  1. OK went to dinner tonight with My spouseand my little girl Carolina at Applebees in Kendallville. First Carolina's food not done sent it back then ours came out burnt. Well we reordered by the time we got our food (25 minutes later) Carolina was done, my food was not cooked all the way Toms was ok and I was so upset i did not even eat. Well guess what our waitress brought our bill with EVERYTHING we ordered on it nothing taken off not even a drink. I will never eat at Applebees again. That manager new of everything and told us sorry about the food that don't happen often, but that sure did not fix our evening in anyway. So again I will say I wont eat there again. Just very sad that they cant take care of there customers the way they should!!!

  2. I went to a applebee's in orangeburg sc and the service was terriable. I should have walked out it was so bad. I waited 30 min. to get 4 drinks and 45 min. to get any food. The waitress kept telling evryone she waited on sorry about everything. I was really hungry but I was so disgusted I lost my appitite. The manager never said sorry other then they were busy. No one came to refill our glasses while we waited. I have went there before and had a great time, but this waitress was really bad. I spent $30 for just a bad time, and ended up getting me something to eat at mcdonalds.

    1. It's often not the waitress'/waiter's fault when food takes a long time. It's usually because the kitchen is slow or understaffed. You can tell it's the waitresses fault if the food is cold, or the plate is hot and the food dry from sitting under the heat lamp.

  3. Went to Applebees in Andorra, PA last night for a fundraiser. Service was terrible, waitress was awful, poor communication all around. Waited too long for food, two out of four at our table finally rec'd their food, the third at our table rec'd food after waiting at least another 20 minutes, the fourth after asking waitress what was wrong was told the "Salmon was frozen" and was finally served meal by Manager w apologies and no charge. Definitely disappointing!

  4. went to Kennewick Washington location to have the experience of watching a manager belittle a waitress in front of customers. The man (asian decent) obviously thought it would encourage her to want to do a better job. She was very sweet and could tell she was upset. I was appalled and thankfully I know a little about the laws and how employees deserve respect. I will be sending additional information and making sure I spread the word to my many friends who frequent the restaurant. Additionally I find out this manager makes threats to employees about losing their jobs instead of encouraging and being a leader. By the way if your steak is cold or isnt prepared properly, maybe talk to one of the cooks or "leaders". They arent the ones getting paid minimum wage and taking all the crap!

    1. Thank you for that. I am in the process of calling cooperate HR and telling them about my experiences at my job at Applebees. I have been yelled at twice in front of other employees and within earshot of customers at the bar. I was so embarrased I wanted to cry, once it happened and I was stil new, the second time it happened it was my mistake and I went to the table and profusly apologized to them that I had cleared their table, not knowing they were in the bathroom they were both very nice and their food was remade and brought to them right away but I am really concerned with how they treat their employees. So thank you for standing up for us!

    2. I also worked for applebees. I would work anything I could, bust my ass, and get absolutely NO RESPECT. The servers were lazy, sitting around texting, when they had guests. They would flat out argue with the guests. Get a new manager, and she turns out to be one of the ones who likes to act like she knows her shit, when clearly she doesn't. The hosts will quadruple sit a server, and the server gets in trouble for it. I have NEVER worked anywhere in my life where the lazy get rewarded, and the hard workers get punished. I will be in contact with corporate. IF THEY EVEN CARE. Had servers giving away free drinks, employees using drugs while on the clock, and things being stolen......... applebees is a joke.

    3. When I was a server 4 tables was normal per server. I never had any problems. Sometimes if a server didn't come in and it was busy we'd get a fifth table, but it could be done. I never had problems outpacing the kitchen.

  5. We went to Applbees in Beloit Wisconsin, food was terrible, service was crap no one came by to see how we were doing or ask if we needed anything eles. We will NEVER!!! go to another Applebees again. By the look of all the other comments, alot of peple wont be going back either. Maybe the CEO of Applebees needs to read all these comments and do something about ALL the bad service and crappy food in ALL the restaurants.

  8. I went to the applebees in SteelYard Commons Cleveland,OH. The service was terrible, and on top of the bad experience our server had the nerve to run out to the car and tell me that I did not pay. After she was proven wrong Dawn proceeded to have a not needed attitude with me and refused to apologize. I would NEVER recommend AppleBees to ANYONE. Unless they hire QUALIFIED staff.

    1. Well where do I start. A lot of people complain when they do not have knowledge of a situation many ppl dnt know that it is Applebee's policy that if someone walks out on a bill the server has to pay for it! That's y it's treated so seriously how would you handle it if someone walked out on a bill and no matter what they spent u have to pay for it!! The worker is not to blame the establishment is!!

  9. so..where do i start...we sat at the bar....had to ask the bartender to take our order 3 times before he finally did...food came out sloppy, all over the place...my friend had some type of plastic in it...somehow the birthday girl from the party across the bar left without paying her bill and the rest of the party refused to pay....well the manager came over and instructed the bartender to go take a picture of their license plate...a huge altercation went on outside and all but 2 of the employees went out to witness, leaving many people unattended inside. they remained outside for what seemed like forever, meanwhile i waited on the change ($13) from the bill....when i had to ask for it, the bartender said to me " i didnt think you wanted any change" . then he proceeded to charge me for a drink that he hadnt charged me for in the beginning guestimated what change i was owed. my intentions were to leave him the $13 but i wanted to be given the option...poor customer service all around, very uncomfortable atmosphere...and the bartender referred to the customers as "coons"...if that isnt racist, i dont know what is. raleigh nc...wake forest road....never go there...ever!!!

  10. After my daughter's high school play we went to eat at Applebees in Pottstown, PA. The appetizer was anything but appetizing, it was spinach dip with tortilla chips. The chips were stale, the dip was full of glops of some kind of mystery substance that was a lot like Elmers glue. My wife got a sirloin steak, it tasted as if it had been marinating in salt for a couple of weeks and was hard and burnt. I ordered a chili lime chicken meal that was truly nothing more than a plate full of slop. The chicken was rubbery processed and extremely salty.
How you can stay in business for much longer is beyond me. Everytime we go to Applebees we get stuck with a really terrible meal.
But I think that this was really that last straw for us, we will never let you guys take our money again.

  11. Durham, NC location is working employees over 8-10 hours and not giving them a break, lunch hour or food. This needs to be reported to the labor department.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Correct me if I am wrong, labor laws are different for servers. I don't think they have to have a lunch break because it is considered a split shift and is treated as though it isn't straight through 8-10hrs.

  12. The Lorain Ohio Store on Leavit Road has bad customer service. And the manager Andrew Magel needs some training in customer service. The mess up my order two nights in a row. And he was rude. I think I will call the local newspaper and TV stations and report how bad they treat customers.

    1. This one made me laugh out loud. Don't threaten to "call the local newspaper and TV stations." Either do it or don't. I annoys me when people throw out threats in anger. It shows poor character and renders your point pointless. It just becomes un-important rants of a mad woman instead. For the record, unless you have many, many people with similar stories about the Leavit Rd. Applebee's, no one would be interested in your complaint for publishing.

    2. More than likely this is either the corporate office, manager(s), or server leaving this reply. Get over it "Anonymous April 26, 2012 2:38 PM!" Applebees leaves a lot to be desired. They are the "WORST" restaurant in the industry! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it! And just for the record, local newspapers and TV/News Stations would love a story like this. It exposes the rip-offs! To "Anonymous March 22, 2012 10:25 PM" don't let this half-wit scare you! You have a right to report Applebees! Go for it and don't stop till something is done. Let them know of this website and they can read for themselves the comments of the many unhappy customers! I'm doing something about it!

  13. I used to love Applebee's. I would go there with friends about once a week for drinks / snacks / dinner / lunch. However, I will NEVER go there again!!! I went there with a friend for dinner, ordered a glass of wine before dinner, and was asked for my ID. I'm 63 years old, and they need an ID??? As a point of principle, I told the waitress to forget it; she was very rude; she earned a ZERO tip that day. I thought I would give them another chance and stopped one afternoon on my way home to get an order to go. I waited 15 minutes at the front door. NO one ever came to ask me what I wanted, if I needed something, or if they could take my order; no one even came to seat me. The restaurant was empty, except for a couple of tables in the bar. A group of employees was standing at the back by the bar talking to the bartender. They saw me, but they never came to even speak to me. I'm done with Applebee's!!! Neither I nor any of my friends will ever go there again. As far as we are all concerned, they may as well close their doors!

    1. I used to wait tables many years back and thought I might add some perspective here as far as the server that asked for your ID. She might have been just trying to be polite in asking you for your ID. Most older women find it flattering when asked for their ID when it is obvious they are way over 21. I know I do. I am not 63, but 45 and it is very obvious I am way over 21. Seeing as how it is the law to have an ID anyway, I guess I don't see what the harm was in showing it to her and getting your drink. I am sure her intentions were good.

      Delete
    2. Some chains require that you ask for an ID regardless of if you're freshly 21 or about to kick the bucket in the next hour. It's the restaurants policy, and to take it out on the server is ludicrous and uncalled for.

      Delete
    3. Agree with "request for I.D." It is usually required by law, and if the server doesn't ask for it, they are only doing you a favor, which is NOT required.

  15. My Fiance and I went to Applebees in Conway, SC tonight. I was looking forward to getting me a steak dinner and the clock says it is 11:45pm. We went into the restaurant and was told that they are closed. I said so what time do you close they say 12am. I say well it is 11:45pm. So we can't even get an order to go and I was told no. Really..... so my comment is if you are shutting down earlier than your hours say then at least lock your door so a customer such as myself who is looking forward to getting a certain meal can recognize that and not be set up for the okie doke. I don't think it was professional either for the manager to stand there and let her employee tell me that they are closed knowing that the door was still unlocked for us to come in.

    1. WOOOOOOOW! This post just goes to show how big of a douche you are. It is common courtesy and retard knowledge that you do not go into a restaurant 15 minutes before they close and especially if your ordering a steak. Let me guess you wanted medium well or well done? Take it from a doctor that waited tables and bartended their way through 19 hours a day of school and work 7 days a week. My recommendation for you is to not eat so much red meat late night and you wont have to deal with bad service, high cholesterol, or further obesity which I am sure you and your fiance are already experiencing.

  17. We visited the Applebees in Wilkes-Barre, PA last night. The waitress had told us (and her other customers) how she is an actress and her ex is dating Ann Hathaway and Natalie Portman. Talked all of our legs off. Okay, not so bad but forgot the topping for my daughter's steak. Said she would bring it out and left the floor only to return AFTER our dinners were finished. When I told her that my daughter never got the steak topping she replied "yeah, what's up with that"??? Anyhow, terrible service, never checked on us and never gave a drink re-fill. I called the manager "Neil" to tell him the food was great but the service was terrible. He totally skirted the situation saying maybe she was overwhelmend, I didn't know how as she had 2 other tables that had left early and all rolled their eyes with her stories. He also said it was his fault as she did order the topping for my daughter but somehow it was a kitchen mishap. He also said that he had come out to our table but we were gone already. Funny, we sat for awhile after paying the bill. My point, the waitress should have followed up on this however the manager continued to make excuses and offered me a gift card. I didn't call for a free dinner, I called because the service was horrible. Case in point, bad waitress and even worse manager!

  18. Last night we ate at Applebees in Del Rio, Tx. Big mistake. Our spinach and artichoke dip was ok, but the chips were dripping full of grease. When I asked the server to call the manager, he told me that the manager is too busy to talk to customers, but he will see what he could do. Manager came by 10 minutes later to tell me that that is the standard in chip preparation. Unbelievable! When I asked him for his name, he refused to give it to me and said that it was store olicy not to give his name. I was totally flabergasted. I posted this on facebook and was told by friends who live there that theynever go there because of the bad service and bad quality of the food. Well this out of towner and my family will never eat there again.

She said that it was the new version of the sandwich. It was horrible. There were no onions, peppers or mushrooms on it and it was much smaller. I will never order a Philly cheese steak there again and, it will be a long time before I ever eat there again!

She told us that he had been busy but she got or drinks and said he would be with us. About 20mins later he showed up and asked were we ready to order. The food took FOREVER to come out! When it did, the waiter asked if i wanted a refill. I told him yes but it NEVER came!!! The noodles on my cajun shrimp pasta was dry and it was not good. I should have walked out or called a manager but i was so irritated i was ready to leave!!! I will NEVER eat at Applebees again!

  28. My husband & I went to Applebee's in Bessemer, AL for dinner last night. The service was terrible - the waitress (not sure if she was new) had a problem with what we ordered - she never came by after we received our food to see if we needed anything else - never asked if we needed refills - after waiting for her to come to our table so I could get dipping sauce for the chicken tenders, my husband finally got up & went to the back to request the sauce. He spoke with another waitress & she told him she would get it for him - she never came back. Meanwhile our waitress finally came to the table to check on us - explained what I needed & that we still wanted to place a to-go order - she took the order & left - it took about 30 minutes for her to finally bring the dipping sauce (my food was cold by then). I had to keep my husband from walking out long before she came back (he was furious) - then we had to remind her again that we would like refills on our water!!! A manger never came to our table to check to see if everything was ok. Needless to say we will not be returning to this Applebee's - the service has always been terrible but we had been giving them other chances to change - but evidently it is not going to happen.

  29. Written for the Taylor Rd. Montgomery, AL location. Long story short, my wife ordered a meal and the kitchen screwed it up. The meal wasn't supposed to be spicy but came out with sauce from the wrong entree, making it extremely spicy, so she wasn't able to eat it. The server told us it was right so we asked to see a manager. The manager then lied to our face, and was extremely rude, and told us the menu even had a pepper next to the meal to indicate it was spicy. So I showed him the menu and that it said absolutely nothing about spice and he continued to lie and tell us that that is how its made and that the kitchen made it right, and that their stupid policy is that if the kitchen made it right, there is nothing they can do, and the customer has to pay. I will never be returning to this site, or any Applebees for that matter. This behavior was unacceptable.

  31. I went to Applebee's in Merrillville, IN this past week with my husband and ordered my favorite meal. When it came, it looked great, sounded great because it was sizzling, and it was very very hot. I took my first bite of the chicken and it didn't taste well. My thoughts were because it was so hot, that maybe I wasn't tasting it right. I took another bite and still it didn't taste right. I had a shrimp and it was good, then I had some onions and they just were terrible. I took one more bite of the chicken and realize that I was eating cleaning solution. This wasn't the cleaning solutions that they use on the dishes (I know because I use to own a restaurant), it tasted just like the smell of a degreaser. Of course I complained and they took the meal off my bill, but the more I think of it....they poisoned me. This wasn't a cold meal or a wrong order, this was poison. I remember after my complaint, I never seen the manager again, it was like he just disappeared. Now I am really mad and thinking of talking to an attorney. I'm sure none of the executive members of Applebee's see these post, maybe they just don't care, but I do hope more people from NWIN see this and never go to the Merrillville store again.

  36. I went to a Applebees in Cedar Falls, IA and dined. After getting the check I signed for my $16.04 charge, but mysteriously when checking bank records the Applebees charge was $20.00? What!!! So I contacted the store and the manager told me that he had a discussion witht that waitress and she is a pretty "trustworthy" employee and dont think that she would have added a $3.96 tip and questioned if I forgot being the penmanship seemed close to my signature.. What are you a handwriting anaylsis or a store manager?.. I told him no and first and foremost I am not leaving a $4.00 tip and especially not to her with her service. But please believe I got my $3.96 that was basically stolen from me back. I am reported this because this is bad business practices. Rest assure I think she has done this before but some people just didnt think much of the charge and forgot how much there bill was.

    1. So, basically you just wrote to admit to everyone that you're a cheapass. Congratulations on complaining that a waitress may or may not have given herself a decent tip since you obviously weren't going to leave anything. The only time you stiff someone is if they spit directly in your face or punch you in the groin. Otherwise you tip. I think this was just karma biting you in the ass.

    2. You do realize that even if you don't leave a tip we still get taxed on it. Essentially by you not leaving a tip, you have forced you waitress to pay for it to the government. Thanks jerk

I will never eat at that apple bee's again and I am so sorry we had to deal with this problem. When I asked asked if he could write off the meal he said no. 41. My sister and I ate at Applebees in Birch Run, MI on 8-2-2012. Our waitress, Ashley was a very sweet, polite young woman. However we waited 47 minutes (according to the manager) for our food. I only had fish and chips, which came out 5 minutes before my sisters, so naturally I waited for her food before eating. Our waitress did call the manager who came over and apologized saying they were having problems in the kitchen. At first she was only taking our pop and salads off, she did end up comping our entire meal, which we took with us and threw away. We had asked Ashley if our meal would be out soon, she said it should, however never went back to check. We were told they lost our ticket?! We have eaten at Applebees by our home in Grand Blanc and Fenton MI and have never had a problem with the food or service. The manager needs to explain to Ashley to keep a closer eye on her customers and time it's taking for food to come out. Overall the service wasn't great, but they did apologize and do the right thing.

  43. I used to visit the Applebee's in Baldwin, NY on a regular basis - Never again - why bother? - there are many other places around!
A couple of the barmaids have it in their mind they are "Management" material and treat the customers like cattle.
They have a "Happy Hour" and even though you may have been there for a while, these two (SARA and ASHLEY) stop at exactly 6pm - no warning, no 6:01 - 6PM that's it!!
They also pour a beer that has half a glass of foam - I understand that management wants to cut food and drink costs but if I am paying for a pint of beer, I would like something close to a pint.
Overall - food poor - servers poor - barmaids poor

  44. Applebees in Orangeburg SC is disgusting. The window sills were dirty with food crumbs, dead flies & other bugs and there was one live fly who kept flying over the table the whole time we were there. The waiter got missing for about 20 minutes. However, the food was okay but sitting there looking at all the filt almost ruined my appetite. They really need to do a some serious cleaning at this place. I will never go there again.

  45. I worked for the Applebee's in Beckley Wv for over 6 years. I moved in 2002 so it has been over 10 years BUT.....I am soooo disappointed to see all the negative comments on this page. Corporate PLEASE listen to your customer base. I don't want to loose my all time favorite restaurant!!!! In my opinion it seems as if training has went to the wayside which has brought down the standards. When inspection time came around in my hometown store, not exaggerating one bit, our District manager would put on a white glove!!!! Our New hire training classes were serious business.Don't get me wrong it was fun but if you didn't score well on the "quiz sheets" you weren't put on the schedule until you could! The Roll outs were mandatory and a now show was a write up! Someone please listen to your guest!!!!! They are telling you something is WRONG!!!! Fix it before you become a place you don't want to visit!!!!!! I was observing just yesterday in a PA Applebee's while we were having dinner, because I was considering applying. Things certainly have changed and I am afraid not for the better.

  46. my friend and i went to the Applebee's here in Columbus, Ohio. as usual, the service and food was horrible. everyone inside the restaurant was extremely rude, including the manager. the servers gave off the impression as if the customers were bothering them. We didnt get refills, napkins, clean eating utensils. just nothing other than nasty attitudes and nasty service. This particular location isn't the only location here in Columbus, Ohio that has horrible service, its EVERY LOCATION!!! If this is the way the corporate office wants to handle and run there businesses, I'll pass. I rather continue to take my business to RED LOBSTER where I would be appreciated. Corporate Headquarters needs to be more involved in their restaurants and providing proper training in every category. If Applebee's wants to remain standing, get it together. Rather if it improves or not, I WILL NOT EAT THERE!!

  48. On August 18th three of us went to Applebees in Sequim, Wa. for lunch. There were probably a dozen diners there (2pm). We ordered appetizers and cokes and 2 burgers and a soup sandwich combo. The cokes and appetizer came right away. After that we waited 35 minutes for our burgers. We asked the waiter and he said it probably wouldn't be more than 5 or 10 minutes more. We waited 5 minutes more and decided to leave, but wanted to pay for what we ate. There was no waiter or hostess to be found. Everyone was in the back room. Finally the hostess came out front and said she had to go ask the waiter before we could pay. She headed for the back room. then the manager, Ryan, came out and asked what the problem was. Waiting now for 45 minutes for our food was the problem. He wouldn't let us pay for the appetizer and cokes and then here comes the waiter with our
food. He looks at my husband and says, here's your food! My husband said we were leaving and then the hapless waiter says, what am I to do with this food? We left and went to McDonald's. My question to Corporate: What in the world were your Hostess and wait staff doing hanging out in the back room. No one took our distress seriously. Do you not find it necessary to have a Hostess out front to perhaps take money from people who would like to pay or perhaps seat customers?! There is no excuse for this poor service. We will not be going back to Applebees again. We are fortunate to have a new restaurant in Sequim. Black Bear Cafe. We went there first and it was packed. They have better food and better service than Applebees, so that is now our go to restaurant. Waiting for a table there is worth it.

    1. As an ex waitress for Applebees, if we are in the back, we are often talking to the cook about your order to try to hurry things along, if we have experience cooking there we may jump on to help cook and get the food out to you, sometimes we are in the back complaining to the manager for you about your wait time, or to see if food needs to get taken to other tables so as the food doesn't get cold. It sucks I know. I'm not sticking up for Applebees, because I had a terrible work experience there, but if your order is taking that long, we are def in the back raising hell about your food

  49. Are you folks aware that there was a complaint......a very serious, unforgivable, complaint sent in to Fox59 WXIN Indianapolis. It is posted on Facebook and has already had over 27,000 reads and over 5,000 responses ...... and these responses are in total agreement with the guest and in total disbelief, anger, and unforgivable reaction towards a manager at one of your restaurants on Washington Street or Avenue. The managers treatment of a handicapped guest and family was awful and has happened before. I was not there nor do I live anywhere near Indianapolis but read the article and could not believe what I read. I love Applebees and eat there all the time in my home town and never thought a manager could act like this. You are a family friendly place and there is no place for this female manager. Ihave been a restaurant manager for many years and never never would this behavior be tolerated. I am writing this because I love your place and dont think that anyone there would tolerate this or want Applebees to be known for this type of treatment towards any guest especially handicapped. My mom and dad are both in walkers and wheelchairs and I would not want to think that one day my visit with them could turn into this guests visit. My location is wonderful right now but this level of manager, or nonmanager I should say, could end up anywhere. Please not at an Applebees. Thank you and I sincerely hope that you will look into this. There are alot of people, 27,000 and climbing, that are reading a very awful, and rightfully so, reflection of your restaurant.

I would like to take the time to share an experience i had at the Applebees on Washington street in front of the Kmart. My mother was taking the family to dinner to celebrate the last night with them before i went off to college. My grandmother on my moms side has had a massive stroke many years ago leaving her with only mobility i her left side and in a wheel chair. The worst part is that she cannot talk so trying to understand her can be difficult, however she loves Applebees.
We went in and more handicap accessible side was very empty holding five empty tables. The other side of the restaurant was PACKED with people. I walked up to the hostess and told her their will be five but one is in a wheel chair, she smiled and said, "let me look." As the hostess turned to look around the women manager who was much much older walked up and snatched the menus from the hostess which surprised us all and told us we will have to seat her in the middle of the aisle on the busy side. My mother said, "we cannot do that she will get bumped and be in peoples way. Can't we sit at an empty table on the empty side," the mangers reply through us all, "I dont want to have to put table together nor do i have the room for her."
This was the same manger who has seaten my family many times and always made my HANDICAP grandmother sit in an isle and get hit, bumped into and made to feel like she was in the way. We left the restaurant without eating because it is not okay to make a handicap feel like she is in the way and such a problem! I believe this manger should be spoken to! THIS WAS SENT TO FACEBOOK TODAY.

    1. Sunday August 26, 2012 6:00 pm. Went to Applebees Summersville, WV. Wanted a good steak for dining. My friend and I decided to try our neighborhood Applebees. For the 4th time in a row we were very disappointed. I ordered a 12oz. Ribeye medium rare, no potato, wanted double vegetables. It took from 6:10 when the order was placed 28 minutes to get our food. The steak was very overcooked and like shoe soles, the double vegetables came to the tune of 6 pcs. of brocolli, 5 half pcs. of zucchini and 1 carrot. That my friends was a double order of vegetables. My days for visiting Applebees are over. The managers tried to tell me this is not common place, but folks 4 times in a row, get real it has to happen to more people than us. Its a shame Summersville really could use a great place to eat have a few laughs, but the quality of service and food JUST SUCKS. The food was edible, but you want what you pay for, not the Grill cooks screwups. I did pay for what I ate, but refuse to ever go back. Maybe just maybe if enough people unite and stand up for whats right, complain enough, Coporate Applebees will make some much needed Changes for the better at our store. Steve Mink

  51. Regarding the family in Indianapolis who went to Applebees on Washington St in front of KMart. Corporate should step in and FIRE THE HOSTESS !!! I am in my 60's and would NEVER put up with that type of attitude. It is sad to say that if the Corp Office doesn't do anything I may never eat at another Applebees again. The customer always comes first and your employees should ALWAYS be NICE, FRIENDLY, COURTIEST AND MOST OF ALL HELPFUL. I feel there is not room for mean, unfriendly, or just plain rude employees! To the Hostess, I am sorry that those people bothered you that day. You sound like a real WITCH !!

  54. Union NJ on Mooris Ave service was horrendous. We were a party of 7 and all were discussed with the service not only of our waiter but also the manager. The appetizers were served and I never recieved mine, when they brought out the entrees they decided to being out my meal and my appetizer. The waiter tells a fellow co worker take the meal back into the kitchen and put it under the warmer until he's done with his appetizer. After waiting a total of 60 minutes I instructed them I no longer wanted my entree, the managers response was " I'll take it off the bill " really so i guess since I was not African American I could not get an apologie. The table besides us with 2 African American couples were not happy with there service and were offered free desert and a gift card but they declined. So i guess since my skin tone was lighter than his I did not qualify for an apologie or the other offers offered to African Americans.

  56. I went to APPLEBEES located on INDIANTOWN RD, JUPITER, FL last week with my daughter for lunch. We ordered 2 salads, 1 Bloody Mary & 1 Shirley Temple. Bill came to 33.00+/-. I gave my bank card & checked out. When I got to my car I realized it was pricey..(my fault, but wouldn't have made diff after you read their "fix"). Went back in & advised waitress of wrong bill charged to my card. Long story short, took her, MGR & someone else to try and credit my card total bill n recharge for what we ordered, They still couldn't get it right. After 30 mins I said "what's done is done, just give me a gift card/CREDIT for overcharge". So they happily gave me a 25.00 gift card, well over what I was overcharged but given the inconvenience of everything, I took & called it a day. Well, let me tell you something about their "we screwed up & will make right via gift card policy" ITS TOTAL BULL SH&T! A week later I decided to use "said Gift Card" & ordered $20.65 worth of food. Guess what? I didn't receive $4.35 credit to spend another time! I was told "that's the way it works" Really? what if I ordered a $10.00 sandwich? Am I screwed out of the $15 left? Their policy on making things right is BS, they screw you over again n again. Horrible, incompetent staff, I will never go there again & will happily voice my opinion to everyone I come across!!!!!!

  57. This evening my boyfriend and I tried to have dinner at Applebees in Gaffney, SC. First of all we sat in the smoking section because there was a long wait for non smoking. We were eventually seated. We ordered, tea for me and a 33 oz beer in a mug for him. Drinks came. Then we ordered dinner. I ordered the 7 oz serloin with fried shrimp, loaded baked potato with veggies and my boyfriend, the ribeye with parmesan cheese and shrimp, loaded bake potato with veggies. While half way into my meal, I noticed a plastic cap of some sort underneath my veggies. I showed it to my boyfriend and he immediately called for our server. David is his name, saw the cap in my plate and immediately picked the plate up while apologizing as he was walking away. He showed a manager who's name is Brenda. She then came to our table, explained what the cap came off of and began to apologize. She offered me another meal for free. While waiting on the meal my boyfriend picked up his beer to notice a bug was in it. Nevertheless, the entire meal was free and I WON'T be dining there again. Now we have to drive nearly 25 miles away if we were to eat at another Applebees!!!

  59. Not that any of the corporate peeps actually read this blog, but here goes. 09/12/2012, took the family to the applebee's in Salinas, CA. ordered the kids food, and an appetizer. then ordered my wife's and my food. kids food and app came out. great. then my wife's and my food came out. wife's food was great. my steak, fries and rice pilaf. first issue was that the steak toppers were not all there, then the rice pilaf was crunchy. so sent the whole entre back. got half my entre back a few minutes later and it had been scraped onto a new cold plate, with the crunchy rice sprinkled all over the steak and fries. then a couple minutes later got my rice back, same crunchy rice re-heated on a new plate. needless to say, i refused to pay for my entre and sent it back to the kitchen and informed the manager that i would not be coming back to the establishment ever again. manager's attempt to win us back was an envelope with something in it. didn't bother to even look. too disgusted. ate fast food for dinner when i had my mind set on a steak. just a little info for you higher up's. my family used to frequent this location every wednesday for about five years. then the service fell off and we took a year off. heard that the management had changed, so we decided to give it another try and low and behold this is the type of treatment that we got. i felt utterly dis-respected and disgusted. i don't expect five star service, but i do expect some standards. this was just over the top. i had a gut feeling that i should have passed applebees up and went to outback, but took a chance and let it be know, i will not make that mistake again. i would rather go up the street and pay a few more bucks and spend a bit more fuel to get great service and great food rather than be treated like i'm scum. so so long applebee's. told all my facebook friends about the experience as well and you won't belive the responses that i have recieved regarding this terrible situation.

We go to the Applebees on Haggery, in Walled Lake, MI.This is the second time in a month that we have had a bad experience. The food was just OK at best, even the appetizers are not as good as they used to be. The waiters and waitresses did not act professional at all. Also, they knew there was a birthday at our table and brought the desert and we had to ASK for them to sing the birthday song which was the reason the birthday person wanted to go there. The waitress then dragged over people that were sweeping and they sang the song as quick as they possibly could. It was really not a great experience and we will not go back.

I pay the price to get what I want or I can just go to Mc Donalds to get something quick and even they have never ran out of food. I asked the waitress just what did they have, we ordered what we wanted and did not have said what will management do for us becasue of the inconvience. Another waitress looked like a assistant manager came over and said I dont know who told you we had they but we are out and she had a low cut dress with tats on her chest, nice, would want my kids to see that but when I got my steak the manager came over and said whats the problem with the steak and I said well its over cooked and they cut into it with a knife to check it which is a big non no in cooking. He said the waitress will not be over anymore your being too pretentious I said what? I then told him we all have a bad day and the waitress was ok, but his comment was not correct for a manager and no effort was made apologise for anything or to say what can we do to make this up? Very poor will not ever eat at Applebees again and will post wherever I can to let people know about how the customers are being treated. 64. COVINGTON, GA- A Georgia woman says a restaurant manager called police after becoming upset that she was breast-feeding her child in a booth.
Dawn Holland says she was nursing her 20-month-old son in the back of an Applebee's restaurant in Covington southeast of Atlanta when the manager told her to breast-feed in the bathroom or leave. Holland says the manager called police when she refused.
WXIA-TV reports (http://on.11alive.com/OBERcL) an officer responded to the restaurant Saturday, but decided not to file an incident report after hearing both sides. Holland says she felt humiliated and left the restaurant without eating.
Applebee's corporate office later released a statement saying the chain strives to provide a comfortable environment for customers "including nursing mothers who have the right to nurse in public."

  65. I live in Covington, Georgia, and went to your Covington, Georgia, location recently only to be subjected to a woman with a crying baby who was being breast feed in the dining area. Please!

When I went there to eat, have a drink and relax a little with others, I didn't expect to be subjected to watching a side show. I uphold your manager's decision to ask the woman to not expose herself in the eating area. She was asked to find a better place to feed the baby. I don't uphold your decision to NOT support your employee's decision. Don't I have rights in your shop too? I bet we spent more money there than the woman did. If that child was so hungry, the mother should have fed it before she came into the restaurant to feed herself. What's next? Changing a diaper on the table because it has a flat surface? The woman was grand-standing; looking for some sort of self-gratification.

You're a private business and should have the right (or used to have the right) to set the rules for your establishment. All patrons should be treated equally. Were you forced to allow this by government regulation or did corporate get scared and cave in to the woman for fear of bad press or litigtion.? If this is a corporate policy you might want to re-think it. Should we have threatened to sue or call the media about our rights as well?

I won't spend my money with you again. Its embarrassing to be eating at an Applebee's with a date and people you don't know very well ahd have a woman flop her breast out at the table. She made no secret of what she was atempting to do. She was not discrete. My friends and I discussed this and decided that we won't eat at an Applebee's again. Our money is hard earned and we don't want to pay to be abused in this way again.

Thank you for the opportunity to have an equal say in this matter.

  66. I have worked at Applebees for nearly a year. I have been yelled at in front of employees and customers as well. The first time it happened when I was still new. She came and yelled at me in front of customers about accidentally triple seating a server. I was still learning the table numbers and sections and apologized to the server. The second time it happened I thought I heard her say "clear table 22" so I did. Apperently that table was not done with their food when I told her I had cleared it she yelled at me that she told me not to do that. I was so embarrased I wanted to cry and walk out. Instead, I went to the table and apologized to the lady and her little girl who were very sweet and understanding, and told them their food would be right out. It was a simple fixable mistake. It's not the end of the world and employees DO NOT deserve to be treated like that. Our General Manager also yells a lot and is very rude sometimes. We employees want the same curtousy you expect from us. Yelling at us will not make things better and it makes you look like a bad company when you do it in front of customers. I am calling the coorperate office and if something is not done about it then the better business bearue will be involved. If I lose my job for this I will be suing.

    1. I don't see Applebee's Restaurants being around in the next ten years, I am always hearing bad things about Applebee's Restaurants. They are getting a bad rep and it's because how things are being ran. They hire young teenagers, and adults that don't care about anything, these people they hire are sex offenders, drug dealers, drop outs, and just about anything that other employers won't hire. Applebees restaurants need to start being more cautious of who they hire. I mean don't get me wrong there are people out there that have made mistakes and are trying to get their life together and there is also good people they hire to, they just need to be more cautious. I have a family member that use to work for Applebees and that person told me some crazy things that goes on in the back. Drug deals, sex, sexual harassment, and much more and I have heard it from several other people to. That's why people are getting bad service, your employees are to busy getting high, having sex, sexually harassing each other, doing drug deals, it's all while they are working, and the managers know it's going on. That kind of activity is going to bring Applebees down fast!! Investigate it, do drug screening, do back ground checks, and WATCH closely. Its going on right in front of you, watch the camera', and put a camera out back where you keep your dumpsters, and where your employee's park.

OMG!! This place is a dive and it just opened up! Unlike Ted I did try to go back for the second time and it was worse then the first time. The first time I went I got a slow waitress that did not understand english and she kept going to find someone that understood what I was saying and the food still did not come out right and tasted bad. This time it all started well, our waiter was very nice. Then they set a family right across from us with a baby in a high chair in the isle. So the waiters started bottle necking when they past our table haveing to lean towards us when the pass or triping over the high chair. Thought we would be wearing our food before it came out. Well after waiting for our food forever they brought out mine and my husbands food and not our small grandchildrens. They said oh, we dropped their food and it will be a bit before their food is ready. REALLLY? Little kids are hungry and you are going to serve our food and we are going to eat in front of them? NO! Well we had to share our food (Which was split between the both of us to start with) with the kids because they are hungry. We ask for mustard and mayo and when we opened the mustard bottle the top where the mustard comes out was brown poop color and nothing would come out it was gross. Well we called over the Mgr. Mike (OMG, where did you find him) All he could say is oh the food spilled and we are getting them more food and I will get you another mustard. My husband and I looked at each other with a blank face not believing this person that's call a Manager acting like this is the norm here. Well the kids food came and guess what, they were not hungry! They picked at a few pieces and we tryed to eat a couple of bites but this experience was over for me. We received the bill and yes paid for everything. We had Mike come back over and my husband gave him the rath of H@!! that he did not care about customer service. It took us telling hime we are reporting him to his management for him to say What can I do to make this right? DUH! You should have thought about this before. Well we were leaving and granddaughter had to go to the restroom. We entered the rest room and I would not even let her use it it was so nasty. Our feet were sticking to the floor like it had syrup on it. We left the bathroom and I could hear my feet sticking to the floor the whole way out of the resturant. I have wanted a Applebees in Rowlett for ever and now that it's here I will still go to Rockwall, Garland before I cross the door of that place again.

Last night myself & 1 other friends paid our bill in cash @ the Grapevine Mills Mall location. Mine was $14.06 & the other person was $11.90. The waitress rounded mine down to $14.00 but round other up to $12.00. At least the waitress was kind enough to explain she had no access to coins to make change. We called manager over to confirm this practice since this is 2nd time this has occurred at an Applebee’s. Manager said it is up to wait staff to have change available otherwise round up or down the bill. The 1st time this happen was at location on FM3040 in Lewisville. But that manager says it was against company policy & said he would speak with wait staff to be sure it did not happen again. Now in these 2 cases it was only 10 cents round up but I know of other people who been round up by 75 cents. Also if wait staff does not have enough bills for change you could wait up to 10 minutes while they try to make change. Why does Applebee not have cashier?

After hearing back from corportate & top management of Grapevine location we recieved $10 each off our next meal. So we decide to go to dinner last night. It took nearly 10 minutes for waitress to make change! Applebees is not winning points with me!

  73. I have been going into the Applebee's in Crawfordsville,IN for years and every time it rains they always lock one door. Once I walk in the other door I saw why they had the door locked. They have water rushing user the door because there is no seal on the bottom of the door. I asked one of the hosts why they haven't done anything about and they say the managers dont want to deal with it and while I was waiting on my food I noticed the hosts were mopping up the water and using a sqeege to push it outside all while trying to seat guests. I honestly think this needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt by this ignorance. Also when I was returning from the restroom I tripped on a step that the rubber mat that covers the steps. Those are just a few issues with that restaurant.

  74. Can you believe I called and spoke to the Corporate Office and they had the area manager, who was the subject of my complaint to call me because his boss, Steve, does not take complaints? AMAZING! I WILL NEVER GO TO APPLEBEE'S or IHOP again! I should have gone to Outback, right up the street instead and I will not make that mistake again. APPLEBEE'S CARES SO LITTLE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS I WOULD NOT TAKE THE CHANCE OF EATING THE FOOD PREPARED THERE! Apparently, from the other complaints on this site, this is normal for Applebee's. They did not use to be this way. Management needs to change. I will make sure no one I know or meet in the future eats at Applebee's...where customers don't matter!

  75. I have been reading all these negative comments and I just wanted to say that my family LOVES Applebee's. We primarily go the Antioch Rd. location in Gladstone, MO. because the servers and managers are so friendly and accomodating. Do they occasionally get something in the order wrong? Sure, but they always rectify the situation. After all, aren't we all fallible human beings? Nobody is perfect. I would recommend Applebee's to all my friends.

  76. I want someone from your corp office to check out the Michigan City Indiana Applebee's we went there last friday night,Oct5, 2012. We were seated promptly but we noticed everyone around us was all complaining of waiting for there meals. So we waited for one and half hours to get our meal and out appetizers. What made it the worst was my son steak was suppose to be rare it was cooked to death, the wonton taco were not even made right, and I didnt even get me dinner the waiter gave it to the next table. The manager that was on duty that night only thing she said was I'm so sorry. I dont want any free food I just want you to get new management in there until then we will not be going to our local Applebee's.

This is in reference to the evening of 10/19/2012 and the applebees in St Coud Minnesota a customer had a heart attack in the restraunt and as a result died at the table the parametics had been called but could do nothing for the person The man laided on the floor for several hours as it took 2hours for the cornor to get to the restraunt and release the body. The district manger was called and arrived with his starbucks coffee and was advised by the employees that they should close ,he made a phone call to his superior a Katie something and they made a decision to keep the place open with the dead body of the man, and his wife being disrespected by a loud bar full of drinking CUSTOMERS. The employees were uneasy and were not comfortable with the situation, but, the disrespectful district manager and his moneygrubing boss could careless lets just put a sheet over the door to the room where he is at and its buisness as usual.
I have never in my life seen anything so disrespectful as what this managment upper personal deciding to keep ths place open.
I do hope the family of the man sues Applebee.
I use to like applebees and hold them in the highest, but, after what I witnessed they are lower then a skidrow bar money is not that important greed is horrible.

    1. That is truly a sad situation. I can't imagine them keeping the restaurant open! It's amazing how much money controls people. I know they would have lost some money but they would have probably broke even with the amount of waste they would have saved that night too!

  78. I went to an Applebee's in Evansville, IN with several friends from church to celebrate a birthday. Our waitress was nice and tried really hard to get our orders correct. They sat us at a long table. At this table we had approx. 21 people including children. There were two servers. The table was basically split in the middle. The waiter took 9 orders. The waitress took the rest of the orders. More people from our church came in and sat at 3 separate booths. The waiter took those orders, approx. 15 more people. Food began to arrive. However, the food for 9 adults and 3 kids never came out! I am one of those 9 adults and my 12 yr old son was one of the kids. Even the food for the 3 separate booths came out before ours!! It took 1.5 hours before our food came out. We had been waiting patiently thinking that they were just backed up with 30+ orders in the kitchen. There were only 3 other tables in the entire restaurant!!! After our food finally came out,1.5 hours after we ordered it, it was wrong, cold and just not edible. We complained to the waitress and she went and told her manager. That manager told us the "computer had crashed and everything had to be put in manually." Fine, but why did other orders that were put in after ours come out before ours?! No explanation. The bill came with a small discount. Not acceptable. When we talked to the manager, she proceeded to get another manager who tried to explain that they are "only allowed to give 40% discount". We complained more. He then said he would give us our desserts for free. Only 2 people had ordered dessert. They were happy. He took off our drinks. When I asked for the corporate number he gave me the store phone number and then wanted a specific time as to when I would be calling! (Did he think I was gonna give him a specific time so he could pretend to be the GM and continue to make excuses?!) I am terribly disappointed with the food and the management at Applebees, in Evansville. They should have given us our food for free since it was basically inedible. They gave everyone at the table, even those whose food was served piping hot and on time, a discount. If they had not given the entire table a discount, maybe they could have been more willing to give us a greater discount. Afterall, they were not inconvenienced. It will be a long long time before I go to another Applebee's. They could have offered a coupon for a free appetizer for our next meal or something. What ever happened to the customer is always right?

  79. Corp, Are you really going to let GM Jenny in Ashland Ky fire a waitress/bartender because she was on her cell calling her mom who had breast cancer surgery? What was Jenny's excuse for being on her cell at the bar mins before she fired that poor girl. You need to drop Jenny down a few levels and put her back in training.A good GM wouldn't have done that. Unless she is removed my family and friends will not eat at a Applebees while she is the GM..If that was my mom I would have done the same thing and everyone at Corp. would too..So many people are out of work and looking for a job and could fill her shoes as GM.

  80. Second and LAST visit to the Applebee's @ 104th in Northglenn, CO. Service poor, food inedible, manager condecending and with attitude (inappropriate). Mother is 90 and has chewing issues which normally at other Applebee's locations around town the staff is helpful, friendly and very customer conscious. This particular location is becoming notorious for poor service. This last visit we were among the first customers of the day arriving at exactly 11:00 am when they opened. We watched and waited for 45 minutes while others seated around us after we were seated were served. After 45 minutes I asked the waitress to pack our meal into To Go boxes so we could make a noon appointment elsewhere. When we complained to the manager she was condescending and downright snyde. We love Applebee's but will never go back to that location.

  82. My wife and I are frequent Applebees customers and love the restaurant in Danville Virginia. We recently became aware of the Reward Card through the Danville Restaurant and have used it at several other restaurants.
My youngest sons birthday was Friday but we celebrated today at the Applebees in Burlington, NC at 3103 Garden Road in Burlington. There were 11 in our group with my oldest sons family joining us. Service was great during the first part of our meal but then disappeared. My food was warm at best but otherwise good. MY complaint was when I showed the waitress out Rewards Card she thought it was a Gift Card and soon came back to tell me it wasn't any good. When I told her that the card was a Rewards Card she didn't know what that was. The manager then came over and said that their store didn't participate in the program and could not add our purchase to the card.
I know that it say on the back of the card that not all store participate in the Rewards program but they should at least be able to add the points to your card.
Come on Applebees, I expect better.
    Thank You,

  83. Talked my husband into going to Applebees last night, in South County, Rhode Island, it was awful! No reflection on our waitress she did what she could. She was more professional then the manager.
We waited approximately 15 mins to get service, 3 different types of beers my husband ordered, they did not have, not a big deal but if you dont have the beer for sale you may want to change your taps to not show that select beer. After ordering it it took another 5 mins to get it. Long time for just a beer. We were eating light, had just been through a helluva storm and were trying to relax a bit. His order was salad, soup and wings. He asked that he have his soup first, he wanted something hot to put in his stomach, the wings and salad to have when my dinner came out, to dine together. Well, he received his wings after about 15 mins...he let then sit, he wanted them as his meal to eat with me. He flagged down the waitress, she was too busy to check in with us, poor planning on the restraunts part, and asked for his soup. His soup came about 10 mins later and it was almost cold. Soup has to be hot to be good. He flagged down the manager, waitress was way to busy and asked him if he would please get him some hot soup. The manager sent him an accusatory look, as if we dont know hot soup when we have it and reluctantly took his bowl of soup. The soup came right back to him within minutes, he was thrilled! Well, apparently, the manager didnt' do anything with the soup, just brought it back to him. The manager could've corrected the cold soup issue, he choose to ignore the fact it was cold. We flagged down the waitress again, apologized to her that we were leaving, asked he to feel the temperature of the soup since he wasnt going to be eating it anyway and she apologized for it not being hot. She offered to take it back and we explained we had already gone that route. We gave her a tip, excused ourselves and left.
Won't be going there again. Was a bad choice on my part!
This manager needs customer service training in a big way if they dont want to continue to loose business. This also reflects on the franchise.

  91. Well the entire night was absolutely awful. We went to the Applebees in Cherry Hill, NJ on Haddonfield Road. We had a party of 10 and when we arrived, we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. We checked on the wait about 45 mins later and were told it would be another 10-15 mins. Finally, after waiting an hour and 15 mins, we finally were brought in to be seated. Only to then find out, they were putting us at two separate tables! They would not let us put two tables together so we could all at least sit together. They never said to us that we would be sitting separately and the manager, Keith, was very rude about not being able to accomodate us. We finally got it all situated and ordered our food. The entire time we were there, our waitress Kristina, never smiled and was not friendly to us at all. We were also receiving very dirty looks across the restaurant the entire time we were there from the hostesses. The one person that was with us, found a hair cooked into his red potatoes and pulled it from out of his mouth. When we told the waitress about it, she made it seem like we were just trying to complain and were wasting her time. She rudely asked us why we did not inform the girl cleaning up the table because it seemed that Kristina did not want to have to deal with it. Originally at the beginning, we had asked Kristina to have us all on separate checks. She brought the check with everyones orders together. Since we were originally a party of 10, they charged the 18% gratuity to us. I asked to then speak to the manager again and stated that we had already asked for separate checks and that it did not seem fair that we were getting charged the additional 18% gratuity when we were no longer a party of 10. He stated that he couldn't do anything and stood up and walked away. Kristina then came back with the checks split, but had individual checks for each separate person. She ended up getting two of our checks mixed up and charged me the wrong amount. When she was explaining the mix-up to me, it went from 9 cents to a 7 dollar difference. It was extremely frustrating because she was being very rude about the entire thing when she screwed up to begin with. To then correct it, they were going to void it off of my card and start again. That to me did not seem fair because then it would have the money pending for 3-5 days and I would be without the money almost two times the original check for about a week. The manager Keith came back over again to explain everything and was extremely rude to us through the entire ordeal. Everything was finally straightened out with the check and I am just very frustrated at how it all went down. The biggest issue that I have is that through this entire experience, I never got one apology from Kristina or Keith. The staff and management were very rude and ignorant towards the entire party.

  96. This following letter was mailed to the Kansas City Office on September 18, 2012. I did not ask for anything, but expected a reply with some type of concern about the incident or an apology.

    Applebee's Services, Inc.
    8140 Ward Parkway
    Kansas City, MO 64114

    Dear Customer Service.

This is to advise you of an incident in which I was totally dissatisfied with the actions of the manager at the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar located at 5908 18th Street East, Ellenton, Fl.

I and my wife have been eating at the Bradenton Applebee’s at least 3 times a month. As per enclosed receipt on Sept. 09, 2012, I took my brother and wife who were visiting from Tucson, Az. to the Ellenton Applebee’s.

My wife ordered a house salad and while eating she found a mosquito type bug in the salad. We notified the manager he examined the bug and took it with him along with the salad. He did ask if she wanted a new salad. My wife declined and nothing else was offered.

To our surprise, when we got the bill, it contained the charge for the salad as noted in the enclosed bill. Common sense would call for the manager to remove the charge of the salad. I complained to the waitress who was observed talking to the manager. It took her about five-seven minutes to come back with a corrected bill. The manager did not show any great concern and never came back to apologize or to check on our table or service.

I need to stipulate that the waitress named SONIA was totally professional, very courteous, provided us with a friendly atmosphere.
I look forward to continue as a loyal customer and hope that this was an isolated incident.

    Cordially,

    10502 Old Grove Circle

  98. I have just read that Applebees is one of the insensitive and uncaring corporations which is reducing hiring, and in some cases reducing jobs at various restaurants, as a punitive response to Obamacare. Rather than SEE if their costs actually go up, regardless of the fact that OMB says costs will go down due to a larger pool, they are acting no better than their standard-bearer, Romney, and being atrocious corporate citizens.
I have been a loyal Applebees customer for many many years, always insisting that any "dining out" within my family and friends be done at their restaurants.
Well, no more. I will not tacitly condone such egregious behavior by funding same with my dining dollars.
I thought Applebees was a good organization. Turns out they are an atrocious one!

Our waitress would not come by the table; food was delivered or slapped down on the table by another waitress; both were unable to answer our questions and the food delivered was not what we ordered. Our food took almost 30 minutes to deliver and then only after we flagged someone down. The manager was busy at the bar playing with the remote controls and did not seem to care. When we paid we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the waitress to return with the change. We were not thanked for coming in nor were we inviyted back. Very disappointing.

I usually eat at the Applebee's during every visit since 2009. Well my order on Nov 27th was not very good when I brought it back to my hotel. It was cold and the vegetables were raw! I figured this was a one time mistake and ordered again tonight. The service was poor and when I returned to my hotel my order was incorrect. I ordered the "classic wings" I got boneless wings. I told the woman that took my order that I did not get the correct wings. She told me the classic wings were boneless and I should have asked for "in bone" wings. I looked on the menu and did not see "inbone" wings. The manager sent the correct wings to my hotel. But it had already put a damper on things. Needless to say I did not enjoy my food and will not order from Applebees for my next visit.

  102. I work for applebee's also and I am just a GU and I am really disgusted with my manager. He has belittled me and I know it is suppo0sed to be all in good fun but I have worked for this place for two years and seen no raise or anything at all. I have had appreciation dinners for coming to their aid a lot and still no raise. He tells me that the reason why I have not gotten a raise is because I do all my work half way. I do my job to the best of my abilities. I work for them when they need me and I ask for a raise and I get shot down. They had a trainer's meeting. I was not certified and so I could not go. I trained everyone after I hired on and my (trainer) left and went back to florida.
I am npot happy with this at all. I even went and started into College to get myself a better position elsewhere. It only makes sense when you ask for something and not get it. I asked to be cross trained and I got that for about 15 minutes. I wonder what is next?
There was a mangement position open and again I got passed over. I am studying business and Management is what I am going for. The sooner I get my degree I think I will be better off.

  103. I would like to post a complaint about the Applebees resturant in Hiram Georgia. My friend and I took our children to Applebees for lunch after a church event on Saturday, upon entering the restuarnt it did not appear busy so we decided we would stay and enjoy lunch. It took the server about 10 minutes to acknowledge the table, We overlooked that, the drink order was taken and then we waited for the server to come back for the food order. Finally the order for food was taken after about 30 minutes of beinfg in the restuarant, a family that came in after us about 15 mins got all of there food before any of our food came, oh yeah let me tell you the server comes out and says that she was just informed that they did not have any hotdog buns to accomodate my kids meal. Needless to say I was very unsatisfied at this point, so I asked or the manager to come to the table, the food stareted to slowly come out, upon receiving the food my chidrens hot dogs were cold and my chilli was too. The server apologize and went to tell the manager a second time to come to the table. while the guest behind us had there hot food the manager still has not made it to my trable, it was about 20 minutes later that she decides to make an appaerance. she was unconcerned about the complaint, she went as far as to tell us that she would slap the server if the food did not come out correct this time. I though t that was very unprofessional on her part, you do not disclose that type of behavior in front of a guest. She told us that she would take car eof the bill, nevertheless we still recieved a bill, and were talked about from the other servers with the manager. I will never go to another Applebees ever.

  104. I have no complaint against Applebee's in general. My complaint is about their recent removal of my absolute favorite dessert, the Maple Butter Blondie, from their menu. And to make it worse the servers I asked about it all said, "I know, and we sold a LOT of these!" I rest my case! It was a dessert very different from everyone else's menu and now I can't get it anymore. I often would just go in for drinks and dessert, but I won't be doing that anymore unless they bring my Blondie back!

When we walked in the restaurant, we stood to be seated for about two minutes and in walked a party of four white individuals. The Applebee's staff member immediately came out and escorted the party of four to their table and left my boyfriend and I standing trying to figure out what was going on. I requested to speak to the manager who quickly dismissed the situation. At no point did the manager try to remedy the situation. My boyfriend and I left the place thereafter. 109. we went to applebees tonight and one of the ladies asked for a side salad, they quit serving a house salad as a side, what the heck is that? there was 5 of us, my husband and our male friend's food came out cold, not warm,C-O-L-D. they sent it back,,,, i ordered my steak medium, it came raw, i ate it anyway because i was hungry,,, we ask for fried mushrooms, they do not carry those, but they have fried green beans (never heard of those before) but they were good,no fried pickles either.the managers walk the floor, but only talk to you while tring to eat, why not come over and welcome the guests while waiting for their food to come so they know you are glad to see them. this was a horrible visit to Aaalebee.s in Riverview, Fl

  110. Applebee's in Delafield Wi...!! I have spent over $500.00 in gift cards for Applebee's for family Christmas 2012. Poor service, long wait, food came at different times so some were done eating before the others food arrived, some food was cold and soggy. ....etc !! In addition to that, they made us pay extra for tip (What? They don't deserve what they wanted, not to mention service fee? Taxes etc..) !! I got tired of arguing and had to pay an additional $18.00 over and above gift cards which we had made allowances for tip, etc...!! NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS TO APPLEBEE'S IN DELAFIELD, WI.

  111. On Dec. 30 my family and I stopped for a late lunch at the Sonora, CA Applebee's. We had a party of 12 however there were 5 individual tabs for the meals. The service was excellent and the waitress did a great job. When the checks were presented they showed the meal items, tax, gratuity of 15%, and a grand total. I gave the server $20.00 for a $16.41 tab. When she returned with my change I received $6.00. I questioned her stating that I had received too much. She said that since we were a group of 8 or more that the 15% was a "suggested" gratuity but was not identified as suggested. If I hadn't noticed that fact I probably would have picked up my change and left. In effect stiffing the server out of the gratuity. She also stated that management had told all the servers not to say anything to the customers about the gratuity. At the very least the tab should be printed to state "suggested gratuity" or "gratuity not included". Most customers assume that when a gratuity is listed on the ticket, and a total at the bottom has that amount included, that a seperate tip does not need to be added. Servers are generally paid minimum wage plus tips. I talked to the local management and was informed it was corporate policy. If it is it should be changed. I was assured that they would inform corporate of my concern. It seems to me that corporate is taking advantage of the individuals who provide the service, meet your customers and provide your profits.

  112. my fiance works at the applebees in southridge, west virginia, so I am there a lot. since the first of the year, we have noticed that the managment is hiring A LOT of new people for every position. we have also noticed that right after the employees train the new people on their positions, the full time workers for no apparent reason are getting fired. as of the first, the new people hired are not allowed to have more than 28 hours a week, therefore they are all part time. the obamacare plan requires all companies to pay more for their full time workers and we are starting to believe that applebees is becoming so cheap that they don't want to pay a little extra to keep their hard working full time employees. I have a friend who has worked there for 5 years and he has never gotten wrote up for anything, but after the first, he got wrote up 4 times in 1 week......a little pety I think. also, to add to my complaint, I was sitting in the dining room 2 nights ago waiting for my fiance to get off work and one of the waiters was bragging about getting marijuana as a tip from one of his tables. I told my fiance about this and he went to his closing manager to get corporate's number from him to call about this and he refused to give the number to my fiance. the next day, my fiance was called into the office by his general manager only to get screamed at for asking for corporate's number. he was told that it wasn't any of his business and he needed to butt out of it and stop trying to cause problems. it is sad that a general manager condones his employees getting tipped in drugs, yet he fires the ones who do their jobs the right way to save the company money. also, tonight my fiance called me and told me that he overheard his general manager talking to a restaurant manager about one of the female employees in the kitchen. he said that he was going to fire her because he don't want a "female ass" walking around who he wasn't attracted to. you would think that going over the general manager to make a complaint woould help, but that is definately not the case here. a waitress went above the general manager and told his boss about him asking her if her boyfriend "makes her pu**y wet" after talking to them in the office, she said she felt as though she was forced to put a 2 week notice in because the general manager's boss told her that she complains too much. need I mind you that the general manager at this applebees was fired from his general manager position at chilis for sexual harassment, yet he still got the job at applebees. she went in to work the next day only to be fired. they told her that they did not HAVE to let her work through her 2 weeks. there have been multiple waitresses quit because they felt uncomfortable for the way the general manager talked to them and acted around them. it's impossible to make a complaint to his bosses because they have fired everyone who makes a complaint. call me crazy, but I don't believe that this is how a company should be working. west virginia or not, this is beyond rediculous. I can only hope that someone will step in and do something about this situation before it gets any worse than it already is.

  113. Whow, after reading all these bad comments, see no point in adding another one. Was my worst experience ever in a Restaurant and will never go back....At some point they will get the message, but the bigger problem is that too many people accept inferior quality of food and serice, never complain and still go back.

  114. On 23 Jan 2013 I visited your Applebee's restaurant located at 6727 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro Ga. First, the bartender was having a conversation with a co-worker as I patiently waited for service. The bar was not clean and needed to be wiped down, a dirty knife in a bowl in plain view and paper on the floor where I sat. Needless to say my first minutes were a turn off. Finally I received service by the bartender whom I believe was to be Shannon. My initial intent was to order a platter however due to the fore mentioned areas of uncleanliness I ordered a draft beer instead.

A few moments later a manager (James) while making his rounds came to the bar and asked the bartender clean various ares. He gave her instructions to soap various areas while specifically pointing out what he would like to have done. The bartender turned her back on him while he was providing instructions and told him "whatever".

After he left and went back to the kitchen area she went and sat down and got on the phone, not once, but twice. I had to leave now because her area was dirty and I did not feel comfortable to take a chance with the food.

The manager was very calm as he attempted to do his job, however that employees' attitude was most unpleasant and most of all unprofessional. Hats off to James he didn't make a scene of the matter and I applaud his efforts to maintain high standards.

I called back to Applebee's once I got home to find out the managers name on duty and to let him know his efforts did not go un-noticed. I also informed him that I would notify Applebee's complaint line of my experience. Terrible experience and I was hungry. Your security camera should tell some of the story of the rudeness displayed by that bartender (Shannon).

  116. So I went to AppleBees in Fontana with my family for lunch. The service was okay, food tasted okay until I pulled out a huge blonde hair from my pasta. I have short brown hair so it definately was not mine! The waitress apologized and offered me something else, but I was no longer in the mood for food so I ordered dessert(I figured that was safe). When the waitress brought the bill, my meal was still on there and she had comped the dessert. I was uphauled! I asked to speak with the manager and explained to her that I should have my meal taken off and I would pay for the dessert. I told her that good customer service would be to comp the whole twenty dollars, since my husband and I got the two for twenty, but she argued with me and said it didnt work like that. My point was,was that the whole lunch experience was ruined because I didnt even get to eat, and just for the principal, she should not be charging me. She kept arguing with me, right in front of my 7 year old, it was if she couldnt even grasp the fact that our family lunch was ruined, and thats worth more than what I was paying for my lunch. She finally threw a fit and said fine, if you dont want to pay you dont have to pay. Its not that I didnt want to pay, we went there to pay. Its just horrible customer service and she should have been trying to make it right and save a customer. We ended up leaving, and will NEVER eat there again!!! I will be calling corporate on Monday for sure.

  117. I think if I were in top management at Applebee's, I would be doing everything I could to get a better Customer Satisfaction rating. After reading all these comments, I am going to add mine. I enjoy the menu offered at Applebee's but the one in Rocky Mount, NC leaves a lot to be desired in customer service. I called in a takeout a couple of weeks ago 15 minutes before I arrived. When I got there to pick up my order at the bar, I was totally ignored for about 10 minutes. Finally, one of the busy waiters that kept passing me by asked if I had been helped. I said I was had a call in order and was wanting to pick it up. He went to the back, came back and said someone was getting it together. When it was brought out to me, my salad had fallen out of the container and was inthe bottom of the bag and the soup wasn't in much better shape. The manager took it back to the kitchen and brought out a new order. Yesterday,a friend of mine and I arrived at Applebee's on our lunch hour at 12:30. We were greeted nicely and promptly by our waitress and she took our order; however, it was 35 minutes before our soup and sandwich and salad were brought to us, leaving not much time to enjoy our meal before heading back to work. I got up and asked the greeter who was the manager of this restaurant and it was quite a while before she finally came to our table and told us that there were problems in the kitchen with one of the fryers. It just appeared to me that everyone else was getting served promptly except us. The manager comped the meal for us but I didn't expect that - just expect better customer service from Applebee's as I like the food there - I hope you all get it together before another good restaurant bites the dust!

  118. Due to your firing a waitress because a greedy-then embarrassed pastor bullied the waitress, the pastor broke Applebees large group tipping policy... and when she got some press for it the pastor asked for her to be fired *and you did*... you've lost a customer. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/01/31/applebees-fires-waitress-for-exposing-pastors-give-god-10-no-tip-receipt/

  120. Regarding the current popular news story of a waitress being fired after posting a note left by a pastor, who chose not to leave a tip... I won't be eating at an Applebees again until I hear that they have done the right thing and given this woman her job back. She did nothing wrong posting a note that was clearly left with the intention of being seen. If the pastor is now embarrassed about her behavior... Good, she should be. Firing the waitress is wrong.

  121. Give that waitress her job back. If anyone was insulted it should have been her...

  122. To the poor server who got fired for ratting out the cheapskate "minister," I am sorry for your job loss. That someone would use "God" to defend indefensible behavior seems to be an all too frequent excuse, whether it is bigotry or just stingy meanness. I'm glad you posted this ridiculous and callous comment.

I have spent years in the service industry, most of them pleasant and financially successful, but there is nothing quite like being criticized for doing your job in such an unpleasant and rude fashion as this. Until recently, and I'm not sure what the laws are in the state where this happened, servers generally made a fraction of minimum wage which was added to by the gratuity. In many countries, the gratuity is automatically added to ALL checks. One of the reasons for doing this when there are more than 6 or 8 people (I've seen this happen) is that when a check gets passed around at a large party, the last person paying can 'stiff' the server.

I have spent days at my job running up and down flights of stairs, lifting trays weighing from a few to around 40 pounds (weights which would defy the abilities of the average person,) totaling hundreds of pounds per shift, entertaining, informing, tracking the needs of between from 10 to 50 people and SERVING. Just because someone makes it look easy doesn't mean it is. The average person can't do it and the only person who makes more decisions per minute than a server is an air traffic controller.

So to the "Reverend" Alois Bell, who did actually cross out the automatic gratuity, thereby 'stiffing' the server, why don't you give 18% of your income to God for the next year and get that server rehired? It would be the Christian thing to do.

And to Applebees corporate offices, I will not be using your restaurants, which I have enjoyed in the past, until you reinstate the server you fired. It wasn't good or professional behavior on the part of the server, but there was nothing but righteous and dismissive behavior on the part of the customer. The reverend got some comeuppance from someone she had decided wasn't entitled to be paid for her job. I feel the same way about her.

  126. I will never go to Applebee's again because they fired the waitress who posted the receipt online. I am glad that preacher was shamed for her ignorant actions. And I think its awful that Applebee's catered to this greedy parasite and betrayed the person who worked for them. Everyone knows that tipping is 15-20% and that wait staff don't get full hourly wages because that's how restaurant work goes. Also, if you want to be an as&*# and not tip, fine, but then don't leave a moralistic, obnoxious note. (Maybe God himself needs a raise from that miserly, judgmental brat.) Applebee's should have stood by their worker and I hope they get a bunch of poor press for this.

  127. I just read the incident where the waitress, Chelsea Welch, was fired for posting a note from a "minister" regarding her tip. Totally uncalled for. The "minister" should have been repremanded, not the waitress. Needless to say, me nor any of my family will be supporting Appleby's in the future.

The minister is a scumbag for rubbing in the fact that she was too cheap to leave a tip. Maybe that's the Christian way these days?

  130. After doing some research on Applebees business practices, I will never eat there again. The Corp staff are apposed to providing health care to their employees. They fired a staff because a pastor who didn't want to tip (with a party of 20) demanded they be fired after they reported her to the press. There are no options for vegetarians. Seems likje a bvery republican company with no sense of decency or caring for their employees. More than enough reasons to never eat there again. Frankly, I'm sorry I ever did.

  131. I had been a regular customer at our local Applebee's resturants. The staff is always friendly. I love the atmoshere and the food. However, in light of the latest regarding the firing of Ms Welch at the insistance of Ms Bell, I will not patronize Applebee's or IHOP.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Let me start off by saying that I am absolutely outraged at the treatment of former waitress, Chelsea Welch. Her being relieved of her job over what was clearly abuse at the hands of a customer, was uncalled for. Pastor Bell should have known better, as her behavior was unbecoming of a Leader in her Church. Writing a little snipet about how GOD gets 10% and the waitress shouldn't get 18%, which was an automatic gratuity that was triggered by the size of her dinner party, was petty and downright rude at best. Then, for her to complain which caused the waitress to be fired was just adding tinder to the fire. She should be ashamed of herself, just as Applebee's Corporate Officials should be ashamed of themselves for upholding this Pastor in her wrongdoing. If you promote the abuse of your staff, then it is with great sorrow, that I tell you that I can no longer patronize your restaurants and will urge others to do the same. You have most certainly lost a long time customer for life.

  133. shame on you applebee's(Applebee’s fires waitress who posted receipt from pastor complaining about auto-tip)I think you should rethink firing the waitress over maybe a little bit of bad judgement.... this Patron (Pastor as she calls her self) should be fired as I and I believe that most would say she was in the wrong and she should be upset in her self and her behaivor not the waitress's. If she didnt want it to be read then she should not have written it to begin with. I have been in the customer service industry for many years so I understand that the customer is always right policy!!!But this is really pushing it. i am very disapointed in the way you have chosen to handle this! I believe that if this were my resturaunt i would rather loose this customer then try to make her happy, in fact if she were to walk throught the doors of my resturaunt I would personally assist her back to the same door she came in through and ask her to never return. reminding her to take her 10% and stick it where the good lord blessed her...I sure hope that many more post in re: to this and if not I hope you at least read all the comments on yahoo. THE PASTOR WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DID WRONG!!! THE WAITRESS ONLY DID WHAT ANY OTHER WAITRESS OR WAITER WOULD HAVE DONE IF THEY HAD RECIEVED THE SAME TICKET. hope someone cares enough to do the right thing here! Hint call her and give her, her job back!!! cut your losses on 1 really horrible customer!! By the way I am a loyal customer to applebee's as well but untill I hear that this young lady has her job back I will not be dining at applebee's either and I hope that many follow my lead!!!

  138. As a customer to Applebee's since I was able to drive, a fomer waitress, and graduate from culinary school I find it EXTREMELY offensive that you allow your managers to fire a server for publishing a check where they were rudely tipped. The pastor signed her name to the check. If she did not want anyone to know who she was---she shouldn't have put her name down. If the back of the house, manger, server and person checking them out can see the check she signed she obviously had no problem with putting her name on it. Because she complained after it went viral you fire someone that busts their butt for you everyday and is dependant on an hourly job becaue a pastor on a salary complains because she was stupid enough to sign the check and embarrass herself. I do not believe this person was embarrassed about anything but the fact that she was busted and I highly doubt this was the first time that she pulled that stunt! I will not eat at Applebee's until an apolgy is issued to this SERVER!!!

  140. Just read you fired a waitress for posting a receipt that was given by a pastor who refused to giver her a tip for her service, but waitresses and waiters work for tips asa well as a small hourly wage. Well she has the right to post under her constitutional rights to let others know how this pastor snubbed her on her pay/tip. Now do you think that it was right she didnt receive her tip? I dont think is was rigth, even if her service was subpar a smaller tip would be better than no tip at all, what if that meant the difference in feeding a child? I will tell you one thing, as of now applebees is off limits to me my family and any friends I can tell until you correct this wrongful firing!

Managers at these places are on power trips and allow drugs and sex between employees. I know this 1st hand. I hope that everyone BOYCOTTS your establishment until this is fixed. That server needs her job back. She clearly isn't working there for the AMAZING salary she makes. I was a server for 15+ yrs. One time actually at an Applebee's. I have such empathy for this server and what she must have dealt with from this party, especially from this so-called pastor. Applebee's and it's CEO and should be ashamed of themselves. 143. Shame on you as a major corporation for allowing and permitting the termination of a server for publishing a photo of a a receipt. No one knew who this clown was until she came forth and connected her name to the church she represents. If this server had not had any previous issues that were work related, her termination is completely unfair. I guess with the economy being in its present state, you might feel that she would be easily replaced...that might be so; but you've lost another customer for your actions. You corporate suits should be ashamed of yourselves, your no better than the creep who complained about this hard working woman....you guys are incredible--you had a chance to show you had some intestinal fortitude and CHOSE to take the easy way out and hand the person who makes your restaurant what is is today....

  146. Hi there, I just discovered that you fired a waitress of yours for exercising her right to freedom of expression. You can find out what I'm talking about if you look at the article "Applebee’s fires waitress who posted receipt from pastor complaining about auto-tip" on Yahoo News.
What you did is a massive violation of personal liberties. Working as a waitress or a waiter is difficult work and firing a woman because she took a picture of something comical is a major abuse of power of the manager. I simply want to inform you that this is a reflection of how little you care for your employees rights not only as an American, but as a human being who has the fundamental human right to express their thoughts, opinions, and funny stories about their lives.
It is really simple actually, if you don't want to ruin your reputation, DON'T ACT LIKE A MONUMENTAL DICK. That includes adding injury to insult like the pastor has done. The waitress didn't ruin her reputation the pastor did, just like you have ruined yours Applebee's.

You have demonstrated that you have no respect for individual human liberties, the first amendment of the Bill of Rights, and view your employees as disposable. I'm informing you now that until such time comes that reparations have been undertaken I will not be dining at any of your establishments, and pray that you loose business. It is a shame though, because I actually enjoyed your food.

  147. hello applebee;s

just finished reading the article on the waitress that was fired for posting the reciept in st loius after the pastor wrote that nasty comment on the bill and used god to justify her actions . i think it is wrong that the waitress was fired yes maybe she didnt use good judgement but considering the crap every person who serves food to the rest of us atke in a day i think she was well with in reason to do this . we look up to the people who tend are moral line ie the pastor and for her to start this in the first place well doesnt she deserve some blame im sure she isnt being fired and have to figure out where she is going to find the money to feed her family . the pastor survives on the good will of others but then she does this and takes away from someone who clearly just tryiong to make a living i think as a corporation there needs to be some compasion for this waitress remember she is part of your organization . i can tell you right now that i do frequent your restaurants and see how hard these people work and know that part of there pay scale depends on tips i am also a firefighter and work with 3000 guys in are department alone and i will make sure this story is posted in every hall we have and will be telling every one i know about this i believe every one is worthy of redemption so do the right thing and give her the job back then i can say well they screwed up but then did the right thing and well i will be back in your restaurant but not until that happens
    thank you for yout time

Way to treat your employees for excercising their First Amendment Rights! Hey the family visit's are off the 'table' now as well. You are an embarrassment to the American Worker and let's be honest your food really isn't that good. Oh why am I doing this? Your treatment of a server who had EVERY RIGHT to post that bill from the P. O. S. "pastor" (that term is being used very loosly after reading her typical - perpetuating the stereotype- comment) who didn't tip. Well thought she didnt' - hope her parishoners realize what a total DUMB ASS she is and see that following her and her faith is a joke.

  153. I was sad to see that Applebees dismissed the waitress in St. Louis regarding her posting the receipt of the Pastor who dupped her of her tip. I thought Applebees cared more for their employees and had more class. The pastor will have to answer to God.

  154. To Whom It May Concern:

Until Chelsea Welch, the waitress who posted Pastor Alois Bell's receipt online, is hired back to her waitressing position at Applebees I will not be eating at Applebees.

The Pastor did not display the appropriate character begetting her title of 'Pastor'. Obviously, she is aware of that because she is 'embarassed' about what she did.

As I have had alot of experience in my profession dealing with Employee Rights, if what the waitress, Chelsea Welch, has stated is true, "There was nothing in the Employee Handbook concerning customer privacy" yet that is the stated reasoning for firing her, she now has a right to collect unemployment, as well as sue Applebees.

I would say, your best option would be to rehire Ms. Welch.

  155. First this company wanted to cut employees work hours so that they wouldn't have to pay healthcare due to their "so-called" fear of Obamacare. Now the firing of this waitress!! With this latest insult to one of its employees, I will never patronize Applebee again.

  156. I am here on behalf of Rachel Welch. I don't blame her for showing that Ill note this Pastor and supposed servant of God wrote to her. I will never eat at your establishment again and I hope Rachel Welch can sue your asses off for firing her the way you did. I urge the congregation of This Pastor's church to think about what If this had been their daughter Instead of Rachel and to either find a better church or throw the Pastor out of this one they attend. Sorry to say but If you follow this Pastor and her evil ways you are just as guilty as her. Rachel gave prompt courteous service and makes her living on tips. I been homeless and worked min wage and left better tips than this Pastor who I am sure Is not hurting financially. It's time ppl took a stand for fellow Americans and the working class and boycotted employers like applebees who fire employees for being wronged. I admire you Rachel Welch for showing that God awful letter this person of God wrote to you. Time this Shithole got shut down or bought out.Or either fire the mgr who fired Rachel and redo your Image and start caring about your Good employees that work their asses off everyday so you can enjoy your big Incomes and vacation homes.

  157. Time to make this pastor responsible for her actions Instead of firing Rachel Welch. I am glad she posted this Injustice for us to see. You lost my business. You treat your employees horrible and fire them for something the Pastor wrote on a note that was very unclassy and with Ill Intent. I just ask that you think about what If this been your child? and to the Pastor's church. I urge that you call for her removal or find another church. This Is a bad reflection of your church and while forgivable. This action has proven the Pastor Is not a capable leader. Her actions reflect on you. Plz do the right thing.

  158. We will no longer eat at Applebee's for firing the waitress in St. Louis for getting stiffed by a pastor. You didn't want to lose a bad customer so you you are losing many good customers. Great business decision!

  159. after hearing that you had fire this waitress for making that post do to invading the privacy of a pastor a godly woman who is supposed to give to community. I myself have been a server for 22 years and can't believe that you would not stand by your employees I have been coming to your establishment for years now my family and I at least once to twice a week but after hearing that we will no longer be back you are want our favorite restaurant and now you discuss us but it's not just me and my family will no longer be going and 90 percent of all of my friends are waiters and waitresses and they will no longer be going the nice thing is I've been posting this and people support me I will no longer be attending a restaurant as well.

  160. I was disappointed to learn about the firing of the waitress in the "pastor" incident. I was further discouraged in your company's response, afterward. It seems clear that your "neighborhood" vibe is, of course, nothing but soulless advertising. Instead of taking care of your own employee, you folded to a truly cruel and self-serving customer. Neither myself, my family, or anyone within earshot of me, will ever step foot into another one of your restaurants again, unless this matter is resolved with this waitress. In reading the comments in the news stories online, I can tell you that I am not alone. I skimmed through, what at this point, must be thousands of comments denouncing both the "pastor" and your company. Considering your fare, I'd think hard about your next move, but i wouldn't wait long. Your customers are jumping ship by the second.

  161. Rehire Chelsea Welch and apologize to her for firing her in St. Louis concerning the Pastor's Note... or we call for a NATION WIDE BOYCOTT. Waitress' work HARD FOR THEIR MONEY! IT'S WRONG TO HAVE FIRED HER. https://www.facebook.com/BoycottApplebeesUntilChelseaWelchIsRehired

  162. As an ordained minister with over twenty years experience, I ask that Chelsea Welch be rehired. Not only was Pastor Bell behaving badly as a customer, she behaved so unprofessionally as to make me wonder why she is a minister. When she chose to eat at Applebee's with a large group, she knew there would be an 18% tip because it is posted. Writing disparaging remarks to the waitress was abusive, as wait staff do not make policy. Consider the message you are sending in firing Ms. Bell. Are your staff signing on for whatever abuse any customer wants to dole out when they work for you? Workers need protection in the workplace and no, the customer is NOT always right!

  163. I'll be boycotting Applebees until Chelsea Welch is hired back and I encourage all others to do the same.
    This is just wrong.

  166. Seriously, I can't believe that the waitress who posted about the cheap pastor was fired. I will certainly spread the word about this and the appalling behavior by the franchise owner that fired her.
I have not been in the service industry for many years, but when I was, we all hated working Sundays because the church people were, for the most part, such crappy tippers.

Maybe instead of the New York franchise owner trying to institute an "obamacare" surcharge he should institute a "pastor surcharge" to ensure that the his waitstaff will earn close to a living wage.
    Disgusting!
