    1. Get ready to get ripped off! Golds gym is crap. They are not Spectrum who you could call and talk with. These are professional thieves that act like they are going to help you but just help themselves to your money! Low rent crooks

    2. I'm beginning to feel the same way, At first it seemed so friendly and promising. but as soon as they messed up my account all the sudden no one can help me and everyone I clueless!! Horrible customer service and no urgency to resolve your issues and keep customers happy!!

    3. Completely agree with the above comments. We are in the same predicament. We started the membership in December 2013, in San Antonio, TX. They messed up the billing, and no one is able to help at a local level. Terrible customer service and inefficient talent at the management level.

    4. Im so over this useless company and i havn't even had the chance to work out! Entire staff is rude and could care less about your problem, the only thing they can do is hand you off to someone else who will be equally as useless...how do they stay in business...I guess consumers are lowering their standards these days.

    5. What kind of operation is this……Legacy Oaks in San Antonio, Texas is the latest Golds to open up there; This place is a sham, smells like dirty socks everywhere ALL the time inside the Gymn--it is all very filthy and I'm very surprised the Health dept. has not closed them down. There are 100's of members and is so crowded ALL the time that you literally have to wait in line to used any of the equipment. There is absolutely NO place to park ALL the time. But what really is disheartening is the Filth in the Gymn--The swimming pool looks like ALL the time that it is never cleaned, The steam room is absolutely Filthy, stinks and is a health hazard in itself. As NEW as this gymn is and with it being so crowded-the machines, benches, treadmills etc… (everything in there) whenever something gets broken it will takes weeks before it gets fixed. My wife signed up for a year contract and she never EVER went into the gymn, because of the conditions I have told her about---THIS WAS A BIG WASTE OF MONEY FOR BOTH OF US. After I left the MANAGER emailed me and wanted to discuss these issues I bring up….. (In keeping with the rest of the story)- That MANAGER never called me when he said he was. The Gymn IS and WAS the biggest rip off! You know giving the health dept. a call might not be such a bad idea after all. I know that they can't be abiding by the membership quota, I have a hard time believing that those crowded conditions are legal….. Yes, you're absolutely right---We will NOT ever go back

    6. Golds Gym is nothing but lone sharks that steal your money and make excuses. More like a dangerous gang you can't get out of. I wish i would've went with my first instinct and not signed up. They charged me twice in one month and actually trying to justify it. SMH! Im praying by Gods grace i get out of this contract. They can keep the money they took cus obviously they need it more than me but dont take anymore from me. I hate i did this to myself. Never again.

    7. We are members of Gold's gym in Somerville, Massachusetts which is near the Twin City Plaza. We have shared our concerns to the staff including the manager that it too hot in the zumba room, one of the fans broke two months ago and the still have fixed it, they keep telling us "we'll fix it" we'll fix it "however it is still not fixed.

    9. I'M SCARED !!! READING ALL OF THESE COMMENTS. But I will not back down. They are illegally accessing my account. I am in Ca. Simi Valley. The gym here in Simi is VERY SHADY. The manager here (KARLIE WEST) took it upon herself to reopen (recode) my wife's account to restart AcH deductions. We have wonderful laws here protecting us from corporate entities like this.

CAN WE SAY CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT! MY LAWYER FRIENDS HERE IN LA LOVE THIS KIND OF STUFF!!

Please send me your stories and I will have them look into it. send to [email protected] ATTN: GOLDS GYM and I will personally forward to my associates.

    10. Yes, I am still waiting on someone from Gold's Gym to contact me about personal training services I paid for up front and never received. Two weeks have gone by since I contacted them. Still no response.
Here are some steps to follow when dealing with an unhappy customer:
Let customer that you take their complaint seriously. Make sure a high-ranking employee responds to show respect.
Make the conversation private – If someone files a complaint publicly on one of your pages, respond to them privately. Send a thoughtful personal message responding to their complaint. If your business was in the wrong, apologize and ask for a second chance. Consider offering them a discount or some store credit. If your business wasn’t in the wrong, do not apologize. Whether you are right or wrong, having these conversations publicly can make you look bad.

    11. Location: San Antonio, TX

      To: Mr. Jim Snow,

First and foremost always listen to the customer. They are concerned about an aspect of your services. Take the time to listen and truly understand what’s their concerns or issues. Treat the complainer with respect and compassion. When client brings to the management their concerns about harassment and or improper behavior, be understanding. I brought a complaint against “Lindon” for his improper behavior. This would not be escalated if the GM “JR” took the problem or issue seriously instead he did not apologized and he responded abruptly “I will speak to him” and turn his back on me.

As a GM or corporate, your goal is to solve the problem. The customer/client needs to feel like you’re on his or her side and that you empathize with the situation. This GM “JR” did not even care and did not apologize for the inconvenience this had cause. When a customer senses that you are sincerely sorry, it usually diffuses the situation in this case, this did not happen it only made me more upset and discontent.

I spoke to Rocco, Area Regional once and I was promised a call back the next day, as of today I have not heard back from him after leaving several messages. I was promised by the GM, JR that I will be meeting with Rocco after their conference meeting however I was told yesterday this would not happen and they decided to terminate my membership instead. After I filled a complaint about harassment and improper behavior and I was retaliated against my complaint and they took sides and instead they expelled my membership. I was penalize for complaining about this situation.

They did NOT take appropriate action against the wrongdoer. The management team from Golds gym did not care and no follow-up from corporate to make sure that the client is satisfied with the solution and that they have taken care of your concern or issue.

      Thanks for your immediate attention!

    12. I have provided feedback to my local Gold's Gym at the Glen Burnie Mall in Maryland and my issue continues to be a problem. 5 out of the 6 TV's set to news channels were once again showing Fox News. I go to the gym to workout not have a political agenda shoved down my throat. My wife is upset that in the women's section none of the sets ever show the local MLB ballgames. I would prefer anything to Fox News...golf, tennis, MLB, NFL, anything!!!

  2. I've tried to contact headquarters about a gym in Harrisburg Pennsylvania and received nothing in response!! No reply, no "we will look into it" NOTHING!

They have increased the temperature to 74* in all of the smaller rooms and they become a sweat box before the workout begins. ONE fan is shared between 3 rooms which is not enough. If I wanted to sweat to death is do it in the 90* weather!

The bulb in the cardio room keeps going out and isn't replaced for weeks at a time. Equipment isn't fixed for weeks and the amount of equipment for Body pump is to a minimum.

The staff is great, friendly and only
As helpful as the owner allows them to be. The owner only comes in to make things worse. Perhaps if the facility was better cared for the owner wouldn't have financial problems and could afford to fix things and keep the customers cooler.

This 4 year member is seeking a new gym. I'm so disappointed in Golds as a whole and would not recommend them to anyone!!

    1. I called today to get some information about bar clips. I'm a member of Golds Gym in Harrisburg and am resorting to buying my own clips so I am not shut out of a class because none are left. The managers have been telling the owner to buy more clips for a year and still nothing.... I call the guy a slum lord.

As the previous person stated, equipment isn't fixed for weeks and the amount of equipment for Body pump is at a minimum. The mats are for yoga, not for weight training and are in very poor condition. There is sand all over the studio floor because the weights are loosing sand. The spin instructors scream because there is no microphone supplied to them.

The stair climbers are ancient and overall the equipment is old. The place does not have the standard Golds Gym look and the walls in the studio have stains all over them. The place is just not maintained.

  3. I contacted the corporate office in irving tx regarding a mistake on a debit amount on my account but they take no responsibility in helping me and say to contact the gym in which i made changes to my membership. That gym said to call corporate. They are clueless, especially Mirna and Belinda. They have no customer skills and no apologies for mistakes made by them. I belonged to Spectrum but unfortunately, Gold's merged with them and now, it sucks. Spectrum is professional with class. Gold's gym is Getto to the max-especially the corporate office. I miss dealing with Spectrum :( so much better!

  6. CANCEL! THEY HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWING FROM MY ACCOUNT FOR SERVERAL MONTHS UNAUTHORIZED AND THE BILLING COORDINATOR IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AHOLD OF. I'VE MOVED TO A RURAL AREA OF MAINE AND THERE IS NO GOLDS GYM IN THE AREA. I'VE SUBMITTED ALL DOCUMENTATION, LEASE, LETTERS, ID'S, BILLS, MAIL ETC... AND THEY CONTINUE TO WITHDRAW MY MONTHLY DUES. I'VE CALLED ON AVERAGE 6 TIMES PER WEEK AND LEFT MSGS WITH ALMOST EVERYONE THAT WORKS THERE THAT THEY PRACTICALLY KNOW WHO I AM BY THAT ALONE, AND "MARIA" FROM THE COMMUNIPAW GOLDS GYM IN JERSEY CITY WILL NOT RETURN YOUR CALLS OR GET BACK TO YOU AND HAS ALL THE EMPLOYEES "SCREEN" HER PHONE CALLS SO THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO "DEAL" WITH UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS. THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT! I'VE BEEN CALLING ALMOST EVERYDAY FOR 3 MONTHS AND SPOKE TO HER ONCE ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND SHE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY THAT SHE DID GET MY MESSAGES BUT JUST DIDN'T CALL ME BACK. AND THAT APPARENTLY SHE NEEDS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM ME...LIKE WHAT? MY FRIGGIN DNA?? THIS IS RIDICIOLOUS! I WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND NEVER REFERING ANYONE TO THAT GYM. EVER.

    3. I had the same problem in Staunton, Va. I moved out of the area, no Gold's gym within 75 miles of my home. I wrote to cancel membership and they filed a collection on me. I've been trying for years to have it removed and they aren't budging and neither am I. It'll stay there until I'm dead and gone.

    4. I was double charged by the Gold's Gym in Rosslyn, Virginia ten years ago. They drew monthly charges from my checking account, and at the same time they charged me $5.00 every time I visited them. I still have the receipts.
In 1997, I complained to their financial company called BELMONT FINANCIAL SERVICES and the Rosslyn Gold Gym. But both ignored my complaints by letter. I did not speak good English at that time, and after 10 years (now), I have decided to call their customer service department. Ms. CYNTHIA HARNANDEZ an emploee, has told me that there is nothing I can do about and basically has told me to go away. Ms. CYNTHIA HARNANDEZ has insulted me although the fault is theirs. She won't let me speak to her supervisor or manager. My complaints are blocked and buried by her. The company does not have a moral.

    5. I moved. Filed for early termination- moving from Alabama to Maine. Sent in paperwork (after confirming correct forms accepted with Keisha Clyde). Over month later billed twice from account. Called again- spoke with Cynthia Hernandez said nothing was received.. I forwarded her my email from last time. Heard nothing. Called back again, talked with Nick Martin (who was over-the-top rude) and he spoke with Cynthia. Cynthia tells him my proof of move or whatever isn't valid? It was a utility bill/statement issuing me a refund??? So, still waiting to hear what's going on? Calling again tomorrow. I have, in the mean time, cancelled payment through my bank. Anyone else should do the same if they know they've been scammed. CANCEL PAYMENT THROUGH BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY.

    6. It's incredible how that works; it's happening to me also. It's been more than 4 months that I tried to cancel my membership and they still taking my money from my debit card. I even have a termination paperwork where stated I cancelled the account. Anyway; sent an email to [email protected] hopefully I get a respond. I been with Gold's since 2011 and will never come back again. This is ridiculous, now I am working in overseas and communication is worst than when I was local. San Antonio Gold's Gym really need some kind of customer satisfaction training.

    7. 9/27/2016 A couple of things to add to all this: First, the address on the Internet as the Irving, TX address resulted in a Return To Sender as address was unknown. Second: When I tried to use the toll free number, that does not work. Third: When I used the regular number, for complaint, the person hung up on me. Fourth: The one trainer I had was really good, but because he knew so much, I realized that the local Gold's here in Asheville, probably pushed him out. The next trainer I got gave me the wrong exercises, and I wound up in my chiropractor's office for several months. Must be 90 day wonders. I am aware that some more debits were taken from my debit card, more than the regular monthly dues. But not all that much. For 1 year, my health insurance paid my dues. So I don't really know what transpired at that point. Basically, most of the chain gyms are a real scam. Stick to the local guys, forget the saunas and swimming pools, get a qualified trainer, and get fit! Even a large gym with a swimming pool and sauna is much better than the chain big box ones. Gold himself would never have stood for these complaints...he would have cleared this up in no time. Thanks for the rant!

    3. I am currently going through the same ordeal. I changed my credit card number and now they have reported me to a collection agency. I have called and mailed letters to corporate headquarters and to the collection agency to no avail. Today, I received a third notice stating that "THIS IS YOUR THIRD NOTICE-- ALL PREVIOUS EFFORTS TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER HAVE BEEN IGNORED." Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve a dispute with Gold's Gym. I feel like this is extortion!!!

    1. I wanted to check out the Tewksbury Mass. gym without divulging all of my personal info to prevent an onslaught of spam etc. They are sooo friggin cold and worse than TSA. They only cited me saying it is a business and that is how they run it. They are either stupid on how to run a business and have no clue how to create a rapport with possible new clientele. I doubt they have a brain attached to the steroid looking bodies and have most likely had NO experience working with a quiet community where I live. They should close the doors and let someone else who knows the people of Tewksbury have the building to put it to better use than a musclehead mill

  9. I have been financially harassed by Gold Gym for the past year. Not only have I submitted all documentation to the gym I was a membership at, but sent copies to their local corporate office. I have been told several times that "This will be taken care of I am so sorry" by the Gym's Manager (who is also the guy who signed me up), and to no avail, nothing has been done. Luckily my bank is AWESOME and put a block on them trying to STEAL anymore money from me, however every month they still try to submit for payment 4 to 5 times a month, AND on top of that, they have sent me to collections, which I plan on fighting with an attorney if necessary. I have never had to deal with such stupidity in all my life. I can't believe people still buy into this gyms bullshit!

  10. I cancelled my account several months ago (so I thought) but due to my submission "never being filed" I have continued to be charged every month even though I don't even live in Texas. I have been told that A) there is nothing they can do, B) I should not expect to get my money back and C) been given phony numbers by employees. I have no idea what kind of business these people are running but if you ever are thinking about purchasing anything from them, don't do it. You will only regret it.

  11. I am so disappointed with the Gold's Gym in Greenbrook NJ. Due to indifferences with the landlord Rob, the gym owner sold his gym to the Retro Fitness. Without giving my the option I am a member of Retro. I do not want to be a member at Retro. We were all effected by the Hurricane Sandy, including the gym. They had no power for 2 weeks and somehow not only was I billed for the full months gym, but I was billed by Retro?!! I am so dissapointed, I really enjoyed Golds gym and I chose Golds over Retro for a reason. I would like someone to please contact me. Since Golds is no longer there my membership should have been canceled and I should have been given the option to stay or go.

  12. Same here, they just tried to withdraw money from your bank even after I cancelled the membership 3 months later. They even sent me a bill that place me in collection. I called customer service line and was on hold for ever and never got to talk to anyone. I called the local gym and spoke to the manager and she asked me if i have a copy of cancellation sheet even though it showed in the system that it has been cancelled. She said that she needs proof that I was actually the one cancelling it. Can you beleive this? Gold Gym is so UNPROFESSIONAL and please DO NOT be a part of it or have anything to do with thier business. It's totally a scam.

Ditto here with the Green Brook NJ Golds Gym - I cancelled my membership when transferred abroad, sent the local gym and their billing agency in ga (per the membership fine print) via certified mail and they still tried to tell me they didn't get it and just kept on drawing money from my acct each mo... Had to put a block on them from 1/2 way around the globe and then the collections calls started... Took the BBB and attny gen'l office consumer affirs to get they scumbags off my back... 3 yrs later!!!

Then I Find out that's the golds' mo... Run don't walk away if you value your money - must be organized crime behind the golds gym syndicate
