  1. Very unproffessional service, after waiting for a delivery with no prior phone calls...they were 4 hrs. late I had to beg managment office at my building to let delivery be done at 7:00pm. Now trying to return piece that was rented for 1 month and I only have use it 2 weeks, they don't know when their able to pick it....

I am very unhappy with the services I've received I'm being charged for times I didn't have the merchandise I'm being told my payments are behind and I'm not I've been being harraased they showed up at my house banging on my door and window gestering for my children to let them in they're very rude and nasty when I call to try to fix the situation and come to an agreement

    2. hell they came out to my house to try and pick a washer that had two payments left on it and was just due that day lol then the driver peels out in my rock driveway and throughs rocks all over me , well i have it on video camera and now im going to sue them on top of pressing charges on the driver...i will let ya'll know what happens... im going to call the news next, im not playing with them...

    3. the rent a center in akron ohio, broke my front door and also broke into my home with no one inside to let them in, they said my son was home well he wasnt and is only 14 if he was there whick he was not and i can verify were he was at the time the break in occured, had breaking and entering charges filed against the emloyees, after all of the items i bought from them and then because i was working double shifts do to holiday ot they freak, they could of took the debit over the phone and chose not to, they got the furniture and a lot of leagl issues for there employees good luck that is all i can say, i eventually settled with them and i also agreed to drop the charges once my door was fixed and my check was replaced that was missing,and they also paid me 250 to keep my mouth shut and not sue and not revile the problem to the media, well the employees were never fired so i will not stay quite any longer

I have orders a chair several weeks ago and it was scheduled to be here a few days ago and when I call to check on the status the representative at the store is very rude and states that I don't have to call every day yet they refuse to track the status since it us past due and they refuse to give me any info on it other than it will get there when it gets there but if it is the day your payment is due they call three times and dare you to be one day late they will be calling me a ton yet they don't want me to call on a daily basis? This is why I have never gotten anything from a rental company such as renta Center before. I'm tempted to tell them to forget the chair and to come get my couch as I can get one elsewhere.

We are having trouble with the Saginaw my fiance called up to the office to speak with the manager and got some smart mouthed employee who started questioning her and making her feel low now this is really upsetting due to the fact we have been good customers and have had mutiple problems getting our stuff repaired we have worked with Brandon who is a excellent person to work with.i believe the person my fiance tried talking too was lake or something like that now i just over heard him asking her about her minthly income ane stating we can't afford you guess

  7. I am actually mostly upset with myself for allowing this company to sucker me into a third loan. Yes! I have completed and PAID IN FULL two previous loans with RAC. I had paid over $800.00 for a gaming system that my son simply wasn't using so I returned it being told the money I had paid would be put toward another item. In the end $210.00 was put towards a new contract which was a new living room set.That $210.00 will not even make a dent in the loan! So RAC just gets to keep over $600 of my money-just because. This company begins calling you non-stop the day your payment is due. Six phones calls were placed in a matter of 9 minutes recently. 1 to my cell, 3 to my work,2 to my sister's cell. Seriously! This week due to medical reasons I was 1 week late. This resulted in multiple phone calls a day, mostly to my employer who is now highly upset with me and 2 visits a day to my home. My loan was discussed with family members staying at my home caring for my children and they were also accused of lying when they told the RAC employees that I was not home. This is unacceptable and I believe pushing the boundaries of what is allowable collection practices by the law. I will never purchase another item from this place. I will discourage anyone and everyone I know from renting or entering into a contract with this place. Clearly if you read through all of these posts you will find this companies standard collection practices include agressive harassment of you, your employer, your family and your friends. They will stop at nothing. Just a warning...one day late with this place is as bad as being 30 days late.DONT DO IT!!!!!!

    1. I understand because, they keep calling being nasty, rude and hanging up on you.Calling your job tell whoever answer the phone your business, saying they will come on your job. When you try talk with them, they get loud and they dont have any respect. I would never use them again and they need to be more respectful to their customer. Espically Eastern Ave , Baltimore Md manager is very nasty, rude and disrepectful. never, never use Rent A Center for anything, they are over priced and disrepectful.

  8. My family has used RAC for years. Recently my sister got a "NEW" living room outfit.. Supposedly new, an my family ended up with BEDBUGS!! Thousands of dollars later and the store manager in MARION,OHIO has STILL not done anything OR offered any type of reimbursement! RAC should be ashamed the amount of money that customers pay for merchandise you would think, ESPICALLY good customers they would offer to do something?!?

    1. I was terminated from my position in that region because I would not adhere to the practices of rac. They are not going to offer any amount of money to you, and if they do it will not be any where close to the amount needed or they will offer you "new" merchandise again. FYI anybody reading this NEVER get a mattress from rac. Sorry but you have been screwed just as many of customers have that I've seen.

  9. My wife recently purchased an HP Pavillon computer model
    f the purchasendeed rom Somerset RAC store #1523. When she wanted to access the word processing softwear she called b w helpithout hesitationack to the store for assistance; they soon determined she no longer was paying rent and indeed paid off purchase and was no further use to their store or their efforts. They recommended another store in town but couldn't tell her address or phone number. She mentioned taking it to Office Depot and they replied they were too expensive. She took it to Office Depot and without hesitation helped her locate softwear an made an icon on home screen. Even though product not purchased from them they were timely big help. As a result I soon purchased HP printer an lenovo laptop from them. They freely gave advice an physically worked on equipment to make it easier for us to use an get up an running. I read results above an would suggest to anyone avoid dealing with these charletons, they are a no-good business to deal with.

  10. RAC is the most unreliable place you will ever deal with. They never deliver on time; never call to say there is a problem. They were going to repair a TV a got from them. I delivered it to there store and a week later they said it was repaired. When I received it back it still did not working. These people have no business doing business with anyone.

    I am writing because I have been having several issues from the Beaumont location located in the Conn's shopping center. The manager and the rest of the staff there are very rude and have poor customer service. I have been paying on my furniture for over a year and 6 months. When I originally got the furniture back in January of 2011, I was not given a service agreement nor was anything ever offered to me. I simply paid the amount due and paid for the delivery. I honestly had forgotten how much the furniture was.. but I knew it was not more that $2,000. I have mad payments on time and never try to avoid my payments. I have had to get Hamilton (the old DM for the Beaumont Area) involved in this process because the staff of Beaumont are so rude due to the one time that I did ask them to all me to pay at a later date, I was denied. Recently the Beaumont office has had a lady from Orange call me, and then they call back to back after I have given them a commitment date. Sandra (Manager in the Beaumont Office) is the worst. She called me while I was at a funeral demanding a payment. She also started asking queestions as to home my family member died, what did they die from, she hoped it wasn't close to me.. I felt that non of this was her business. For the past 2 months she has threatened to pick up my funiture when I have paid almost $3,000 for it. I'm sorry but that isn't happening. She looked over the account and then saw that I was never offered any assistance on this account of told of any early payout. I just made the purchase and just paid every month. Sandra stated that after 6 months you end up paying more than what the funiture is worth is you haven't paid it off. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT BECAUSE IF I HAD THE FURNITURE WOULD HAVE BEEN PAID OFF IN THE 6TH MONTH. I have requested 3 times to speak with the new DM Stephen and I have yet to speak with him. I learned this morning when I called the customer support line that he sent a note back to them saying that he talked to me and explained the terms and I set a commitment date for the 31st (today). I have not spoken to him in anyway. This to me is a bit outrageous and I am trying not to get my attorney (Anne Bradley) involved. I don't feel as if I owe anymore money due to the fact that if I had been given the paperwork and the program would have been explained the furniture would have been paid for. I had no knowlege of this at all.

  12. I am truly disgusted by your customer service at your location in beckley wv. First if all I will state that I was a return customer and can not believe I was treated so horribly. I went In your store a few months back and found a red couch and loveseat that I fell in love with. I decided to place a order for a set of end tables and coffee table. I signed my contract and explained to them I have to pay monthly. They asked me what was the best time to deliver my furniture I expressed to your employee before 230 I have to-be at work at 3. The day of delivery I called to make sure everything was a go . I was called back at around 11 and was told that they would be on their way. Around 230 I had to call again ,and the reply was they are on their way. Your truck pulled up in my driveway at 3:00 . As a single mother I depend on my job and I can't very well make any payment without one. When they were finished carrying it in , I was told that since I was already late for work that they could show me quickly how to put my furniture together. No they did not offer to do it ,even after being late. Then to add insult to injury they brought me a completely different set of tables. I AM A VERY EASY GOING PERSON .. I told the employee I would look at it and if I liked it better I would keep it. She said fine someone would contact me. Days later I CALLED them and asked them was they informed of the mishaps, and no one knew what I was talking about...when I went to make my first payment I questioned if my table were any cheaper that the original ones..well ..surprise...they were. There was no initiative to take the difference of my bill until I mentioned it?????? So I would have paid for a table set that was 80$ less if I would have never brought to their attention their screw up. On top of all this I get phone calls every other week for a monthly bill. Everytime they call I have to explain to them they have it in the system wrong and they apologize and go on. Today I called to speak to a manager ..and you assistant manager was the rest person in the history of retail. I explained to him like I do everytime they call me. He said fine just pay such and such and you will be caught up. I tell him ok and express my frustration of all the events . Your employee tell me he is not my babysitter??? And that its not his job to babysit me. FIRST OF ALL I DID NOT ASK FOR A BABYSITTER..I ASKED TO BE TREATED LIKE A RETURN CUSTOMER. When I said excuse what did you just say? He repeated this insult withi have 500 other customers. I will just come pick up your furniture and you can rent somewhere else.RENT A CENTER..IS THIS HOW YOU SHOW CUSTOMER SERVICE??? IS THIS ACCEPTABLE??? I WILL KEEP POSTING THIS UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE ..AND YOU CAN THANK YOUR ASSISTANT MANAGER AT THE BECKLEY STORE FOR ME GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE!! TO TOP IT OFF I WAS REFUSED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN YOUR CORPORATE OFFICE.?!!? NOT GOOD BUSINESS !!!!

    I lived New Britain Connecticut. I signed up to rent an air conditioner back over the summer. I had it for a month or so and called to tell them that I didn’t need it any longer. I requested that the come and get their merchandise and scheduled a time. EVERY time we scheduled a time over the phone, they’d never show up. I felt it was due the fact that I work after Rent-a- Center business hours and they did not want to wait around for me to come home. On my actual move out date from that residence we again scheduled a time and of course they never showed. I spoke with them around 6:30 that night and told them that the a/c is in the apartment and that they were welcome to come in and get it as I left the door unlocked and cleared it with the property managers. I was returning my keys that day so I could not wait for them any longer. My new residence is a considerable distance away from my previous address.
    I received a call the next day “claiming” that the A/C was not there and that I needed to cough up the money for it. Since then my parents have said that they’ve come to their house on two occasions with no notice and no regard looking for this a/c. That is harassment and furthermore very disrespectful.
    The baseless calls are very often and disrespectful. I feel that the lack of professionalism and lack of doing their job is being taken out on me. They tried to lock me in to more weeks so that they could get more money. I would like to remind you that I have been a customer before for two items at the Windsor, CT office and have never had any issues. I own a TV stand as a matter of fact from Rent-a-Center I was an on time customer as far as payment at the New Britain Branch up until they accused me of stealing the a/c. I would never do business with them again.

  15. I live in Puyallup, Washington and am very dissatisfied with RAC. I purchase a corner sofas and end table coffee table, win we receive the Items my wife and I look at the stuff and found to be used and rip the springs were sticking out the coffee table and end tables were scratch up with chunks of wood missing. I informed them they said ok it will take 2weeks. 3months later still no show I have called many of times, the manager told me that they are on back order, ok the manager said he will keep me up to date, that has never happen I have called many of times and still no answer. But they do want their payment new. I will never ever go to them again or recommend them .
    O” by the way I have never been late on a payment. If anyone care’s at RAC or Rent A Center I will be happy to talk to them.

  16. I am being sewed because the device that I rented from them for an exhibit did not work. Then they try over charging me for a replacement of lesser value. When I told them I would have my lawyer contact the, the clerk said that I don't have a lawyer because I live in Camden... I am very offended, not only did you not render a service that was paid for you offend me on top of that. I will be sewing for damages.

I will never rent again from renter center their horrible they were coming to my door and banging and kicking at my door and my daughter was in the house by herself and they would literally scare her to the point that she didnt want to open the door nor open curtains because she was so scared then they was taking notes and posting them on her car they are very unprofessional i don't know what kind of services they are running but i told them to get their stuff the guy sat at my door for approximately two hours embarassing I live in a gated community and this is what get never again.

  18. RENT A CENTER IN RED DEER, Alberta CANADA IS A JOKE!!!!! Very unprofessional and rude. At one time the customer service was awesome and the employees were exceptional. Now, not even close. Every time I walk in to make a payment there is yet another happy (not) customer in the store expressing there anger and frustration. I have bought out and paid for several different items since the store opened. The last two years have been painful and I will never purchase another thing from them again. I have had the pleasure of meeting two of the top dogs from Texas and I'm sure that they would not be very happy to hear the way this store is being ran. They are disrespectful little people who feel the need to bully and treat others terribly. There is not one employee in the Red Deer store that has any respect and good customer service skills and would it would be great if they were to just quit or be fired. Be very aware of the employees that you will be dealing with if you must purchase. I am done with them FOREVER!!!!!

  19. I looked at one of their sites and they have a list of things they are not allowed to do...
    Cannot go on your yard unless it's to get to your door. No looking/knocking on windows, tell them not to contact your work, they aren't allowed to degrade you. I haven't had these problems, but I have a laptop that they told me there weren't any parts for (not even a year old). I emailed them and the next day they said they found parts *magically, right?* and they sent it in. I got it back and not one thing was fixed. They sent it back again and they superglued one part of it (at least wipe of the extra glue) and NOTHING else was fixed on it. Now I'm not getting a reply back. Things were good for 2 years with other items, but this time...I'm done. I will never recommend them

  20. I got a frig from the rent a center on Ashley phosphate south carolina. Well when thenfrig got here it was all beating up. It had scratches and dents in it. Well it took me about a week to hook up the ice machine and water dispenser because we just moved in to this new house ,so when I hooked it up the ice maker worked and the water dispenser didn't so I took the back off to see what the problem was and Oh My GOD it was full of cock roaches. And old wadded up paper towels. So I called them and told them and they said that they would bring me out another frig the next day between 2-4 then I called back and then they said it would be one more day cause they had to gonfetnit from another store . Well when they brought it in my house I had to take parts off the oldnfrig to make the one they just brought me a working one with shelves. So then I hooked up the ice machine again and the ice maker worked and the water dispenser didn't so I left it hooked up so we could have ice well about a couple hours later my wife told me she heard running water so I pulled the frig out and the water line that goes to the ice maker had busted n had been running on our brand new tile n grouted floor for about two hours. Well I pulled the back off to disconnect it and to my surprise more roaches so we called them wed they said some one would call us back so I can talk to some one about the problem with the frig n the roaches and surprise surprise no one called me back well tomorrow I will be calling the store and the head off to find out who is going to do something about the frig I'm paying all this money for and also find out what they plan in doing about the roaches they brought into my brand new house and if I get no where I will call the news and go from there

When you lose a piece of a furniture set, (that was beyond your control), I think that if you want to keep customers, the employees should be doing everything in their power to either replace it or reduce the payment if the customer decides to cancel the replacement because it was ordered 5 prior to the cancellation! JUST SAYING!

  23. RAC is the worst place ever to do business with. My husband and I have been customers since 2001 and have paid THOUSANDS of dollars for merchandise. I wish I had a time machine to go back in time and never made the decision to do business with this company. The staff is rude, they never deliver on time and they make up their own rules about what and when you can rent items. They told us we could not get out TV back until we make 2 months of on time payments which by the way we paid the late fees owed AND we were not even late. When we opened a new agreement it changed our due date so technically we were not late!! They screwed up our payment due date but now we have penalized? Now we don't have a TV for the Superbowl...this is crazy!! I will be glad when the laws change and places like this are run out of town like all those payday loan stores!! They OVER CHARGE for EVERYTHING and God FORBID it breaks or needs to be replaced...good luck with that. My dollars and all the other customers pay their salary which comes out of the bottom line and they have the audacity to be RUDE?? After we pay off our son's computer we are SO DONE with this horrible company!!

I got the mans name after I tried to price match at a store, the manaager was more than willing but this dumpy leprachaun comes out and introduces his self, then tells me to go to the compitition.   27. I am 2 days late on my payment, I get paid on the 10th & 25th I have called them to let them know that I wont be able to make another payment until the 25th. I am a new customer and still within my 90 days but I am willing to pay but they have already began to threaten me to take my merchandise away. They dont give people a chance, its now Wednesday all I need is a little more time. I even offered to scrap up money and come in Friday if I was able to. The location is in Lenoir, NC if they gave people a fighting chance there really wouldnt be many complaints. Im not giving them a hard time or anything its just hard to stretch another payment out between my paydays. Please someone help.

I taped a coversation of a rude clerk, heres the story i ordered a fridge, they said i could use a loaner till it arrived, 3 months later i finally got the one i ordered so i had to sign a new contract. He (shawn at plainwell mi) told me to come in they opened at 9am to sign the new contract. They were not open, it was dark, no one answered the door, i called at 10 when they opened. Finally getting ahold of him at 10am he was upset and told me it was my fault i didnt walk in. In a dark building?.? Next he said if i didnt get there he was picking up my fridge, i was paid two weeks ahead mind you. So i take off work to go down there and sign, completly rude, no apology. Then i offer to show the tape to the store manager he is also rude and tells me it is illegal to tape his employees and says if i talk to him any further he is going to ask me to leave. I have been a customer for 4 years with RAC, and low and behold I received a criminal summons for court today-Monday! Needless to say dumb move on their part, I will be filing a civil lawsuit against them later today.-North Carolina

I am a store manager at a local business and the store manager from Rent a center Andy Beyer came in wearing his Rent a center uniform using foul language and acting very unprofessional towards my other employee's.After he left I followed up with Andy to see what the problem was and he acted to the same way on the phone as he did in person..fould mouth and very unreasonable.I have never done any rent to own transactions but if I ever do it will NOT be with Rent a center

  34. I made a 4 week payment over a month ago, I have been asking for them to services my couches over 4 weeks, last week they called me for a payment, really? The store manager has not had the audacity to call me, I have been dealing with the assistant manager, he tells me one thing and it never falls through. I owe them 112.00 dollars and I am not paying them until I get a hold of headquarters. I don't recommend Rent a Center Escondido or any Rent a center to do business with!

They have poor people skills I've called them the begging of the month about my washer was making noise an they told me I'm I sure it ain't unbalanced an I told them it wasn't well they came out a few days after that an heard for them seleves an brought me a loaner well they had to take loaner back cuz my water wasn't shut off so they leave an I call them on a sat to come back out so they did they leave the loaner an other washer here an called them yesterday to come for washer they keep using sorry ass excuses there short handed or behind

I'M WRITTING TO YOU BACAUSE I'M VERY UNHAPPY HOW ONE OF THE STORES IN AMARIILO, TEXAS IS OPERATING THEY DON'T STAND BYE THEIR WORD, MY SON IS IN THE HOSPITAL HE HAS UNDER ONE 2 SURGERY'S IN LESS THAN 1 WEEK APART FROM EACH OTHER. HE HAS 2 WINDOW UNITS THAT HE'S RENTING AND HE GOT SICK AND ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL. WHAT HAPPEN TO THERE FAMOUS WORDS WE WILL WORK WITH YOU, NOT........HE NEEDS THESE AC'S HE IS A HEART PATIENT AND HE HAS TO STAY COOL CAUSE OF HIS HEALTH....THEY ARE GOING TO GET THERE MONEY IF THEY WOULD WORK WITH HIM.....   37. I am so sick of this place in denton md. They are rude and nasty. It seems like everytime I make a pymt it's more than the time before. I get no leeway whatsoever. Pymt is due wed. I make it Friday and im charged a huge late fee. I cant tell you how many times the little jerks show up at my house wanting money. Or calling me harassing me. When I rented a sectional sofa and wanted to return it because it was a piece of crap, it took them 3 wks to come and get it, but if I missed a dang pymt they would have been there the next damn day. Im sick of their crap.

  38. I been a customer for rent a center for years i bought a bunk bed set from them and they said that they didn't have the mattresses for the beds. Ultimately i ended up having to buy the mattresses from elsewhere and rent a center didnt take anything off the price.
    They change management often and the new management has no idea what the old one did just that you owe.
    When you ask to speak to the manager everyone is the manager.
