  1. I have been a lifetime member for over 30 years and until recently have always enjoyed being a gold card member which I have paid. I was in the Astoria Gymn on Steinway and was badly harassed by the Manager, Anestasha. My friend, Marlene Venegri was harassed last week because she stood up for herself from a member who was attaching her. So far, I have heard about 5 people complain about the harassment and abuse coming from this manager. I was told to leave the gymn promptly at 9:30 and was on my way out the door when Anestasha and the 2 girls that worked there kept coming into the locker when clearly I was walking out the door. I got very angry and told them to stop harassing me. She threatoned to suspend my membership. This manager is chasing good members I have known for the past 30 years out of the gym. She also closed the gym early at 9:00 pm and Lucille Roberts has always stayed open till 9:30 except during the Xmas Holiday. Please respond to me because I intend to contact the corporate office and make a bad complaint against this manager. I wish to remain anonymous untl I talk to the corporate office.

  3. I let my card expire and they refused to renew it just to the end of what they claim was the contract but demanded TWO years. I said no, so they wouldn't let me use the gym. Then threatened me with collections and credit damage if I didn't pay....so I'm being forced to pay AND denied the use of the gym. Also, one of the managers told me her boyfriend would be waiting outside for me (a clear threat). I'm working multiple shifts but should free up in a few days and will file a small claims lawsuit against them

  5. I am a member of the Lucille Roberts gym in Olney Plaza, Phila.
    Like I wrote on their facebook page I equate management to the "do nothing Congress" If you complain, it falls on deaf ears. I have complained about dirty floors and some of the equipment needs to be replaced. They have these heat lamps that make the place ungodly hot and they refuse to turn them off. We even asked that they just turn them off while we exercise. Nope. Someone is going to pass out from the heat. They don't care about the members.That's why as soon as I am done my 120 sessions I am leaving the place. I need to put in 120 sessions to get my gym fees back from my insurance company. They suck!!   6. I tried to cancel my membership months ago. They told me it would be canceled effective immediatly that was 6 months ago they are still billing my charge card every month! I have to call constantly to have the charge removed. Do yourself a favor dont get involved ar Lucille I am hapily a member of Planet fitness now with no contract.

  8. Lucille Roberts in Westbury is the worst! Kathy who runs the show is Queen of Mean! She is rude, disrespectful and loud! She yells at customers every day! When a new customer walks in, she sweet talks them. When her boss shows up, she acts pleasant. Otherwise, she is a screaming, out of control, raging lunatic who gossips and is extremely unprofessional. Join the gym across the street!

    2. I am now pursuing legal council due to this discrimination, and I can also back up my end with many witnesses.Several persons from this said gym have
      approached me telling me they question her mental stability. One member who has been a member for over twenty years told me they witnessed many persons leaving this gym due to Kathy Russello specifically and the attitude she brings.

  10. I am so disappointed with this Gym. The customer service is horrible. The cops had to be called one day when I was working out b/c the manager put her hands on a customer. Classes are consistently overcrowded. You pay extra to get into the Zumba classes but you have to show up an extra 20 minutes early just to get a spot and even then there is not enough room to move around. The set up of the gym itself does not work. The only restrooms and showers are down stairs but in order to get to them you have to walk through the crowded classes. If the class is too crowded they won't even let you down stairs to use the showers or restrooms. i would not recommend this gym.

I don't go to big spas only because, the Spa I'm going is using a disposable and semi permanent mat covers, instead of wiping the mats with the little wipe you cover the dirty mats, and prevent diseases I got fungi and skin infections before, but I highly recomend this spas to use it. the first time I purchased was at www.wrapamat.com if interested

  14. I have been a gold member for three years and switched locations when a closer Lucilles opened by my house. Since they opened they are constantly out of wipes. Then they began to leave a disgusting rag out for the entire gym to use with a spray bottle. After a while that was gone and they women who work there told me they will wipe the machines (which never happened). I recently went to the dermatologist because my shoulders were itchy, I was told I have a skin fungus that is usually caught from a gym! Cancelled membership

I've been a gold card member since 2002 at the Roosevelt Blvd.gym.in Phila.I was so glad to hear that we were finally getting new equipment.I always ride the bike for at least 10 miles four times a week.I asked if we were getting new bikes and was out done when I was told no.What kind of gym doesnot have bikes.Please rethink this as I am not the only one that comes just to ride the bike.My injuries won't allow me to do much else without causing pain and discomfort.Will I need to look elsewhere?

  17. New gyms are opening constantly in my area with state of the art equipment,many class options and longer hours. Some are open 24 hrs. You would think that,in light of this, Lucille Roberts would try harder to keep members happy. No, that is not the case. Lucille Roberts still offers the same old classes and in the summer many locations cut classes that members rely on. I have been a member for many, many, years but am tired of being inconvenienced. Most of us set up a schedule to make time to workout. It is very upsetting when this schedule interrupted because classes are no longer available at the usual time. Maybe it's time to look for another gym. Shame on you Lucille Roberts. You are loosing many loyal members!!!!! Bring back the 4:45afternoon classes and stop taking away 8:00 am classes in the summer and holidays.

I am trying to cancel my membership and on top of that I just found out that they lied to me and that the gym forged my signature on a contract that I never signed. It isn't even signed with my correct name spelled. The customer service is horrible. People beware!

  19. I have been trying to cancel my membership too and on top of that I just found out that the gym forged my signature on a contract. I'm calling the city to let them know now. The customer service guy told me that I have to pay for an additional month because of a contract that I actually never signed. The lady who signed me up lied to me . I specifically told them I wanted the membership for only one month. I will never go back again.

  20. I attend (attended) the 42nd Street gym since it opened. I stopped going for a period of time, but returned in the last three months. I have an outfit which I where to the gym all of time (a romper with shorts, made out of cotton). I am in the middle of my workout when I feel a touch on my shoulder and realize that it is one of the ladies from the front counter who proceeds to tell me that I cannot workout in my outfit - at that point I could no work out because I could not focus. So then I went to the front counter to speak to the manager - Lily. Of course, she did not want to hear it what I had to say because I was supposedly talking to loud, but she had no problem sending someone to interrupt my workout in the middle of the floor. Her management skills need polishing. When I called the offices to complain about the way in which this matter was handled, Colletti (customer service) tells me that she is cancelling my membership and I told her if she did cancel my membership, she would have to return my money so they proceeded to cancel my membership for October. Since this incident happened, I have been to the gym repeatedly and have seen people wearing skirts, normal shirt - not tee-shirts and working out without shoes. So my thought is, are they micromanaging the place or picking on certain individuals without contracts - like me. I was supposed to get a call from Dana - District Manager and have yet to hear from her. I am complaining about the professionalism and lack of manners at the 42nd Street Lucille Robert. This is a place where people go to relax and get healthy and come to find out that they cause more stress than the average job.

I have been a member at Astoria Steinway st for yrs til recently I was harrassed by the manager who while I was having my lunch across the street had the audacity to harrass me over having friendship wuth the asst hmanager Cristine. Told me wheres the dynamics in our friendship and yelled in the middle of this restaurant. I dont feel comfortable with her n she should be fired. She runs the gym like a nazi. I will report this gym to the city n if I need to sue I will. She goes by the name Anastacia aka Nas!!!

I even did the renewal sale because it was affordable and now i am fighting to cancel it. ..... horrible HORRIBLE customer service. over crowded. old gym equiptment. the worst. theres so many new gyms opening up now days with better times and equiptment for the same price, if not, less. screw you lucille roberts! never again in my life!

Her personal issues started with me several years ago when she decided to speak to me on the phone in an extremely unprofessional manner because I had called her one day to ask her about the air conditioning that never seems to be working during the hottest weeks of the year during the Summer. She proceeds to pretty much rip my head off during the phone call, saying me calling was interrupting her phone call with someone else, and how dare I call her when she is trying to sign up a new gym member. (I was interrupting "her sale") What ever happened to satisfying existing customers? The next day I approach her and ask her why she spoke to me in such a manner. She yelled at me and said I was overreacting. She then proceeds to tell me that if I wanted my money back that was fine and she heard me "whine like a dog" to other members that the AC was not working.Is this professional treatment? Is this how you want your members treated just for asking
    about a broken AC?

  27. I have been a member at the Bayside localtion for over 20 years and I want to thank the management for finally having classes on the Memorial Day weekend! It was great to find out there are classes, except on the actual holiday, which makes sense. I wanted to say 'thank you' for finally having classes on the holiday weekends for those of us who are not traveling.

LR customer service is the worst. you can only email and that's when there computer system is working, I have been trying to cancel my membership since April and nothing, finally found the corporate headquarters number and called every extension and it seems that nobody there works... Maybe they should spend less time working out and more time working... I am disgusted and fed up... Time to call the news stations....

  29. Classes that were offered originally, are no longer offered. I know that classes are subject to change, but totally no class offered - especially since that was the deal when became a member. Classes are cut for short time and are told that they will be offered again, never are.
    2nd classes - Sat and Sun. never brought back. Before this holiday weekend, July 4, no 2nd 6:30 pm classes (Wed and Thurs) What is that about? It seems instructors want to give a class, but are told they are cancelled.
    Classes are great, but why are they cut????? With all the other gym's around, I don't think I'd recommend this gym, due to lack of classes and not enough machines. Not a good policy, when signing up and told what classes are offered and see a program of classes, and then they are gone.

  30. I just got the notice that they are closing the Shirley LR. I was devastated. Lisa and Kim are terrrific instructers and the other members are so welcoming and friendly. I feel as if I am losing part of my family. What can we do to keep this gym open?

So about two years ago I unfortunately signed up for your company, after the first year I realized that it was not worth my time, there wasn't much machines, it was out of my way and it was small. I tried to cancel it but was told I would have to pay the remaining balance of my contract, so I thought fine let me follow through my contract stick it out and finish the two year contract. Firstly I find it completely unprofessional and unethical as a company to not have a customer service line, so I have to talk to the store managers or employee who have no contribution to the rules intact. Is anyone taking ownership and responsibility? Seems not when I asked to speak to corporate for customer service I was told there was none available for customers, so there is one available for employees if there is a discrepancy in their check yet my money is not important. I thought the customers were important. Apparently not. AND NOW to put the frosting on the cake I have finished my two year contract sept, I have not been to the gym in over 6 months and somehow I was billed for 30$. Last time I checked I signed a contract for 2 years only. According to the representative the contract stated that I had go out of my way to cancel the account. 1) I have the contract at home and it does not state that, the representative must of assumed that I thrown mine away or that I'm an idiot. 2) At no point in the sales pitch that she conducted did she mention that, also she did not mention the $40 fee that popped up 2-3 a year. 3) I have voicemail proof that Lucille Roberts has contacted to renew and make a new contract, if it were the case that they would continue to take money from my account why would they continue to ask for m membership? I find your company extremely deceptive and unethical. The fact that I cannot have a conversation with someone from corporate on the phone on a personal level speaks for itself. I demand my reimbursement for the month of October money does not grow on trees for me and I find it extremely unfair, that I have to pay for service I haven't used in over 6 months and now that my contract is over I am still being charged. I hope this issue is addressed promptly, because as it so happens, my uncle is a lawyer and I intend to sue on principle of the matter, lets not let it get that far. Also believe I will make a pit stop to your corporate office on 4 E. 80th St.

  32. My husband and I had been gold card member some years ago at the Kings Highway location, no problem whatsoever, nice facility. Recently I registered at the Flatbush location in brooklyn, that is when my problem started; first, I did not knowingly approved direct withdrawal from my checking account. I realized this was happening when I received two insufficient funds notices in the same day from my bank, each insufficient fund notice was due to Lucille Roberts direct withdrawal fee of $10.34, each month, my bank charged me $34.00 each bounced withdrawal. I visited the gym twice the first time the supervisor/manager was not there, I was told I can only cancel online, I insisted on speaking to the manager and the counter person informed that she was employed three months ago and she called the supervisor at home who I spoke to. she informed me I would have to go online to cancel and there was no customer service person to speak to because Lucille Roberts converted everything to online only service, that there was no human communication between manager/supervisor and headquarters and that her supervisor would be in the following day at 1:00 O'Clock so I returned the next day and the supervisor repeated what the counter person said to me the day before, it was so robotic I just had to leave. I gained access to a computer and I am being charged $35.00 to cancel my membership (really?, seriously?, unbelievable). It seem to me that Lucille Roberts is scamming clients by making it difficult to cancel membership and continue to directly withdraw money from your account... easy for them to collect clients money. I am so fiery angry, I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place, I was given a P.O. Box # if I wanted to write to corporate headquarters bottom line Lucille Roberts does not care how they treat their members and only care to get our money at whatever means within the loop holds of the law...how low can you go?

Lucille Roberts in Karney NJ,The Manager Christian is very nasty to people,also we have an instructor that ppl were starting to enjoy her class on Tuesday and she took the class away from her i asked the instructor if shell be giving classes soon but,the instructors said i would love to but it depend on how the schedule is set up. I was so upset besides that she doesn't greet ppl nicely she prfers to turn her back and not talk to anyone...I don't like her customer service at all.. The manager said that instructor is only a fillin I've never seen them do that to anyone there so why do it to that instructor...Bottom line that manage need to learn how a professional behave..
