEY ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR PHONE AND INTERNET AND WILL NOT EVER TRY TO GIVE PEOPLE A LITTLE BREAK ON COSTS. I WIL NEVER GO BACK.

  83. They put someone else's bill in my name and when I called to complain they would not give the information to contact the company. The web site said to email but 'customer service" said they had never heard of an email address. On another matter they wanted me to do something and my attorney had told me I couldn't legally. they informed me they "the call center" knew more than my attorney. This company could have gotten me in legal troubles.

  84. Absolutely the worst company without a doubt. First, sales lie to you. This service will not download movies etc from ROKU without issues. At least two to three times a night it has to boot up because of bumps in their service. On July 2nd lost service completely. Sent a repair tech out on the 9th. Left a note on the door saying they repaired something. STILL DIDN'T WORK. Offered to send another tech out. Couldn't afford to be without internet any longer. I refused and canceled the service. THEN THEY CHARGED ME 200.00 FOR EARLY TERMINATION FOR THEIR FAILURE TO PROVIDE ME SERVICE AND THEIR TOTAL INCOMPETENCE. DO NOT USE THEM. SAVE YOURSELF MONEY AND FRUSTRATION!!!! Came on to comment about how bad this company is but looks like they have been ripping everyone off.

    1. I pay $66.00 for a family line which has caller ID, call waiting, long distance, voice mail and other amentities and my other line is used for fax and internet whic h I pay $72.00. Bothcharges are monthly fees. A total rip off, Century Link should wear a mask. I am pushing for a choice of carriers in this area.

  85. Wish I had read all this before switching to Century Link. I was PROMISED my monthly bil would be $86 which included phone
Tv and internet. saving me me $40 a month over my current sevice. WRONG, my first bill was $157, I called and was told to just pay $86, the next bill was $186. 4 hours on the phone. Now I am waiting for them to call me after they have heard the original phone conversation. We shall see. One I get this sorted out I am gone from their service./

  86. We have been fighting with customer service for 5 months...they cannot get our billing right! In April we called to drop our phone line and keep our internet. We were told that we would be paying about $30 a month. Every month we get a bill for $83!!! Every month we have called, gotten someone to adjust the bill down and been told that the problem with our account has been resolved. The next month it is the same thing all over again! We have talked with the regular customer service, escalations department, corporate office customer service and finally got e-mail from the social media manager when I posted on their FB page. The corporate office woman told us that the problem had been fully resolved on July 9, but when we asked for something in writing to confirm that she told us that it wasn't possible for them to send us even an e-mail (but of course they could send us an e-mail claiming that we had underpaid our account...after being told to do so by their escalations department!). We know that she was lying to us because a friend of ours who had also been having problems with them had received an e-mail from them that very morning confirming the resolution of her problems. When we tried to respond, she disconnected the call...very professional...not!
I finally got a response via FB from the social media manager. He sent me an e-mail confirming that we should only be paying $32.77 a month and showing that our account was paid in full. He offered to answer any questions if we had questions about our next month's bill. Not a week later the August bill showed up...again for $83! I e-mailed him back 7 full days ago and haven't even had a standard 'I've received your e-mail' communication! We are fed up! I put in a call to our lawyer, and will get him involved in CL does not resolve this immediately! Horrible customer service!

  87. Since the beginning of 2014, on Wiseman Rd., near Urbana, OH, has had nothing but poor service from Comcast Jr. 6 weeks without DSL service, which, when it came to the area, they lied about the speeds, and, was overcharging people for 3 years, and, we can't go 60-90 days without an interruption of some kind of service, because Comcast Jr. can't get it right. Then, they want 4 day turn around for repairs, when, in our home case, the phone line is medically necessary. They seriously need to upgrade their equiptment, and, quit lieing to people.

    1. Comcast Jr. has also lied about credits, stating things would be taken care of by Fri., but, rep. just stated that since it is holiday week, it may be next week. Nothing was said about being holiday week earlier, just, everything would be taken care of by Fri. Comcast Jr. is as bad as a used car salesperson, if their lips are moving, they're lieing to you!!!

  88. By far the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The customer service is the most rude, evasive, and dishonest people on earth. I'm not even going to touch the technically challenged side of the business. Usually, with capitalism, this kind of company is quickly squashed out of existence but not here. They must have some serious political connections.

  90. On October 13th we were notified for the first time that CenturyLink was attempting to collect a charge using a collection company. This was the very first notification we had of the charge. CenturyLink had our address and our online account and neither supplied with them had no charge.

Over the past 4 years, CenturyLink has made outrageous mistakes like giving away our phone number to another party without our being notified or canceling our account. They have “lost” our information time and again, this time resulting in sending our account to a collection agency.

Over the past 25 years we have never had an account go to a collection agency. We have excellent credit and that is why CenturyLink’s inability to keep accurate records is so unacceptable. We will be filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and others about CenturyLink’s egregious behavior.

CenturyLink got the money they could have gotten over the past 3 months had they not misplaced our billing address! We, on the other hand got to enjoy the humiliation of being contacted by a collection agency due to CenturyLink’s ineptness.

  91. CENTURY LINK SUCKS, THEY WILL LIE TO YOU ABOUT NEARLY ANYTHING. I WAS TOLD I WAS GIVEN A MONTH CREDIT FOR A TON OF TECHNICAL REASONS AND WHEN I GET MY BILL THERE'S NOT CREDIT ON IT. I CALLED AND SAT AN HOUR FOR THEM TO TELL ME THERE NO ''JUSTIFIABLE REASON FOR CREDITING THE ACCOUNT" NEXT TIME DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE GOING TO CREDIT THE ACCOUNT. CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO SUCKS, VERY RUDE AND HARD TO TALK TO.
